Places to stay in Clark Fork
Country landscape with wooded surroundings Two small private lakes Nearby hiking Nearby biking Nearby camping 5 miles from Lake Ponderay Fishing and boating at Lake Ponderay Skiing at Schweitzer Resort Deck with view of one of the small lakes 7 miles from Ponderay/Sandpoint
You will need transportation into the property site. The road to the property is a gravel road that can require a 4-Wheel Drive during the snowy winter season and the mud season (early spring rains).
We are definitely in the country. The home is approximately 2 miles in from the county road. There is a very nice home site adjacent to our site that hosts a private 9 hole golf course in the local hills. In the spring (mud season) and winter (snow season), please be sure and check with us in advance of reserving a room to make sure that the road is passable. .
  • Thanks for the great stay. It was beautiful, quiet, clean and had everything I wanted or needed. The road is a bit bumpy so be prepared, but just drive slow and you'll be rewarded with a beautiful view and nice quiet place to stay.

  • I would highly recommend staying here, Mike is a very friendly and helpful host. The room is larger and quiet, very comfortable bed and restful! Sitting outside on the deck in the evening is a perfect ending to the day (especially with a cup of coffee)!!

  • Grace & Tim & Mike are wonderful with a fantastic little getaway house in Idaho woods. Very cool, and great people.

  • This place was awesome! The hosts are so sweet and have such a great heart! My husband and I loved it

  • This beautiful home is next to a little lake and about 20 minutes from Sandpoint, ID. It's a little bit out in the woods, which makes it great - it's nice to escape the city. I rode there on a motorcycle, and the only note I'd put out for next travellers is that you've got about 2.5 miles of gravel road to travel into the property. It wasn't bad, just slow going on the bike :)

This Unassuming Backyard Restaurant In Idaho Is Actually A Culinary Gem Shhh, we’ve got a secret for you. Idaho is one of the most underrated foodie destinations in the world. It’s true. Our state may not be known for world-class dining options, but believe us…they’re here! You just have to go out and find them. Sometimes you accidentally stumble upon a culinary gem without even trying. That’s what most people experience when they dine at this charming backyard restaurant. This place may not look like a five-star restaurant. Heck, it doesn’t even look like a restaurant at all. However, you’re about to find out that there is much more this place than how it appears. Nestled at the very top of state's panhandle is the utterly beautiful town of Clark Fork. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and with a population of just 500 people, Clark Fork is like a little slice of heaven in north Idaho. City of Clark Fork/Facebook The town is situated upon the banks of the majestic Clark Fork River. The natural beauty is this small town's pride and joy, and it's been well-known among Idahoans as an ideal recreation destination. It's certainly not known for their culinary scene. However, it should be. jar/Flickr Travelers passing through Clark Fork often find themselves driving down 4th street which is the main road in town. They may spot the bright red house on the side of the road that boasts signs saying "beer garden" and "Open for dinner" and decide to stop for a quick bite to eat. googleMaps The Squeeze Inn doesn't look like much. Situated in what seems to be a small house, it barely even looks like a restaurant. However, you're about to find that this place is a true culinary treasure hiding in a small mountain town. artdirect_11/TripAdvisor Inside, the environment is cozy and inviting. They say the restaurant received its name because guests have to quite literally "squeeze in" once inside! On a weekend, the dining room is filled with the sounds of live music and smell of delicious food in the air. Squeeze Inn/Facebook Most patrons are surprised when they receive the dinner menu. Duck breast? Calamari steak? Homemade ravioli? This definitely isn't your run-of-the-mill small town food. It's obvious the restaurant's owner has a passion for bringing good food to Clark Fork. artdirect_11/TripAdvisor The patio area is perfectly quirky and charming. The vibe of this place is certainly unique! However, there's really no place you'd rather be on a warm summer evening. parrotheadnica/TripAdvisor As is true of many small town restaurants, Squeeze Inn definitely has some eccentricities. However, the food speaks for itself and rivals the experience you would have at any "city restaurant". The next time you're in Clark Fork, be sure to stop by.
  • Janet is a fantastic host and made us feel so incredibly welcome. We came over to visit family and had and absolutely fantastic two weeks staying at Janet’s - Thank you.

    Lucy2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Janet communicated with us very well before we left our home but the cell service in Clark Fork is not very good. Janet made sure we knew how to reach her when we arrived in town and she was very helpful once we got there. The apartment was in a quite location of the very small town. The apartment, appliances and furnishings were older but was clean and comfortable. There was all the utensils there to cook with but we did not do any cooking. The bed was a queen size and the mattress was on the firm side but we still got a good nights sleep. If you are looking for a small and cozy place then I would definitely recommend this place.

    Terry2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly host. Responded quickly to all emails.

  • Cozy space to say in a beautiful area, and Janet was an amazing host. We had a fantastic time!

  • I had a great experience staying here. This was the perfect hub for exploring the area and Janet was a great host.

Great cabin decor, very clean and relaxing.
Great quite area just a few minutes away from hiking, hunting and fishing on forest service land. Clark Fork river and Lake Pend Oreille access is within 10 minutes. 20 minute drive to some great restaurants in Hope. Great place to relax.
  • Cute little cabin!

  • Kevin’s log cabin was a perfect getaway! Just what we were looking for. Truly enjoyed our stay in the woods.

    Coral2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little cabin tucked away in a beautiful forest; far enough away from things to get disconnected, but close enough to head into town for any needs. House itself was beautiful. As others have mentioned, there were some missing kitchen supplies, but a minor inconvenience at such a beautiful place. We hope to visit again!

    Rick2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to relax and enjoy a beautiful cabin. Will be coming again :) Highly recommend!

    Priscilla2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning cabin retreat and a great value! Wish our stay had been longer. Confirm kitchen basics with host if you plan on doing much cooking and supplement accordingly.

    Heather2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • House was very clean

    Kristina2019-08-25T00:00:00Z

    Kelsey2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin's cabin was a delightful and peaceful respite in the midst of our cross country journey. The cabin is as spacious as it is cozy and the tasteful decor made us instantly feel relaxed and at home. I would recommend Kevin's place to anyone who is looking for a peaceful getaway in the woods.

  • This was an amazing Airbnb and blew us out of the water! It was a very cute space at an amazing price! Definitely a great spot to stay if you’re in the area and very close to Schweitzer

    Zach2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is such an amazing place to stay with beautiful artwork on all the walls and stylish touches throughout. Lori was a fantastic host with quick and friendly communication throughout. My only regret is that my schedule didn’t allow for me to stay longer. I will definitely be coming back.

    John2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cute and cozy Airbnb with a great price and location! We stayed here while we skied at Schweitzer and Silver Mountain. The Airbnb is less than 10 mins from the access road to Schweitzer and only about a 10 min drive from downtown Sandpoint (I recommend Pend D'Oreille winery - we went to trivia there one night after skiing and it is a great place to eat and relax). Hoot Owl Cafe is a good local breakfast stop near the Airbnb but Lori also provides a toaster, microwave and a french press, which was nice when we wanted a quick, cheap breakfast before skiing. The Airbnb had thoughtful touches, like the flowers and the fireplace, and as other reviewers have said, Lori's beautiful art makes this a really special place to stay. The one day we got back from skiing early and musicians were playing guitar in the studio upstairs. Felt like a great way to unwind after skiing, listening to live music! The studio closes at 6:30 PM so there's no need to worry about the music being disruptive. Lori herself was very responsive and kind. I didn't speak with her personally, but my dad met her and enjoying talking about his art as he is also an oil painter. Thanks again for a great stay!

  • Great place - exactly the small cozy stay I was hoping for.

    Kaitlyn2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was cute and unique, clean and well put together. Would definitely recommend!

    Jordan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved our stay at Lori's place. I was travelling there with my teenage son, she set up a single bed in an out of the way spot in the main room which worked out great to have my own sleeping space in bedroom. The location was awesome. We were going to Schweitzer, and other than staying on the mountain, this is probably as close as you can be, right near the mountain cut off road. We heard beautiful jam band bluesy, groovy kinda music when we'd arrive in afternoons coming from the music studio next door. It was like a free concert, and happened to be the sort of music I would be playing myself if I had a band and could play that well. They ended at 630 pm promptly in case it wasn't somebody's cup of tea. The space itself was really special. It's an artist studio that doubles as a vacation rental. Lori did all the artwork herself and is very talented. I especially loved the big painting of the ship in the wild sea in the bedroom. The portraits of historical intellectuals and their words of wisdom quotes were cool too. All the art gives this place warmth and depth that some soul-less hotel box of a room could never have, and for a fraction of the price. The electric fireplace was a nice touch and the washer/dryer was a huge bonus for a snowboarding roadtrip. Will be back for sure if ever out that way again.

This is truly a Gem! With such relaxing creek sounds, and the unique, charming woodwork and rustic finishing touches inside and out. There is a short, easy trail to the creek, an alpine lake less than an hours hike away. The Clark Fork River Delta is just down the road, and Lake Pend Oreille is less than 8 miles away. The property is backed up to Kaniksu National Forest and the proposed Scotchman Peaks Wilderness area. Glacier National Park is a 3 1/2 hour drive East. Love Nature? This is it.
Situated in the mountains of North Idaho a short drive from Sandpoint, Lake Pend Orielle, and the recreation areas of Hope, Cabinet Mountians, and the proposed Scotchman Peaks Wilderness. Our one bedroom log cabin is rustic, but clean, warm and comfortable. No big screen tv and cell phone reception is sketchy, but there is wireless internet, a fully equipped kitchen, central heat and nature just outside the door. You will have the house to yourself but I will most likely be nearby on the property. Winter visitors can expect quiet seclusion. The house is centrally heated and it is warm and cozy, (no fireplace). The road is plowed by the county, but 4 wheel drive is advised. Snowmobilers will find access to forest service land outside the door, and groomed trails up Trestle Creek (10 miles away) and across the Clark Fork River 3 miles away. Snowshoeing and Cross Country skiing just outside the door. The resort town of Sandpoint is 25 miles away and Ski Resort Schweitzer Mountain is 8 miles from there.

  • The house is a beautiful handcrafted home with even more beautiful surroundings, a trail and creek, and even a rope swing and a zip line! The fresh eggs were delicious and the property is very welcoming. The perfect getaway spot.

  • Great place to stay, especially since we were hiking Schotcman’s peak, it was only a few miles from the trailhead.

  • Awesome cabin in the woods!!

    Jason2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ken’s cabin was a great little get away from the hustle and bustle of our normal lives. The cabin had sweet little touches that made you feel at home. I would 10/10 recommend staying here!

    Ashley2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Place was great, both my wife and I enjoyed Kens cabin. His hospitality was amazing, goes above and beyond. We felt really bad for leaving our dogs unintended in his cabin while we went out for dinner. There was no house rules against it, we should have checked with Ken. Luckily Ken was understanding and our dogs behaved well. The area and trails right by the cabin were amazing and Ken does a fantastic job of upkeeping them. We are excited to one day come back to the cabin.

One cozy bedroom in the front of the house with a double bed, chair, bureau and desk, next to shared bathroom. Large windows which let in a lot of sunshine and fresh air if you wish. Our Internet and cell connection is great! Your door has its own lock to secure your things when you are out. Best for one person, although in some cases we can accommodate a second. For two visitors please contact us to discuss your needs.
There is a family feel overall to this space, but we are quiet people and once inside your private room it is well contained and very private. No light and noise pollution and nothing but wilderness beyond us for acres, will make your stay peaceful and your sleep restful. We can accommodate a third person ( a pre teen, teenager or young adult), on a cot in your room.
We are in North Sandpoint, Sandpoint proper and Hope ID (in the other direction) are only 12 minutes away. Are property sits above Selle Valley with spectacular views of Schweitzer Mountain and ski resort. We are on 22 acres of secluded, forest and have many amenities to make your stay with us notable in its own right, including a large wrap around porch furnished for a relaxing chat and nature watching, a hot tub, built in outdoor grille, beautiful natural gardens and hiking trails. There are no end to the things to enjoy near us. In the valley just below us there are some interesting places to visit and many activities available. In the winter we are an easy 12 minute drive to the Schweitzer Ski resort base where there is plenty of free parking and a free shuttle to the lifts. The North has its own flavor of retired professors, farmers, survivalists, artists, musicians and home grown mountain folk. The Pack River Store is the hub of our community and is where to go close by for amazing food and local color. This remarkable neighborhood, general store serves up delicious food for large appetites created by a locally raised Cordon Bleu Chef along with basic groceries, beer, wine, snacks and wrigglers for fishing. Hope and Clark Fork are near by for Historic sites, waterfront activities, trails and good eats! Ice House Artesian Pizza is a must with delicious Italian food and an absolutely spectacular view of Lake Pend Orielle. Note: Our road and driveway as well as other access roads in this area are happier with AWD. During the Winter months and early Spring this is a must. In the throes of Winter you may wish to carry chains in your trunk.

This is truly a hidden gem on the BULL RIVER, in Noxon MT. Nestled in the surrounding mountains, the cabin overlooks 1500' of river frontage. You can stay in, enjoying the surrounding beauty, or travel just a few miles and be at Ross Creek Cedars, Bull Lake, Spar Lake and several hiking trails in the Cabinet Peaks Wilderness. This is truly a hidden gem on the BULL RIVER, in Noxon MT. This cabin overlooks 1500' of river frontage. We provide kayaks and paddleboards for use on the river in the summer, and snowshoes for hiking in the winter. We are 10 minutes from the Halfway House Bar & Grill. The river is a fly fisher's dream. The wood stove is the main source of heat, but we provide space heaters as well. Our home is located on the property and shares a driveway with the cabin. We are probably about 50 yards apart. There area mountain views from every window in the cabin. The landscape near the cabin is still in process, but the natural landscape has its own beauty. Outdoor enthusiasts of all types will enjoy this as a basecamp of sorts. You can ski or snowboard at Schweitzer, raft the Kootenai River, float or fish the Bull River, ride atvs, ride snowmachines, hike the many trails and mountain lakes nearby. Hunters and fisherman alike would be in heaven in this location. We have seen moose, bear, deer, turkey, big horn sheep, elk, eagles and many other little critters on the property. Cozy camping cabin in western rustic style that sleeps up to 6, just minutes from the resort town of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Lake Pend Oreille, on 10 private, wooded acres with views of the Selkirk Mountains, outdoor hot tub and shower, and fire pit.
The location 9 miles from downtown Sandpoint is super private and quiet. The cabin is truly a work of art with blued pine, corrugated rusty metal ceiling, and many rustic touches and special details. The cabin measures 14x14 with a 14x12 covered porch, plus an 80-square-foot loft. This is modeled after camping cabins in state parks but way cooler and with comfortable beds and bedding provided. It is a dry cabin with no running water. It really is camping, or glamping as it's called. A two-burner hot plate, microwave, toaster over, small fridge with freezer, coffee maker and electric tea kettle make it possible to make meals on-site. Some guests even cook over the campfire. Water is on-site with two frost-free hydrants near the cabin. We're talking tasty well water here! There's a rustic hand built outhouse and a beautiful outdoor hot tub under the stars that seats five with a lounge. A unique outdoor shower is the newest addition to the property, along with an outdoor sink (seasonal use). Inside the vintage pine trunk are games, local guidebooks, tourism publications and extra blankets. In the crate under the counter are plastic food wrap and wax paper, matches, hand sanitizer, hand soap, dish soap, a few hand towels and wash cloths, a hot pad, an assortment of condiments, salt and pepper, creamer and sugar. A trivet and basin are hanging on the walls above the counter, and another basin is in the crate below the microwave. Please use the trivet to set hot pots and pans on, and the basins for washing up dishes or taking camp baths. A 2-gallon water container is provided for your use. Please don't leave it on the counter wet as it stains the wood. The property includes a house and an RV site that allows for the possibility of group retreats. The house is a vacation rental from November through April, and we live in it from May through October. You may see other guests on the property and may have to alternate usage of the hot tub, or you may have the whole place to yourselves. Weekends, summers and holidays are busy. The cabin and RV site share the same driveway and are visible but filtered through trees and fence panels. The house is not visible from the cabin and has its own driveway. The RV site is available April through October, and while it may be sporadic, the site stays fairly busy in the summer season. Part of our mission is to give people an affordable way to visit Sandpoint. We have accommodations for horses and dogs too for an extra fee.
The Selle Valley is a very desirable neighborhood north of Sandpoint. The cabin sits in the heart of the valley where the land is zoned agricultural. When people come to my property, they love the rural setting surrounded by hay fields and views of two mountain ranges, the peace and quiet, and the beauty of the woods. No neighbors are within view; the closest neighbors are 800 feet away. The RV site is on the other side of the outdoor shower and faces east in the opposite direction; it shares the same driveway as the cabin. The host's house is about 250 feet away from the cabin and is not within sight. The cabin has its own driveway and faces west looking out to the yard, barn, woods and a large hayfield.

Fishing, hiking, biking, boating, wildlife viewing and birdwatching. Private path to the water’s edge. Kitchenette, landscaped garden, slate patio with firepit. Pet friendly. Free wi-fi.
  • The last resort is the most magical get away. The pictures can’t capture the beauty that is all around. Cathy has taken care of every detail 😀

    Beth2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place! The Last Resort is clean and well appointed. Cathy is a gracious host who is full of great tips about things to see and do while you are in the area. Our weekend there (end of September) just happened to be the first snow of the season, so it was a little too cold to play in the water! We plan to return next summer when we can enjoy paddle boarding and kayaking in the beautiful Clark Fork River. Thank you Cathy!

    Pamela2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This property is just amazing!! So beautiful and relaxing. Perfect get-a-way for two.

    Kelly2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy's cabin is in a great and peaceful location. The river is beautiful and it was a joy just to sit outside and watch nature. Easy access for our kayak launch too. Cathy was a friendly host that went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.

    Alex2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for sharing your little slice of Heaven with us. We loved sitting by the outside fire watching the fish jump and looking up at the stars.

    Aaron2019-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • We wish we could have booked this place for an extra night! The location is incredible! You’re right along the river, there’s a perfect place along the lake to make a fire and relax, or you can enjoy the view from the kitchen, living room, and the bed. I couldn’t stop staring at how beautiful it was. The bed was super comfy, the heater worked great and kept us warm. Cathy was a wonderful host and made sure we were happy. She greeted us right when we got there and we had a great time talking to her. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others.

    Nicki2019-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views and very peaceful! The perfect place to stop the outside world and "recharge the batteries". The cabin is cozy, clean and comfortable and Cathy is a wonderful host- available should you need anything yet respects your privacy and allows you to be "one with the beauty that surrounds you." Looking forward to many more visits in her little piece of Heaven. Thank you Cathy!😊

This is a large upstairs studio with a fabulous view. Many windows. Full kitchen, washer, and a dishwasher.
This is in a small town walking distance to dinner house (Squeeze Inn). Local deli and a bar.

The tipi on Lake Pend Oreille at Hawkins Point is a dream come true for glamping lake lovers! It's situated on a private beach with a privacy fence that's part of 800 feet of shoreline facing south over Idaho's largest lake, just minutes from Sandpoint. The tipi includes access to the beach and dock, a fire pit and campwood, outdoor shower and sink, and other amenities, plus access to an outdoor hot tub and 30-plus private acres.
Imagine a private beach on Idaho's largest lake with spectacular views of water, islands and mountains, where you can sleep in a tipi next to the water and watch the day unfold. Have access to all the amenities of a family-owned beach: a dock, fire pit, barbecue grill, horseshoe pit, concrete boat ramp, a table that converts to two benches, beach shelter, hammock and more. We even supply wood for the fire pit and drinking water from the well! Hawkins Point is the farthest point on the Sunnyside Peninsula, named for the fact that it faces south; it's a gateway to the northern end of the lake and the Pack River Delta. The tipi is equipped with cots and fold-up, roll-away beds, electric lamp/table, and even an electric heater in the colder parts of the season, to give guests a wonderful experience camping on the lake with style. Tipis are magical spaces that allow you to sleep under the stars and imagine living in simpler times. The tipi is erected around a round wooden floor. A double hammock, handmade in Mexico, is hung in the shade for guests to enjoy some lazy time lounging near the water on the east side of the boathouse. And maybe best of all, a fabulous outdoor hot tub is available for soaking under the stars overlooking the lake! The hot tub is found behind the home across the road and is only a two-minute walk from the beach. Down at the beach, guests are provided with a small fridge, a clean, well-kept porta-potty, and outdoor shower and sink with an on-demand propane water heater. The large wooden fence blocks off the beach from Sunnyside Road, adding to the privacy of this special spot. The lake is at your doorstep in this special spot on Lake Pend Oreille! The tipi accommodates up to four guests. We cannot accommodate large, multi-family groups on the beach. For larger groups, consider renting the house and/or RV site. Extra vehicles may be parked off the road outside the gate or at the host's property. The beach may also be accessed by other guests and family members. Please be welcoming and friendly! In reality, most tipi guests have the beach to themselves as other guests gravitate to the beach at the west end of the property. The tipi is by definition: "a tent of the American Indians, made usually from animal skins laid on a conical frame of long poles and having an opening at the top for ventilation and a flap door." Our tipi has a liner and ozan to help protect guests from the weather, but it still has an opening at the top around the poles despite closing the smoke flaps. The tipi is by nature not weatherproof or waterproof, and we are not responsible for inclement weather!
Sunnyside is a rural neighborhood on the north shore of Lake Pend Oreille, where there's a mix of farmland and family homes. This is a popular recreation area with Sunnyside Access, Hawkins Point Boat Launch and Oden Wildlife Management Area. Many families have been here for decades, including the family that owns the property at Hawkins Point. People come here to fish, swim, ride bicycles, paddle, go boating and more.

  • Enjoyed our stay in the Tipi. Great location and we had the beach all to ourselves during our stay (9/16-9/17) Super comfortable cushions on top of the cots and the sounds of the lake made for great nights rest. Bille Jean was full of suggestions for hikes and food as well. Lots to do and explore in this beautiful area. A memorable part of our vacation for sure!

  • This is a wonderful rustic experience, camping on the water without having to set up your own tent or haul in camping gear. Beautiful scenery with mountain sunsets and unbeatable stars. Loved the privacy. Wood floor in the tipi. A small portable gas grill, a small refrigerator, and a wood burning fire pit for the cool evenings. Lake fishing, swimming, and boating access right there.

  • As in past summers, my tipi/lakeshore time was very relaxing and enjoyable. The swimming was great and my water dogs had fun, which made more fun for me. All was ready & clean, and mattresses very comfy. The addition of a well-water spigot was an added convenience & the grass sod was a nice addition too.

  • Billie is amazing! Made sure we could find the place ok, everything was beautifully clean, tons of extras provided. We enjoyed the hot tub overlooking the water, swimming off the dock and the most epic fire on the lake! We will be back.

    Vickie2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • My two sons (13 and 11) so enjoyed our stay at Billie's tipi! It's truly right on the waterfront, and it was wonderful to hear the water lapping on the shore when inside. Rain was in the forecast, and Billie thankfully closed up the top flaps and set up the ozan inside for us. We did in fact experience a thunderstorm our first night -- with lots of lightning, thunder, rain and wind gusts to 60 mph -- and while we moved to our car for the worst of it, we realized later we would have been just fine in the tipi. A small amount of rain water made it inside overnight (it's a tipi, right?), but because we followed Billie's instruction to push the cots to the back of the tipi if it rained, we and our bedding never got wet. As for the set up of along the beach, initially it seemed a bit tight from the fence to the waterfront, but once we settled in, it was really perfectly cozy. The "tight" fit actually made everything easily accessible, which was great. We got some better weather in the ensuing days and my boys enjoyed swimming off the dock and we all went kayaking (brought our own), too. We so look forward to coming back, hopefully for longer next time. A really wonderful place you should consider for your time away.

Decorated in a Western rustic theme, this 3-bedroom, 2-bath home with an outdoor hot tub is located in the beautiful Selle Valley north of Sandpoint, Idaho. Cozy, comfortable and secluded, yet close to town, the lake and Schweitzer.
The house's location is super private and quiet on 10 treed acres with views of the mountains, yet is only 15 minutes from downtown Sandpoint. The house is a well-apportioned, 1,360-square-foot space that sleeps up to 6 with a queen bed in the master bedroom, a full size bed in the second bedroom and a full size sleeper sofa in the third bedroom, which also serves as the TV/family room. The queen mattress is a firm all-foam mattress with an optional topper, and the full-size mattress is medium firm all-foam mattress -- both very comfortable! The main bathroom includes a unique neo-angle shower stall constructed of slate and metal and doubles as the laundry room. The master bedroom features a beautiful, deep, 5-foot-long cast iron tub minted in 1923. The flooring is a mix of bamboo, acid-stained concrete, slate and carpeting. The home features modern, custom-built and vintage furniture, specialty tile and rock work, and artisan touches throughout. The house was recently redecorated in a Western rustic theme and includes luxurious furnishings, lots of beautiful artwork and custom paint jobs. The fully stocked kitchen features concrete counter tops and a fabulous, genuine copper penny backsplash, with seating for three around the island and six at the trestle table. A TV lover I am not, so I don't have satellite service, but I do have a TV on a wall mount in the family room, plus lots of DVDs and VHS movies for guests to enjoy. If you must watch the latest news or sports game, this may not be the place for you; however, there is wireless Internet (Frontier broadband DSL, high-speed unlimited use) and the closest sports bar and grill is only seven miles away. The house includes lots of games, plus a large vinyl and CD collection, so families can enjoy spending quality time together. The house is heated primarily by the wood stove, but it also has electric heat in every room. Nothing feels better than wood heat! The Blaze King stove is a new model with a glass door so guests can watch the fire. Mesmerizing and relaxing! While the house is lovely, the best part may be the outdoor hot tub under the stars! The hot tub is only about 50 steps away from the house and is not visible from the house, nor the camping cabin. Guests enjoy the outdoor spaces, too, from a covered porch and stamped concrete deck to a paver patio that includes handmade benches made with pickup tailgates and a beautiful chiminea for relaxing by an outdoor fire. Campwood is provided. A walking trail takes guests over two bridges and through the woods. Horseshoe pits are in the yard across from the outdoor hot tub. The property includes an RV site and camping cabin, accessed by a separate driveway, that would allow the possibility of group retreats. You may see other guests from time to time, but the cabin and house are not within sight of each other. The camping cabin is open year-round, whereas the RV site is available April through October.
The Selle Valley is a very desirable neighborhood north of Sandpoint. The house sits in the heart of the valley where the land is zoned agricultural. When people come to my property, they love the rural setting surrounded by hay fields and views of two mountain ranges, the peace and quiet, and the beauty of the woods. No neighbors are within view; the closest neighbors are 600 feet away. The RV site and camping cabin are about 250 feet away from the house and not within sight. The house and RV site/cabin have their own driveways and that adds to the privacy.
  • Perfect place for quiet weekend away! Beautiful surroundings yet close enough to local attractions.

    Elizabeth2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The house and property are wonderful if you like rural and quiet. The house has everything that you need. The kitchen is very well-stocked and the furnishings and decor are beautiful. A very comfortable place to be.

  • Great location. Quiet and felt like home. We really enjoyed the hot tub.

    Tanya2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the stay, amazingly rustic yet very comfortable. The hot tub and the clear sky made the nights fantastic. There was plenty of space to unwind and relax. We were also amused by the morning wakeup alarm, the local rooster!! I would highly recommend this place if you like being out town, but not far from it all!

    Scott2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful place... sparkling clean, decorated beautifully inside with fabulous views outside! Friendly host and great price. Highly recommend!

  • Some friends from Hawai'i and I spent a few days riding at Schweitzer and stayed at Twin Cedars. Billie Jean has done a charming job with all the furnishings and amenities. Teh Blaze King kept us cozy warm as did the comfortable furniture. Lots of kitchen goodies and a beautiful place. Oh, and Dinky, the rooster. Fun to watch and talk to!

    Nancy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second trip up to Billie's cabin in Sandpoint...the location is fairly remote and peaceful, yet is only 10 minutes from town. The house is very modern, spotless inside and out, well appointed inside and has a warm, homey, 'country' vibe throughout. Great kitchen, lovely living room and wood stove to get cozy with...and don't forget the hot tub under the stars! At night you can sometimes watch the snow grooming machines go back and forth up in the sky at Schweitzer mtn...and in the day you can see skiers (with binoculars) cruising down the back side of Schweitzer too. Just a lovely, remote, peaceful place...and Billie and Mike are great hosts. They are responsive, set you up with everything you need, and then leave you be. Perfect!

    Greg2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Billie Jean is great, very hospitable. Western house is clean, cozy, and a great space to unwind after a day of skiing. Hot tub was an added bonus.

Hi Friends! We would love for you to come join us at our spacious property here in Big Sky Country. This is rustic country living on the Clark Fork River.
  • We were so happy with the pleasant, quiet, clean accommodations near Heron Montana. It has 3 nice bedrooms and two full baths upstairs as well as a 1/2 bath downstairs and an office type room with a futon for extra sleeping space. They were so kind to show us around upon arrival even though it was late. The new washer and dryer were great and the kitchen was stocked very nicely. The view out the front was beautiful across the river. We will be back!

  • Nicolette was incredibly accomodating and she and Russell really made us feel welcomed and comfortable! The home is beautiful - both inside and out! You really get the Montana experience on their beautiful home in Heron. Nicolette even provided delicious breakfasts each morning and made baked goods for us! Their list of options for hiking was more than enough to satiate our hunger for some wilderness adventure, and we slept so well each night. I highly recommend you stay with Nicolette in Heron if you are looking for a place to stay to enjoy your time in Montana!

    Hailey2018-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nicholette and her husband are kind and gracious. They are a pleasure to talk to and she is a wonderful cook. The house is beautiful and clean and comfortable. They definitely exceeded my expectations

  • What a delightful home and atmosphere! Russel and Nicolette pay attention to every detail and provided us with over the top hospitality. Nicolette is an amazing cook — don’t miss the chance to enjoy her baked goods! The room is comfortable, clean, and well appointed. They are amazing hosts and are a delightful to talk to. This is more than just a place to stop over for a night...it’s a memorable experience and was the high point of our trip. Simply wonderful.

    Jane2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nicolette’s place was a little slice of heaven. We loved our stay and only wish we could have stayed more than one night. Our communication from Nicolette was prompt, clear and welcoming. Our room was clean and simple, but fully equipped. There were fresh cookies to welcome us. The space was peaceful. Our favourite part was the amazing wrap around deck with table and chairs to eat our dinner, as well as a hammock and porch swing. Breakfast was delicious and made to order, even with our dietary restrictions. We are grateful and hope to be back.

    Steven2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Nicolette's place during our trip to Montana and Idaho. We loved it. It's a spacious house; our room was comfortable, we had access to everything we needed. The view in every direction was amazing. It was also very quiet. We had breakfast in the morning, which was very good. Nicolette also shared helpful tips about what to do in the area (hiking, and places to eat in the nearby town). It was a great trip for us. We would definitely recommend Nicolette as a great host.

    Sergiu2018-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • For anyone wanting to experience the peace and beauty that western Montana has to offer this place is a must. We got to celebrate our anniversary here and Nicolette made us feel very at home. The views from their sliver of paradise were awesome and we spent a lot of time on their covered deck just taking it all in. For breakfast we had incredible meals that accommodated for my lactose free diet. The stay was very comfortable and Nicollette went out of her way to print out some neat hiking options in the area that we were able to enjoy. We're definitely looking forward to the next time we get to stay here on our travels down Highway 200!

  • Nice folks. I enjoyed my stay and made some good friends. It’s a beautiful place.

  • What a beautiful, quiet retreat! As long as you are confident you can make it up the dirt road, we highly recommend basing your Idaho adventures here. Everything from a warm greeting upon arrival, clean and private bathroom, to a huge kitchen and even allowing us most of the fridge and freezer space! We loved it here we even extended our stay!

  • This home was the perfect after long days of exploring the area. I liked that the location is in a foresty area. Very charming! Grace and Timothy were the perfect hosts. Great conversationalists and so willing to help. The room and home itself were extremely comfortable and provided everything I needed. I'd love to stay here again when I return to Sandpoint.

  • This beautiful home, remotely (guests should be comfortable driving on a gravel road) situated in the quiet and peaceful mountain woods overlooking a lake, has the most welcoming and friendly family as the owners. Grace and Timothy are responsive, clean, respectful, and interesting (as well as providing a very comfortable bed!); I'd definitely stay here again when in the Sandpoint area. Unforgettable!

  • This place was everything we needed to rejuvenate and step away from the madness. Steve and Leslie were amazing hosts and made us feel like friends visiting from out of town. We brought our two dogs and they loved roaming around the property. Cute and cozy place at an awesome location, we can’t wait to come back!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at the log cabin at Steve and Leslie's for one night (around spring equinox), and loved our stay. The cabin is so rustic and charming, with beautiful touches. It really gives the look and feel of being in the Idaho wilderness. There was plenty of kindling and firewood, and we loved making fires in the wood stove. In the morning we met Steve and Leslie while they were feeding the horses. The horses loved baby carrots, so we got to give them some good scritches. We brought our own food to heat up in the microwave, so that worked well. The tapwater was good tasting. I think you will love your stay there – definitely recommended!

  • Beautiful log cabin surrounded by lovely property. Super comfortable bed. Steve and Leslie were excellent hosts and had the cabin well stocked with everything you could need before we arrived. We used the wood stove and Steve even delivered more wood to our door! Our dog Brie loved being with us and we felt cozy and warm for our 4 day ski trip to Schweitzer. We will definitely be back.
