Places to stay in Howqua
Historic Cottage in an idyllic setting. The cottage is only metres away from the iconic Howqua River. Unique features with absolute luxury. It is small and intimate, perfect for the romantic getaway or a fisherman's weekend.
  • Andrew’s place was outstanding, the location is so lovely being right on the river and the amenities were first class. We took our dogs who were more than welcome and they had an absolute ball. There were thoughtful touches all throughout the cottage that make for the most pleasant stay and Andrew was a lovely host. We would love to come back another time.

  • The Miners Cottage was luxurious with a lovely big spa, wood fire, and high quality linen. This was our second visit and we really enjoyed our stay again. The setting is especially lovely as it’s beside the Howqua river.

  • A stunning getaway. Your own private cottage (which is well appointed), amongst the trees and river. The Oak out the back is particularly spectacular. We will be back.

  • My hubby myself and my two doggos had the best time ever! Loved everything about the place. The cottage has this rustic look with the most gorgeous cosy room inside with jacuzzi. You can simply enjoy a glass of wine lying in your bathtub and admire the beautiful scenery from the window. The sound of the river flowing, birds chirping and the stars in the sky at night is simply priceless. Thank you Andrew for being a wonderful host and maintaining this place so well. I would love to come back:)

  • Sometimes all you need is a little luxury, a little tranquillity, the sound of running water to revitalise the soul. This wonderfully renovated historic miners cottage is a real gem; perfect for summer and winter escapes. Absolutely loved our 3 nights at River Downs - and would recommend to anyone that enjoys getting back in touch with nature with a splash of comfort and luxury

  • Such a cute little cottage in a beautiful, tranquil location. Really enjoyed our stay.

  • This cottage is just the best- it’s cozy, stylishly furnished and really well equipped, with a good kitchen, nice sheets and fluffy towels. Beautifully located by the river, the gardens are carefully cared for and the whole property is just beautiful in the most idyllic setting. You can tell that a lot of love and care goes in to care for this whole property by Andy. A perfect break from the city to just completely switch off, we just loved every minute spent in and around the cottage- by the fire; under the oak tree by the river; and taking walks in the nearby surrounds. Our dog loved her stay just as much as we did and was just so happy running around the garden exploring. Can’t wait to come back.

  • Our stay at River Downs was absolutely perfect. It was a great place to switch of and spend some quality time as a family. The kitchen is superbly equipped and the house was super comfortable. The setting is gorgeous and it has a really great swimming hole. Great place to take our dog, he loved it just as much as us. We would stay again in a heart beat.

    Molly2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew was a great host, replies quickly to emails, the place was clean, tidy, quiet. Surroundings were magnificent, great place to relax and unwind. Fishing, swimming also great.

    Angela2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing time here. The only problem was that it wasn’t long enough. The place was incredibly clean and in the most peaceful location next to the river. Andrew was an excellent host, as was Bobby the Border Collie. We are already planning our return to Riverdowns. Thanks Andrew!

    Rachel2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Picture perfect! Amazing house, beautiful location and a great host who was quick to respond to any question or request. I highly recommend it!

    Lorenzo2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay exceeded our expectations. The property was stunning and you can’t get much better than waking up with a view from your bed. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a get away out of the city to relax.

    Lizzy2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • A charming cottage in an exquisite setting. The cottage is very thoughtfully furnished, spotlessly clean and has a lovely outlook. We had a fantastic time wandering along the river, lazing on the veranda and playing card games with the kids. I couldn’t recommend Andrew’s place more highly and we hope to come back again.

    Kylie2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay, the house is perfect for a family of 4, and the location is just spectacular, an incredible view of the river and a heap of wildlife. Thanks for having us, we will be back!

Comfortable and eclectic, this self contained one bedroom studio (one of three) has been built almost entirely from recycled and repurposed materials. Located at Alpine Ridge, in the heart of the high country and just 4 kilometres from the base of Mt Buller, it is perfectly located for exploring this pristine area throughout the whole year. The Mill Inn Restaurant is just metres away. Suitable for those who love the mountains and everything that goes with it. Studios 1 and 3 also available
The Studio has been recently refurbished. It has a kitchenette with small fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, rice cooker, electric frypan and portable hotplate plus ample crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. There is also a small selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and condiments provided. And if you don't feel like cooking, the Mill Inn Restaurant and Bar is right next door serving traditional alpine dishes and house made pasta. The rustic style bathroom contains a shower and toilet and a heated towel rail. The bedroom has a double bed with the ability to sleep an additional person on a single bed in the loft (via a timber ladder). There is a TV and DVD player and reverse cycle air-conditioning to keep you cosy in winter and cool in summer. The views are magnificent - sit out on the balcony with a glass of local wine and view Mt Buller in the distance and the abundant wildlife literally on your doorstep. Linen and towels are provided.
There is an abundance of things to do in the area. The alpine areas of Mt Buller and Mt Stirling are only a short 20 minute drive away. If you enjoy mountain biking, bushwalking, great wine and food there is plenty for you to enjoy here.
  • Perfect location for me at the bottom of the mountain and super close to local communities. Loved the studio with its little extras. The balcony was great for a home cooked breakfast. Will stay again, highly recommend. Pete was always available for any questions about the area or just for good old chat.

    Craig2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • I would certainly recommend staying at Pete’s place. From the outset, the communication was quick. The location was excellent being just out of Mt. Buller. The place itself was clean and tidy and well set out with everything you need, as evidenced in the photos. Pete gives plenty of advice on things to do in the area.

    Peter2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and comfortable. Impressed with how much effort Pete has made to make the places part of the environment.

    Linda2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful place! The lovely renovated kitchen & bathroom was well equipped, with thoughtful touches like shampoo/conditioner, moisturizer ample dishwashing detergent etc. The entire space was peaceful and relaxing; the big glass panels and windows brings you out into the outdoors, plus there was a cute little balcony, in which parrots and a cockatoo visited daily:) The whole place was truly such a treat! Loved it! Peter was also an attentive host. One piece of advice though (& nothing to do with Peter’s lovely country studio): ensure you have Telstra up in this area, as I had zero service with Optus bar SOS! (My gf, however, who arrived a day after had full service with her Telstra) . It made it tricky for me to stay in contact with my biking friends to make final plans, & my family. I also had sporadic service on Mt Buller too when mountain biking, prompting me to finally switch over to Telstra!

    Michelle2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay. Great host. Great vacation!

    Nikita2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully kept studio apartments. Very clean. Stylish design. Stunning location. Much cheaper than paying mountain top prices. Studio made from recycled materials for that extra special added charm. Very tame rainbow parrot landed on balcony every night. Would definitely recommend. Perfect for cycling up Buller. Or can cycle mountain bike up and do Epic trail and finish up very close to studio. 10/10

    Simon2019-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved to stay at one of Peter's studios, so close to nature with amazing views, very clean and well equipped, and what a delicious moca! Would like to come back.

My place is close to Mount Buller, Lake Eildon, Victorian High Country. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
Black Horse Park is an historic property first settled in the 1850s by George and Arthur Desmond and located on 20 acres of gently undulating pasture in the prestigious Boorolite Valley of the Victorian High Country. Enriched with age old European Oaks, Elms, Poplars,Liquid Ambers' and Pin Oaks, the property is also close to Mansfield State Forest. With the property established in the 1850's, the Black Horse Park Homestead is currently undergoing extensive renovations to restore its rich and fascinating history and is also available for holiday accommodation. *We also have the recently renovated Pin Oak Chapel moved to Black Horse Park in the 1940s and originally used for stabling the horses and the Elm Cabin available for accommodation*( Please feel free to ask for more details ) The Pioneer Hut is the original kitchen that was used back in the 1850s for the Desmond family who were the founders of the property and were amongst the first Europeans to settle in the district. The building has been tastefully renovated to retain the historic feel of a bygone era and will give all who stay here a totally unique experience. A rustic stone and cast iron fireplace is the centre piece of the building and will ensure you are kept you warm and cosy. The Pioneers Hut is fully self contained and comes equipped with a convection oven / grill / microwave oven, refrigerator, all cooking dishes, utensils, crockery, cutlery etc, 32 inch flat screen TV / DVD player, heater, electric blanket, all linen, pillows, towels and has a BBQ and outside fireplace as well. We also include for your convenience Tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread, juice, eggs and other breakfast condiments. With all the modern day creature comforts at your disposal and still retaining the unique old world charm you are sure to enjoy your time in this gorgeous hut. Black Horse Park is centrally and ideally located; 15 mins to Mansfield township 20 mins to Mt Buller 10 mins to Goughs Bay 15 mins to Macs Cove, Howqua Inlet and Jamieson. While in the high country why not pack a picnic lunch and take a leisurely drive to the King Valley wine region, stopping at Powers Lookout along the way, it's simply breathtaking. When you arrive at Whitfield (approx. 45 mins.) you're biggest decision will be which winery to go to, there's about ten in the area...... Oh just try them all! Black Horse Park is an all year round holiday location. The area caters for: Snow skiing / snowboarding at Mt Buller, fishing / swimming at the Delatite River (just 2mins away), horse riding in Mansfield State Forest / Victorian High Country, mountain biking / cycling at the rail trail and Mt Buller ( We have bikes and helmets available for hire) four wheel driving and exploring, golf at Mansfield Golf Club or just enjoy a gourmet platter and a glass of fine local wine at one of the local wineries. Lake Eildon is only 10 minutes away so why not bring your boat, we have heaps of room to park it safely. Goughs Bay has three great concrete ramps so you can always access the lake no matter what the water level is. Besides all the usual water sport activities you should try the bars / restaurants on the waters edge, just pull up, tie up and enjoy. These are just a few of the wonderful activities on offer. If you would like to bring you're horse and ride the vast expanses of the Victorian High Country, it's on our doorstep, with endless tracks to ride you'll be amazed at the breathtaking scenery and awesome riding trails. We have excellent horse friendly paddocks and four post and rail yards with water and washing facilities and plenty of room to park the float. You don't even have to bring your own hay as we have plenty of good quality grass hay here you can buy at a very reasonable price. Your horse can stay for $10 per night or if you are unable to bring one don't worry we can arrange local horses and guides for you. During your stay at Black Horse Park, feel free to wander the property, fish for Red Fin, Rainbow trout and Yabbies or even have a swim in our large clean dam, sip on a glass of you're favourite wine, read a book or just have an afternoon nap. We hope to hear from you soon. Best Regards Rob and Helen Hart
A very quiet and peaceful rural setting to chill out and relax, or you can be very adventurous and participate in the many activities the area has to offer.
  • Beautiful place, wonderful hosts and terrific location. Right near Delatite Winery, near by some beautiful walks (like Howqua).

  • What an absolutely great place! Beautiful historic charm with all the modern amenities you need. Two adorable little dogs to boot :-)

    Greg2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, secluded, character-full cabin, kitted out with all mod cons. Excellent canine welcoming committee. Great location for various activities, and close enough to the surprisingly buzzy town of Mansfield for a nice meal, a coffee and cake, or a craft beer.

    Andrew2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful and clean. A taste of country life.

    Gustav2020-01-01T00:00:00Z

  • One of my favourite experiences on airbnb. The location and this little home are beautiful. The home was tidy and incredibly comfortable and warm. Close to Mt Buller (where we snowboarded) and close to Mansfield. We loved the little touches of flowers and the visits from the dogs and cat. Highly recommend staying here!

  • A cozy home away from home, you'll love your stay here too. Incredibly comfortable beds and linen, well stocked fridge and cupboards with generous little hamper on arrival - David even lit the fire so it really was a warm welcome. Beautiful surrounding landscapes. We bought our two young girls with us and we were entertained with plenty of board games and books in the cupboard . Don't hesitate to book your stay - you will love it too.

  • This is a beautiful home with lovely views. We've made some wonderful memories with friends and family. The place allows you to disconnect and relax with family and close ones. The gardens and the pasture are very beautiful to take in. We enjoyed sitting outside and relaxing with our family as well as having our breakfast together at the dining table. Do not pass up an opportunity to visit Urrimbirra. Thank you David and Christine.

    Amanda2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing to stay in for the weekend. The instructions were very clear, good communication, the house was kept clean, bed was especially nice with an electric blanket, having a fire in the house gave it a perfect lodge like feel. There were small touches that we found very thoughtful and considerate. We'd definitely stay again. Thank you David and Christine. :)

  • A lovely place to stay. Looking through the window upstairs from the bed, you can see the moon rise above the trees. The sun rises just there too that gently bathes you in the morning light. Clean and well presented. Full of character, we'll definitely try to stay here again.

    Reidun2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • You would not guess the quirky well thought out touches this place has. We loved our stay at the loft and the comfy retro chairs to watch tv in after a hard day’s riding! A lovely place to self cater- well equipped and not far from Buller and Mansfield. Thanks Pete!

  • Pete's place is set in an idyllic spot amidst the trees and hills at the foot of Mount Buller. There is a river flowing across the road from the unit, which you can hear peacefully flowing. The unit has some really nice design touches and is a unique, clean and beautiful dwelling. Would have no hesitate recommending Pete's place.

I could have spent days laying in the bed and looking out the overhead window. Pete is a really nice guy, and all of his information was really helpful. Will definitely return.

Howes Creek Town Hall is a historic Mechanics Institute, 15 Minutes from Mansfield, 5 minutes from Goughs Bay (Lake Eildon) and 45 minutes from the top of Mt Buller. The B&B has a separate entrance, with a loft bedroom and open plan kitchenette and living room. Our property is surrounded by hundreds of picturesque acres of farmland, hills and mountains. It is a still, breath of fresh air away from hectic city life. Gaze at the stars as you drift off to sleep and wake up and listen to the birds.
We are a young family who strive towards balanced work/ life commitments and who are striving towards a more self sustaining lifestyle. We have a large veggie garden, bake our own bread and are learning the art of preserving. There are fantastic local restaurants and great outdoor recreation activities close at hand (mountain biking, skiing, boating, paddling, hiking, rail trail or just enjoying the local surrounds)
Howes Creek farm is a lovely little farm just down the road that serves simple food and wine. They are doing dinners on a Friday night but be sure to book.
  • Suzanne and Paul’s place was lovely. They were communicative hosts and we had all the info needed. The apartment was clean and well equipped. As the host’s house shares a wall with the apartment, I did get woken up by the sound of them walking up/down the stairs in the morning so if you’re a sensitive sleeper (I am) then I’d suggest earplugs!

    Louise2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

  • We went for our honeymoon to Kevington and we LOVED our stay there! Great coffee provided. Thoughtful flowers and note to us. Homemade local jam and berry coulis was given to us and we enjoyed it so much! We had fun palavering on parts of the river. We loved fishing and swimming. We loved the nature! We loved how homely it was. Communication was amazing and there’s just such a precessions there. Thankyou very much!

  • You really couldn't want for anything here. They've thought of everything you could possibly need! Samantha and Kyle's place is stunning and the most gorgeous retreat for a weekend away or better still a whole week if you can! My husband and I and our dogs had a fabulous four night stay over Cup Weekend with a mixture of walks, fishing, reading books by the river at the bottom of the garden, browsing the markets in the nearby towns and bingeing on Netflix. Nodding off to sleep with the sound of the river and waking up to beautiful native birdsong was just amazing. We'll be back!

    Jane2019-11-05T00:00:00Z

This little house is perfect for two, guests tell me the queen bed is very comfy! The sofa bed is roomy enough for one extra or a couple of kids ($20 per extra person) The house is tucked up in my backyard, it's private, but we'll be in our own home nearby for anything you may require. The house does not have an airconditioner, just a pedestal fan.
The one bedroom has the comfy queen bed, bedside tables and lamps, side table and mirror. The main room offers you a double sofa, big tv, heater, kitchenette with sink, fridge, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and microwave. The spacious bathroom has a heated towel rail, large shower, toilet and vanity. A new addition has just been completed - you now have your own deck with bbq!
The neighborhood is quiet, however it is residential therefore you may hear neighbours lives...i.e. backyard games or music.
  • A beautifully appointed space, which we would highly recommend if you are heading to Mansfield.

The attention to detail is amazing, with a large bath, great shower (sound system in the bathroom!) and a super comfy bed with beautiful views. The animals made my stay, so friendly and loving. Fantastic and quick communication from the hosts and the breakfast was a great touch. Can’t recommend this place enough, will be back!

My newly renovated, pitched roof bungalow cabin overlooks the Eildon Valley. Styled with clean lines and rich colours, Top Of The Town is perfect for couples getaway. I have recently renovated the courtyard and added an outdoor spa bath. This space is perfect for sunbathing, reading a book and enjoying the spectacular view.
My guesthouse is a one bedroom open plan studio space with a kitchenette and bathroom. The property has a great view of the valley (especially from the outdoor spa). We back onto state forest, where I regularly walk my dog through the cool mossy bush lands 50m from my back door step. .. It's really beautiful. Hikes and mountain bike tracks are a stones throw away. The courtyard is LUSH. Its a perfect spot for a morning yoga session, relaxing with a book and soaking up the Vitamin D! I have designed the space to provide guests with optimum privacy, collect the best of the morning sun and be shaded in the afternoon. I recommend sipping some delicious wine or a fruity cocktail in the sunshine or soak the night away under a million stars. It's not uncommon to see kangaroos, foxes, wombats, echidna and deer in the early morning and evening. We are a short stroll from the local swimming pool and town shops. Enjoy Lake Eildon! renown for its excellent water skiing and fishing. The Goulburn river is not to be missed. Kayaks, SUP boards and picnic boats can be hired on the lake. Take a drive up to Pinanger lookout (do not miss this - look it up) or tour Skyline road. If you are travelling from Melbourne - make sure you come via the Yarra Valley. Don't miss the Yarra Yalley world class wineries, Yarra Valley Dairy cheese is to die for and of course the Chocolate Factory. Marvel at the beauty of the mountain ash and ancient rainforest in the "Black Spur" on Maroondah Hwy. Beechworth Bakery in Healesville have delicious pies and pastries too. The space is best suits couples but can accomodate a small family or 3 adults who don’t mind close quarters via the click down sofa.
What do I love about my neighbourhood? Epic sunsets, watching the moon creep over the skyline, frogs croaking in the evening, hundreds of birds of different species and the smell of eucalyptus in the clean country air!
  • Lauren was a great host, everything was super clean! I highly recommend Eildon and THE TOP OF THE TOWN as a destination! Don't miss out the hot tub with a stunning mountain view

The spa bath was great - two of us fit in easily - and the views and peaceful surroundings from outside make this place what it is. Lauren welcomed us on our arrival and was quick to reply throughout our stay. Overall we loved it and we would love to head back anytime!

  • We had an amazing stay at Top of the Town. It was perfect for our getaway from Melbourne and Lauren was a superb host who gave us lots of local knowledge. The outdoor spa was also great as a cool off on the hotter days we had while in Eildon. Highly recommend.

Comfortable and cosy. Stay at this beautiful bungalow with terrific views of Mt Buller. It's a short walk to the main street of Mansfield with lots of cafes, pubs, restaurants and shopping. My husband and I live on the property in the main house and can be of assistance if needed but otherwise you'll be left to yourselves to soak up the views and enjoy the fire pit with a hot or cold beverage of your choice. We provide a continental brekkie including tea and coffee.
We live on a quiet street that backs onto a lovely green space that's used mainly for dog walking and people wanting to get their daily exercise.
  • We loved our stay! The bungalow is quiet and cosy and nicely styled. The hosts were lovely and very friendly and we even had a cute little breakfast set for us in the room. The place is very clean and is in a good location close to the centre of Mansfield. Thank you!

Intimate for 2, comfortable for 10. The Paradise Retreat Lakehouse is situated on the banks of Lake Eildon in Jamieson. We have tried to fill the house with quality items to make your stay more homely. Great for water sports on Lake Eildon or skiing on Mt Buller which is just a short drive away. Can sleep up to 10 people in 4 bedrooms - 3 bedrooms with either king or queen beds and one bedroom with 4 singles.
The house has a good sized kitchen with all the utensils to you need to either make your own meals or enjoy the delights of the area. The house is equipped with 2 bathrooms and more importantly 2 toilets (on upstairs and one downstairs).
The Jamieson township is a short drive away from the Paradise Retreat Lakehouse. This means that you can have privacy with facilities not far away. Jamieson is on Lake Eildon and also at the junction of the Jamieson and Goulburn rivers. Jamieson is rich in gold mining history.

  • Lovely large house, and beautifully appointed bedrooms. The large deck was partially covered, so perfect for both sun and shade lovers! Lots of outdoor furniture for just chilling out and looking at the amazing view. Watching the stars at night was especially nice.

  • This is a great house, perfect for small or large groups. There were 8 of us in total but we weren't on top of each other. The living area is large but cosy with a fireplace and heaps of couches, chairs and armchairs. No doubt the deck in summer is a great spot to lounge in the warmer weather. The house was spotless, lovely sheets and towels, 2 bathrooms, kitchen fully stocked with cookware and all in a beautiful and peaceful location. Even though the lake was empty, the outlook is still magical.

    Corinne2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great Place

    Sam2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a lot more than what you see in the photos. We were there for two nights and didn't even leave the house. The deck overlooking the lake is amazing and we got to hand feed a friendly kookaburra in the morning. The fire place is pretty cosy and kept all of downstairs warm, kitchen is pretty much stack with everything you need for a great weekend away!

    Heshan2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, beautiful location, the lake was dried up when we were there but still stunning views and a great place to relax. Plenty of space in the house, very well equipped, and fantastic for our daughter and dog having all that space to run and play in the garden out the front.

  • Great space for a large group. We had 6 adults, 3 kids and a baby and were very comfortable. There was no water at the rear of the property (which Nick had informed us of) when we stayed but still a great spot.

Located on beautiful Lake Eildon this 8 hectare property is a great retreat in summer and winter for a family or group of friends. Only 45 minutes to Mt Buller . Boat access to Lake Eildon in summer months, for water skiing and fishing, the best of both worlds. As the Lake is down to 40% we do not have direct access to the Lake at the moment However If fishing is your caper there is still plenty of water around to put in your tinnie.
Only 45 minutes drive form Mt Buller, the winter beauty of the high country is easily accessible and perfect for snow skiers or snow play Come and meet our friendly donkey Tiger who loves eating carrots. Jack and Max our dogs loved to be patted. We also have 3 Alpacas who roam around the property
Quiet neighbourhood with a local play ground opposite property.

COUPLES AND FAMILIES ONLY - No large Groups please This family friendly 3 bedroom cottage is located in Jamieson an easy stroll to the beautiful Jamieson River and township. Set up for family entertaining or just hanging out with friends the huge back deck has a large stone fire place and out door lounge as well as a big BBQ and pizza oven.
This property has been set up for a family. Two bedrooms have queen size beds and the third is set up as kids room with bunks and an additional single bed. Boxes of toys and the kids room also has its own TV with DVD player. Master bedroom also has a TV. The house sits just back off the river however there is no direct river access from the property. Just a two minute walk down the road though is the bridge swimming hole and the best place to have BBQ's and hang out by the river. The back yard is fully fenced and is a great spot to watch the kids run around. Inside is all completely renovated and has a Euro wood heater and reverse cycle split system. This is strictly no groups of more than 4 adults - there are lovely neighbours so no noisy parties.
The town has a great pub, general store and beautiful cafe or we travel by car to the Kevington Hotel.
  • Absolutely beautiful place. We loved the mountain view from backyard and the cozy sitting on the deck with fire and music. The river is literally 2 minutes walk and the town is just friendly and peaceful. Totally enjoyed our long weekend there definitely worth the driving:)

  • A beautifully furnished home with an amazing outdoor area complete with a modern family-sized bbq and large fireplace!

    Michael2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Hill View House. Was great for our 2 yr old daughter, lots of kids toys to play with. The indoor and outdoor fireplaces really added to the experience. Was okay for our dog, however, she nearly got out through gaps in the fence planks so not great for dogs who might try and escape! Loved the deck outside, great for BBQ's.

The colours of Autumn make this the perfect destination of choice to take in the foothills of the Victorian ski fields or amazing local gourmet food and wine. Margie was a wonderful host and went above and beyond to assist our every need. A wonderful destination only a short drive from Melbourne. Mel & Chris

  • This is a little Jamieson gem. Very nice quaint accommodation amongst three other cottages, about a 60 second walk to the winding river (can actually hear it trickle from the distance). Good bedding, great water pressure and hot water, all the cooking necessities, a great porch to "chat" with the kookaburras and other birds. Cozy fireplace to boot to keep you warm in the cold of the Victorian Alps.

  • This is a fantastic place to stay. Close to the centre of Mansfield but with a wonderful rural feel. Beautiful and comfortable rooms, so much light and lovely views. Great host and very generous. Wonderful for a weekend stay.

  • Great location, very much feel at home, living spaces are massive and a really comfortable bed. Lots of luxurious touches and the provisions for breakfast are enough to almost make them last you all day. A quality accomodation in a really peaceful setting

    Geoff2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful country setting, close enough to Mansfield to be handy but far enough away to feel like you're no where near civilization! The hosts Colyn, Peter and their pup Polly are lovely to deal with and couldn't do enough to help. I would go back again in a heartbeat.

    Stuart2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We have just spent 5 days in one of the nicest Airbnb’s we have stayed in. Colyn left generous provisions for breakfast and added many other special touches throughout the cottage for our enjoyment. We enjoyed our daily chat with Colyn and Peter, (along with their beautiful young Labrador pup Polly), who gave us great advise on what to do in the area. The cottage overlooked a dam with surrounding rolling hills. It was so peaceful enjoying breakfast out on the back deck each morning, listening to the birds. Air conditioner appreciated on 2 of the very hot days. Close to town centre, has everything you need. We highly recommend this place to stay, you won’t be disappointed.

    Kim2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We spent the weekend at Middle Camp and were blown away by the location, hospitality and gorgeousness of the cottage and all it had to offer. It was sparkling clean with generous breakfast and amenities. I highly recommend this stay.

    Emlyn2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful home, inside and out. Country at its best. Wonderful host, great provisions, although so many good options for food in town we found it hard to choose between eating in or out (we did a bit of both). Colyn is a gracious, warm host and hope you get to experience this lovely space.

Backing onto the gorgeous Jamieson River, this four-bedroom home is the perfect choice for a fun family vacation with friends or an intimate getaway for two. A great place to base yourself for fun by the Jamieson and Goulburn rivers, water sports and fishing on Lake Eildon or skiing at Mt Buller.
Take advantage of the massive back deck overlooking the rear lawn which leads all the way down to the Jamieson River. It has an ultra-spacious 10-person outdoor setting and 6-burner BBQ to make the most of the those lazy afternoons and evenings. Otherwise, you can take some drinks and marshmallows down the back steps to the fire pit (note - please check for fire ban days). Inside, there's a spacious, open-plan living/dining area with large, comfy couches. In the winter, the wood burner will keep you toasty warm and in summer, if you're not outside enjoying the river, the reverse-cycle split system airconditioner will keep things cool. The space can sleep up to 9 guests, bedroom 1 has a king bed and bedrooms 2 and 3 have queens. The kids bedroom has a double and a single bed as well as a cot. All beds are fitted with Sheridan sheets and soft Sheridan bath towels are also provided for our guests. There's something for everyone - plenty of books, a large TV and DVD, games and tubes for floating down the river! Located in the heart of the Jamieson township, you can walk two minutes up the road to access all the town's amenities including Deb's Jamieson Cafe, the Jamieson General Store & Newsagency and Jamieson's Courthouse Hotel. Just a short drive away, or a 30-minute walk, is the newly refurbished Jamieson Brewery & Grill. We can't lie, the house is not the prettiest one on the street, but once you step inside and out onto the back deck, then down to the river, we promise you won't be disappointed - it truly is a case of don’t judge a book by its cover! • A lovely, comfortable home to have a family holiday with our 3 adult children, their partners and our grandson. Just loved the location! The river virtually in our backyard. We enjoyed being surrounded by nature - the rosellas, kookaburras, ducks and even a platypus! The boys tried their luck at fishing... The girls enjoyed the short walk around the beautiful, tranquil little town of Jamieson. A great time had by all :)

    Sharyn2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at the house backing on to the river in the heart of Jamieson. Great to have the indoor and outdoor fires while star gazing into the clear country skies. Good pub and cafe around the corner, brewery was fun and local winery of one our favourites. Such a nice weekender a couple hours out of Melbourne.

Lots of walks down to the beautiful Jamieson River. Market at the caravan park. Dinner at the Courthouse Pub and a long lazy lunch at the Jamieson Brewery along with purchases of their awesome beer to take home. The magnificent trees and the abundance of bird life not to mentioned the singing cicadas make this place special. So looking forward to another family trip to this wonderful house and location.

  • Very prompt response when communicating. The place was very clean and seeing the many little touches to the interior work goes into it. Overall very thoughtful. The place is quite different to usual accomodation and with certain bits you felt thrown back in time. Definitely rank it as a special experience. Thank you.

  • Like us, I think you will be very pleasantly surprised with the accommodation and a great host. It was very near the Goulburn River and the town shops. Lovely walks close by too. There were plenty of beds, towels, kitchen utensils and bread/butter on hand for breakfast, as well as a litre of milk. DVDs, games and books were on hand too. The garden was absolutely beautiful and well worth a walk around. I would certainly recommend Carl's accommodation should you be in the area - and you should be!

Set on the banks of the beautiful Goulburn River, the cabin is ideal for a romantic escape, family getaway or weekend with friends. You can choose to do a multitude of activities in the area or just relax by the river in summer or by the fire in winter.
The spacious open plan living and dining area has cathedral ceilings, a fire-place made from locally sourced slate, a cosy wood-heater, a huge comfy couch and large dining table. Relics from the gold-mining days adorn the walls and the 70's touches are a nod to the era in which the cabin was built. I wish to provide guests with a ‘technology detox' so there is no TV and no wifi. There is mobile service only with Telstra. Music can be played on the Bose sound system using a device pre-loaded with music such as an iPhone. There is a large trunk full of games and jigsaw puzzles suitable for adults and plenty of books and magazines. Floor to ceiling windows offer a lovely view across the lawn to the river and a glass door opens onto an expansive deck complete with comfy couch and arm chairs. The perfect spot to curl up and enjoy a morning cuppa or an afternoon drink and just enjoy the view. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need and has a walk in pantry. An espresso machine (BYO beans), a selection of teas, Vittoria coffee for the plunger or dripolater, sugar and pantry essentials such as oil, vinegars, sauces, salt and pepper, herbs and spices are provided. There are two large fridges, one with a small freezer. There is an electric oven and stove-top as well as a microwave. There is a separate toilet and spacious bathroom with shower over the bath. Locally made 'Dindi Natural' hand & body wash is provided. There are two bedrooms one with a queen bed, the second with a double bed and a set of bunks. Woollen quilts, a range of hypo-allergenic pillows, luxurious 1000 thread count sheets, quality quilt covers and towels are provided. Electric blankets are on the beds in the cooler months. WOODEN TENT There is the option for up to 2 people to sleep in a comfy wooden tent beside the river. There is still a maximum of 6 guests per booking, and use of the tent must be pre-arranged There are outdoor chairs, sun loungers, hammocks a yoga mat and an outdoor dining table. Choose to cook on the large gas BBQ/oven, or cook on the wood-fired bbq (fire-ban restrictions permitting)
The cabin is set on the banks of the Goulburn River surrounded by state forest, a 10 minute drive from Jamieson and 55 minutes from the base of Mt Buller. The historic Kevington Hotel just a 5 minute walk up the road offers great pub meals, a pool table and at times, has live entertainment on the purpose built stage beside the river. Jameson is a 10 minute drive where you will find a well stocked general store, cafe, pub, tennis court for hire, laundry facilities, a local history museum, the Jamieson Brewery and Grill, and the Jamieson Berry Farm. There are lots of historic buildings in town and there are maps for self guided walks at the cabin. Apart from fishing for trout (you must have a licence) and swimming at your back door, the local area offers horse riding, snow sports at Mt Buller as well as cross country skiing, fishing and water sports on nearby lake Eildon. The boat ramp at Howqua is just 15 minutes drive away. The Howqua Caravan Park rents canoes and stand up paddle boards to use on the lake. You could visit one of the many local wineries and the farmers market is every 4th Saturday of the month in the main street of Mansfield. Pack sturdy walking shoes for bushwalking, there are walks of all levels, either along the bitumen road or along the numerous 4wd tracks into the bush. The tracks are great for mountain bikes too and the winding road with the river running beside it, is popular with cyclists. Visit the ruins of the old Kevington township, up the track across the road from the cabin, or the old gold mines that are dotted over the countryside. Do not walk off the track as the area is riddled with old gold mines. Fishing rods are provided, bye lure(no bait required but you must have a license to fish). There is a huge tube for lazing around on the swimming hole or for floating down the river (arrange a pick up further down the road). The river is very popular with canoeists. There are several lovely swimming holes on the property but note that the river rocks can be slippery so it's advisable to wear old trainers or appropriate footwear. Children must be supervised at all times. Depending on the season you can pick blackberries, plums, apples, oranges, bay leaves, mint, parsley and rosemary on the property.
  • Just a wonderful cabin to stop and rest and spend time as a family. There is not much to do but that's just perfect with the river running by!

  • Great place to unwind and recharge we loved our stay.

    John2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. This beautiful place was everything I’d hoped it to be, and some!! As tranquil as you could imagine, yet I felt a sense of security with a sealed main road just outside the gate. Communication with Sam was an absolute pleasure - clear, yet very relaxed. More thoughtful touches, practical information, safety information & local information than you could ask for - and the location & position of this beautiful cabin with total ease of access to the river is just bliss. For those wanting to take their fur baby, the only thing to consider is that what fencing is there isn’t enough to secure them - so 24/7 supervision is required unless you & your fur baby are comfortable for them to be tied up at times. Usually I’m not one to visit the same place more than once, but this place has stolen a piece of my heart... I’ll definitely be back!! Steph (... & Ava)

  • Samanthas cabin is something special. Super clean and beautifully furnished/decorated. With no phone signal/WiFi/tv, it is kind of like camping...but much more luxury! Samantha was a great host.

    Kelli2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet and comfortable place in a beautiful location. The whole family had a great time.

    Nina2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication and helpful local tips. A really lovely, peaceful place.

    Chris2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning place. Perfect in every way. Can't complain. Great for kids, great for a honeymoon, great for a reading getaway. Would come back here again 100%.

    Raghib2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and peaceful location. The kids were kept busy running around and playing in the river. Easy access to local historical attractions. A lovely place to stay for families looking for a holiday reminiscent of the days where kids could run around all day and everybody relaxed and slept well at the end of the day. Thank you for sharing your place Sam.
