  • Whilst it was a working visit and we didn't spend much time at the house. The hosts were very nice and the house was clean, the beds were comfortable and shower was very good. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area. Perfect for us and only 10-15mins drive from Newmarket. Tks

  • Tracy and her husband are fantastic hosts and offer their beautiful home as a b&b. Really comfortable beds, fantastic facilities and an outstanding breakfast in addition to giving us a lift from the racecourse-this place and our stay could not be faulted. Would love to go back and would recommend this place as a great location to stay. The local pub in the village, The star, is a great spot for some really good home cooked food.

A cosy bedroom (two available upon request) in a 300 year old Cottage Cheveley near Newmarket. Private parking and free wifi available. Room includes one kingsize bed, with a bedroom view of the orchard. An additional, bigger room is available upon request for £40 a night extra. Two bathrooms available but not en suite. There is a very friendly dog called Poppy living here. There is an acre of orchard in the back garden with ducks, geese, chickens and rabbits that children are welcome to see.
A beautiful cosy room in the quiet village of Cheveley within a 300 year old thatched cottage. A new Nespresso coffee machine is in your room and a selection of herbal teas and biscuits will be ready for your arrival. Within the room there is a kingsize bed with an antique dressing table, The bed has an electric blanket for you to use and there is very good wifi in this room (unlimited and usually 36mbs for the technically inclined of you!) Additional triple room available for £40 extra per night. I'm afraid no meals are provided, however you are more than welcome to make use of the large farmhouse style kitchen to prepare your own meals. This is an old house and in order to retain its charm we have refrained from making it very modern which we feel would damage its English charm. There are also a number of geese, ducks, rabbits and chickens in the orchard garden which children have previously been very fond of visiting!
The house is situated in a lovely traditional English village, it is very quiet and peaceful. There is a small local shop five minutes walk away. There are three pubs within walking distance. The house is quite old and has an English period charm to it.
  • Great value room with everything we needed, we didn’t meet our host properly but communication and check in was excellent. Would definitely stay again.

    Oliver2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley is a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome! She is very knowledgeable about Cheveley and the surrounding area and gave us good recommendations for places to visit and eat. Her home is charming and the dog Poppy is very friendly. Would definitely visit again in the future.

  • If you have a wedding to go to at St Marys then this is the venue for you. Just down the road from the church, the room was clean, the bed comfy and the house had private parking. Great value esp compared to a Premier Inn. Hosts v welcoming. Beware local pub only opens in evening and you need to drive into Mewmarket for food etc.

    Matthew2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful location , Friendly Host., would have loved to stay longer unfortunately we had an early start. If you are looking for food on a weekend evening ensure you book as the pubs get busy .

  • Welcoming and friendly. Beautiful home. Comfy bed 😊

    Lin2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Super cool thatched-roof house, perfect for exploring the history of nearby towns and Cambridge if you've got a car. The room was clean and comfortable. Plus the dog was the friendliest little bundle of joy-definitely a bonus! If you're a really light sleeper bring earplugs, as the house does a lot of creaking at night.

    Sarah2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay

    Patrick2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We only met one of the hosts, Lesley, and she couldn't have been lovelier. Very welcoming and with lots of knowledge about the area. We would recommend the New Wellington pub over the Red Lion, for atmosphere and feeling welcomed.

  • The house is beautiful, a typical old English country house. In December it is quite cold but the blankets were working The kitchen was not what we expected but it did the function to at least heat some pizzas. The house is in the town of Cheveley, near Newmarket (famous racecourse), but does not have good communications with other towns or with Cambridge. Lesley is very friendly and a very interesting lady, always tried to help and advise on everything.

16th century thatched country cottage with pretty garden set in a picturesque historic village in rural Suffolk and only 100yards from quiet country pub. Dalham is popular with hikers for its six circular walks and with cyclists for its uninterrupted gently undulating hills. Nearby are several beautiful historic small towns such as Clare, Cavendish and Lavenham as well as the renowned horse racing centre of Newmarket, university city of Cambridge and historic market town of Bury St Edmunds.
The leaded glass French doors of the large country kitchen open out onto the cottage gravel garden where there is a bistro table should you feel like breakfast outside in the summer. Passing the well, steps lead you up into the private traditionally walled orchard garden where there are tables and chairs to relax. Views of other pretty cottages (our neighbours) are a delight to behold, whilst not being overlooked. Both the gravel and the orchard garden are for guests to use. Special attention has been given to furnishing and decorating our cottage in all areas to be in keeping with the history and charm of the cottage, with antique country furniture from its entire history combined with art mostly by the hand of your host and hand crafted ware.
Dalham is situated in a conservation area and contains many buildings thatched in straw or Norfolk reed. It also has an historic Windmill and Church and a curious Malting Kiln. It is only a small village of about 150 adults but contains around 50 listed buildings.
  • Very welcoming and obliging couple in a very warm and clean home. Highly recommended!

  • Marcella and Roy were the most lovely and humbled couple I’ve met and I respect their way of living. I had a privilege to go into her art space and I adore her art work. I was delighted that we had some things in common and shared some thoughts. The house was picturesque everywhere. The last morning with their dog Molly was priceless. Overall I’m overwhelmed with their heartwarming spirits and I won’t forget the time.

Double room with kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom and private sitting room with small gym, wifi and Sky TV in light south facing lower ground floor of house overlooking woodland in the village of Kirtling, near Newmarket. Use of kitchen/breakfast room. Easy reach of Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, London Stansted airport, Lavenham and Long Melford.
The bedroom and sitting room/gym are clean, warm and spacious with double glazing. There is underfloor heating and an air exchange system, which ensures fresh filtered air throughout. There is plenty of hanging space in the wardrobes and there is a chest of drawers for your use. A desk is in the bedroom if you need a work place or you are welcome to use the kitchen table. The bathroom has a heated towel rail. Plenty of south facing windows. The house is a short drive from Newmarket which is the heart of the British Horse racing industry so if you are an early riser you can go and watch the horses train on Newmarket heath. You can visit The English National Stud, Tattersalls, Europe's leading bloodstock auctioneers, or Palace House which has just opened and is a National Heritage Centre for Horse racing and Sporting Art . Other towns within easy reach are Cambridge, where you can visit the famous colleges, The Fitzwilliam Museum, go punting on the River Cam or just have a wander round and enjoy the beautiful buildings, Bury St Edmunds which has a wonderful cathedral, also Lavenham and Long Melford. The Duxford Air museum and Anglesey Abbey, a National Trust property are both nearby and are well worth a visit. London Stansted airport is 40 mins away. There is a regular train service to London Kings Cross or Liverpool Street.
It's a quiet rural location, set back off the road. There are beautiful views from the house and there are a couple of footpaths nearby, one that goes alongside the wood to the far end of the village and another that takes you to the 2 local churches and beyond. There is a pub in the village, The Red Lion and other pubs in nearby villages. You will often see deer on the garden boundary (and plenty of squirrels). We have a variety of birds that come to the garden, including nuthatch, tree creepers, woodpeckers and plenty of pheasants.

    Diana2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, in beautiful surroundings. I have never stayed within someone's house before but that certainly wasn't an issue, not when you have a perfect host such as Melanie to make you feel instantly at home. Breakfast in the morning was an extra bonus, especially sitting out on the terrace on a sunny morning. Not a bad thing to say, I would definitely recommend.

The annex has glorious views over the mature gardens of Moulton Hall. • We had such a lovely stay at the Annex. The place was beautiful, the bed really comfortable with great linen and Philip and his wife were wonderful hosts. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area, as well as The Packhorse Inn just down the road for food.

  • Highly recommend a stay in Moulton.. great space and a lovely village to explore. We came as last minute guests and Philip and Amanda were great hosts and we really appreciated the little touches of the tea, coffee and milk. Don’t think our son wanted to leave as he fell in love with the gorgeous dogs!

    Olivia2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • It's in a great location and nice and quiet - the local pub is great for food and do go and watch the horses work on the gallops in the morning if you haven't seen it before.

    Bruce2019-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended. The bedroom is spacious, light, double-aspect, beautifully furnished and wonderfully quiet. The kitchenette is fine; tea, coffee, milk are biscuits are provided, and there is a washing machine too. A good variety of books to read. The fours dogs are genuinely friendly; we're not dog people really, but they very soon got used to us! Plenty of secure parking. Philip also owns the local pub (The Packhorse - 5 mins walk) and we would thoroughly recommend it for the outstanding food and service. The village shop (owned by ex-Spurs player Mike Dillon) is thriving, and the whole village is attractive and well-kept.

Both of our hosts were charming, amiable and very informative about local amenities. Everything you need for an overnight or even a longer stay is provided including a hairdryer and bathroom toiletries. We’ll certainly be hoping to make a revisit before too long.

A warm and inviting contemporary family home with outstanding views across some of Newmarket's finest stud lands. Close to town centre, Tattersalls and train station. We have a total of 5 bedrooms - please see our other listings.
A good-sized room on the first floor at the front of the house, with excellent view across paddocks and heath. The room has a double bed and television. A shared bath/shower room is situated nearby.
Newmarket is a thriving market town and the headquarters of horse-racing. You can enjoy the glamour and glitz of the Guineas festival and Ladies' Day as well as many other events. Our home is situated on the outskirts of the town but still only five minutes away by car and overlooks some of Newmarket's picturesque paddocks and heathland.
  • The car drove directly to the entrance of the hospital, and luggage storage was very convenient. The landlord and wife are both very warm and friendly. After learning that we need to wash the clothes, we helped wash them late, and after drying, they were stacked neatly in the clothes basket and we put them together. Breakfast is very rich, there are several types of milk cereal, bread, yogurt, juice and everything, it feels great! By the way, the opposite side of the house is a large lawn with green eyes. Horses can be seen occasionally. Unfortunately, we did not see it this time. This location is only about 23 kilometers from Cambridge University. It is a half-hour drive. It is recommended to stay ...

  • An amazing little place! Booked last minute when needed a night away from the hectic life of London! What a little gem this place is! Chris was great in providing clear instructions of finding the place! The barn itself was just perfect! Everything you need to make yourself feel at home! Clean. Comfy. Homely. 100% will be going back.

  • Fantastic accommodation, stylishly furnished and well-equipped. Perfect for Newmarket. Modern kitchen and en-suite shower room. Lots of essentials such as milk, oil, tea and coffee. Easy check-in and check-out. Didn’t get to meet Chris but communication was excellent. Thank you for a great stay.

Weavers is a Grade 11 listed thatched cottage of historical interest in Suffolk. In the late 1800’s Cadbury's, the famous chocolatier, chose just 12 cottages across Great Britain to feature on their finest chocolate boxes, of which Weavers is one. Close to Cambridge, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds, yet set in a rural location, it’s a lovely home to 'escape' to. Weavers is truly a house for all seasons. The summer roses in the garden are breathtaking and in the winter, there is nowhere more cosy!
*We currently have availability for New Years 2019. A 3 night minimum stay applies over this festive period* *A 10% DISCOUNT APPLIES FOR STAYS OF 7 NIGHTS OR MORE* Weavers is a timber framed thatched cottage, full of character. It’s quirky, charming and idyllic! In the summer it’s stunning with its beautiful garden and pretty flowers. In the Winter, there is nowhere more cosy or more quintessentially ‘English’ with the fires lit and a glass of wine in hand. It’s a place of total relaxation where you can go to unwind and that you don’t need, or may not want, to leave. If you fancy heading out and about, there are many lovely walks, pubs, tea rooms, antique shops and places to discover. It’s a house for all seasons. If you feel inspired, there is a grand piano in the living room and a guitar that guests are welcome to use. Outside is a great BBQ perfect for al fresco dining under the grape vines. The house looks out onto fields and there are often a couple of friendly horses to be found. Whilst in a very rural setting, if you want to enjoy some shopping, you can get to a town centre within 15 mins by car. Central London is only 90 mins away by road. So near, yet so far. Weavers feels as though you’ve walked into a little touch of yesteryear. We hope you love it as much as we do.
Very close to Newmarket, famous for Newmarket horse races and Tattersalls for the horse sales (12 mins). Bury St. Edmunds is only 15 minutes away and Cambridge 25 minutes. For guests visiting friends or relatives at Lakenheath, Mildenhall and Feltwell, the house is about a 25 minute drive. There are so many pretty villages to explore within easy driving distance, with tea rooms, antiques, restaurants and shops. The cottage is also well placed for Thetford forest and the Elveden Estate.
  • Kate and Edward’s place is homely and comfortable. The beautiful Tudor style is so well kept. It was one of our 30th birthdays and they left a lovely cake which was such a thoughtful gesture. We loved strolling through the fields over the road, and loved the BBQ and garden area. The home is clean, and the rooms are comfortable. We would go back in a flash!

    Caitlin2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderfully spacious cottage, which at the same time retained a warm and cosy feel. Plenty of space for the family to either come together, or spread out. Our musical child thoroughly enjoyed the piano, bass and guitar, while the media options kept everyone else entertained. Excellent communication from the hosts and housekeeper.

    Malcolm2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • It is quite a fantastic experience in living in such a historical property. Very well maintained, fully equipped with everything you needed in. Thanks to the host and the property is for sure highly recommended.

  • Amazing house and lovely area

    Nicholas2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic 2night stay , visited Bury St Edmunds & Lavenham during the day , and chilled at the cottage during the evenings. The cottage had a welcome basket, bread , cereal, chocolates, mince pies, and a couple of beers, milk , butter, and water in the fridge. Bedrooms all lovely with comfortable beds. Plenty of hot water, and lounge areas nice and cosy. Lounge was much larger than it looks in the photos, with wood burner, games surround sound tv and Netflix. Top Tip: Pay attention when being shown around and remember which light switches are for which lights as some are not positioned where you think they would be😂😂 Thoroughly recommend.

    Wayne2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • A great place for a family get together! Cosy yet spacious accomodation with 3 double bedrooms (ideal for us & our 2 married daughters). Easy parking with one space on the drive and room for 1 or 2 cars on the road right outside the cottage. Everything you would want from a traditional, thatched country cottage, but with a well equiped kitchen and utility room (large fridge/freezer, double oven range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer). Plenty of hot water (great for a lovely shower, or bath), central heating & a log burner, so you'll never be cold! We were all sad to leave so soon after only two nights. Next time we must stay longer!

    Paul2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic property in an excellent location to explore the local area. The house is so beautiful inside and out, it really felt like a special occasion place and a real priviledge to stay there. It is also very well equipped with everything you'll need for comfortable and luxurious break. Kate and edward's communication was also first rate and the housekeeper Wendy, who met us at the property was also lovely and gave us a thorough tour and also provided helpful tips on the area. A 5 star experience start to finish. Highly recommended.

  • The apartment is very stylishly furnished with great real wood flooring (otherwise you will often find carpeting in England). Jacky was super friendly. The apartment is very quiet and yet many sights such as Ely Cathedrale or Cambridge can be reached quickly (30 minutes). We highly recommend the accommodation and would love to come back again :-)

    Theresa2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We were blown away when Jackie showed us around in person. Beautiful conservatory leading to our own very stylish space with kitchenette, shower room and bedroom. Everything was immaculately clean, the bed made in the main room for my colleague (a bonus that the room is so big, his bed was hardly noticed as we sat watching telly in front of a roaring log burning stove). It was all lovely and cosy to come home to after trading at a Christmas show and we were so grateful to Jacky for leaving us more than enough fuel for the fire and lots of extras like cereals, milk and biccies. Beautiful place to stay, great communications and look forward to returning.

    Sarah2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place to stay, we loved the decor of the main accommodation and the beautiful conservatory. Comfortable beds and lovely bed linen made for a good nights sleep. Thanks to you Jacky for such friendly hospitality.

    Kat2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 2 night stay at Jacky's place which is beautifully decorated, very well equipped and with a spacious main room which was large enough for both children to sleep in but still have their own space. We were staying as we were going to a wedding at the nearby Granary Estates and Jacky's place is perfectly situated for this (within walking distance). It was lovely to have been left everything we needed for breakfast the next day. Highly recommend.

A cosy room in a 300 year old Cottage in Cheveley near Newmarket. Please note this room has separate access via the stairs in the kitchen and private access to the bathroom and separate shower room on the ground floor. Private off street parking and free wifi available. Tea and coffee facilities in room. Room includes one double bed. There is a very friendly dog living here.
A beautiful large room in a 300 year old thatched cottage. A double bed with a wardrobe and a chest of drawers for you to use. The wifi router is in this room so internet speed is very good. Additional triple room (with 1 double and 1 single) available for extra per night. There are tea and coffee facilities in the room but no meals are provided, however you are more than welcome to make use of the kitchen to prepare your own meals. This is an old house and in order to retain its charm we have refrained from making it very modern which we feel would damage its English charm. There are a number of rabbits, chickens, geese and ducks in the garden that previously children and adults have enjoyed looking at. The shower attachment in the upstairs bathroom is not working at the moment but there is a walk in shower room downstairs if you would prefer.
The house is situated in a lovely traditional English village, it is very quiet and peaceful. There is a small local shop five minutes walk away. The house is quite old and has an English charm to it, it's not very modern but has a great homely feeling. It is ten minutes by car to Newmarket where you can get to London in 1 hour 30 minutes. Or Cambridge in 30 minutes.
  • Very welcoming, I felt at ease as soon as arrived. It was a lovely homely home. Parking was good. I’d definitely stay again here.

Buses run through the town a couple times a day so you'll have to plan your trip ahead of time. Simon is a great host. He'll give you top privacy and if you need anything he'll be there. Check out the area research the place and if it's all good this studio is for you. Hope you find this helpful. J

Cosy cottage in beautiful surrounds close to Newmarket. The estate has an old kitchen garden, a lake and lovely walking paths through fields and woodland. It is a great country escape with lots of deer, birds and wildlife. Relaxation at its best. The area has lots of lovely restaurants, pubs, great sightseeing and very good horse racing. The cottage is 7 miles outside of Newmarket and 19 miles from Cambridge. Stansted is the closest airport. The cottage can sleep 3 people comfortably.
  • Stunning location, hidden away down a very long lane which acts as a good walk also. Colette has kept the decor simple but stylish in this cosy country cottage. A lovely host who is dedicated to make your stay a comfortable one.

A gem in the heart of the village. PO/shop, village green, 2 mins gastro pub; beautiful countryside walks. 3 miles Newmarket, home of horse racing, 30 mins Stansted. Close by Cambridge, Bury St. Edmunds. 1.5 hrs train Newmarket-London. Perfect location for visitors and vets to the Animal Health Trust, which is a 2 minute bus ride away. For a small charge I can also drive you there and back. I also offer to collect guests from Stansted airport. For this I charge less than a taxi.
This is a welcoming, peaceful cosy cottage in a beautiful, tranquil village; perfect for a relaxing weekend away, or a week or more to enjoy all that the surrounding area has to offer. Self-serve breakfast will be provided; cereals, toast & jams, tea & coffee. Daily newspapers can be found at the village shop, opening times Mon-Fri 6am-5.30pm, Sat 6am-1pm. I also have another double and single room on separate listings with Airbnb.
My house is situated in close proximity to a bustling village shop/PO, run by Mike and Kathy. It has a small street cafe and sells rolls and sandwiches made to order, all made with locally sourced produce. Also hot pies, sausage rolls, scones, or a full English! Locals gather here for their morning coffee or a read of the newspaper. Visitors to the village are always made to feel welcome here. My house is opposite a park, (play equipment for children), and a picturesque village green. The popular award winning 3 rosette gastro pub, The Packhorse Inn, is a 2 minute walk away and nestled next to the Green and close to the river that runs through the village. Moulton and the surrounding rolling countryside is popular with cyclists - many gathering at the shop for refreshments. There is cycle hire at Thetford Forest, a 20 minute drive away. If you are a keen race goer, there is top class flat racing in Newmarket during the summer months, including Friday evening racing followed by a music concert. Other local places to visit include The National Racing Horse Museum, Newmarket, The English National Stud, Tattersalls - Europe's leading Bloodstock Auctioneers. If you are an early riser, race horses can be seen in training on Newmarket Heath, a 2 minute drive away. The beautiful cathedral town of Bury St. Edmunds is a 15 minute drive, with the picturesque and historic towns of Lavenham and Long Melford to explore close by - with a leisurely walk and browse of antique shops or a spot of afternoon tea. Cambridge is approximately 25-30 mins drive to see the magnificent architecture of the colleges, visit The Fitzwilliam Museum or go punting on the river, from where you will see many of the beautiful colleges from a different perspective. Cambridge also offers an abundance of shopping!
  • We had a one night stay for a wedding we were attending in the village. Iona was the perfect host, welcoming and helpful with information to help us find where we needed to go. The bed was really comfortable and the breakfast was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for more!

  • This is an absolute gem of a place. Iona is a lovely host, who welcomed us with open arms and truly made us feel like part of the family (we even got to take her sweet little dog Whisky for a beautiful walk). The house is homely and beautifully decorated, providing us with a perfect base for a weekend racing at Newmarket. An amazing Full English breakfast set us up for the day too! Iona even booked us a table at the award winning Packhorse Inn on out first night there, and arranged taxis for us to the racecourse. Nothing was too much trouble. This was an absolutely lovely place to stay and we will definitely be back. Thank you so much Iona. xxx

  • I am not a hugely experienced user of Airbnb but following our stay with Iona I will struggle to find a better host! The room and bed were gorgeous - it was a 'home from home' experience and the breakfast was simply exceptional. Allowing me to drop off my bike, ahead of our trip, so that I could cycle home was really appreciated and showed how accommodating Iona is. Thank you - and we look forward to our next stay with you.

  • From the moment we arrived at Karyn's home, she made us feel very welcome. There is private off-road parking and you have a separate entrance to the main house which makes it feel like you're staying in a home away from home. We were able to order in food and eat in her kitchen which is rare for us when working away - the breakfast is also very lovely! The rooms are very big with lots of space and they are super quiet and comfortable. Having stayed in almost every hotel and B&B in Newmarket, I can honestly say that Karyn's is definitely the place to stay!

  • Karyn’s place is amazing and both bedrooms are beautifully presented, clean and have lovely accessible en-suite bathrooms. We travelled with our 14 month old, Karyn made us all feel very welcome and was able to provide us with all we needed to keep our little boy comfortable. The toys she had available were fab, she provided a travel cot and catered for him during breakfast too. Any questions I asked Karen were quickly answered and her hospitality was amazing. Breakfast is an added bonus and we had a wonderful stay. Very convenient for attending a friends wedding nearby.

With a village shop and local pubs it provides for everyday needs and is ideally located to explore the surrounding Suffolk towns and villages. Equidistant between the towns of Bury St. Edmunds and Newmarket, 8 miles, visitors can enjoy a day out at the races, a visit to the cathedral and abbey gardens or enjoy a play in the Georgian playhouse built in 1819. Also within easy driving distance are the picturesque villages of Lavenham and Long Melford and the town of Sudbury. There are several National Trust properties in the area including Ickworth House, 6 miles, and Kentwell Hall, 7 miles. Also less than half an hour’s drive is the city of Cambridge with its famous colleges, botanic gardens, museums and galleries. Horse riding and golf nearby. Shop ½ mile, pub 600 yards. • Maria’s house is the perfect space for any get together. The outdoor space is spacious and private, and there is plenty of seating to enjoy a warm summer evening on the patio. The house is a lovely English cottage with all the features. The house is well equipped with everything you need, making for a stress free country weekend. Highly recommended

  • Old High Hall is a charming, cosy and comfortable cottage set in the beautiful county of Suffolk.

  • Maria's place is perfect: a truly stunning property of genuine and rare historic character, profoundly charming, sensitively preserved, wonderfully comfortable. The accommodation is generous and the location and environs ideal. We had a fabulous long weekend there and I sincerely hope to return. Add to that excellent and responsive communications between us and both Maria and her housekeeper, and, to top it all off, the fact that it is really excellent value, and I can only give it my very strongest recommendation. Wonderful.
