  • This is an amazing apartment to stay for a get away. I came with my boyfriend and it’s in such a beautiful location with amazing walks nearby. Would love to come back and stay again soon! Jacqui was lovely and was always around if we ever needed anything and provided breakfast which was a lovely start to each day.

    Cara2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We love to stay at Riversound, mostly because Jacqui takes such good care of us We do not have to worry about breakfast or sandwich makings. She keeps us full of croissants, toast, tea, yogurt and fresh fruit! The space is lovingly decorated and you go to sleep and wake up to the river outside your door. Lots of pubs within walking or a quick drive. If you are like me, and work full time and want to escape this is a slice of heaven. We moved on to a place in north Wales that is nice with a view. There is such a difference in how I feel coming to Jacqui's home..it is so cozy and delightful.

  • Stunning place, beautiful scenes, cosy and clean! Fully recommend!

    Sophie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We needed 2 days of rest and nature. We got more than we needed here. The open fire, the rushing waters and the water fall on your door step cleared away any cobwebs. This is an amazing place to stay. I can not recommend Jacqui and John highly enough.

  • Great space, had breakfast stuff and drink etc there waiting for us. No cooker or hob but the pub was about a minute walk from the house or there were loads of places around if you’ve got a car. It was raining when we were there but it would have been so lovely to sit outside and have breakfast and watch the river. Lots of maps and personal recommendations for things to do when we arrived. We drive to the four waterfalls and did the walk which was amazing but it was a bit of a drive. Definitely need a car if you want to explore. Very pretty views. We had a lovely time.

  • Beautiful cottage, great location. Quick responses with tips on the local area. Amazing extras for special touch. Biscuits, fruit, milk, juice, breakfast condiments, bread, fresh coffee. Made the weekend very special. Even messaged to say not to rush checking out and to take our time. Thanks so much for a lovely stay x

The 'Cwtch', is delightfully situated at the foot of the Blorenge. Conveniently placed on the edge of Llanfoist village it borders the Brecon National park. The cabin is located in the garden of the Coach House sharing the same parking area. The Cwtch has a spacious veranda which leads to the living space with kitchen and sitting area. From there, there is a bedroom and bathroom with a bed loft accessed by a secured ladder. The bed loft has a stair gate for the safety of smaller guests.
Included in the facilities offered by the Cwtch (pronounced coo - (as in cook) ch (as in church) , for those staying for longer periods or with small children, there is an attached utility room with washing machine and dryer, also large Belfast sink for washing dirty boots, fishing tackle, or kit. There is a TV/DVD player and access to our library of nearly a hundred DVD's, as well as free view satellite TV.
Llanfoist village lies on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National park and Blaenavon World heritage site. Follow the stream that runs through the garden up the Blorenge past the Monmouth to Brecon canal, or down to the river Usk, all within 5 minutes walk of the cabin. Abergavenny, famous for its food festival, is only 20 minutes walk. Or step outside and watch the Velothon come past your door, the Welsh national cycling event. All of these stunning landscapes offer a range of attractions from walking to hangliding, pony trekking and canoeing in the majestic Wye Valley. If you like to eat out, we recommend the Spice Lounge in the village or the Angel, Foxhunter bar in the Abergavenny. There are also Thai, Chinese, Bengali and Gurka restaurants or takeaways in the town. Waitrose is 10 minutes walk, and Aldi or Tesco is a short drive.
  • This is a lovely cozy cabin right next to the Blorenge and an easy walk to town. Hassle free and everything you need.

    Abby2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to explore Walsh countryside, very good location. Great family walks just around the Llanfoist town, but also not far from highest peaks of South Wales. Only 30 min drive to Pen y Fan. There are lots of local pubs in Llanfoist and the big Waitrose for those ones who would like home cooked meals. Peter’s kitchen is very well equipped and has got absolutely everything you need. Good touch including basic things like tea, coffee, sugar, salt, olive oil and few herbs. Really enjoyable stay, nice and stylish cabin, much bigger than I expected. Thank you Peter!

  • My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay in the Cwtch. We were looking for a cosy play to stay during our weekend in Llanfoist and this was just perfect. Right at the foot of the Blorenge mountain means it is the ideal location for anyone looking to go on some scenic walks and hikes and it was also a short walk away from local shops and restaurants in Abergavenny. Peter’s place is perfectly clean and has everything we needed, including a book with local tips and recommendations. We loved the spice lounge!

  • Great location. Even though it is out of the way, we felt comfortable and safe coming in and out. Being out of the way was also an advantage because you are surrounded by scenery. The place is Perfect for watching the sunrise. Thank you Leann for helping me in sorting out the little surprise, really appreciate you going out your way to organise that. It was a lovely stay overall.

  • This place is a real gem of an apartment. Stylish decor, fantastic quiet location, really well equipped apartment, clean, tidy, secure everything you could ask for, and as for the leather sofa ...well what can I say, I wish I was sat on it now. Oh and thanks for the Welsh cakes, really yummy.

Old Abergavenny Road Llanover, Abergavenny Monmouthshire, United Kingdom

*NB Min of 4 guests in holidays pls use contact host* A quirky converted Baptist Chapel in the Brecon Beacons, 15mins from Crickhowell and Abergavenny with a secret story and lots of sleeping options. Warm in winter with thick stone walls that are calming and quiet. This is a simple place to detox from busy lives. Cosy nights in front of the wood burner with friends or family. A place to read, play the piano, listen to music, sing, cook or just do nothing. Cycling, walking, from the door.
Hugh’s Chapel comprises of two self-contained but adjoining spaces, suited to a romantic or special weekend for two or a get together with family and friends, up to a maximum of 8 persons. We just let to a single group and expand the space available depending on the group size. By default for bookings up to four persons you will be in the main chapel. If you are a bigger group then we will expand out into the Sunday School area through the pulpit door which is normally kept locked. If you are four and particularly want both parts we are happy to discuss and the best thing to do is contact us through contact host option. Unfortunately its difficult to cover this flexibility within airbnb pricing system at present. We try and make it affordable for small and large groups. Hughs Chapel is the main part with the main double bedroom with lots of sleeping possibilities for fold out beds in the main chapel. There are lots of little corners if you want some time to yourself or to read a book. Its great acoustically and listening to music is wonderful. But its the feeling of those thick, calming stone walls that is really special and the light that comes in through the windows at different times of the day. Its simply furnished but comfortable. From that point of view its easy to relax into the feel of the Chapel. The Chapel’s story is also something unique but you will have to find that out for yourself! Through the adjoining pulpit door are the Sunday School Rooms which houses a double Bedroom with arched window and nice views, family bathroom with bath and shower, back door, stairs leading to upstairs third bedroom / living room with foldout double sofa bed and is spacious. Off that space is a small fully functioning kitchen with great views of the black mountains. There is a set of french doors onto a deck area with views of the black mountains that leads onto a private garden with trampoline. This area gets a nice drop of sunshine from late morning until the sun sets.
Friendly and welcoming, quiet apart from lots of sheep on the hills and cows in local farmers field so sounds very rural. You will be warmly welcomed into the local pubs You can hear the streams in the background. Very old industrial archaeology tramways, railways, quarry working, iron works hidden in every corner. Hidden valleys, beech woods, small waterfalls, lots of birdlife, Owls at night, Cuckoos, woodpeckers, peregrines. Despite this very good links to Abergavenny 15mins by car and only 25mins by bike downhill ! So good base to go and explore the rest of the National Park or further a field Cardiff, Gower Peninsula, Forest of Dean, Wye Valley.
  • Ivan is a fantastic host and hughs chapel is absolutely beautiful. It was storm Dennis so we just started in and played games (there are plenty in the house) in front of the log fire. It was a well deserved rest. Occasionally we looked outside but it was still raining - there are walks and cycle paths from the door . The kitchen is well equipped and the rooms are very comfortable. My daughter loved her mezzanine hideout . We will be back soon we hope and next time in the sunshine !

    Elizabeth2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Ivan is a great host. Thoughtful touches, excellent communication and a wonderful location. We were warm, comfortable and had everything we needed for a great stay. There was freshly baked bread awaiting us on arrival and plenty of firewood supplied for the couple of nights we were there. Lots of space and a well-equipped kitchen in a very special building. I have no reservations at all in thoroughly recommending Hugh's Cottage as a top notch destination.

    Carl2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, Ivan is so thoughful with fresh bread in the oven for us on arrival. He provided us with so much information regarding the local area!

    Hannah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The chapel is a stylish place with musical history located in the beautiful welsh countryside. Ivan was on hand to show us around, give local tips and had even baked bread for our arrival. We had a hugely productive and fun weekend in an inspirational setting! Would recommend!

  • Lovingly restored converted chapel in a beautiful location with plenty of walks right from the doorstep. We loved the property and felt very comfortable and warm during our winter weekend. Thanks Ivan!

A private ground floor apartment set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. A perfect country escape to recharge those batteries. The property looks directly onto the sugar loaf mountain from the sitting room window. The property enjoys its own private landscaped garden. Ideally situated for access to a number of popular mountain bikes routes. The property also enjoys door step access to numerous scenic walks for both the seasoned walkers or those who enjoy more gentle strolls in the countryside.
The space has an open plan, kitchen, sitting room and dining room. It is heated by a electric fuelled wood burner effect fire and central hearing making it a cosy, comfortable and romantic place to enjoy rural wales. It has a double bed and a bathroom with a shower. From the back door you can walk out onto a patio and large landscaped private garden so you can sit and enjoy the beauty of your idyllic surroundings and in the evening listen out for the song of the nightingale or the hoot of the owl. There is one pub which serves food and real ales in a 20 minute walking distance. There is also another pub the Dragon's head in Llangenny which is only a five minute drive away which we often frequent - a warm welcome is always guaranteed. The space is nestled in the mountains so is very rural although you can pick up mobile phone signal and 4G and it is easily accessible by car. There is also free WIFI. There are loads of walks right from the front door so you can park up for the stay and take in the surroundings leaving you refreshed to return home. There is another apartment above the property but the two spaces are entirely separate. If you would like to come friends, if available, you can rent both properties which would then accommodate 4 people in total.
We hope that you will love the peace and tranquillity that the countryside offers, except when we are herding the sheep! ;)
  • A lovely, quiet place with beautiful mountains right outside!

  • If you need some quiet time away then look no further - Lizzie's place simply is perfect! We loved spending time watching the countryside around us and meeting Lizzie's lovely animals too. The place is also perfect to visit the beautiful town of Crickhowell - a real gem with all its independent shops. Thank you, Lizzie, for giving us the chance to relax in your cottage - it was perfect for us!

    Justine2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Elizabeth’s Airbnb- it was a lovely place to return to and had everything we needed. We especially appreciated all the suggestions that she provided us beforehand, as well as the information left for us in the flat with local things to do.

  • Lovely stay in gorgeous little spot near crickhowell , highly recommend

    David2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzie’s place in the welsh countryside is a delightful peaceful retreat within a stones throw of some of the best attractions in the Brecon Beacons including the big peaks and the four falls trail (worth a trip!!). Very close to crickhowell in which The Bear was a wonderful pub with excellent food (Make sure you try the lamb rump- it was to die for!). Very secluded but excellent instructions will make sure you get to the property even in the dark. Very warm, cosy property with everything you might need to cook for yourself. Only slight downside is it is a downstairs flat, so it can be a bit noisy from the upstairs air bnb habitants even just walking around. Having said that it is in an incredibly peaceful location so other noise isn’t an issue.

    Georgina2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This house was one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed at. The house was lovey and set in the most amazing location, just what we wanted for our relaxing new year, we had a lovely walk just outside the door step which was a bonus! The directions to get to the house were clear and easy to follow. Elizabeth was very helpful and kind when we had a problem. Can’t wait to come back for another relaxing holiday.

Pontypool (Welsh: Pont-y-pŵl [ˌpɔntəˈpuːl]) is a town that is home to approximately 36,000 people in the county borough of Torfaen, within the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire in South Wales It is situated on the Afon Lwyd river in the county borough of Torfaen. Situated on the eastern edge of the South Wales coalfields, Pontypool grew around industries including iron and steel production, coal mining and the growth of the railways. A rather artistic manufacturing industry which also flourished here alongside heavy industry was Japanning, a type of lacquer ware. Pontypool has a notable history as one of the earliest industrial towns in Wales. The town and its immediate surroundings were home to significant industrial and technological innovations, with links to the iron industry dating back to the early fifteenth century when a bloomery furnace was established at Pontymoile During the sixteenth century, largely due to the influence of the Hanbury family, the area developed its association with the iron industry and continued to consolidate its position in the seventeenth century, when the development of the town began in earnest. Throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the metallurgical and extractive industries of the area, along with the development of the canals and railways, provided the impetus to the expansion of Pontypool and its surrounding villages and communities. its very green here and we love out doors stuff like shooting fishing and mountain biking.. the walks are bracing or leisurely based on your inclination and the people are really friendly the outlying areas vary from the true Valleys where Tom Jones was born to buzzy Abergavenny and Usk
  • We have just came back from a long weekend at Serafinas b&b. Really relaxed the whole time. Bed was so comfortable and so was the sofa, couldn’t decide which one to sit and watch Netflix on. Choice of breakfast is provided in your room with tea coffee and also orange juice! I really recommend if you’d like a relaxed weekend away. Food at the Lower new inn is also a great choice for dinner, we went both nights! It’s about 5-6 minutes drive from the b&b. Thank you for a great stay.

  • Barbara is a Lovely host who clearly really cares about everyone who stays here A brilliant place to stay too, great location and lots of touches which give it a nice home feeling Can’t fault it at all, lovely person, lovely place

  • You will get a warm welcome From Barbara. The accommodation shares a front door and stairway, but elsewise is self contained, and Barbara is happy to let you decide how much contact, if any, there is. There is a fridge/freezer, kettle and microwave which we found perfect for our needs. There are local pubs that serve food, more choice is available at either Abergavenny or Crickhowel. The canal that goes through Gilwern provides a relatively flat walking surface and way to enjoy the countryside as an alternative to climbing the many local steep hills.

  • The Cwtch is a real find - extremely good value accommodation of a high standard. Barbara is a friendly and helpful host and there is nothing she has not thought of to make the Cwtch a welcoming and comfortable place to stay - I look forward to returning again in the Summer 😊

    Lesley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful find. The Cwtch has everything we needed. It was clean and warm with comfy beds and plenty of hot water for showers. Tea, coffee and milk were provided, as well as yummy welsh cakes. Barbara is a welcoming and helpful host. Our stay was fantastic value for money and we would highly recommend The Cwtch.

    Jill2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place and Barbara was very helpful, there was a minor issue with heating that was quickly resolved. Comms and check in were great. Sorry that I broke one of the wine glasses!

    Roger2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Cwtch was perfect for our needs. There was much more space than I expected, and having our own lounge which we could store the bikes in as well as relax in was also a bonus! Barbara was and excellent host: communicating promptly, offering advice for dinner and being extremely welcoming and accommodating. I would certainly stay again if I was in the area and would recommend. Thanks for looking after us!

    Janine2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was way above expectations!! We really loved the lodge, especially the details of the lodge (perfect setting, nice view, funny rubber ducks right next to the bad tub, kitchen fully equipt, etc.) and the extra's received upon arrival (milk, bread and cookies!!). You could see that everything was very well thought out. The area was very nice to explore and the lodge served as a perfect weekend gettaway. I would definitely reccomend this to everyone.

There were also a number a number of really thoughtful touches like eggs and milk in the fridge and a fresh loaf of bread for you on arrival, super clean too.

  • My girlfriend and I had a stay in the cabin for a weekend break with trips to Aber and Cardiff. The cabin was perfect for a quiet getaway - the pictures don't do it enough justice. It's a wonderful cabin in a quiet spot with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. There were complimentary essentials in the kitchen, including coffee, tea, bread, milk, eggs and Welsh Cakes which was a nice touch and meant after a long day travelling we didn't go hungry or thirsty. Location wise it was great for drives into Aber and longer trips out to Cardiff (about 45 mins drive). We also had a wander down into Gilwern where there were a few nice local pubs. We stopped in for a drink at the Corn Exchange which was amazingly friendly. All in all we cannot wait to go back and will absolutely be recommending the stay to friends and family.

Beautiful cottage in the foothills of the Black Mountains. Ideal for a relaxing break or walking holidays. Fantastic country pubs and the stunning Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal within short walking distance.
The Mill House is in a qiuet road in the village of Gilwern. A soothing walled river runs close to the house. The canal is just a very short walk away and there are many places to walk or cycle in this AONB There are many original features of the old mill house with a modern Aga cooker, stone floors and 2 log burning stoves. A secure backyard suitable for safe bike storage and a fenced garden safe for dogs and young children. Wi-Fi is available and there are T.V's in 2 rooms with Sky, netflicks etc. The kitchen is well equiped and has a dishwasher and washing machine. The vilage has 3 pubs who all serve food and are dog friendly.
Gilwern is a lovely friendly village with a history. It is on the edge of the Brecon Beacons (AONB). The canal is a lovely gentle walk (suitable for buggies) and for the more strenuous there are a huge variety of hill/mountain walks within a short drive from the house. There are a number of leisure activities in the area to suit all ages. A great place just to relax !
  • The perfect base for visiting the Brecon Beacons

  • Great for a weekend break - cosy house with all the amenities you need and a few extra little luxuries (like Welsh cakes!). Good location for walks and a couple of local pubs! Carol was also very helpful and responsive. Thanks Carol!

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful house - very comfortable, spacious and welcoming. Would highly recommend. Thanks so much Carol.

  • Spent a great two nights in The Mill House. Nice quiet location next to river. Good space for a family of 4 and good kitchen facilities. Didn’t try the pubs in the village but headed to Crickhowell instead. Good fish and chip shop in village. Good tow path walks from the house and good location for exploring the Brecon Beacons area further. Carol very good at keeping in touch and checking all was ok. Would recommend.

    Rachel2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic and cosy cottage with everything we needed and in a beautiful spot. Carol was a lovely host, very warm and welcoming with lots of helpful advice for our trip.

    Louise2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little mill cottage. We booked last minute and Carol rushed over to clean it after the last residents so we could get in. She met us there and explained everything and gave us some recomenations for places to go. Carol was lovely, helpful and fast to respond. There were some jam tarts for us, along with milk and some basics of tea, coffee, sugar, oil, foil ect. The mill is a beautiful old building so expect uneven floors and some quirks but that's a beauty of an old building. Highly recomend the canal walk.

    Nicola2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great base to walk from. Nice area and village. House has all you need to rest and relax after days out.

    Paul2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Mill House is beautiful. We stayed over Christmas and Carol had decorated the house beautifully, with lots of Christmas touches (including Christmas-y crockery) and left us a bare Christmas tree that we were able to decorate when we arrived. The house is on a quiet street in Gilwern, the only sounds really came from the river below the house. We enjoyed the wood burner in the lounge, and we managed to cook a decent Christmas roast in the kitchen. Bedrooms were very cosy, and the bathroom was fine for our family of four. Communication with Carol was excellent - we had a plumbing incident on Christmas Eve that could not have been predicted and was speedily fixed. We were also given the option of an early arrival time and a late departure time to maximise our time in the house. We had a super time walking the dog and relaxing in the house, and we will definitely be back. Thanks very much Carol!

Set within the Brecon Beacons National Park, our place is perfect for walking, cycling and visiting the nearby Bleaenavon World Heritage sites including Big Pit, Blaenavon Ironworks and the Pontypool & Blaenavon Heritage Railway. The charming market town of Abergavenny is only 6 miles away and well worth a visit.
One bedroom with double bed and clothes rail. Shared use of bathroom, dining room and kitchen. The main benefit of staying with us is our location. Set in the Brecon Beacons, in the village of Llanelly Hill, it is a perfect place for those who want to discover the unique beauty of the area, as well as those interested in industrial history and archaeology.
We feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. The area has loads of walks and trails and plenty of cycle tracks. We are about 3 miles from the World Heritage site of Blaenavon, a must see for anyone interested in industrial history. Although we no longer have a village shop, there are plenty of shops in Brynmawr, just a couple of miles away. There is a village pub - The Jolly Collier - just 500 metres away. It serves food but only on a Wednesday, Thursday (Tapas night) Friday & Saturday - 6-9 and on Saturday and Sunday lunch 12 - 2.30. It is a lovely friendly place and the food is excellent. Would advise to make a reservation as it is only a small place and gets booked very quickly. I am happy to book for anyone who would like to eat there. The Racehorse Inn is relatively close, and although it can be done on foot, the hill up to it is very steep. They are open every night from 6.30 for meals and serve Sunday lunch 12-3. Again I can make bookings on guests behalf. The Bridgend Inn, in the nearby town of Brynmawr, is another good place to eat. Regular Menu served Monday-Saturday 12 -9pm. Sunday lunch 12 - 4. Happy to book on guests behalf

  • We had such a lovely stay, the hut is a really unique place to stay, really quirky and cute! It was so clean and well equipped, perfect for our night’s stay!

    Kirsty2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a weekend break in the Brecons. The hut was lovely, with super sweet touches to make it a bit more special - including a banner for our anniversary. The other reviews are true, once you enter you'll be surprised at how spacious the whole cabin is, with plenty of room for 2. The only thing was that the low ceiling across the edges of the hut meant the bed felt a bit tight for two and I did hit my head a few times. However, the sofa contains a sofa-bed which is more than comfy for watching TV or if you wanted to stay down there. The hut stayed lovely and warm and the setting felt secluded (despite being within a residential area). Lovely stay, would definitely recommend! Thanks Michelle

Gaer Cottage is one of two cottages converted from a stone barn built in the 18th century. This peaceful retreat is set in 45 acres of ancient meadow and woodland in the foothills of the Black Mountains within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Gaer cottage is surrounded by woodland and nature. It is lovely to be able to walk out of your front door on to private peaceful paths and to explore the countryside. Enjoy birdsong during the day and starry skies at night.
Gaer cottage is in a secluded valley in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is on National Cycle Route 42 and close to the Cwm Coed-y-Cerrig Nature Reserve. Good local pubs include the Crown at Pantygelli and excellent restaurants can be found in Abergavenny - which also hosts an annual food festival.
  • The Gaer was a lovely cottage and very conveniently location. The cottage was clean, warm and very well set up. Belinda was a lovely host and extremely helpful! Would highly recommend

  • Photos does not do this place justice! Beautiful little cottage, which felt bigger in person than on the photos. Plenty of room for us to get around the table in the kitchen. Fresh cake and eggs on arrival. Lots of gorgeous scenery to explore, really recommend climbing to the top of the mountain. Fantastic views at the top! Our dog loved it and even had a spare field for him to roam around in. Five stars. Hopefully be returning soon!

  • Peace and quiet, comfortable and clean. Lovely hosts.

    Sarah2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, both hosts were friendly & helpful, & a delicious cake was waiting in the fridge! The location is perfect for exploring the area, & relaxing there with the chickens. A peaceful, quiet spot, comfortable house & spotlessly clean. I love the area so will definitely be going back to Gaer Cottage again next time.

    Tracy2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was so close to us and yet we felt we were in the middle of nowhere! We shall definitely return soon.

    Alison2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The photos do not do the cottage justice, it was a really homely space to stay in. The woodlands and gardens are fantastic, and there is so much to do close by to do.

    Michelle2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Gaer Cottage, we received 6 free range chicken eggs and a freshly baked cake upon arrival! There are some amazing walks in all directions, including one that begins right from the back of the grounds and another just across the road. There is a small shop & 2 dog friendly pubs with food & drink within a 5 minute drive or 30/40 minute walk. Gaer is also dog friendly & Belinda was an amazing host, she made us feel all feel very welcome. We will definitely be visiting again!

    Rowan2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful host, top quality accommodation and comfort. Well equipped kitchen, where we were fine with four around the table enjoying those super fresh eggs straight from the chickens! The home made welcome cake was delicious too. Wonderful location as a base for walking in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. Very dog friendly. Can't fault this stay and can't wait to come back!

The Studio is a quiet and cosy detached retreat on an exclusive development yet it is situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of Crickhowell with its tourist office and many interesting shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. The Studio was newly let in late 2017 with fresh decoration, kitchen, fixtures, fittings and carpets. The mezzanine bedroom has a comfortable King sized bed.
Full gas boiler central heating/ hot water and highly insulated walls and loft make The Studio a really cosy retreat. Return from a day in the Brecon Beacons to a well equipped interior which includes: Smart LED TV with Freeview, YouTube etc/ Unlimited Fast Fibre broadband/ WiFi / DVD Player/ DAB Radio with Bluetooth speaker facility/ 4G Mobile Signal. Books, games, magazines, DVD box sets and movies provided. New for 2019 is a G00GLE Home Mini to answer questions about the locality. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. Throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the metallurgical and extractive industries of the area, along with the development of the canals and railways, provided the impetus to the expansion of Pontypool and its surrounding villages and communities. its very green here and we love out doors stuff like shooting fishing and mountain biking.. the walks are bracing or leisurely based on your inclination and the people are really friendly the outlying areas vary from the true Valleys where Tom Jones was born to buzzy Abergavenny and Ask

Spacious, light & airy double bedroom on a hilltop. Close to local sightseeing or visitor attractions. Quiet location with beautiful views. Cwmbran=10min, Newport=20min, Cardiff=40min, Abergavenny=30min, Brecon=50min (based on actual driving to these places!). Tesco (5min-cheap petrol), corner shop 1min walk. Included in price: ~ WiFi ~ Towels ~ Toiletries ~ Hairdryer ~ Washing machine ~ Breakfast (cereal, eggs, toast etc - help yourself) ~ Television in the bedroom with Now TV & Netflix.
The house is 100 years old, with a few quirky features such as a fireplace and original floorboards in the bedroom. Just as a heads up, the floor boards do squeak! You will share the house including kitchen and bathroom with me, my partner Tom, and my cat Magic. You will have your own mini fridge in the kitchen and a drinks cooler in the bedroom. Your bedroom has a lock on the door. You have a television in your room with Netflix and catchup tv, and a digital radio, and Fibre Fast WiFi across the whole house.
The house is at the top of a hill with stunning views. It is on a quiet, friendly street where most of the neighbours know each other. We are surrounded by hills and trees in this area of Wales, it is the perfect location to get away from city life! You are close to a Tesco and a short drive away from Cwmbran, Usk and Abergavenny. You are less than half hour from Newport, and less than an hour from Brecon Beacons National Park, or Cardiff. There is a lot to see and do in the local area, have a look at 'visit Monmouthshire' or 'visit Caerphilly' or 'visit Cardiff' websites. There is a lot of castles, areas of natural beauty, walking and cycling paths, and museums and old towns. I also could recommend some lovely pubs and farm shops in the area!

  • I arrived, bedraggled after cycling from Bristol. Vanessa and Tom are perfect hosts and helped me settle in, in my tired state. I only stayed one night and found them very accommodating. The house is very much as described with a large kitchen/diner with tea/coffee etc and a continental help yourself breakfast, ready for you in the morning. A large double bedroom with nice bedding and towels and a spacious/modern bathroom. Nice and quiet at night so I think you are assured a good nights sleep. The house is an attractive Victorian looking house, elevated with long views across the valley. Can't fault, thank you guys!

Luxury Cabin is actually a hot tub room that came with the house - used the hot tub twice and stuck the thing on Ebay . Cabin has wifi , power, heating , a Tv and loads of DVD's . There is a double bed. There is an adjacent basic kitchen and a rustic WC and shower . The garden here is massive and full of poultry . We are in the wilderness of South Wales so if you visit in January bring a coat. Whilst the cabin is not the Savoy we are at least friendly.
Think of the cabin like comfortable camping with a bed electricity wifi and heating - and no packing up !
Holly Tree cottage is located in the south wales valleys on the edge of the Brecon Beacons - there are some fantastic cycle tracks around here and Garn Motorcycles (where Richie works) hire out push bikes so if you fancy cycling about let us know before you are coming and we can sort bikes out for you
  • Amazing

    Loretta2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Desperately needed a little get away! And we hit Jackpot!!! This was PERFECT! We only stayed for the night and it was a stormy rainy night at that, absolutely amazing nostalgic feeling with the rain and wind thrashing around the shed, it wasn’t to loud or anything because it’s fairly sheltered anyway! Was just perfect and cosy. We didn’t expect all the little extras either! And it was so well kitted out, warm inside, electric blanket, drinks and snacks, ‘kettle!’ TV & DVD player with an epic selection to choose from! We drove to a local pub for food and it was 10/10, everyone in the area was lovely and hospitable! The hosts were such friendly salt of the earth people, literally made you feel at home, so welcoming and attentive. We got to help ourselves in the little out kitchen and make Breakfast in the morning, we were joined by some lovely majestic Turkeys, hilarious hens, the cuuuuutest cats and even a random sheep! We’re going back! We recommend it, and for those who love the country, love that outdoors vibe and raw earthy feel, this is for you! Book now, enjoy as much as we did :-) Thanks again so much Rich and Hester. See you soon x x

An off grid rural glamping retreat in a hand built oak frame cabin on the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain and spectacular views. Enjoy the cosy loft bed and glow of the wood burning stove, wood supplied. There is a posh compost loo and the bathroom is a converted horse box, plenty of hot water and bath with a view. Once there you will enjoy complete peace (no WiFi or signal here) amongst wildlife, a spring fed pond and barbecue area. Steep access down the field; you must be relatively fit.
Bluebell Cabin is on the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain in the Black Mountain region of Abergavenny. It is glamping heaven in a peaceful wild field of your own. The owners live at the top of the field. There is gas burner cooking, a barbecue, solar lighting and lots of hot water. The loft bed is a cosy space. An ideal place for walking, cycling, mountain biking, wild swimming or unwinding and getting away from it all within designated dark sky area status.
Forest Coalpit is a tiny hamlet in the heart of the spectacular Black Mountains. We are ten minutes from Llanthony Abbey, a great evening cycle with a welcome beer at the end. The Black Mountain Cycle Centre is ten minutes away with some great mountain biking. We have sheep on site and our cat (Jones) and dog (Spud) are both likely to pay you a visit.
  • Our stay was absolutely perfect. The cabin is beautiful and exactly what we needed to take a breath from our busy life. The little touches and added comforts made the stay even better. Truly the best weekend away we have ever had. The love and attention to the cabin pours out and stays with you. And that bath...!

  • This is a lovely and very relaxing spot. The cabin is beautiful and there are lots of lovely little touches everywhere like cosy rugs and blankets and a light that's perfect for reading on the sofa near the fire. I stayed for 2 nights alone and it was a perfect secluded but safe spot that is close to lots of lovely walks. Anne is a very welcoming host and ensured I had everything I needed. Would definitely recommend.

  • We stayed at Bluebell Cabin for a blissful birthday weekend, it's a beautiful and cosy space for tranquil slow living. Everything you need to relax and enjoy is right here ... If it isn't, you probably don't need it (especially WiFi!). Particularly enjoyed toasting marshmallows in the fire, a brainwave extra touch! Will definitely be back...

    Justin2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic weekend. The hosts were very relaxed and the accommodation was fully equipped. We cooked outside on the BBQ and enjoyed baths looking out at the view. It is so peaceful and you can go for numerous incredible hikes straight from the door. Sugarloaf is highly recommended.

    Charlotte2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights in this beautiful cabin but could have stayed for weeks! It's really spacious and comfortable with so many thoughtful touches - sofa, blankets, firewood, books and games. The solar lighting was just as good as electrical lighting and the hot water supply was reliable - the bath in the horsebox is a genius idea and so relaxing! Definitely climb up Sugarloaf mountain if you can, it's an easy but stunning walk from the cabin. We didn't bring a car, but arranging taxis from Abergavenny was easy enough (around £12). Anne was kind enough to drive us to Crickhowell at the end of our stay as well. Finally, if you like dogs you can hang out with the lovely Spud, an added bonus :)

  • Great location, brilliant communication, very well stocked fridge. Although we don’t have kids there were plenty of toys and entertainment available which I thought was impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Dewi & Sarah’s place and would highly recommend it.

  • Lovely and comfy, and hosts left lots of treats for us to enjoy over the Christmas season! Would definitely stay here again

    Christopher2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in center of town. Just what we needed Hospitality and communication was great and we would stay here again

    Nick2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay at Dewi & Sarah’s place . The location is just perfect as it’s in town but yet very peaceful plus having parking was a bonus. The cottage is spacious and homely with lots of added finishing touches like a lovely Christmas Tree! Also found plenty of edible goodies in the cupboard and fridge including a bottle of wine for no extra charge. Communication was very efficient. We had a couple of issues which was soon dealt with. Also we were both pleasantly surprise when we had a text from Dewi & Sarah offering us an extra night free of charge as an apology! Would definitely stay at this AirBnB accommodation again when visiting Abergavenny in future and will recommend it to family & friends.

Our self-catering annex features its own entrance, a cosy bed-sitting room and a wet-floor spacious bathroom. It provides the perfect base for exploring the glorious Brecon Beacons, as well as the numerous beauty sites around Abergavenny.
A very comfortable, self-contained annex to the main house with its own access on the edge of the Brecon Beacons and three miles from Abergavenny. The accommodation comprises one main room with double bed, breakfast area and comfortable chairs. It also has its own wet room shower and toilet. The annex has full central heating. Freeview TV is provided and there is Wi-Fi access. The kitchenette area of the room includes a sink, fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. On arrival, guests will find a 'welcome pack', including fruit, cereals, jams, bread, butter, a supply of tea, coffee, sugar and milk. The courtyard, which is shared with your hosts, provides a regular sun trap and there is also a small garden. Annual events in the area include the Food Festival, wall2wall Jazz Festival and Cycle Rally in Abergavenny, as well as Brecon Jazz Festival and Hay Festival. The house is situated close to the canal and within easy reach of the Sugar Loaf and other high areas.
We live in Gilwern, which is three miles from Abergavenny and a half hour drive from Brecon. The village has three pubs and several small shops and it is quickly reached along the towpath of the Monmouth-Brecon canal, which is on our doorstep. We are surrounded by three high peaks, including the well-known Sugar Loaf.
  • Mike and Mal were lovely hosts and really went the extra mile, sharing lots of local tips about things to do, and stocking up the apartment with allergen-friendly food! The apartment was a great space – cosy, quiet and quirky with everything you could need. Walks in the surrounding area, on canals and mountains, were just beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful stay :-)

This would be an ideal space for any keen walkers or cyclists. Located between the cycle path, canal pathway and the legendary tumbles mountain this is an ideal base for anybody looking to get outside and explore. Abergavenny is a 40 minute walk along the cycle path, 5 minutes in a car.
  • Absolutely loved staying here! The pictures do not to it justice. The bed is extremely cosy & comfy. The place was spotless and could recommend staying here enough.

    Sarah2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Hayley's place was beautifully clean and felt so fresh and new. And 'perfectly formed' home is anything but small---the photos don't do the place justice!-- it's really spacious and airy. Especially upstairs (yes two floors!) Really fab space, brilliantly stocked kitchen for all your cooking and baking needs, super light in the lounge, and could accommodate 4 of us generously. Cosy and warm, conveniently close to the lovely canal, and was the perfect base for walks above Llangatock, Sugar loaf and the black mountains. Hayley and family were all wonderfully accommodating and welcoming. Thanks Hayley! xx

    Rosanna2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • A very well presented space. Access was easy and well explained and we were left to it. I think due to poor phone signal in the area, Wi-fi would enhance the stay. But apart from that, the place is lovely.

    James2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to come and stay with a comfortable bed, plenty of space and a well equipped kitchen for cooking

Quaint and cosy two-bedroomed cottage in the village of Nantyglo in the South Wales Valleys. We've introduced lots of exciting new discounts for 2020! There's a 10% early bird discount if booking 6 months ahead, 10% off for bookings of 7 days or more, and a low-occupancy discount for smaller groups. Travel cot, high chair and toys are available at no extra charge. We can also supply pet crates at no charge. Please request when booking (no more than one large dog or two small dogs please).
The space is decorated in a cosy cottage style, with a lounge and small fitted kitchen downstairs, and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The kitchen has both a fridge and a freezer, a full-size gas cooker, sink, kettle and ample cutlery and crockery. Upstairs there is a twin room and a small double, and in the lounge downstairs there is a sofa bed. (With the sofa bed and travel cot, the cottage can potentially sleep up to seven, including children and infants, but please note that there is just one bathroom in the property and the living spaces are quite small.) There is a small flight of steps up to the front door and the stairs up to the bedrooms and bathroom are quite narrow. Therefore access for disabled guests is limited. (Please consider booking our other property, Aderyn Mawr in Blaina, if you or a member of your party has disabilities, as this may be more suitable.)
Once one of the most important iron-producing centres in the world, Nantyglo is situated close to the famous Brecon Beacons National Park, popular with walkers and cyclists for its dramatic scenery and challenging terrain. Venture further afield and you can visit the market town of Abergavenny to the east, or Caerphilly to the south - famous for its cheese and its impressive medieval castle. Or you can also explore Welsh history through a visit to Big Pit National Coal Museum, part of the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape which is a World Heritage Site. The Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway and Brecon Mountain Railway are nearby.
  • Excellent value cottage will plentiful amenities and brilliant communication. Would not hesitate to recommend to others. Thanks for a great stay.

Can't say much about the area as the fog didn't lift all weekend but I'm sure it's a great location for exploring the beautiful Welsh countryside. Super cosy and comfy with everything we needed, and great communication with our host who supplied all the information we needed to find local shops and places to eat.

A Green Oak framed, airy open plan garden room with gorgeous views over Crickhowell and Table Mountain. Sleeping up to 2 people in over 25sq m of contemporary accommodation. If you’re feeling adventurous give it a try, there’s underfloor heating, kitchen, shower and plenty of room, the vaulted ceiling is partially glazed for views of the stars. The space is still a work in progress and hence at a very attractive price.
A large open plan eating, living and sleeping area with fantastic views over the stone flagged seating area and the wider garden and fabulous mountains. A separate WC with shower. Separate kitchen facilities.
Within easy walk of Crickhowell with its many varied independent shops, pubs and eateries. Winner of UK Best High Street. Home to the GreenMan Festival, River Usk and Monmouth & Brecon Canal. Fabulous walking from the front door.
  • Jonathan's house is perfectly in the middle of the countryside, and we walked from the doorstep. The views are amazing, though it was quite misty. Jonathan is a lovely host - accommodating, kind and down-to-earth. We had a lovely short stay & a great walk along the river just down the hill from Jonathan's place, where there was lots of birds and gorgeous greenery.
