  • We stayed here for my birthday on the 20th March. It was even better than I could have imagined. Incredibly cosy and a wonderful escape during these stressful times! Andy was more than attentive and it seemed like there was so request too great. It’s an amazing location and the cabin has everything you could need - even hand gel!!!! We will be back with the dog next time to explore the surrounding walks! If your pizzas end up as bad as ours then we recommend the The Lyon Inn pub... the fish and chips were incredible - even as a takeaway. Thank you again. Beth + Fred x

  • If you’re looking for a hideaway this is the perfect place. A gorgeous log cabin with views over the woods, complete with a pizza oven, decking with outdoor seating and a separate outdoor toilet in the next log cabin. If you love cosy this is the place! We hope to come back again soon, although fear it may get booked up very quickly!!

  • This is the perfect place to stay if you just want to get away from everything. The log cabin is lovely and cosy and has heating if it gets a bit cold at night. I loved looking at all of the quirky items which were placed all around the cabin, they were a nice touch. The patio area is lovely too, I enjoyed relaxing by the fire in the evening and making pizza to cook in the pizza oven. If you want to get away from the stresses of every day life then this is the place to stay.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin. A beautiful secluded spot to relax and a lovely cabin. The host was very helpful and easy to contact throughout our stay. There was information about places to eat which helped us find a lovely restaurant called the Farmers Boy Inn which had amazing pies. We would love to visit again!

    Stephanie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z

  • Haven on the Hill is a fantastic getaway for people wanting a peaceful relaxing time. Andrew and Vicky were attentive to our needs and went above and beyond providing games for us to play. 9 lives the chicken was a fantastic wake up call. We will definitely be staying again!! There are lots of natural beauty spots locally to see but the view from the cabin takes some beating.

  • Tracey is a great host, with excellent communication from booking through to meeting us when we arrived. The lodge is lovely, extremely clean and modern throughout and the hot tub is a great added extra. Plus, the scones waiting for us on arrival we’re beautiful! We had a lovely, relaxing weekend and would definitely return again in the future!

    Laura2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tracey and David were fantastic from the check-in to check-out . Extremely accommodating and once checked in, left us to enjoy our stay . The suggestions were spot on, we had an incredible meal at the Tudor Farmhouse and plenty of grounds to take our dog for a walk. Gloucester in general is a lovely scenic area . The cottage is extremely cute , especially as it was our 5 year anniversary . The Hot Tub was all prepared for us and lovely. It feels as though you are in the middle of nowhere, lovely and peaceful, yet a short drive from the nearest town and local amenities - perfect. Would highly recommend this as a getaway for any couple , honestly amazing . Thank you both

  • Great place for a getaway, smell of fresh air and an amazing soothing surrounding.

    Halil2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing stay at the Mill Garden Lodge. I surprised my boyfriend with this for his birthday and Tracey was absolutely amazing, she sorted out some personalised balloons to be at the lodge for arrival and also delicious cake and locally brewed beer for his birthday. The hot tub was amazing, even in the unfortunate storm we had on our stay, we still managed to get into the hot tub and relax! Can’t recommend enough. Thank you very much Tracey for everything you did, it really did make the weekend extra special for my boyfriends birthday.

    Katie2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Tracey was a fantastic host and the lodge is absolutely fantastic. Spotlessly clean and all the facilities you need. The hot tub is well worth the extra money - we spent many an hour relaxing next to the stream in the warmth of the tub. Tracey had left us some home made brownies which were delicious. When she found out it was my partners 30th (on the day of arrival) she left a birthday banner and some locally brewed beer as a birthday treat. Could not fault the whole experience!

    Chris2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Tracey and David! Right from the start you were the most welcoming hosts. Great little touches from the most amazing chocolate brownies we’ve ever tasted to being kind enough to taxi us to and from the Farmers Boy Inn, so that we could celebrate my fiancé’s birthday. The lodge is located in the best place. There is so much to see and do in the local area. Highly recommend this little find. ☺️

  • This is such a lovely little place to stay ,the caravan is beautiful and everything you could need is thought of. We especially enjoyed the outside firepit, great for cooking meals on. Definitely a memorable experience ,would love to stay again sometime!

    Tanya2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Percy's Gypsy Wagon was, somehow, even better than we had expected. Despite the small size of the caravan, it was extremely well stocked, with lots of kitchenware and plenty of blankets (and a wood stove!). Andy and Vicky were kind, helpful, and attentive hosts, and Percy, Max, and the chicken were all delightful! I would highly recommend a stay here.

    Abigail2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The wagon is truly fantastic! Perfect location and the hosts are great. They went the extra mile to make my stay special - nothing was too much.

    Leanne2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous cosy little spot! Exactly as described in the listing. Would recommend walking to the forest bakehouse for lunch!

    Xannie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning, peacefully, tranquil, surreal, chilled, nostalgic I mean their would be so many ways to describe this place all of them good, thank you for allowing us to stay, it was brilliant.

    Stuart2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely unique place to stay to unwind and spend some time away . Communication with the hosts was great and thanks for recommending the farmers boy for dinner! X

    Stephanie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect cosy and unusual escape from modern life!

    Sue2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I enjoyed the most splendid three nights at the wagon (we gathered form the reviews that one night only would not suffice). It was great to settle in and get comfortable in the space. We loved how it felt only a few degrees off from camping; it was rustic but cozy and we made do in the small but cleverly-set up space. The adjacent outhouse was adorable and we loved the quirky decor. Andy and Vicky were the best hosts with whom I've ever had the pleasure of staying in my years of using Airbnb; they were present and helpful, offering great tips, taking our dishes to wash, and keeping our water jugs filled. Defiantly plan to book with them again and would highly recommend to others. One thing I will say is that the wagon may be a bit tight for taller guests; the bed, which spans the width of the wagon, fit my friend and me but we're on the shorter side; not sure my husband would have been quite as comfortable, so something to consider when deciding to book.

It was lovely and warm, the jacuzzi was amazing. I can’t think of one negative thing to say about this place! The little touches like the breakfast bits just made it that little bit extra special! It’s also amazing if you have dogs too as it’s dog friendly which I loved! We will deffo be coming back here if we’re ever in the area.

  • Sonya is a wonderful host. So many personal and thoughtful touches because it was my birthday. Very kind. The view from the hot tub is perfect. We had a great relaxing weekend.

    Thea2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute place to stay and relax! Sonya is so lovely and welcoming and gave us some great ideas of things to do during our stay. Unfortunately we didn't use the hot tub due to the weather but it is a lovely hot tub and very easy to use with a scenic view. Luckily the weather didn't stop us from having a lovely weekend! Thank you so much Sonya!

    Lucy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was an absolutely magical experience - the Annex is beautiful, cosy and super clean. Sonya was the perfect host, lovely to speak to, thoughtful (personal touches noted!) and so accommodating. The amenities were plentiful, with everything you could think of. For anyone with children, the Annex is an absolute gold mine - lots of games, DVDs, books and toys for hours of entertainment. The hot tub is the finishing touch - it is LUSH! It lives right by the Annex but is very private as it's surrounded by shrubs/greenery. You can enjoy looking up at the night sky if you fancy going for a dip in the evening, or look out into the fields by day. I'd encourage anyone looking into staying here to go for it, it was an amazing experience and we look forward to coming back!

Sonya had added some lovely touches including but not limited to home made fudge and apple juice. The hot tub is perfect and with great views from it, lovely on a cold winters night. The local pub is a must visit for fantastic food and friendly staff. With Sonya being a delightful host to wrap it all together!

  • We had a fantastic stay with friends, when we arrived we received a friendly welcome. The highlight for us was the hot tub, especially at night to gaze up at the stars on a clear night. The location was spot on for some great walks and a short distance to a smashing pub which served top quality food.

Underdean Lodge is a lovingly restored 2 double bedroom Georgian lodge on the edge of the Forest of Dean and is the perfect base for exploring both the Forest and the Wye Valley. The lodge includes beautiful period features and a wood burning stove. Dogs welcome. Footpaths lead to the Forest from the front door. We are ideally located adjacent to the A48 for convenient access to Gloucester, Monmouth and Chepstow which are all about 25 minutes away. View 'The Space' for Covid-19 measures taken.
We have restored this Grade 2 listed Georgian gate house sympathetically but with all the modern touches one requires for a comfortable stay away from home. The lodge is warm and cosy and despite its proximity to the road, is extremely quiet, thanks to high quality secondary and double glazing throughout. The house is decorated throughout with prints and photos of the surrounding area and we have a large map in the kitchen to help you plan your days out and country walks. COVID-19 UPDATE: Here is some additional information about the lodge in light of recent government announcements. We hope these put your mind at rest and show that you can still visit yet stay within current rules. - The lodge is located at least 30m from our house and more than 100m from any other neighbours. It also has it's own private parking area. - There are walks into the open countryside direct from the door. - Many of our guests have received online shopping deliveries to the lodge in the past so we know this is possible. - The lodge will be fully aired between guests. - We've implemented a new, even more rigorous, cleaning regime ensuring that all surfaces are throroughly washed with a bleach based cleaning fluid and we wash bedding in Dettol anti bacterial washing detergent (sensitive).
Breathtaking views of the River Severn are accessible just a few minutes walk from the Lodge and for those who want to go further, Forest walks are a 15 minute walk away down a pretty country lane. The Lodge is the ideal base from which to explore the Forest with multiple walks and amenities within the Forest, such as GO APE!, just a 10 minute drive away. The Cock Inn in Blakeney is a superb friendly local with a welcoming fire, lovely beer garden and terrific food as well. Blakeney is also served by a nice Italian restaurant, Dolce Vita, and a decent Fish & Chip Shop. Newnham is also only a couple of miles away. This, again, offers a range of pubs, a great cafe and some lovely shops in which to browse. There is also an excellent local butcher (open on Fridays and Saturdays). Lydney (10 minutes drive away) has a Tesco and Co-op and all the shops and services you'd expect from a mid sized town.
  • Lovely lodge. Perfect for a couple or small family. There are loads of public footpaths close by and places to visit. Very good value for money. We would go back again.

    Kayleigh2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • A great little cottage in a good location with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The log burner was easy to use and was a cozy addition to the evenings. TV is a little on the small side but this only really mattered in the evenings and most of the time we were too tired from the days activities to bother with it and opted for wine instead! Shower was good and beds comfortable. Perfect accommodation for dogs too as can isolate them from certain areas which was perfect for our puppy. All in all a great stay and good value for money.

    Lucy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing place. Really easy check in process and all the information ready to go. A nice cozy lodge perfect for a country getaway! And even better that it was dog friendly!! Definitely recommend.

    JBaxter2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely quaint and cozy lodge, brilliantly placed for the forest and all it can offer. Great hosts who keep you informed bit leave you to it in the right way. Would definitely recommend and use again. Don’t miss out on this one.

  • Great little get away in the forest of dean

    Luke2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay with so many beautiful places to visit so close by. We were recommended by Chris and Beth to visit Beechenhurst and Perrygrove railworld which were great places to visit with our toddler. We had many gorgeous walks with our dog in toe too, would definitely recommend a trip to Symonds Yat Rock, beautiful views and walks! We would love to come back in spring/summer when all the trees have their leaves, a truly beautiful part of the world! Underdean Lodge was already fitted with stair gates making it safe for our toddler, a cute place to stay for a long weekend, thank you again for having us!!

  • Great place for a break away

    Jamie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A beautifully restored gatehouse lodge held in natural woodland with plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area. Beth and Chris were absolutely wonderful hosts; making sure that we had everything we needed with attention to every detail. They made lots of personal touches; sharing local information and bringing extra wood to us for the fire. All in all a thoroughly restorative retreat and base from which you can easily explore the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.

We thoroughly recommend the wood-fired hot tub and Marion and Simon worked hard to get the temperature how we liked it. Thank you very much. We’ll be back again!

  • We had an amazing weekend in a beautiful location. Marion and Simon were lovely hosts, with quick, helpful replies before arrival too. The hot tub was a fantastic addition, in such a peaceful location. Would definitely recommend!

  • Amazing place in a great location. Lovely hosts who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Gave us plenty of tips and kindling to get the pizza oven going which was a great touch. One of the best Airbnb’s we have stayed in.

  • Absolutely lovely place to stay. Perfect if you want to just get away and relax, the hot tub is a experience of its own. You can hear owls and wildlife around and can enjoy the night sky all from the comfort of the hot tub with a glass of wine. Marion and Simon were the best hosts, very kind and helpful the entire stay. We would 100% come back again!

  • Cosy little cottage in a great location, just a short drive to lots of places to visit within the Forest of Dean.

  • A great detached cottage with everything you need for a stay in the a Forest of Dean area. Close to some nearby shops which is handy . I would definitely recommend staying here . 10/10

    Jamie2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is both stylish and beautifully located. We enjoyed a wonderful winter weekend here. Rachel was always prompt to respond to any queries and it was easy to find our way around the workings of the house (which helps when you arrive in the dead of night hours after you planned to arrive!) Everyone loved the house. The views are beautiful and the village charming! Despite arriving as temperatures plunged, the cottage was warm and cozy and immaculately clean. Would be only too happy to return again!

    Molly2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Blacksmiths cottage is a perfect cosy get away. We had a great 4 nights there with our two young daughters and dog. Rachel was very quick to respond and the info for checkin was perfect. The house is just what we expected and had everything you need to have a pleasant and comfortable stay. The location is great - we were 15-20 minutes from everything great that The Forest of Dean had to offer. Highly recommend this property and the host! Thanks.

    Paul2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy cottage that is a great base to explore the surrounding towns. Puzzlewood was an amazing treat and only 15-20 min drive away.

    Leo2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage , perfectly located to explore the Forest of Dean. Having the living room and kitchen upstairs works really well, especially as the gives access to the small garden at the back. October is probably not the time of year to enjoy the garden but in the summer it would be really pleasant sitting outside. The cottage was comfortable and had all the facilities we needed to enjoy our stay. On a practical note there is a coop in the village for anything you might need to stock up on. There's also a chip shop at the bottom of the hill in case you don't feel like cooking and also don't want to go and find one the local pubs. There are plenty to choose from. We enjoyed the Hostelrie at Goodrich. Sunday lunch was really nice and good value offering both a two/three course fixed menu. They also do a curry night on Tuesday. Ross on Wye is only 10 minutes drive away and also Symonds Yat is very close. There is plenty to do and enjoy in the local area. We really enjoyed our stay.

The area is very quiet next to open fields and golf course. There is secure facilities for cycles if required.
Beautiful Forest of Dean 2 miles from Symonds Yat and 1 mile from Speech House with forest walks surrounding all of area. 5 miles from Wye Valley with breathtaking views and excellent cycle tracks. in the centre of Monmouthshire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
  • A really lovely, cosy annex. The location was beautiful and ideal for what we planned to do in the area. Lesley was really friendly and helpful with local tips and a lovely surprise gift package when we arrived. Would love to visit again and would recommend to anyone looking for a little retreat into the countryside!

    George2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Willow Annexe was delightful. At arrival we were greeted by the two very friendly cats. The studio is very cosy with a wonderful view to the forest. We were impressed by the gifts left for us and the attention to detail that Lesley has put into it. The place is equipped with everything you need (kettle, microwave and a little stove with a pan, if you need to prepare something). Even though we have not met Lesley, she responded quickly to our messages and allowed us a late check-out, which is very good on a lazy Sunday morning. We recommend visiting Wye Valley and all of its surroundings. It is a perfect place for a romantic get-away in the countryside. Highly recommended.

I have a bed sittingroom over my garage which is detached from my cottage . Decent sized room, dining table/ chairs etc. Shower + toilet Kitchenette. Own front door from outside parking area. No TV as yet . Wifi being set up. Excellent situation on edge of the Forest of Dean. .... you need a car but good walks/ cycling close by. Plenty of pubs. I can try and help with anything you need to know and make tea or coffee any time!!
I can add one small bed for a child but flat not toddler friendly because of stairs , no gates and garden very wild and steep. Babies no problem.
The neighbour is beautiful, full of trees , walks , rivers a d not far from Welsh border, Worcestershire and the Cotswolds. Horse racing.. Chepstow, Cheltenham not too far.
  • This place is fantastic! We really enjoyed it, there are lots of thoughtful touches and it’s a really cosy space. I’d highly recommend it!

  • Ruth is very nice and helpful. The location is slight difficult to find but you can simply give her a call and she will find you. It is a 15 minutes walk down to town centre with take away, restaurants and supermarkets. There is even a great view for sunrise with her place. You will have your own cabin with private bathroom, kitchen and "living dining bedroom". There is even heat mat on the bathroom and kitchen floors. It is so sweet. Breakfast and some fruits, TV, WiFi are included. The kitchen is fully equipped. There are too much to say. You should try living yourself. It is a place and a cabin that I definitely want to go again and again.

Lots to do in the area for kids and adults, and open space at the campsite to relax. The host was very helpful, and flexible when I was ill and had to arrive late. It was a very comfortable size for three adults, might be a little tight for six. Showers and toilets were very clean. Overall a really lovely camping experience.

  • We had a very nice stay. The house can be a little tricky to find (it's up a slope by a main road with a few other slopes), so make sure to carefully read the instructions. The house is really nice and spacious, the bedrooms are very comfortable and clean and the bathroom was amazing! Great value for money!

    Charlotte2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A very comfortable home, with lots of thoughtful touches. Very enjoyable and our kids loved feeding the cockerels!

    Helen2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • A handy location for exploring lots of places around The Forest of Dean. The house has plenty of thoughtful additions and it is very much a home-from-home.

    Dee2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, boutique style cottage which is tastefully decorated. Well equipped kitchen and dining room and a very comfortable lounge. An early morning call for the Rooster will mean you don't need an alarm clock. The hosts provide a welcome pack - in the fridge and dining room as well as bathroom needs (towels, soap etc) There are a number of steps to navigate and a steep slope to the property is if you are physically challenged this could be a problem, but it does add to the charm of the place. The hosts are excellent at getting back to you with information and everything runs smoothly. We had a lovely stay.

    Carol2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Rose Villas. The Villa was well stocked with a welcome back and all the facilities and amenities you need for a pleasant stay. Really great that we could take the Dogs and they both loved sniffing around the tiered garden. We also had a toddler with us and the place is nice and child friendly with a bit of supervision required in the garden. Lorraine and Alex were great at coming back to us and sorting things out when we had to make some amendments to our booking. The location is also great for exploring the local area and villages in the Forest of Dean, it such a beautiful part of the world. The only downside was that we only stayed for 2 nights and should have stayed for longer.

    Ian2019-07-07T00:00:00Z

Nestled in the forest, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the South facing cabin fronts a footpath that leads out into the beautiful landscape. It is situated within our garden, with its own access so you are free to come and go as you please. It lends itself to quiet activities such as writing or similar. It is very peaceful and ideal for a quiet retreat from city life and an escape into nature. The main attraction is walking and/or mountain biking.
The cabin is compact with a kitchenette for food preparation. With fridge combi oven/microwave, gas hob and cooking pots, utensils etc. A shower room with basin toilet and shower cubicle. The rest of the space is open for the sleeping area and sitting area. There is a standard double bed. Two easy chairs. There is a fold-out table for dining and two stools. An efficient wood burning stove will keep you warm in winter.
  • John and Pam's place is lovely: a lovely view, and good walks. There is wild boar activity right outside, ravens and peregrines and owls all to be heard just steps from home. They are the most welcoming hosts you can imagine.

  • Fantastic place and well kitted out with everything you need. The best thing about the place is not the place! It's how close you are to get onto fantastic walks. We did Soudley Ponds, Mallards Pike, and The Speech House (13.7 miles for us and double that for the dog!!).

    David2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was more spacious than I imagined. A super kitchenette, clean bathroom, comfortable big bed and a wood burner to keep you nice and cosy. It's situated on a pathway leading straight into the forest, so convenient for walkers. Even the endless rain didn't dampen my warm peaceful stay. I stayed for two night, will be booking for a whole week in the summer.

    Grace2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely little place which gets nice and cost with the log fire. The location for walks is absolutely incredible. There are so many walking routes literally right outside the front door and the main Forest of Dean routes are just a 5min drive away.

  • We’ve just had a lovely night stay in David and Sue’s glamping pod. The pod was well equipped with everything you’d need and a few moments walk from the toilet facilities. David was very welcoming and walked us to our pod. It was a beautiful peaceful setting surrounded by various towns for things to do. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer and we’d definitely recommend staying here.

    Sami2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay, we had all the facilities we could want in a glamping pod and more, I highly recommend this Airbnb.

  • Would stay again!!!!

    Ben2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Requested to book the glamping pod as a last minute thought; 10 mins later, received confirmation and we were there a couple of hours later where we were met outside by Dave, Fred & Sue. All 3 were amazingly friendly and helpful which made us feel immediately comfortable and happy with our decision to book there. Fred took us to our pod which was more than sufficient for our one night stay (wanted to add another night but everything was fully booked). It was warm, clean, comfy and nicely decorated. Shower and toilet facilities were seconds away and were sparkling clean. The shop sold everything we needed, including chilled soft and alcoholic drinks. We ate dinner (a curry) and a full cooked breakfast there which were great and reasonably priced. The camping fields and surrounding areas were immaculately maintained. Would happily stay again and would recommend a stay there to anyone else. Thanks to all the staff (including the young girl serving up the food, friendly and chatty) Daz and Bev

A cozy 'shed' with twin beds and heating for chilly nights. Situated within the owners property, sited in the centre of the Forest of Dean a mere 100 yards from one of the best mountain biking and cycling centres in the UK. The 'bike shed' looks out over the forest and bike storage. Fantastic location for walking, biking, canoeing the River Wye and exploring this wonderful location. The private washroom is 20 yards from the 'shed' up and down some well lit steps in the owners property.
The bike shed is within the owners garden. The bike shed has twin beds, complimentary tea, coffee and water. Access to washroom is up and down some well lit steps. Access to washroom is up and down some well lit steps. There is bike storage and facilities to wash your bikes. The garden is used daily by the owners family and pets (dog, cat and two free range chickens). The property has direct access to the forest with a variety of walks. We are located almost opposite Cannop cycle centre (pedalabikeaway) and its fantastic mountain biking downhill trails- one of the best in the UK.
We live in a small quiet village with forest all around. There is direct access into the forest over a small brook. We have constantly changing views as the trees go through the year. The birds and wildlife bring a morning chorus and evening song,(often very loudly). Wild boar and deer often pass the gate. The Wye valley offers walks, canoeing, riding and peregine falcons. We also keep honey bees. The Forest of Dean has some fantastic attractions for everyone including Clearwell Caves, Hopewell colliery, Puzzlewood, Secret forest, Perrygrove, steamtrains and MaryRose pottery to name a few! Nearby is a butterfly farm and maze and River Wye boat trips.
  • Great little place to lay our heads after a hard days cycling. Will definitely be back.

Ruardean is a typical Forest of Dean village with a interesting history including Horlicks of the famed malted drink. It has a post office incorporating a village store, garage, farm shop/cafe (200m). The village pub 'The Malt Shovel Inn' dates back many centuries and is old fashioned in approach and friendly. Other local pubs are The Forge Hammer which is also home to its own micro brewery and also a curry restaurant and take away and The Royal Spring. The Forest is easily accessible and Puzzle Wood (Star Wars, Merlin etc) is about 15 mins away by car (Coleford). The cottage is an ideal hub for the Forest but remember Gloucester, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Monmouth or Hereford are all well within a short car trip... should the peace or all of the Forest's outside activities prove too much to bear. Our international guests often go further afield to visit Warick Castle (12th century) and Shakespeare country; Stratford upon Avon.

  • Tim’s cottage is just as described. It’s very clean and decorated wonderfully. The location is perfect for a quiet getaway among the countryside. The garden was lovely and the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a glass of wine after a day out walking. The beds were very comfortable and warm and the bathroom and kitchen had everything you needed. Tim was quick to respond to any messages throughout and was on hand for anything we needed. I highly recommend a stay here.

  • Such a clean and stylish cottage, it certainly has all the amenities you need for a getaway! Fantastic views and plenty of games for the family! I can’t describe how fabulous it was....just a perfect place! Can’t wait to hopefully go back soon.

    Karan2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a very relaxing time in the cottage. It was very clean, cosy and we felt very welcoming. We appreciate the Christmas decoration, our little baby loved the lights. :) Thank you! Definitely recommend.

    Elena2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Hmm lots to say for this one. The kitchen has everything. No hand washing the dishes! For someone who doesnt have a dishwasher.... Just awsome. The place was beautiful. Very easy check in, private and you can see the attention to detail that went into the renovation of the space. For walkers, if you just pop over the other side of the hill, there is miles of forest to go walking in. Suggest you do your shopping at the coop in cinderford as they sell wood there. Be careful with putting out the trash, or a canine thief will try to scatter it everywhere. Highly recommended.

A detached, clean & comfortable private escape for you to unwind & enjoy the views over an old perry pear orchard managed for wildlife. Neighbourhood of similar smallholdings & valley farmland with direct access to forest walks & perfect for stargazing. Friendly sheep & our pet alpacas Badger & Bracken may be grazing in the field nearby.

We live further along the track and are on hand to help but equally we’re respectful of your privacy allowing you to completely relax and unwind. Open-plan living area with a well equipped modern kitchen area. Patio doors plus full length windows to take advantage of the far reaching countryside views & for wildlife watching. The bedroom has a king-size bed, with a quality feather-effect duvet & pillows (suitable for vegans). There are thick curtains for a good nights sleep, though if left open, you may watch the sunrise over the valley directly from your bed. Modern en-suite shower room with plentiful hot water & good water pressure. SPRING Wake to the sound of birdsong & take short stroll from the cottage & you’re in beech woodlands carpeted with scented bluebells & natural babbling springs. SUMMER Open the patio doors in the living area to make the most of the gentle valley breeze and enjoy the views. Sit outside at night & stargaze. A badger will often pass by on its evening route (dependant on the time of year). A small herd of family owned friendly Jacob sheep (some have been hand reared) are usually in the field next to the cottage. They rotationally graze with other neighbours so we can’t always guarantee they’ll be there. Our inquisitive pet alpacas Badger & Bracken are usually around. Facilities:- - The bathroom is a modern shower room with a large corner shower with plentiful hot water & good water pressure (no bath). - TV with built in DVD player - Drawer full of board games, playing cards, DVDs etc. - Books, local maps and guides - Cafetiere (no coffee maker) - Microwave, double oven & grill, dishwasher, washer/dryer, freestanding fridge/freezer. - Blankets for outdoor use in the evenings should you wish to sit outside longer to watch the wildlife and stargaze (kept in the monks bench). - Cosy real wood burner, first basket of logs free of charge. A peaceful valley of scattered cottages, smallholdings and farmland outside the settlement boundary of Mitcheldean, in open countryside, on the woodland edge of the Forest of Dean. The area is rich in wildlife and the Gloucestershire Way and Wysis Way footpaths run opposite. St Antony’s Well can be found in beech woodlands with bluebells at the end of the lane. The large village of Mitcheldean is within a 20 minute walk where there is a Coop, convenience store, butchers, pharmacy, florist, library, takeaways, automated petrol station, car repair etc. The local brewery, Bespoke Brewery opens their brewery tap bar most weekends. Jolter Press, a local cider & perry maker has a bar that’s usually open on a Friday evening. Both are situated in The Mews, Mitcheldean.

  • This is a place not to be missed, we stayed during a few cold February days and enjoyed the cosiness not just of the logburner but the whole place. Really clean lovely shower room, comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen and cosy lounge area, with great views from every window. We want to return in summer to take advantage of that tempting bench which it was just too cold to sit out on when we got back from a day out, even with the blankets provided! Lucy was helpful with everything, and a great host.

    Wendy2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to relax. We loved everything about Perry Pear Cottage; especially the Alpacas and Flapjacks!! Lucy and Mark are wonderful hosts. The best place we have stayed. We will certainly be back again soon! :-)

  • The pictures here don’t do Perry Pear Cottage justice; it is a beautiful open plan space, with incredible views from each window you look from. It couldn’t be more private, calming and comfortable if you tried. Five big golden stars!

The place was warm, inviting, clean and there were plenty of things to do from board games, cards, reading and just going out n bout in the great Forest of Dean. Would definitely use again. Thank you Emma.

  • We stayed at Emma and David's cottage for 8 nights and it was absolutely brilliant. Fully equipped kitchen, large comfy bedroom, and a super cosy lounge with incredible views of the hills out the back door. So many thoughtful touches throughout the space including books and games, extra blankets, and even a welcome gift basket and fresh eggs - yumm! The location is close to many many walking trails, pubs, and shops in nearby towns and the cottage itself is off the main street, so expect really quiet nights. We HIGHLY recommend staying at Emma and David's cottage and wish we could have stayed longer!

    Katie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Simply stunning .... everything you could want and more. Would highly recommend this property!

    Cathy2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • A truly magical place, in a great location with exceptional hospitality. Everything you could wish for and many things you wouldn’t dream of is provided. We had a wonderful relaxing week, didn’t want to leave and hope to return soon. The photos do not do the place justice. The chapel is an absolute gem!

    Hannah2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from a wonderful couple of days at this beautifully restored chapel. Viccky was a great host from the moment we booked - quickly responding to our questions, to lighting the log burner before arrival to ensure a warm and cosy reception. Not to mention the homemade cake, glass of fizz and fridge full of breakfast goods that awaited us. Every little thing you could wish for Viccky had thought of - a 5 star stay in a beautiful location, thank you :)

    Georgina2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very relaxing and special couple of nights stay at The Zion Chapel. The photos can’t do justice to the space itself which is cozy, spacious and very well equipped. Our arrival and access was easy and trouble free, even though it was late evening and dark at the time. Indeed It may have been the perfect time to arrive at Zion Chapel as Vicky has already fired up the wood burner, turned on the pretty lights inside and left us a welcome gift of homemade cake and a bottle of Prosecco. It certainly helped us feel at home almost immediately. There was provisions in the fridge for a cooked breakfast, plenty of cereal, bread, milk as well as tea and coffee. The bed was very comfortable and we had a very peaceful night sleep. The rain shower was also lovely and hot. On the second day we left a chilli in the Aga to slow cook and set out to explore The Forest of Dean. We would highly recommend Zion Chapel to all our friends and family.

    Caroline2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely setting, fabulous little touches from the host. Made the effort to supply some home made Gluten Free shortbread which was incredible... It was a real pleasure to stay in such a tastefully refurbished property with everything we could possibly need from a wood burner to board games. Will be recommending to anybody who listens...

    Richard2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Totally 5 star all the way Beautiful place Very warm and cosy Lots of thoughtful added touches Fab comfy bed Dogs loved it , quick access to woods . Amazing host . Can’t do enough for you . Sparkling clean .

  • Fantastic hosts, Terry’s hospitality was excellent. The hosts gave us plenty of tips on cycling routes and things to see in the area. Lovely locations we cycled everywhere and didn’t need to move the car. Highlight were cycling the trails and taking in the country air, we even got to see some wild boar while out biking.

    Andrew2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at The Halt, and this was without doubt one of the most comfortable and cosy Airbnb’s we have ever stayed in! Terry was a great host and gave us some useful tips for exploring the local area. We have never visited this area of the UK before but would recommend it to anyone and would love to come back. If we do then we will definitely stay with Terry and Maxine again! Book and you won’t be disappointed! A great find!

  • A lovely place to stay! A relaxing, peaceful studio to spend time in. Very clean, spacious and welcoming. Had everything we needed for a week away - we were able to cook simple meals in the little kitchen. Fantastic views while eating breakfast. A little tricky to find but Clare's detailed instructions were spot on. Clare's communication was great and we received a lovely, friendly welcome when we arrived. A great base for exploring The Forest of Dean area; so many places nearby to visit etc. We visited during the dreadful floods of Storm Dennis but were still able to go out and about easily enough with a little extra planning and advice from Clare on local road closures.

    Andy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Host gave clear helpful instructions for how to find the location. Lovely quiet getaway, reasonably priced.

    Chris2020-01-04T00:00:00Z

  • The studio is in an wonderful setting, right in the heart of the forest. So many amazing walks, and stunning places to visit. Tintern Abbey, Clearwell Mines and castles galore. Claire is a great source of local info and tips for what to do and see, and great places to eat. The studio is quiet and private, great base to travel from for day trips.

    Debbie2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is a lovely space in which to spend time relaxing. It has everything we needed and we had a great stay. Everything is just as it is described in the information. It is well located to get to many of the beautiful places in the Forest of Dean.

Very beautiful surrounding area, not far away from local shops and places to grab food. Absolutely spotless facilities. We will definitely be looking into coming back again soon, thankyou for a wonderful stay - Danni

  • David accommodated us at very short notice which was brilliant and the hut was clean, cosy, modern and well-equipped for a night (or a few!) in the wye valley. Keeps warm well and very comfy, would be a great base year-round even in the winter. The on-site cafe is handy but isn’t open every day so check the timings if you need supplies, but the village nearby does have a coop.

  • Lilac lodge is absolutely beautiful. Spotlessly clean too and very well equipped. The information Laura sent out before arrival was great and check in was faultless. We could relax and enjoy our weekend straight away. Plenty of information for things to do and lots of board games to play. We would love to come back and stay again, hopefully when the weather is better and we can enjoy the outside space too. The views are amazing!

Situated in the beautiful Forest of Dean, on the edge of the Wye Valley and just a couple of miles from the Welsh border, our town house provides a great base for exploring this lush, wooded region. Located in the historic market town of Coleford, it's also conveniently placed for shops, pubs and eateries. Our family lives in the main part of the house, but the loft room is tucked away from our living spaces so you will have plenty of privacy.
The spacious attic room is a quiet haven with a super comfy bed and green and pleasant views of the surrounding gardens. It is at the top of the house, so you do need to climb up a few flights of stairs. The airy bathroom on the floor below your bedroom will be all yours (we have a separate one downstairs). Young families welcome - we can provide a floor mattress for a little one. Please note: the extra bed is really only suitable for children. Please let us know if you plan to bring a child. Free on-street parking. Please read our house rules before booking.
Coleford is a historic small town with little shops to browse, bakeries, pubs, chip shops, cafes and a supermarket. The place comes alive at the annual music festival in July (it can be noisy!). It's a stone's throw from Symonds Yat, Offa's Dyke Path, Beechenhurst, Speech House, Clearwell Caves and Puzzlewood. Tintern and Monmouth are about 20mins, Chepstow, Abergavenny and Ross-on-Wye 25mins.

  • Sharon is a great host. My boyfriend and I stayed one night to Sharon's place and she made us feel at home. The communication prior to check-in was fast and clear, her place is lovely and she took the time to chat and explain where to start our biking session. We really enjoyed the coffee, tea and breakfast in the morning! We highly recommend! Thank you again, Sharon!

    Andreea2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon is a super-fabulous host!! Her place is wonderfully eclectic and warm; she even left us roses since it was our honeymoon. ♡ Sharon communicates very well and everything is better than expected. We had plenty of tea and breakfast (and she offers much more - just like it's our own home!!). The area is great, and she has so many suggestions within walking distance for places to eat, drink, visit, hike/walk/run and nearby attractions (Clearwell Caves was amazing!!). Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to spend, but we'd LOVE to return and stay again!! If you want a cozy place at a reasonable rate, you must stay at Sharon's!! :)
