  • Great value. Loved Tony's laid back style, his giving me the info I needed and his leaving me alone. Loved the generous amount of space in the room, plus the powerful heating if I wanted it (that I could adjust to suit), and the shower was good too

  • Very close to St George’s park. Access to property at rear, parking across the road. Perfect property for overnight stays. Only thing to consider is the stairs are steep - not a problem for me but may be a consideration for someone with mobility issues!

  • What can I say, I was greeted warmly by Sharon and Simon and made to feel at home right away, after being shown around their beautiful home, I was directed to my bedroom which was very clean, spacious and has everything needed, the personal touches like tea/coffee and even biscuits in the room were excellent, the view from the window across the fields to Englands “St George’s Park” were a delight. Simon and Sharon are more than happy to chat, or to leave you in peace, if that’s what you require, if you stay here, you’re going to love the house, surroundings and of course, Simon and Sharon. I can’t wait to go back the next time I am up this way.

Jane's home is located in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, England, United Kingdom. She lives there with her husband Mike. The Coach House has recently been renovated and dates back to the 18th Century and features original exposed beams. It is on the same plot as where we live but is detached and has it's own entrance.
The Coach House has it's own semi-private garden, which is a peaceful and quiet space.
There are a number of nice restaurants within walking distance, and take-aways should you not fancy cooking. There are plenty of pubs too, I can make recommendations upon your arrival. There are several places where you can get a splendid full English Breakfast, or if you are looking to grab a spot of lunch, or afternoon tea. We have a few local Supermarkets, with Waitrose at the end of the street and also Asda, Tesco and Lidl within walking distance.
  • Jane was so lovely and welcoming! The Coach House is such a beautiful place to stay with the most amazing little touches! Really comfy bed and such a spacious property in general, everywhere was sparkling clean and cosy for when we arrived! Would 100% recommend and I am hoping to return in the future!

    Amy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a little gem this place is. You couldn’t of asked for a nicer clean well equipped flat. 5 star all the way.

    Richard2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The coach house is simply everything you would want and expect from Air B&B. Jane has done a superb job of making this place a home from home. Her communication after booking was swift and she even came out to greet and introduce even though we was self check in. The property is one of the best stays that we have had as experienced air b&b travellers. The house is immaculate, very clean, the sofas and bed are extremely comfortable, tge kitcgen has everything you need for cooking utensils, pots oans etc .. and has everything that a whole property should have. Jane left lots of thoughtful touches and even left us a welcome hamper of goodies for our stay. She is a very plesant host and nothing was too much trouble. If you have looked at this property then book it up, you wont be disapointed. Look forward to our next stay with you. Thank you Jane

    Allan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jane was a fantastic host, she was very welcoming and showed us round the house. The house was spotless, and had all the extra touches which made it feel like a home away from home.

  • This is the second time that we have stayed here and it really is superb. We stay as we are having a day out at the races and this place is just so convenient. Jane is a fabulous host and the number of fine, personal touches make the difference. The place is lovely, stylish, clean and very, very cosy. I have no doubt that we will return again, hopefully sooner rather than later. Thank you Jane for the loveliest weekend break.

    Lesley2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent as ever. Unfortunately moving to a new site but hope to be back later.

    John2020-01-09T00:00:00Z

A delightful cottage situated in a conservation area, tastefully decorated and nestling in a pretty valley opposite woodland. Explore the Peak District, the Potteries, Antique shops in Ashbourne, Alton Towers or walk to Dimmingsdale from the cottage. Come home to peace, quiet and a cosy wood burner or sit outside with a glass of wine in the little courtyard at the back and enjoy the birdsong.
Arrive from 4pm. Depart by 10am 3 nights minimum stay
There are many pubs in the village including The Bulls Head and The Bridge Hotel. Walk along the disused railway track from the cottage to Denstone Farm Shop for breakfast, lunch or tea and cake. Pick up a ready made meal there to take home and enjoy later in the warm cottage by the log burner. The lovingly restored Victorian Cheddleton Railway Station (near Leek) and the Churnet Valley Railway take you on a journey back to the classic days of railway travel. Treat yourself to an afternoon cream tea whilst taking in lovely scenery. Walkers can visit Dimmingsdale, walk along the old railway track in either direction from the restored Alton Station or travel on a bike along the Tissington Trail. Scenic Dovedale in The Peak District and lunch at The George in Alstonefield is a delight. Visit Haddon Hall (about 25 miles away) overlooking the River Wye with its romantic house and Elizabethan terraced gardens. Also, Wedgwood, Emma Bridgewater and Burleigh potteries are not too far away in Stoke on Trent. Ashbourne offer many historic building and antique shops. Also, Alton Towers Theme Park is just outside the village and offer much more than just the rides.
  • Wonderful cosy cottage in quiet secluded position but ideal as a base to explore The Peak District and Staffordshire. All comforts provided for and great tips on local places oven by and attentive host. Great getaway, even with the interesting weather, certainly had all seasons in 1 week. (Ciara and Dennis including snow😱🤷‍♀️) would love to return when weather improves to explore more. Thank you From Emma and Neil.

  • What a perfect haven! This is exactly the kind of place my friend and i were looking for, to get away from the chaos of the city. The cottage is beautiful. Exactly as is in the pictures but much better in real life. Spotlessly clean and will all the information about the local area you could possibly need. There was plenty of logs for the fire and very useful instructions for the first time users like myself! Saskia's communication was phenomenal, and I was given all relevant information and more, before and during the stay. The cottage itself had everything you could possibly need. Warm and cosy and totally functional. The location is perfect as simply 15min drive from Uttoexeter train station, and close to lovely pubs, local shop and beautiful scenic walks. My friend and i had the most wonderful time and we would like to thank Saskia for her beautiful home. I will be returning! lisa x

    Adrian2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Saskia is extremely helpful & informative. She couldn’t do enough. The cottage was spotless, equipped with absolutely everything & beautifully decorated. We stayed for Xmas and on arrival there was a real xmas tree beautifully decorated & lit, log burner was all filled ready to be used. Kitchen had all the homely touches & all the toiletries where fabulous. Would highly recommend staying here, its a dreamy cottage in an idyllic setting.

    Ozgur2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • An incredible place with lots of great little touches: the fire's pre build, chocolate is left out and the styling's classic and never overbearing.

    Charles2019-11-25T00:00:00Z

Thank you for looking at our listing. If you're looking for somewhere central then have we got the room for you! We are a 10 minute drive from JCB HQ, 15 minutes from Alton Towers and a 20 minute walk to Uttoxeter Racecourse. We are a perfect base for exploring the local area with Stoke, Lichfield, Stafford, Cannock, Derby and Burton all within 25 minutes. If you were looking a but further afield then Birmingham, Leicester, Coventry and Dovedale are all about an hour away.
Our house was built in 1893 and is very quirky yet contemporary complete with (some) hobbit sized doors and creaky floorboards. The room itself is a comfortable, light and airy space at the back of the house. There's a double bed and ample storage for extended stays. We don't have a TV in the room but there is a good strength fibre WiFi signal for all those boxset addicts out there.
Uttoxeter is a smallish market town. It has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. We even have a 3-in-1 cinema, bowling alley and ice rink....oh and the racecourse obviously. It takes us about 10 minutes to walk in to town but if you weren't feeling that energetic there is a pub, shop and chinese takeaway just around the corner.
  • This is basically as it says on the tin. It is a simple double bedroom and there is a nearby bathroom. There is a fridge that you can use downstairs and there is also tea/coffee etc available in the kitchen. Good for an overnight stay when visiting Uttoxeter, but not a holiday home. However you are not paying for that - it is good value for what you get and the hosts are very friendly.

  • Ellyse's home is a great place to stay. It has everything you need and is in a great location for the surrounding attractions. An unexpected meeting meant Ellyse was unable to be there but, we were still accommodated with a great check in process. Contact was great and we knew Ellyse was easily reachable if we had any questions. Highly recommend!

  • A fantastic location and really cosy home. Lovely and clean with all the amenities you would expect. Great safe parking in a quiet cul-de-sac.

  • It was a pleasure to stay at Ellyse's place. She made you feel at home & as a host came across as approachable, likeable & laid-back. Whilst I didn't spend much time around the house, everything was clean & the bed was comfy. A nice space - can't ask for any more.

  • I had a lovely time at Ellyse’s stylish home. She was very welcoming and helpful with tips about cool local spots - Bear cafe! The location is excellent, walking distance from the train station, shops and restaurants. I would absolutely recommend and look forward to returning!

  • Philip’s house is quiet and well located, and a much more spacious and economic alternative to the hotels in the area if there are more than two of you. We enjoyed our stay.

    Maria2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful little cottage extremely well situated in a pretty village with good amenities. Very comfy beds , warm rooms with storage heaters , great shower and lovely little touches for breakfast etc. Parking very conveniently placed at rear of house.

  • Great location for Alton towers . Very clean

    Sally2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place, very clean and tidy with thoughtful touches. Phil was very thoughtful and considerate - I would highly recommend staying here. Close to Alton Towers as well!

    Jen2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Philip's pad is brilliant for Alton Towers vists and covers all the basis

    Freddie2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This house was perfect for our weekend in Alton Towers! Less than a 10 minute drive to the park and walking distance to the local shop, pub & takeaways. The house was spotlessly clean, and stocked up with tea, coffee, milk, juice, bread & cereal for breakfast (and a box of Maltesers, which didn’t last very long!) Overall, it was 5-star hospitality in a great location and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

    Rachel2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for stays when visiting Alton towers. Prefect space for a family to relax and spend time together. Good size bedrooms and living spaces. Philip made the house welcoming by leaving extra touches such as breakfast food and chocolates!

    Anna2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for the family. Ideally located for Alton Towers. Phil provided all the small essentials (tea, coffee, sugar, milk, cereal and chocolate etc... enough for a few days). There is a big Tesco just in the next town if you need anything more substantial. Also some good takeaways locally. There was a small hiccup with getting the key code for the door but it was resolved within 30 minutes and didn’t delay us one bit as we were still travelling. Thanks again!

  • Jane has a lovely little place set up in Tutbury. Very clean and found a pint of fresh milk in the fridge and fresh flowers on the windowsill. Very good size neat bedrooms one with a comfy double and the other with a good single and a spare tucked underneath. Kitchen has all you need, even an induction hob! Sitting area has a 2 seat sofa and 4 stools around a kitchen bar. A modern little flat but with cottagey touches. We’d certainly go back when next in the area.

  • My stay with Ginny was certainly one of those 'above and beyond' positive experiences. She was very responsive and completely understanding when I was delayed slightly by traffic and I was made to feel immediately at home when I arrived. The house is in a beautiful location, very quiet with a lovely garden and an equally lovely dog. This is more than just a room for the night it is a warm, welcoming home. I would highly recommend Ginny as a host.

    Rory2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ginny is a kind and considerate host who went over and above the call of duty during my stay. I would not hesitate to recommend or return.

    Luke2018-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • I had another great two night stay at Ginny's and it was every bit as good as the first time. She is an excellent host and was kind enough to let me bring my dog. Nothing was too much trouble and the home-made sourdough toast with my breakfast was a real bonus. The bed is comfy and it is wonderful to wake up to birdsong and fresh air. I will be back and I can definitely recommend.

    Michelle2018-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • I was in Burton for a meeting and stayed at Ginny's for a night. I could only check in at night after my meeting and Ginny did well to accommodate my late check in needs. She is an excellent host and even made me breakfast the next day! Would visit again

    Ryan2017-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Ginny gave me a very warm welcome and advised me on all the local amenities. I was working at St Georges park and her accommodation was in the perfect spot, only 8 minutes drive away.

  • Ginny is a high class host and she made us feel very welcomed at her place. She prepared breakfast ( home made bread, peppermint tea from the garden, butter, honey, cereal and fruits) for us every morning. Mambi, her dog is such a lovely creature who get along with our two dogs very easily. The place is quiet and the air is fresh and very clean.

  • Lovely stylish studio annex right on a fishing lake. The host Bill was great and was very welcoming on my arrival on a very wet and windy night. Homemade bread and biscuits were a lovely touch. The studio has everything you need, it's very modern and quiet and the bed is extremely comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place.

    Dee2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a great stay at Bill’s place. A very warm welcome from Bill -with cookies and homemade bread. A very well appointed studio – all we needed and spotlessly clean. Fantastic views from the large windows across the lake. We’d very happily stay again.

    Bob2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous apartment in a stunning location (even in the February rain) and the views over the lake are breathtaking. The apartment was spotlessly clean and the little kitchen was very handy. The en-suite bathroom was great too with lashings of hot water and a great shower. Bill was a very generous host making sure I had my favourite Earl Grey tea and some cookies that his wife had baked. It's unusual to get breakfast, and I especially loved the home made jam. My only sadness was that I'd only booked one night! I'll certainly be back.

  • Bill was brilliant with communication throughout. Beautiful setting would be gorgeous in the summer sat right on the water, watching the birds. We had homemade biscuits made for use so lovely touch. Space and how it was designed is great and the the whole building is like a house out of grand designs. Would definitely recommend and would stay again for sure. Thanks Bill

  • I had an absolutely superb stay with Chris and Margaret at Manor House Farm. The surrounding countryside is stunning, and the farm house itself was amazing - very old and beautifully cared for, so welcoming and warm! I loved having the use of the sitting room and log fire of an evening! My room was so cozy and comfortable and clean. The bed was really comfy, shower hot and towels fluffy. I had one of the best night's sleep there I can remember. The internet reception was great, although I didn't have much phone reception (which to be honest was a plus for a short break!) Chris and Margaret were very communicative and friendly, and so helpful in planning activities for the day. Breakfast was such a treat! All cooked to order, top quality and delicious. I only wish I could have stayed longer! :-)

My place is close to The Cannock Chase Museum and Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, local golf courses, Lichfield, several National Trust properties, The National Memorial Arboretum and Rugeley. Train service from Rugeley to Birmingham.
Our bedrooms are very much "home from home" and all have stunning views of the surrounding farmyard and countryside views. Each bedroom has ensuite facilities comprising a shower, toilet and washbasin. There are televisions in each room and tea making facilities and coffee making trays.
  • You are on a working Farm, the overall stay for me was as expected and suited me down to the ground, easy distance for a recently refurbished pub if you needed a meal or drink.

  • Mavis is very welcoming to this lovely old traditional farm house. The breakfast is massive and delicious! comfy beds, everything you need.

    Christian2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely enjoyed my time at Mavis' home. A more welcoming host would be hard to imagine and on a cold, wet night the hot cup of tea and home made cake she had ready for me were most welcome. Absolutely no concerns or complaints about my room ( huge! ) and a really great cooked breakfast. A bargain at the price! Certainly, Mavis' home will be my first port of call on my next visit to the Stafford area. Thank you, Mavis.

  • Our stay was very comfortable. My son and I both appreciated you sharing you home with us and for the way you were able to work with our schedule. It was rather later (like 2am) when we arrived and your notes and directions were easy to follow to find our room. It was a comfortable bed and lots of covers, which I could peel layers off if too warm -very snug. I enjoyed the cooked breakfast every morning, although I would have to watch my waist line if I eat like that every day. Your live in an interesting old house in a beautiful and peaceful setting. I loved hearing the robin twittering and pigeons cooing in the morning. I enjoyed the walks too through green fields. Overall it was a peaceful place where you could step out of this busy noisy world for a while into an oasis of tranquillity and timelessness.

This beautiful period cottage is sympathetically styled and sits alongside a former coach house and Georgian Manor House. It has many replica period features such as exposed wooden beams, stone flagstone flooring and quality fixtures and fittings. It is a first floor cottage with an Open Plan space for guests to enjoy. With a luxury king size French sleigh bed the cottage is perfect for 2 adults. The Chesterfield sofa in the living area also converts to an occasional bed suitable for 1 child.
Woodleighton Cottages is a privately run business consisting of 4 spacious Self Catering properties located in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire - just 5 minutes walk from the Race Course. The Cottages were lovingly created from a former Coach House to Wood Leighton House, a beautiful Georgian Manor House dating back to the 1860’s which has also been lovingly restored. The owners of the Cottages live in the Manor House, so if you need any local knowledge or a great restaurant recommendation just ask! The Manor House and Cottages sit nestled in their own quiet, restful and picturesque grounds, surrounded by mature trees, large lawns, a fish pond and beautiful flower beds with walled English gardens. There is a tree lined drive leading to the front of the cottages and an oak spinney adjacent. The Cottages have a uniqueness which gives you the best of both worlds - once in the grounds you feel like you are in the open countryside and all the stresses and strains melt away as you watch the squirrels foraging. Yet almost on your door step you also have all the local amenities. The Luxury Cottages retain beautiful original features while also being equipped to the latest modern standards.

The apartment is on 3 floors within a grade II listed building. The kitchen is spacious with a log burner and all the nice appliances such as an American style fridge freezer, wine cooler, range cooker, coffee machine and a dishwasher. The glass-blown staircase leads up to the the snug and dressing room, which is cosy, off this is the bathroom with a large walk in shower and an infa-red sauna. The staircase in the snug leads up to the bedroom which is under a beautiful array of beams.
The Granville House Apartment over 3 floors is in a quirky, beautiful building and you can relax within the surroundings of the apartment and the village. The house has so much history as some parts are Tudor, Georgian, Victorian and present day. The house was once owned by Henry Jackson who founded the Tutbury glass works which was one of the first blown crystal glass factories started up. Tutbury became very known for its glass and Granville house was Jackson's townhouse. He commissioned his workers to create an amazing glass-blown staircase in the main house and the last owners of Georgian glass in Tutbury where commissioned by us to blow glass for the staircase in the apartment. The apartment will have all your needs met. Toiletries supplied, towels, board games, music, information folder. A welcome pack will be included in the price so you don't have to rush about shopping, this will include milk, sugar, tea, coffee and bread.
The village has a great feel to it, with a variety of independent shops along the Main Street, from cafes, antiques and an art gallery. Opposite is a grade I listed Tudor coaching inn and bar. Tutbury is very historic with a Norman church and a medieval castle that Mary Queen of Scots stayed at before being taken to the Tower of London. There are a variety of great walks on the doorstep such as along the river or over the fields to other villages (info in apartment)
  • Ruth was a lovely host. The apartment is warm, cosy as well equipped with lots of delightful quirky, historic touches amongst modern styling.

    Lesley2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning space, we loved the 3 floors especially the kitchen/lounge area which is fantastically laid out. Great amenities everything you could possibly need fantastic cooker, big fridge, coffee machine. Felt at home as soon as we arrived especially after a lovely welcoming from Ruth herself. Highly recommend

    Danielle2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little place with great little touches like the sauna, coffee machine and wine fridge. Ruth and the locals were super friendly and the house Is in an ideal location to go out for food and drinks

    Hayley2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really cute and quirky. It had everything we needed and more. The sauna is a nice touch! Definitely recommend.

    Meghan2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Ruth's place. We did quite a bit of cooking during our stay and found the kitchen brilliant. Plenty of space, and well equipped, including a really good double oven, big fridge/freezer, coffee machine, wine cooler - really everything we could have needed. Loved the cosy area on the middle floor, complete with piano!! And the sauna was a massive bonus (as well as a really good shower!) Bedroom was dark and quiet so perfect for light sleepers. Location was great for us (right on the high street) and parking outside the house was really easy. Ruth was the perfect host: easy to contact, super accomodating and very hospitable. Would absolutely recommend.

    Suziey2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant accommodation and a lovely and cosy space to relax. We received great advice on the local area and really made the most of our short stay. Definitely would come back and would recommend!

    James2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great three storey accommodation, full of character, excellent location on the high street, opposite the Dog and Partridge pub, with the castle only a short walk away. We received a warm welcome from Ruth and immediately felt at home in the property. The love hearts and rolos to help us celebrate our anniversary were a nice touch as was the welcome hamper with fresh bread and milk and choice of teas and coffee. All towels and bed linen were lovely and fresh and clean and we enjoyed the use of the sauna during our stay. Only potential negative for some people would be the stairs which are very steep - anyone with mobility difficulties may struggle (I use a stick but coped okay - just take it steady).

    Helen2019-11-04T00:00:00Z

Keepers Cottage was converted from its previous use as a log store and pig sty by ourselves some twenty years ago. What we have achieved is to offer an up to date quality cottage while maintaining all the old world charm so often lost in barn conversions. The downstairs 4 poster bedroom has a modern shower room next door while upstairs there is a double or twin bedroom with ensuite bath. The main living area is open plan with Sofas, Log burner and TV. Main cooking area and rustic dining table.
While the cottage is ideal for families it can also be perfect for two doubles or twin usage. Also ideal for walkers or just a truly relaxing away from it all break
Keepers Cottage is ideal for exploring both the Peak District and local Stately Homes while being only 18 miles from the world famous Potteries. Alton Towers Theme Park is only 3 miles away
  • Such a lovely cottage in a really peaceful and relaxing setting. It was our second visit and we hope to stay again in the future.

  • The Keepers Cottage is a true little treasure. The picture's really don't do it justice. The cottage is full of character and charm, from original doors to the four poster bed and the lovely fireplace. We ended up arriving a little later than planned but Chris was great and responded to messages very quickly, along with easy to follow instructions on how to get to the property. We were provided with tea, coffee, sugar and milk in the very stylish kitchen, along with coal and kindling for the fire. It was the perfect weekend getaway spot in the countryside, to relax and reset. Could not recommend this place enough! Hope to stay again very soon.

  • Kai was a lovely host. Knew he would be available if we had any questions. House was clean and comfortable. Bed very comfy. Was just us staying at the time which meant we had our own bathroom. Kai had basic breakfast items in - bread and milk. Tea and coffee. Only thing I would say is towels are hand towels. So bring one if that would bother you. For me I’m easy going so it was fine. Perfect location for Alton Towers. We don’t drive but bus/taxi from Uttoxeter station to Rochester was fine (15 mins) and we got taxis to and from Alton towers. £17 each way which was grand. 100% would stay again.

  • Absolutely wonderful location, beautiful room. Slightly small as no separate seating / eating area, but top quality and so beautifully decorated with lovely personal touches. Highly recommended!

  • Thank you Gaynor for a wonderful stay on a rainy February weekend! Although the weather wasn't in our favour, we still had a lovely time in the countryside in Gaynor's annexe. Lovely thoughtful touches, very cosy and warm, and a fully equipped kitchen. Will definitely return if we are in the area!
