  • Trudy & Ian’s Annex was amazing. I had booked it for my partner’s birthday & he absolutely fell in love with it as did I. The whole place was beautiful, everything worked great. It was lovely and warm, the jacuzzi was amazing. I can’t think of one negative thing to say about this place! The little touches like the breakfast bits just made it that little bit extra special! It’s also amazing if you have dogs too as it’s dog friendly which I loved! We will deffo be coming back here if we’re ever in the area.

    Lisa2020-02-17T00:00:00Z

We Brough our cat with us (Milo), he seemed to enjoy himself and it was nice to have the opportunity to bring him along! May Hill View S/C Annex is just a five-minute drive from the picturesque market town of Ross on Wye and five minutes from M50 junction 3. There is a vast array of things to do on your doorstep. Historical Hereford, Gloucester and Worcester with their famous cathedrals. The castles of Goodrich, Raglan, Chepstow and Eastnor. Tintern Abbey and various National Trust and English Heritage sites all near. The ancient Forest of Dean is a magnet for horse riding, walkers and cyclists and for golfers there are two fabulous courses literally a two-minute drive away. Opportunities for lake and river fishing are just nearby. Canoeing and cruising on the nearby River Wye are also very popular. Symonds Yat Rock, May Hill, the Malvern Hills, the Black Hills and Brecon Beacons are just a short drive away. The Annex is approx 30 metres away from the main house. It is private and has its own entrance. Cosy and warm (electric blankets too!) with all the usual amenities. The kitchen area has an undercounter fridge with small freezer compartment, a two ring hob, a kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, a toaster and a microwave which is also an oven. All utilities are included in the price, also essentials such as beverages, milk, cereals, condiments, cooking oil, washing up liquid. A Welcome cake on arrival! There is a lovely pub, the Moody Cow, which recently appeared in the Guardian newspaper as one of the top 50 places to have Sunday lunch is a five-minute walk up the road. It is advisable to book ahead as gets very busy at the weekend especially. There are several local footpaths. With the Round Ross Trail a minute from the front of the property.
  • Such a cute place to stay and relax! Sonya is so lovely and welcoming and gave us some great ideas of things to do during our stay. Unfortunately we didn't use the hot tub due to the weather but it is a lovely hot tub and very easy to use with a scenic view. Luckily the weather didn't stop us from having a lovely weekend! Thank you so much Sonya!

    Lucy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was an absolutely magical experience - the Annex is beautiful, cosy and super clean. Sonya was the perfect host, lovely to speak to, thoughtful (personal touches noted!) and so accommodating. The amenities were plentiful, with everything you could think of. For anyone with children, the Annex is an absolute gold mine - lots of games, DVDs, books and toys for hours of entertainment. The hot tub is the finishing touch - it is LUSH! It lives right by the Annex but is very private as it's surrounded by shrubs/greenery. You can enjoy looking up at the night sky if you fancy going for a dip in the evening, or look out into the fields by day. I'd encourage anyone looking into staying here to go for it, it was an amazing experience and we look forward to coming back!

  • We had a lovely stay here for two nights! The location and Annex are lovely, sparking clean and very cozy! Sonya had added some lovely touches including but not limited to home made fudge and apple juice. The hot tub is perfect and with great views from it, lovely on a cold winters night. The local pub is a must visit for fantastic food and friendly staff. With Sonya being a delightful host to wrap it all together!

    Andy2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay with friends, when we arrived we received a friendly welcome. The highlight for us was the hot tub, especially at night to gaze up at the stars on a clear night. The location was spot on for some great walks and a short distance to a smashing pub which served top quality food.

    Mark2019-11-30T00:00:00Z

The studio is a brand-new refurbished conversion in a stone barn annex. Totally self-contained, it features a double bed (it’s a wall bed which folds away to give you extra room), en-suite shower room, proper central heating, lots of beams, additional sofa bed, and comes with cereal breakfast. Private access to a side kitchen in main house for you.

Locally, those keen on fishing are also in for a treat, as are kayakers, horse riders, and those who love historical monuments. We're also a great base for exploring Wales and the Cotswolds. And at the end of our lane is the wonderful Cottage of Content, voted rural pub of the year, cementing our reputation as one of the great food areas of the UK.

  • Fiona and Peter are lovely hosts, the place is in an amazing location, expect a lot of peace and quiet and a lovely view of the stars at night! The flat was very clean and comfortable to stay in, my partner liked seeing the chickens out of the window in the morning! Lovely walks in the nearby area and much more to see if you drive further out. The main kitchen is separate and you have to walk a little to cook food but we didn't mind. The little kitchen area in the flat had a fridge, kettle and there was some cereal aswell, we were well happy with what we had! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Thanks guys and hope to see you again!

  • If you’re looking for a quiet, beautiful place to stay away from the crowds then this place is for you. It’s what I would call “proper England” We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Pete & Fiona are really friendly and their property is outstanding. Set in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside down a single track road you couldn’t ask for a more idillic setting. There is a great pub just a short walk down the lane who serve very nice food and some local brewed ciders. Not far from the river Wye and lots of walks on your doorstep if that’s your thing. I used this as the last night’s stay of a road trip I was taking my two daughters on. I am already looking to go back with the other half as it would make a nice romantic break. Pete even left a flask of coffee outside in the morning as well as supplying the basics such as milk and cereal for breakfast. If you do decide to book here you won’t be disappointed, the only thing I would advise is that you grab a few supplies before you arrive as the nearest town, Ross on Wye is about a nine mile drive. Oh, and the other thing is download anything you want to watch as Vodafone & Virgin mobile has very poor reception there and the WiFi works but not reliable enough to stream anything without interruption. 10/10 - Thank you very much 👌🏼

  • Fiona & Peter are really welcoming, nothing is too much trouble! We loved the location & all their fury & feathered friends too!

  • Fantastic place to stay. I've been working away from home and felt welcome and comfortable staying at Peter and Fiona's. Lovely pub food up the road.

  • This was my second visit to this beautiful cottage. The last time was in summer but it was just as perfect as a winter getaway - incredibly cosy with the wood burner roaring & a plentiful supply of logs delivered to the door along with fresh eggs from the hens! The space has everything I needed for a restful retreat - well equipped kitchen, incredibly comfortable bed for deep sleep, beautiful views, wonderful walks, peace & space to think & even in winter the garden is really inspiring. I can't recommend it highly enough!

  • Great place in a beautiful spot.

    Annie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in the cottage was absolutely seamless, hosts made it easy to relax in your own space without feeling like they weren't available for assistance if needed. We had a lovely relaxing getaway and took advantage of being able to cook our own meals in the cottage and explore the many nearby footpaths.

    Caitlin2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage, perfect quiet hideaway for couple. Comfy bed, very cosy and quiet but close to great walks and village with super pubs and great food.

  • The Hay Store is a perfect hide way in stunning location. Stef was a great welcoming host, the place was lovely and cosy, with everything you need including a fully stocked DVD/Book shelf! And some wonderful welcoming touches. And the bed so comfy you will not want to get up! Great pubs around locally and very near to Ross On Wye and Hereford.

    Sarah2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Stef’s place to celebrate my partners birthday and we had such a lovely weekend- when we arrived Stef had left a cake from the local farm shop and candle so we could celebrate, such a lovely personal touch. The accommodation is beautiful with fantastic amenities and the location is excellent- such a short drive away from all the great places to explore in the Wye Valley including Symonds Yat and the Forest of Deane. Thanks so much for a great stay Stef!

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Stef’s place last weekend and it was such a lovely getaway. The barn is so cosy, perfectly decorated and spotless. There were so many extra details that make this place so great, including a super comfy bed and a wonderful lemon drizzle cake left by the hosts. Location is great too, tucked away on a farm but only a short drive to Ross on Wye and some truly beautiful walks. All in all, couldn't ask for a nicer spot to spend a relaxed weekend!

    Amir2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Very clean and thoughtful extra touches. We felt very welcome.

    Kerry2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, peaceful stay at the Hay Store. Really comfortable bed! Great location for visiting the surrounding area. Would highly recommend The Red Lion and The Lough Pool for food. Stephanie was a great host.

    Maria2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter booked this accommodation for a Birthday present for a weekend. Grove View Barn is situated in a beautiful and quiet location with easy access to surrounding places of interest. The Haystore where we resided was quaint, clean and very homely. This is attached to the main barn with good parking and easy access. Our host Stefanie greeted us with a warm and friendly welcome when she popped in shortly after our arrival. The Haystore is very charismatic and cosy throughout and has all the utilities that you would require for a pleasant stay. The Haystore comprises of a bedroom, walk in shower / ablutions and kitchen, dining and living area. During our stay we visited the Red Lion Pub that is within walking distance or very short drive. The food was excellent and nicely priced, well worth a visit. In the daytime we visited and walked the Sculpture Walk in the Forest of Dean and Goodrich Castle and had a Sunday Roast in the Lion Inn, Trellech. The local Pengethley Garden Centre is also worth a visit. On our return home my wife and I were impressed by the accommodation, friendliness and beautiful surroundings. We intend to return for another weekend. (Chloe's parents)

  • Comfortable, warm, friendly, stylish and that's just ths host! A great stay made very easy by Stef - thoroughly recommend.

  • Really enjoyed our stay at the Haystore. Stef was quick to respond to messages and the instructions we received to get there were foolproof (great when driving in the dark!) Would definitely return if we were in the area again.

  • The accommodation is definitely off the beaten track .. a fantastic location if you like piece and quiet and best of all waking up to a fantastic view of the river Wye every morning. We loved it !! The Annexe is totally private and entered via its' own entrance. The hosts live on site but we were not aware of their presence during our stay however when we needed advice on local amenities they were on hand to help. Brilliant !! If you love the outdoors then get yourself to Ballingham where you can enjoy Herefordshire in all its' rural glory .. we strongly recommend a visit. Cicilia & Paul

Even though she has a dog it's not overly present. The location is relatively far from the Hereford but if you have a car there is no reason why not to stay with Helen.

  • This is the ideal spot for a family get together in the countryside. We were 5 adults and a 1 year old and the space felt just perfect: plenty of lounging areas, a big kitchen and dining space, large lawns and a games room to keep everyone entertained, both children and adults. We were here in summer and really enjoyed all the outdoor space and bbq area but it would be so cosy in winter as well. Charmaine responded very quickly to any queries we had and left a gorgeous basket of goodies for our arrival - a perfect host. Thank you so much. Everyone in our party was very happy and had an extremely relaxing weekend.

A tranquil, pretty cottage with stunning views, private garden and BBQ, in the picturesque village of Fownhope, near the River Wye. Sit in cosy comfort contemplating the outstanding natural beauty with all its wildlife. Superbly situated for walking, cycling, canoeing, fishing or bird watching. Lock up garage to store equipment. Stroll along the lane to two pubs for drinks and meals, or pamper at Wye Leisure Health Club. Central to other interesting villages. NO CLEANING CHARGE
At the end of a quiet lane, drive into the spacious parking area and enter Ferryboat Cottage through your private blue front door to the open plan sitting-room and kitchen. It is self-catering, but, milk, eggs, bread, tea and coffee will await. Walk in and immediately appreciate the stunning views over fields towards the church steeple and hills beyond. The staircase leads down to the bedroom - with a super king sized bed which can be separated to make two single beds, and great view of garden. The bathroom, including both shower and bath, is beside the sitting-room. Through the back door you can sit in the sun on the private patio, and a few steps below, your garden has a stream passing through, as well as another wild grass area across the bridge.
From the moment you step outside the world (or Fownhope) is your oyster. Enjoy a drink or meal in either of the two pubs or Wye Leisure Health Club after exploring the mysterious Haugh woods, strolling along the banks of the River Wye, or even paddling your way down in a canoe hired from nearby Luxhall. Maps will guide you through endless, ever-changing terrain - become one with nature. Beauty treatments can be booked in advance at Wye Leisure Health Spa and with the church, playing fields and swings, medical centre, well stocked local shop and a butcher in the village, one could argue that there's something for everyone in Fownhope! And the adventure doesn't end there. Within a short drive or a cycle ride you can visit Hereford (Mappa Mundi), Ledbury, Brockhampton Arts and Crafts church, Much Marcle Cider Mill, Ross-on-Wye, Hay-on-Wye (for Hay festival and book lovers), Malvern and many other interesting sites and seasonal events (all listed in your information packs).
  • My husband and I spent a weekend staying at Anne’s little cottage. It was absolutely perfect, lovely location (we can highly recommend eating at the Green Man pub in the village), immaculate condition and cleanliness, and a very peaceful spot, with lovely views over the fields. Anne was a very kind host, who was very responsive from the outset and who on arrival kindly welcomed us. Highly recommended if you would like a peaceful escape!

  • A wonderful holiday home in a beautiful quiet location with a stunning view and a very hospitable host. Recommended! We stayed here for six days during the New Year.

    Marcus2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very pleased with our choice. We had everything we needed and were cosy and warm as this was a Christmas break. Ann was a super host, providing lots of little extras like milk and bread, also a Christmas tree and fairy lights. The apartment was very clean and well maintained. The downstairs bedroom was novel!! We felt it was our own private space even though we were attached to the family residence. Lovely open aspect from the lounge. We would book again

  • Anne's cottage is a welcoming and cosy place to relax and recoup in the beautiful Hereford area. The cottage is set at the end of a lane overlooking picturesque fields. My partner and I enjoyed two restful nights in the cottage (some of the best sleep we've had in a long time!) after visiting nearby Bath on the drive over and fishing on the river Wye. The bread, eggs, milk and tea and coffee were a lovely touch after a long journey! We had a fantastic meal in the Green Man pub which is about a 5 min walk from the cottage. We will definitely be staying here again. Absolutely perfect.

  • Lovely accommodation in a quiet location with great views. Great walking area and good pubs in walking distance with good food

    Sue2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Anne was a good host, helpful and accommodating. The place was spotlessly clean and well set out. It was at the end of a lane and quiet.

The Old Dairy is a cosy , spacious self contained annex to our beautiful Georgian farmhouse. It is situated on our working farm in stunning, peaceful Herefordshire. It is conveniently situated just off the A49 at the end of our farm drive.
The Old Dairy comprises a small entrance hall with coat hanging space and shoe rack leading into the lounge with 2 seater sofa and arm chair. There is a table and 2 chairs under the window so that you can eat your breakfast and enjoy the view. The Old Dairy now has its own internet connection so enjoys reasonable download speed. There is a smart TV in the lounge so that guests can enjoy catch up TV etc. There is a king size bed in the bedroom which will split into 2 x 3' single beds if required. The bathroom has a walk in shower and the whole property has under floor heating which makes it very cosy! The fully equipped kitchen allows you to be completely self sufficient if you wish to cook for yourselves. The accommodation is on one level and is suitable for those with mobility issues.
The farm is situated in beautiful countryside. Pengethley Park, which is National Trust land, is accessed directly from the farm and is a lovely place to walk. Our sheep and cattle graze there and the ancient church of St. Dubricius nestles at the bottom of the park. The River Wye is a short walk of 3 miles & you can take a pit stop at The Lough Pool Inn should you need refreshments. The Red Lion is a short walk away & provides good pub food. The Yew Tree Inn at Peterstow is another good watering hole with home made food from Friday to Sunday. They also have live music on most Friday nights. The Welsh borders are a treasure trove of castles, gardens & National Trust properties with something for everyone. The beautiful Forest of Dean is a short drive away & I can recommend tea at The Speech House Hotel. The market town of Monmouth is only 10 miles from the farm & has an interesting selection of shops, cafes & restaurants. The Savoy Theatre holds regular showing of films, live music & plays. There is ample on farm parking & safe, secure storage for bikes and canoes if required.
  • We absolutely loved it here. The Old Dairy far exceeded our expectations. A warm welcome from Sue and her husband, personal touches were very much appreciated, the farm was easy to find and in a great location. Would highly recommend it. Our first stay at an Airbnb and the bar has been set extremely high!

    Jo2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is great, an absolutely perfect space for a couple to spend a weekend. Really cosy and intimate, but more than enough space, lovely condition and a great host.

    Owen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We came to the forest of dean for the first time and had an amazing stay at the old dairy. The accommodation was very clean and had everything we needed (including great kitchen facilities). Sue was very welcoming and friendly and we felt we could contact her any time during our stay. The location was great and we loved being so close to many of the attractions the forest of dean has to offer. We particularly enjoyed visiting symonds yat rock, may hill and monmouth. There are lots of pubs nearby and it’s easy to get to shops and amenities. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the old dairy. Thanks Sue!!!

    William2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We would really recommend the Old Dairy. It was very comfortable and has a well kitted out kitchen. The location is great, it was quiet and lovely to be on the farm. Susan is a fantastic host and provided breakfast too. We stayed with our 14 month old and found it suited us really well. There are lots of activities to do in the area as it is so centrally located in the Wye Valley

    Rebecca2019-12-30T00:00:00Z

Chasewood Lodge is a large, detached Victorian house located within a 3 minute walk of Ross-on-Wye town centre in the heart of the Wye Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty. People from all backgrounds very welcome. Good pub literally across the road. Public transport links. Great for single travellers, couples, cyclists, business travellers, walkers.
  • Lovely big room in a lovingly restored and cosy warm victorian house. Quiet location within 10mins walk of great market town with nice restaurants to choose from. Simple breakfast nicely presented in a super dining room. Lyn and Ed are friendly and welcoming

    Geoff2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely old house with bags of character. Large room with a great little ensuite and a sofa. The house is a short walk into town with plenty of places to eat and drink. We ate at The Royal and had a good meal at a reasonable price. Unfortunately we did not have much time to explore Ross so its a good excuse to go back and have another stay!

    Julie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is beautiful and the hospitality superb and the amenities just right. It is just a few minutes walk from Ross town centre and some nice eating places. We were made to feel at home straight away and enjoyed some good conversation with our hosts. I would recommend the Victorian house.

    Philip2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, comfortable room in a very welcoming household. Lots of lovely touches in case you’ve forgotten anything and a real eye to detail. Just what I needed, on an all too short visit to Herefordshire. Thank you.

    Martin2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • We've stayed here several times now, its our 'go to' in Ross on Wye. Great local tips, very comfortable room, excellent hosts, just need to fix the weather!

    Mike2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sumptuous house in a great location that is easy walking distance of town centre. Lynn, Ed and the labs made us feel so welcome, and we look forward to staying again.

    Jon2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely couple and a beautiful house. Lynn and Ed were attentive when we needed them, but gave us our privacy also. I would recommend them.

    Helen2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn and Ed's home is beautiful - and their welcome and attention to detail wonderful. (We also loved their two gorgeous labradors!) The situation is perfect - very easy to find and with secure parking. Our room had everything we needed, incuding mini fridge with fresh milk for drinks, and was spacious and comfortable; there was a settee and television (perfect, as we happened to be there the weekend of the rugby world cup semi finals). The pub across the road apparently does not serve food (we did not check this out) but the centre of Ross is very close and we found a lovely Italian restaurant for dinner on Saturday evening. NB some other restaurants were fully booked, so it might be worth reserving a table in advance if you plan to visit at the weekend. (Although, it would also have been possible to have take-away food in our room.) Sunday breakfast was good and we had chance to meet the other couple staying that weekend as well as talk with Lynn and Ed, who are delightful. We were able to stay and watch the rugby before leaving about 11am - there was no case of having to rush to check-out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Lynn and Ed and will pass their Airbnb details on to friends/family.

This beautiful tipi is nestled away in our cider apple orchard. Come and let-go in the ultimate back-to-nature stay. You can relax in the countryside, take a walk down to our river (with pebble beach), enjoy fine local food at country pubs and then in the evening roast marshmallows on the fire and watch a film on our outdoor cinema. Great for a romantic weekend getaway or an adventure with the kids. Dogs are allowed, as long as they are kept under control. It's a working small dairy farm.
  • Wonderful stay, autumn has well and truly fallen but the tepee was so cosy and warm with many blankets, a little ‘wood burner’ *fake but fabulous and kept warm toasting marshmallows outside:) Projector is such a different idea! We snuggled up with hot chocolates after a hard day paddling on the river wye. Wish we could have stayed longer. Made friends with our camper next door - Hi George ! So shared some burgers and sausages and enjoyed sunset with our friendly cows in the field next door. Lovely, lovely stay, Greta to get outside and enjoy Mother Nature. Will be visiting again. Thank you Rich ! Laura & Toby

    Laura2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Rich - we loved our stay. The Tipi is amazing and the location was really tranquil. We had everything we needed and more. We especially loved using the projector to watch a film outside. Thank you.

    Leigh2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Rich’s tipis! The spaces were gorgeous and had some really lovely thoughtful touches in the tipis and surrounding area. Great amenities, we enjoyed a fantastic BBQ and played a game of rounders in the field. Great place to get back to nature and enjoy some quality time with loved ones. Would 100% recommend!

  • Great place, in a good location, would thoroughly recommend with lots of added touches such as open-air cinema/marshmallows/hot chocolate.

    Libby2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • A really unique and special camping experience in a lovely location with great amenities on site. Well worth a visit.

    Anneliesa2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • I loved everything about this place. Although I never met the host he was very quick, clear and friendly in his communications with me. Directions to the site were very clear. The place itself is wonderfully tranquil. The birds sang me to sleep. The place was clean, extremely well thought out, the shower block efficient if not snazzy. I didn't want snazzy, just something that was clean and that worked. Fantastic idea with the projector and video, although I didn't use it because my visit was only fleeting. You can hang a sheet between the trees and watch films in your own outdoor cinema, or against the canvas of your tent if it's chilly or wet outside. There was a simple gas fire to use for cooking which I used because it was so easy, but you can also build your own camp fire. I was on my own, and wish my family had been with me. It struck me as a perfect countryside getaway.

  • The Superhost really is a Super Host. Jane was really welcoming and helpful, the accommodation was exactly as described, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Will definitely be back!

    David2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jane goes above and beyond. She got me goat's milk & offered to buy me gluten free bread. The breakfast of fresh fruit is a real treat. The accommodation is spacious, clean and warm, with everything you need. We felt well looked after. Jane also recommended a good restaurant & offered to phone & book us a table. We went on the off chance and got a cancellation, and had a fabulous meal. Number 3 is the name of it. We highly recommend Jane's place for anyone.

    Rhiannon & Adrian2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This room in Jane & Tony's beautiful home offers outstanding value for money. The location is fantastic, you can see the river from the window and it's only a few minutes walk into the Town Centre. It's warm and welcoming and you feel right at home, a bit too much in our case - we didn't want to leave! The breakfast in the morning was a lovely extra touch and just added to the wonderful experience. There are some great restaurants nearby, we had a lovely Italian meal at Jane's recommendation but there are lots of options. We would absolutely recommend this amazing place for anyone looking to stay in Ross-on-Wye.

    Kate2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jane’s place is stylish and comfortable. We were upgraded to the flat across the road and The views from their were amazing. There was milk and fruit in the fridge and it was sparkling clean. We felt at home and comfortable. We would stay here again in a heart beat. Thanks again Jane!

  • Excellent location, river in front and small town behind all within a minutes walking. Jane really is a superhost, offered a parking permit, provided a delicious breakfast and great conversation. The room I stayed in was at the very top of the townhouse, 2 flights of stairs via the living room but all very manageable. The house is spotless and a very comfy bed. Would definitely stay here again.

River View is a cosy cottage, full of original charm, dating back to the 1600s, but with all modern comforts, underfloor heating, woodburner, and pretty views over the Wye Valley. Recently refurbished to a high standard. Walks from the doorstep, along the Wye Valley Way or through woodland. We are between Fownhope and Mordiford. Loads of cosy pubs nearby. Ideally located for walking and relaxing. Herefordshire is unspoilt, undiscovered with no crowds! Follow us on Instagram @riverviewfownhope
All our guests have loved our cottage, as it's cosy and comfortable and well equipped. The views from the main bedroom and the garden are beautiful, and we frequently have spectacular sunsets. Downstairs is the entrance hall, bathroom, kitchen/diner, living room and single bedroom. The upstairs main bedroom has its own balcony with views.
Fiddlers Green is a small hamlet between the villages of Fownhope and Mordiford, both of which are within 30 mins walk. There are pubs in both villages and a great little shop and a butcher's in Fownhope. We overlook the end of Lucksall campsite which also has a shop and bar/restaurant in season. This is a 5 minute walk.
  • River cottage is a lovely cosy warm and welcoming place. We loved our stay and had everything we needed on the doorstep, including lovely local pubs and stunning woodland walks. We had a warm welcome with tea, biscuits and local cider and logs for the fire provided. Justine was very friendly and helpful. A great stay, we hope to go back.

  • A very homely cottage. Lovely downstairs bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. Comfy bed in a cosy, quiet bedroom. Would return.

  • Riverview Cottage was Amazing. Beautiful Old cottage outside with a fresh modern kitchen and bathroom inside with the bedroom and living room areas being very beautiful and also traditional with the exposed beams and wood burner. We spent a week here exploring the local area and it was great. Underfloor heating was very effective at keeping the cottage cosy in the middle of winter. Nice touch of eggs, cider and bikkies on arrival. Parking easy. Little pub up the road, the 'New Inn', did a Great reasonably priced meal, and we found we had a nice hostess at the pub as well as at the cottage! Could not fault this place, highly recommended.

    Jon2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, a lovely stay. We extended from three days to a week it was so nice.

    Jon2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This looked like the perfect place for a quiet break over new year, and so it proved. The woodburner and underfloor heating make for a lovely cosy feel and the prosecco and cookies were a welcoming touch. Everything about the cottage has been carefully thought out, from the well-equipped kitchen / diner with views over the Wye valley to the comfortable bedrooms and living room. It would be great to visit in the summer when the balcony and barbecue would come into their own. We enjoyed walking into Fownhope for a pub lunch at the New Inn - good gluten-free choices, and good beer - and we bought some very good value steaks at the butcher for our New Year's Eve feast. 🙂

    Paul2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly renovated cottage with great attention to details (the cookies- a very tasty, warm welcome). The hosts are very kind and helpful too. (We found a great pub with very tasty food in the village which was a bonus - the green man) We would definitely recommend staying there, our little family of three had a really relaxed time there

    Severine2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely , very old and beautifully restored cottage which is very comfortable and has great charm. The view from the back is sublime. We also loved the balcony, the underfloor hearing and the amazing powershower! • My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Byron house. The place was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, cosy and felt like home for us. Andrew the host was prompt with answering my messages and accommodated any requests that I had so I’m extremely grateful for that. There was everything you could want in the house and the surrounding area was absolutely stunning. The village the house is situated in is lovely and quaint. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. We loved it that much we didn’t want to leave on the Monday.

In 2012 Little Rock Barn was beautifully converted into a modern functional space with luxury bathrooms, while retaining the character of the original dairy with vaulted ceilings and stone walls. Being located in the Wye Valley, this is an ideal place for those wishing to walk, cycle, canoe or just explore the hidden gems of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The open plan layout creates a light and airy space. Under floor heating throughout and a lovely wood burner offers a cosy atmosphere. The barn has ample space for parking and a garden with patio area. From the front door and garden there is a stunning view of the Wye Valley and surrounding countryside. We can provide a travel cot on request. Please ask us about any other requirements you may have. ***Check out our other listing - Lower Rock Barn***
The barn is set in an estate with other barn conversions on a non working farm - you may spot a few sheep who are around to keep the grass down. The city of Hereford and the market towns of Ross on Wye, Ledbury and Newent are within easy driving distance and the near-by villages of Fownhope and Much Marcle have excellent country pubs. Although set in unspoilt countryside, the barn is approximately a 10 minute drive from the M50.

  • Little Rock Barn is a beautiful converted barn in a stunning location. Who doesn't want to wake up to a view of rolling hills and sheep!?! Claire was a fantastic host who had thought of everything . Lovely to have bread, fresh eggs and jam waiting for us. The barn was comfortable, very clean and had a large back garden. Great for a quiet get away and close to lots of attractions. We visited Hampton Court Castle which the kids loved! This is fabulous accommodation which caters for a families. We would highly recommend and would definitely stay again to explore more of the area.

  • Beautiful barn with everything we needed. Claire was super quick with replies from the get go and lovely little touches of bread, jam, milk and eggs. Really lovely rural settings, we went for a lovely walk around hauge Wood which was approx 15 mins drive away and had dinner in the moon Inn. Beds were clean and comfy and everything was spotless!

This converted porta cabin is situated on an ex-Forest Nursery yard set within 10 acres, now laid down to grass from the previous 50 years of tree growing. A minutes walk from the yard reveals beautiful views across the landscape and as far as the Skirrid, Abergavenny's Sacred hill. A view worth drawing/painting/photographing as varied weather and light alter the scenery. There is a lovely walk down to twin lakes, used for fishing and leisure walking approximately 10-15 minutes stroll away. The local pub is also within walking distance, where good simple food, real ales/Herefordshire cider and a friendly welcome is to be found. An annual 'Blues' festival which benefits lots of charities is held here at the Alma Inn. The cabin is newly refurbished, carpeted throughout, clean and bright with off road parking and a patio area for relaxing with a glass of wine. There is a 'no smoking' policy within the cabin, but quite acceptable outdoors with ashtray provided. A 'Welcome Basket' of tea, coffee, milk, bread, eggs (fresh from my chickens) will be provided for your arrival. The historic towns of Hereford, Monmouth, Ledbury, Malvern, Hay on Wye are all within 20 - 60 minutes drive. Day hire kayaking and canoeing within 20 minutes drive to spend a great day enjoying the River Wye and experiencing the spectacular Wye valley from different prospective. Just paddling down the river and stopping off for a pub lunch or a swim on the way. The wonderful Forest of Dean is also on the doorstep with lots of activities such as cycle hire, horse riding, sculpture trail walks to fill your days. Lots of 'to do' brochures in the cabin for inspiration. There is also room for well behaved dogs - as sheep, dog and cats live on the property!
Rustic rural location, enjoyable local walks, dog friendly!
Local fishing lakes, turn up and pay for the day! A good local pub (The Alma) serving very reasonable priced food!! Also host a Charity Blues Festival annually! Very dog friendly!! Good walks and great views!!
  • Great little place within easy reach of M50 but with a nice rural feel. Pretty views from the cabin and birds all around including red kite. Comfortable , warm, very well equipped . We liked the retro feel of the decor. Excellent unobtrusive hosting was much appreciated, including the kindly touch of making sure a landline connection was available in case of emergency ( we had a relative in hospital). Handy for all sorts of beautiful countryside and market towns. Highly recommend a visit to the Internstional Birds of Prey centre at Newent and food at the Newent Tandoori was fab.

  • Lovely host with an ideal little cabin. Smart tv and Alexa made the rainy weekend not matter. Had a great cosy weekend in front of the fire. Comfy bed with heated blanket and a great sized kitchen and living room. Absolute bargain. Local curry house is exceptional and a must try.

  • A wonderful little cabin, in a great location with an amazing countryside view a couple of steps outside the front door. It may look small, but there's plenty of space inside, and a great little deck outside for when the sun is shining. Lesley, the host, was very friendly and pointed out some great places to eat. We had an amazing time and absolutely recommend this place to anybody staying near by.

    Michael2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific little place in a gorgeous setting with lovely walks right out the front door. We spent a week here walking about 20 to 25km every day and didn't drive more than 30 minutes away. Clean and comfortable accommodation and a wonderful host - friendly, thoughtful, easy to contact but still gives you your space. The extensive provisions we were provided with were above and beyond a host's duty; we were very grateful for these kind extra touches. If you're a couple with or without a dog looking for a place in this area, I can't imagine what more you'd want than this. Thank you Lesley!

    Chris2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed for couple of nights at Acorn Cabin with our two small dogs but loved every minute. It was spotlessly clean and there was fresh Soda bread, fresh eggs, milk, butter and jam waiting for us. The surrounding countryside and the view from the kitchen window is stunning. We knew Lesley was on site should we need anything although the cabin was so well equipped, we had everything we could possibly need while we were there. I loved the the fresh eggs so much that, after asking Lesley's advice about keeping hens, just two days after we've arrived home, we now have a chicken coop and two resident hens!! We would have loved to have stayed a little longer and would highly recommend Acorn Cabin as somewhere really relaxing to stay.

    Yvonne2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley lives up to the expectations of a super host! We loved all of the little touches, like giving us fresh eggs and bread, you can tell a lot of thought for her guests go into every detail. The farm is picturesque and just what we needed for a weekend getaway - couldn’t recommend it enough.

    Georgia2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley gave us a warm and friendly welcome. Her accommodation was delightful. It was very clean and tidy. There was plenty of parking and lots of extras in the cabin. Lesley provided us with some delicious ingredients for breakfast. We felt spoilt. Thank you very much Lesley!

    Penny2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in the cabin. We stay in a lot of air BnBs and this really did have everything we needed. Lots of easy parking right outside...comfy bed...cosy living room. The kitchen was lovely (Lesley had kindly left eggs, milk, butter and delicious fresh bread) and the shower was very good with plenty of hot water (with added bonus of lots of towels!) . A great place to have our dog with us...who had a lovely time! Check-in and checkout were easy, with Lesley being a very welcoming and helpful host. Would definitely stay here again!

There's room for 5 people in the tipi. There's a large king sized bed, with 3 singles. There's a heater and plenty of blankets to ensure your stay is warm and comfortable. There is a toilet and shower block where you can take warm showers. There's also tea and coffee amenities

  • Another lovely, warm and comfortable stay at Stone Cottage!

    Leah2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Simply put this is an ideal cozy cottage for exploring the region on sunny days, visiting the lovely towns nearby on less ideal days and simply staying in and reading by a log fire on rainy days. Make sure you have tea out on the bench overlooking the valley, perfect silence punctuated solely by distance tractors and the clip clop off horse riders. Sublime.

Situated on the Wye Valley Walk, these luxury pods are ideal for a romantic getaway for two, or keen ramblers and anglers. The Wye River is a short walk or drive away and the nearest shop is 1.5 miles away but accessible via countryside walks. Each pod has it's own private bathroom with a full size shower and cooking facilities. Currently there is no WiFi available but we are looking to change this as soon as possible
  • Very nice place with lovely hosts, would recommend.

  • Everything is covered here it was a great little place to stay! Perfect little get away for a couple of friends. The bed was really comfy and deceptively big. Plenty of plugs and nice big shower room. Can’t rate the accommodation and host highly enough.

  • Me and my boyfriend came here for a little getaway for his birthday weekend, it was exactly what we needed and expected. The pod was very stylish and had everything we needed, super easy! The check in and out was very simple and the location was very easy to find, close by to quite a few pubs if you’re looking to eat out, eating in is just as easy with the handy microwave, hob and utensils! The location is very pretty and lovely to wake up to. When we arrived at our pod we were welcomed by a bottle of red wine and a celebratory card from the host which was a lovely gesture :)

    Samantha2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my boyfriend stayed in this pod for just a night. I was surprising my boyfriend with a weekend away and thought of this pod would be romantic for the both of us to get away from everything and have a relaxing time. We got this as soon as we arrived at this pod, we felt so comfy here. The site is pretty with W little orchard with 5 other pods. The pod inside was so warming and cute! It’s not far from shops and restaurants and we went to Ross on Wyre for a lovely evening meal, and it was great knowing that we were going back to a lovely bed when we got back. Would highly recommend this for anyone!!

    Grace2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, clean site, facilities were just what we needed, including a kitchenette with toaster and kettle, fridge and cooker, also our own shower and toilet. Plenty of places to explore nearby, friendly neighbours. Best of all, our dog loved it! Just wished we'd booked to stay for longer! Next time :)

  • Had a wonderful stay at Caplor. Really easy check in and check out process and great communication from Sandy ahead of and after our stay. The pod was very clean and far more spacious than anticipated with lots of amenities provided. Would definitely recommend!

  • Great little pods with everything you need for a quiet stay in the beautiful countryside. We spent the day after wedding here and it was a lovely little spot to relax in. The hosts left us a card and bottle of Prosecco too which was a really nice touch. Thanks again

The Byre is a recently converted seventeenth century sandstone and timber stable and granary. We are situated on the biggest loop of the River Wye between the cathedral city of Hereford and its historic Mappa Mundi and the market town of Ross-On-Wye. It is an ideal base for fishing, walking, or canoeing. There is an excellent pub in Hoarwithy and less than three miles away are The Loughpool & Cottage of Content, both offering locally sourced fabulous fare. Sadly we now no longer accept pets.
We moved in during 2016, and up until then the farm was an equestrian centre. We have completed quite a bit of the restoration and work on the farm buildings, but it's very much ongoing. The area is rural and quiet but is extremely beautiful and there are numerous walks from here. You could also choose to canoe to us from Hereford and then onto Ross-On-Wye over two days.
Our neighbourhood is rural and beautiful. We have a racehorse trainer up the road who exercises her horses past the house most mornings. There is a village pub in Hoarwithy, serving food, local beer and cider less than 0.5 mile away. Less than three miles away are two inns which offer fabulous, locally sourced dishes. The locals are very friendly. Hereford, 9 miles away, is a busy cathedral city with its historic Mappa Mundi, many museums, lots of shops and cafes. Ross-on-Wye, 8 miles away, is a bustling market town with good independent shops, restaurants and cafes. Slightly further afield are the black and white towns of Ledbury, Leominster and Ludlow.
  • We had a lovely stay at The Byre - it was spacious and warm, and in a quiet location. It was immaculately clean. Very easy check in and friendly, helpful host.

    Sarah2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • There are 2 cottages at Ruxton Farm. We stayed at 'The Cow Byre' which slept 4 adults and has a small child's bed in one of the two bedrooms. These cottages were renovated in 2017.They have been carefully converted ,the workmanship is good, exposed beams and well laid plasterwork. The kitchen joins the main living space, it is large with modern equipment-modernish in the case of the oven, very easy to work in .I prepared Christmas dinner there without difficulty. The bedrooms are warm and comfortable as are the beds!. The heating is oil fired it is appreciated if you are careful with it's use as it is a very expensive form of heating. Something is added to the oil to produce an aroma -not unpleasant-like a strong air freshner when it burns ,this you will notice when the owners put the heating on before you arrive in winter. You will notice it upstairs at night as the heat rises disperses easily if you open a window. before you go to bed.

  • Emma was a very responsive host, The Byre is very clean, comfortable and with great amenities. Bedrooms and bathrooms very spacious and comfortable, perfect for 2 couples. Location excellent for visiting the local area. It was quiet and peaceful at night. And of course the lovely cake. Definitely a 5*+ .

  • The Byre is a lovely place to stay - quiet, relaxing and in a fabulous location

    Anne2019-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from a fabulous week’s stay at The Byre. The property surpassed my expectations and I felt at home the moment I stepped through the front door. Warm, cosy and extremely spacious - the downstairs living space felt particularly sizeable. The location was perfect for the holiday I had in mind, days spent walking in the Wye Valley and Herefordshire countryside coupled with quiet, relaxing evenings in the local area. The personal touches (a delicious cake and fresh cut flowers) also added that extra something special. I very much hope to return in the not too distant future and can’t recommend this place highly enough. Thank you Emma!
