A perfect getaway to escape reality for a little while. It was peaceful with a beautiful green backdrop of trees and hills and a short, refreshing walk to the river. It's also in close proximity to many great restaurants in the Midlands.

A perfect cottage for a couple or small family wanting peace and quiet in a gorgeous country setting. The cottage is spotless with crisp white linen and fluffy white towels. Lovely views from the cottage verandah and a lovely walk from the cottage down to and along the river. Easy 10 minutes drive away from Michaelhouse school. Dominique is a perfect host. Highly recommend.

Lovely cottage in a great location, so peaceful and very comfortable. We could sit on the front veranda for days. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Pear Tree Cottage is a beautiful space offering incredible views, a connection to nature and proximity to the various artisan areas along the Midlands Meandor. A perfect spot to rest and rejuvenate with family.

We’ve been to the Midlands four times and Pear Tree Cottage was one of the best we’ve ever stayed at. This cottage is truly ‘spotless’ – it almost looks like new and is the cleanest we’ve ever stayed in. The level of detail to make our stay as comfortable as possible was above and beyond – special towels for make-up, a baby towel and change mat for our little one and so on. Dominque is an incredibly welcoming and hospitable host – so friendly and responsive – she really looked after us well during our four-night stay. The cottage is ideal to explore the Midlands – you can take a drive from there in a new direction every day or simply walk a few meters down the road for a bite or a beer tasting. Price-wise it is great value for money for a two-bedroom cottage in this location. And the view…. Is stunning! The walk to the river… worth it!

Great cottage with everything we needed, in a beautiful area

Pear Tree Cottage is the perfect place for a quiet getaway. We loved the greenery during our November stay and the occasional misty weather only added to the cosiness. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed right down to a selection of board games which we really enjoyed. I would highly recommend Pear Tree Cottage to anyone with a love for the countryside.

Perfect stay for the weekend and central to a lot of attractions in the area. Very clean and comfortable. Easy to come and go. Beautiful flowing river at the bottom of the property, a short walk away. Thanks for a very pleasant stay.

Very nice, cosy and romantic cabin, with all facilities(kitchen, wonderful italian shower and even a bathtub) and a stunning environment in the forest. Lundy is very friendly and hepful. Totally recommended.

A beautiful rustic, forest getaway. We had an amazing time. The bath tub in the forest was a definitely highlight as well as a comfy bed to have a peaceful night sleep.

What an awesome experience!! If you enjoy being absolutely surrounded by nature then this is the best pick. Quality amenities with the freedom of the outdoor shower and bath, with an open air kitchen to round it off.

Everything about this place was great! Lundy is a very friendly and warm host, and she immediately makes you feel welcome. Her little dogs are the cutest things on Earth and even though they’re excited to see you, they’re so well behaved! We thoroughly enjoyed the accommodation - It was exactly the rustic yet comfortable getaway that we were looking for. Thank you, Lundy :)

Great spot away in the midlands

We stayed for 1 night while attending the Midmar Mile in Howick. The cottage is great and all you require is there. There are a lot of attractions in the area. What we liked most was just sitting on the patio looking out over the beautiful scenery and relaxing.

The drive to this little haven sets the tone for a restful stay, lots of green and lushness. The cottage so homely and clean with a great view through the glass doors. Cute personal touches in the decor topped by the little verandah seats that make for the best morning coffee chats or book reading location. Would come back again and again. Thank you so much Graeme and Karen for this gem.

Great place just as we expected it.

Fantastic location, close to Nottingham road and Michaelhouse. Waking up in a king sized bed that looks over the countryside is always a great start to the day. Followed by slow private mornings on the patio with complimentary coffee and rusks. Will definitely be coming back!

We received a warm welcome at Enniskerry cottages by bubbly Rosemarie and had a wonderful stay. This place is ideally situated if you have an event in the area to explore the many interesting shops and eateries of the beautiful kzn midlands. Definitely worth a visit!

A comfy, cosy little hideaway, perfectly situated for the Midlands Meander. We appreciated having a Queen bed with electric blanket, as well as the little "extras" such as good quality shower products, the farm fresh milk in the fridge, etc. It was the perfect peaceful getaway.

My sons and I had a wonderful stay at Caladdi on our way to the South Coast. Nova and her family, including all the four legged hosts, were so hospitable and helpful. We had so many cuddles from the dogs and kittens, and such warm welcomes from the family and staff. And the breakfasts ... delicious. Nova was also very helpful in recommending family friendly restaurants and outings. We will definitely return.

We travelled with our dogs for the show and we felt most welcome. There was a lot of space for the dogs to stetch their legs and we were most comfortable in our room and the filter coffee was fabulous. The morning breakfast was delicious and not your ordinary breakfast

A great nights stay.. enjoyed the hosts company whilst watching ladies cycling Olympic final. Wishing their horse a speedy recovery after knocking itself out..

Beacon Vlei is very central to The Meander. Such a peaceful setting and very safe. Elias was very helpful and accommodating. Did not have a chance to meet Alex. Will definitely go back again.

Beautiful spot! Stayed here for some chilled family time, my hisbamd and I with our one year old. Perfect for exploring the midlands and great fun just relaxing at the house and mking use of Alex's boats on the vlei. Definitely recommend!

We just love the Shawshack! This was our third visit. It's rustic, but has everything one could need; its quirky and charming and honest; its perfectly situated for any Midlands meandering; the countryside is beautiful; and Lundy and her family are warm and helpful hosts. We will certainly be back again.

What a great weekend, from the warm fire place, the animals to even kayaking in the dam. We had a such lovely time in the Fishermans cottage. Felt very homely with everything we needed. My dog had such a good time being farm dog for the weekend. Highlight was definitely meeting all the cows and their calves.

This space has a spectacular view and setting - overlooking a green lawn and dam on a farm. The hosts thought of everything in terms of amenities. There were even some board games we thoroughly enjoyed. Had a great one night stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

Mooifontein Cottage was exactly what we needed - a quaint place to stay with a beautiful view. The cottage was clean and well equipped and the huge fenced yard meant our dogs had plenty of space to run around. James and Justine were very helpful. We will definitely be back.

It is a really special location. A real rustic Midlands experience in the best way possible - big green fields, lots of cows, big trees, big skies and really clean cimfy cottage. The only thing is that I would recommend a 4x4 for the last 2km - road very challenging if in a sedan.

This place rocks. It is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. The shower is amazing. The kitchen has everything you need we fell in love with the non stick pan. Old Kilgobbin farm is a special place. Carl is an amazing host. The cottage is cosy and spacious and the farm offers beautiful walks - perfect for a restful getaway.

Such an amazing space, far bigger and more impressive than we even expected, with gorgeous views of the Dargle valley, and peace and quiet for miles. A definite must for large groups or special celebrations - there is a space or a couch for every person and taste and no one will ever feel on top of each other.

Brill place. “Upmarket” doesn’t quite do it justice - it’s like something out a Country Living magazine. On site staff are super helpful: enthusiastic and responsive. Would definitely go again. No WiFi but that’s a positive imho - adds the tranquility of the ~remote setting. Loved it.

Had a wonderful relaxing weekend. Amazing property and so quiet at night. Vusi and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The place is big...if you went in a group, would be easy to find a secluded spot if you needed your own space. Highly recommended.

Host really is great - she communicated so well. I was very impressed that she even messaged me to put me at ease that our neighbours will only arrive the next day so it's not necessary to stress about our baby potentially waking them up. Also lots of finer touches like flowers etc. A lovely home away from home place to spend some time in the Midlands.

The SummerSon Cottage at Midlands Inverness Cottages really is a little piece of heaven. Although we only had the 1 night as we were just passing through this time around, I can easily see us returning. My 2 year old son loved being able to spend time with the horses, feed the chickens and hold the bunnies. The views are outstanding, the accommodation very comfortable (especially the little touches that Jayne adds to the cottage) and their location is perfect with easy access to everything in the Midlands. I travel a lot for work and can happily say "we will be back"

Inverness Farm is a wonderful place for a getaway to the heart of KZN. Jayne's a more than accommodating host with a warm welcoming smile! She's easy to contact and provides clear instructions. The cottages are very well appointed with extremely comfy beds and all the amenities one could need. The postcard views out over the vineyards and into the rolling hills is worth the stay alone. The farm is close by lots of great places to eat and things to do, and Jayne is happy to make any recommendations should you be unfamiliar with the area. Highly recommended to couples or small groups visiting KZN who're looking for a great place to have as a base for a Midlands holiday or adventure. Will be back!

Really awesome place central to so much.

We, a family of six, had a very good stay at Jo’s place with a stunning view. Perfect for families with the swimming pool and the jungle gym. Very close to the Barn Owl and Terbodore Coffee. Jo and her husband is a very lovely couple making sure everything is ok.

We had a lovely stay - the pool was a lifesaver. And the house huge with everything a family needs!

Great place to overnight on the way down to coast. Close to N3 but off the beaten track. Many things to do in the area if you have more time...

We spent two nights there with our 4 children as we were leaving from Durban to Johannesburg and it was a very nice experience! The tents are spacious, the hikes are well indicated and allow you to contemplate the local vegetation. I recommend for those looking for a place of tranquility with modern comfort.

Great to be so close to Piggly Wiggly restaurants and shops and Highgate Wine Estate. Lovely kitchen to cook in with the added benefit of a dishwasher. Great braai area available too.

Cathryn’s home is really lovely. Her communication with us was great. Her and her family are very friendly and welcoming and I would highly recommend her place. It’s also right on the Highgate Wine Estate which is a plus after some wine tasting :)

Cannot recommend Woodcroft cottage highly enough. A little slice of heaven in the Midlands! Wonderful spot for river walks on the property with a lovely waterfall. The historic cottage is so beautiful and Nicole and William were amazing hosts. Woodcroft is the perfect forest retreat!

I checked in to their beautiful spot for wedding in the area and it was as if I had stepping into an oasis where there are towering palm, lush lawn , beautiful garden and atmosphere. When I first walked through the listen it was a chefs dream, the open and space was extraordinary. My room was beautifully prepared with fresh flowers, great decors and softest linen, which also had an electric blanket which was so desperately needed in the Dargle area during winter. We were not expecting breakfast but Gillian and Hannes had an entire spread of home made and home grown produce to spoil us with. The Airbnb is just off the main hiway and just a few 100 meters to the locals spots. Thank you Gillian and Hannes. We are already planning our next trip to come visit!
