The shops and local takeaways are a 2 minute walk away making the location ideal. Natasha was an amazing host and couldn’t have done anymore to make my stay any better. 10/10 would recommend!!!

A little further away is the RSPB Newport Wetlands Nature Reserve. Those with sporting ambitions may take advantage of the quiet roads that incorporate the National Cycle Network. The Newport International Sports Village and Velodrome is about 6 miles away and the Celtic Manor Resort, offering three golf courses including the 2010 Ryder Cup course, is a similar distance. St Pierre Hotel and Country Club, also with its golf course is nearby. The County of Monmouthshire has a lot to offer the visitor – the historic castles of Chepstow and Raglan to name but two, the impressive Tintern Abbey located in the stunning Wye Valley. The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons are areas of natural beauty to explore.
  • What an amazing place to stay in, truely one of a kind, so clean, with everything you need. Sally is an amazing host also! Love this place and will definitely be back. Absolutely fab and can not fault!!

  • This property is just stunning! There is so much more space than what you initially think when looking at the pictures on here. It really is sparkling clean with everything you could hope for during a stay. We stayed here during ‘lockdown’ which really made us realise how equipped the property is eg, big fridge, big freezer, washing machine, great tv, a to die for bathroom and a gorgeous wood burner! Sally is a brilliant host who was rapid with her communication and making sure we had enough direction to find the property and made check in so easy. I would definitely recommend staying here, you’re not too far from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet you feel as though you’re super snug out in the country! A perfect getaway! We would without doubt visit again! A huge thanks to Sally & Ty!

    Sam2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning property and facilities. We couldn’t have asked for more. Modern and stylish. Sally is a perfect host and made us feel right at home with thoughtful touches and excellent communication (tips and local information etc). Highly recommended.

  • Had a great time staying here. The property is really nicely decorated with high quality furnishings throughout. The bed was very comfortable and there was an adjustable thermostat to ensure we had the right temperature. The location is fantastic as it's very close to a number of interesting places. The price was the icing on the cake. Getting to stay in such a wonderful property for the price of a stay in a premier Inn was fantastic!

    Jono2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A really cute home from home. An excellent place for a relaxing getaway. A lot of thought has gone in and there is everything you need. Would definitely recommend.

  • Sally allowed me and my bridesmaids to use the annex to get ready for my wedding. She was very accomodating in allowing us to have the annex around the times which suited us and have our wedding cars pick us up from there. The place was stunning, absolutely perfect. The surroundings amazing but also so close to everything you could need. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Just 2 miles from M4 Junction 23a. Ideal for Newport, Cardiff and Bristol. A well presented self-contained living space offering private entrance, private kitchen, living room, bathroom, double and adjoining single bedroom. Located in rural Monmouthshire and on Severnside cycle routes. Close to Broom Horse riding Centre, Tintern Abbey, Chepstow Castle and Celtic Manor golf resort. Easy access to Bristol or Cardiff. One double bed and one single bed. Additionally a travel cot is available.
Suitable for those that require disabled access, offering ramped access from the outside and accessible wet-room. Although close enough to the M4 to be on your way to Bristol, Newport or Cardiff in 5 minutes, the Annex is situated on a rural lane giving access to bicycle routes across the Severnside plains to the edge of the River Severn. The Magor Marsh Wildlife Reserve is just 1.5 miles away and RSPB Newport Wetlands Nature Reserve is just 20 minutes away. The Annex is set up as an ideal space for a couple to spend a relaxing holiday. But as there is also the room to accommodate family groups comfortably for shorter breaks we have provided (in addition to the main double bed), a single bed in a separate room off the main double bedroom. We have included a floor plan in the listing to help you visualize how the space will best work for you and your group. We will clarify with you after you book exactly what is best for your group and will make arrangements accordingly. A small extra charge may be made for the extra laundry related to extra bedding but that can be handled through the AirBNB platform very simply.
Undy is a rural quiet rural village in Monmouthshire. It is close to the M4 and to mainline train services. It is perfect for those enjoying walking, cycling, horse riding (Broom Event Centre within 6 miles) and generally enjoying the South Wales coast and the events in Bristol and Cardiff.
  • This is the second time I have stayed at the Annex. The place was just as nice as I had remembered it, very clean and perfect for visiting the different towns and cities nearby. Would highly recommend a visit.

  • Absolutely brilliant place to stay. Sparklingly clean, cosy and so well kitted out. Simon welcomed us on our arrival and was happy to help out if we needed anything but was never intrusive! Extra little touches made us feel very welcome. Superb location for exploring South Wales. We took in some amazing castles, abbeys and National Trust properties all within easy reach. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay.

  • Simon and Nicolas place is great. I booked it to take my Dad to Cardiff for the Six Nations. It is spotlessly clean and ideally placed for a short 30 Mon ride into the capital. Simon was great and helped us with places we could eat. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again

    Mark2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in your annex. Your home was ideal for us to explore the local area. We would recommended your home to our friends. Thanks from the Jones family.

    Gary2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Simon & Nicola's place is a hidden gem. It is in a terrific location handily placed for either rail or car journeys into/out of Wales. Set in a peaceful and tranquil location, it had that warm feel at home aura about it. A comfortable bed ensures an extremely good night's sleep is had! Tea & Coffee with fresh milk is provided upon arrival and the accommodation is spotlessly clean. I have nothing but terrific things to say about this stay. Thank you Simon & Nicola.

Charming spacious open-plan Studio in the heart of Monmouthshire. Perfect location for accessing the Wye Valley, Vale of Usk, Cardiff and Bristol. Lovely pub nearby. The outstanding 4-star living accommodation is open-plan with a fitted kitchen area, and a loft-style mezzanine bedroom level. Just drop us a message to get a link to our full 3D walk-through of the property.
The Studio benefits from a wooden floor and large-scale custom made and double-glazed timber framed windows and is decorated in muted Farrow & Ball greens and creams. Furnishing is in a modern country style. We have also fitted a modern and clean luxury kitchen and shower room with all new appliances, which will hopefully make your stay as comfortable as possible. The Studio is equipped with a flat screen Freeview television / DVD player (with iPod / MP3 connectivity) and a CD player / radio. There is a gas 'coal flame' stove to supplement the central heating and make for cosy nights in during winter. A tiled internal entrance porch makes a good place to shed muddy boots and to hang coats. There is also a small patio area with a beautiful view of the church and the centre of the village. There is ample space to store bikes or golf clubs, either in the entrance porch (or we can provide additional space should it be required). All bed linen, towels, gas, electricity and use of Studio washing machine are included. WiFi is free too and 20+mbps. The Studio is annexed to our family home but with its own private entrance so you can have as much privacy as you like but with the comfort that we are just next door if you need any help or recommendations. There is ample free parking on the road outside the Studio. The Studio is strictly no smoking. Cyclists? We have room for bike storage too!
The Studio is surrounded by beautiful countryside, particularly popular with walkers and cyclists. The pretty stone-built village of Shirenewton is a excellent centre for exploring the Wye and Usk valleys, the Brecon Beacons and the Forest of Dean. Although we are only 5 miles from the Severn Bridge (with fantastic access to Bristol and Cardiff) you will find that we are well and truly in the country with the advantages of a thriving village with three pubs (including a gastro pub less than 50 metres walk away and another that serves very good home-cooked food). Keen walkers will find several easy walks mapped from the house and we have equipped The Studio with maps and guides books to the surrounding area. Cyclists will find the area very rewarding, both for road cycling and mountain biking in nearby Wentwood. Golfers will find the famous St Pierre course 4 miles away and the 2010 Ryder Cup venue Celtic Manor 11 miles away. We can also arrange for tennis players to use the members’ village tennis court. Chepstow Racecourse is less than 4 miles away. If you love castles you will also love Monmouthshire! There is a lot more information on the village and the surrounding area available on the Shirenewton Village website.
  • Sarah and Omar have created a beautiful studio to enjoy, even though the weather didn’t play ball when we were down it was still lovely as we got to enjoy our time in the studio even more. Really appreciated the extra touches which meant we didn’t have to immediately dash out to find the shops as well. Would absolutely love to pay the studio a visit again in the future!

    Cherise2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Sarah’s and Omar’s residence. Their place is super comfy and feels homely. Spotless house all the way and some sweet attentions left for us. It was the perfect refuge for our trip into Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire and Cardiff. Easy and fast communication. Thumbs up! We definitely love Wales and the Welsh nation!!!

    Damien2020-02-24T00:00:00Z

    Gabrielle2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra's annex at Barley Hill was a great choice for us and suited our requirements perfectly, we felt most welcomed. There was easy parking which is always a great feature. We were touring this area, perfect for visiting Castles, The Wye Valley and Monmouth. Stunning scenery. There is plenty of space, all very comfortable, stylish and clean. The bed was comfortable and the whole place nice and quiet, conducive to relaxing & a good rest. Great shower and a pleasant private garden to relax in. All in the heart of Shirenewton which is a most pleasant Chocolate Box of a village, it was a mere stroll to the Village Pub that has a very nice menu and was very friendly & welcoming. Sandra provides a microwave and fridge, along with a toaster and kettle, milk, teas and coffee which worked well for us. Excellent value for money and we hope to stay again next time we cross the River Severn!

We are rugby fans, so a copy of Rugby World Magazine & the odd signed shirt might be kicking around. The house has a nice rear garden, with decking & artificial lawns, a wee pond front & back. Located at the end of a Cul-de-Sac with no through access, the village pub & GP surgery is literally over the fence (but, alas there is NO gate or ZipWire), so you will have to walk around. A village shop opens til late (ish) & Caldicot has a Train Station, Castle & Town Centre not too far away.
Guests have access to 2 comfortable, elegant & stylish rooms. One room with a Kingsize Bed & another smaller room, with a Single bed. An adjacent bathroom is at the top of the landing, with a Shower / W.C. downstairs. The kitchen/dinin room leads out on the decking, for a comfortable chillin area. Garden Heaters can we lit up, if needed for a bit of extra warmth, on an autumn/winters evening. Welcome to our home.
Approx 15mins off the M48 Motorway, on the Welsh side of the Old Severn Crossing. 20 mins from the NEW ICC at Celtic Manor Resort. 45 mins from Cardiff where the iconic Principality Stadium is located. We are happy (when possible) to drop/collect guests at the Train Station, which is 10 mins away. Pleasant walks from Blackrock to Sudbrook, Caldicot Castle is a short stroll away. The beautiful town of Chepstow renowned for it's Castle & Racecourse is in a neighbouring town, just a short car/bus trip away. For a small village the Bus Service is pretty good & frequent.
  • Chris and sue are a nice friendly welcoming couple no hesitation for me to book again. The house is super clean and the bed reminds me of home.

    Kadir2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Chris are great hosts. They arranged for access to their home while they were out. We had access to two bedrooms, a bathroom and the kitchen. Tea and coffee making facilities were also available in the rooms, a breakfast with cereals was set for us in the kitchen. The tablets were a thoughtful touch, much appreciated by my son.

This is a first floor apartment with a large main bedroom containing a large super king bed or 2 singles, a small room with a bed settee, a kitchen and a shower room. There's a small hallway downstairs leading to a private terrace. We are close to Caldicot Castle, St Pierre, Celtic Manor Resort, Brooms Event Centre, Wye Valley, Wales Coastal Walk, Offa's Dyke, and Chepstow Diving Centre. Caldicot is a small town close to the M4 & M5 motorways so easy reach of many locations.
This is a first floor apartment with a large main bedroom, with large flat screen TV, containing either a large super king bed or 2 singles. There is a smaller room that has a bed settee that can be converted to a double bed (4ft 6in bed). This room also has a large flat screen TV. The kitchen over looks the owners garden and the local cricket club beyond, it has fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, TV, and dining table and chairs. We also provide cereal, tea, coffee, milk and sugar for your breakfast. The shower room has been recently refurbished. Downstairs is a small hallway providing an area for coats and outdoor shoes. Outside there's a private patio area with table and chairs.
Caldicot is a small town close to the M4 & M5 motorways so easy reach of Cardiff, Bristol, Gloucester etc. Caldicot hosts several cafes, pubs, restaurants and take-a-ways, as well as supermarkets if you prefer to cater for yourselves. We are in walking distance of Caldicot Castle which is set in extensive parkland. Its origins are Norman, but it was largely restored in the 19th century to create a charming building which combines building styles through the centuries. The castle is open to the public and also hosts a range of shows and events throughout the year. David Broome Event Centre is just 1 mile down the road. Close to Caldicot are the remains of an even older settlement, the ancient Roman town of Venta Silurum, now in the village of Caewent. The large number of ruined buildings are some of the best preserved in Britain, and in some areas the defensive walls are around 5m high. Domestic details such as the underfloor heating, or Hypocaust, survive in the remains of one of the town houses. Also close by are the hidden gardens and grottos of Dewstow House. The gardens were originally built around 1900 but were buried after WWII, they were rediscovered in 2000 and have now been renovated. The gardens contain many ponds and rills but interestingly a labyrinth of underground grottoes, tunnels and sunken ferneries. The rock gardens are made up of a mixture of real stone and faced stone using various types of Pulhamite. Nearby golf courses are St Pierre and the Celtic Manor Resort. The medieval town of Chepstow is just 5 miles away, here you'll find many bars & restaurants, gift shops, cobbled streets, and the starting points for the Wye Valley Walk, the Wales Coastal Walk, and Offa's Dyke.

  • Had a great time here for my wife’s birthday. We were blessed with clear skies and striking sunrises over the hills whilst laying in bed. Had the fortune of spotting a couple of foxes warming up in the morning sun, too. Nick was fast to respond, helpful when asked for tips and has a super lovely puppy.

    Rob2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful hut! The views are outstanding. The craftsmanship of the hut are excellent. We had a very comfortable stay and bought the New Year in, in style! Watching the fireworks across the valley, cosy by the fire. Can’t wait to come back!

  • Great little hut, all the mod cons you need to make you feel comfortable, very impressed with how roomy it feels and how much they've fitted in the space. Views are wonderful and it's lovely and peaceful. Great starting point to reach lots of interesting places nearby. Massive Waitrose about 20 min drive away too which we stopped at to pick up some essentials on the way through. My daughter loved it and said she was sad to leave! Highly recommend and would return if we're ever coming this way again.

  • You couldn’t ask for more - a perfect host and an idyllic retreat in this lovely corner of Wales. Cosy, stylish and extremely well thought out accommodation with glorious views across the valley to the wooded hillside beyond. We enjoyed waking to the morning sun streaming through the windows, meeting Nick’s flock of Exmoor sheep, watching a small herd of fallow deer in one of the fields below, and gazing up at the stars before bedtime.....

The perfect place to stay if you are looking to spend the weekend attending a wedding in one of our two local wedding venues. Our room in the village of Pwllmeyric is 5 mins from Chepstow with its castle and many pubs, cafes and restaurants and close to the Severn Bridge giving access to/from the M4 and M5. Chepstow has a railway and bus station if you are travelling by public transport.
This listing is for our large king size room, with private bathroom. Please see our separate listing if there are up to four of you wishing to stay with us, and are happy to share the private bathroom. The "blue" room is quiet, spacious and comfortable. You can help yourselves to tea/coffee from our kitchen, and a light breakfast can be provided on request. If you need a lift to either of the local wedding venues, need an earlier check in to drop bags before attending a wedding, or if there is anything else we can help with please just ask!

A welcoming and stylish environment with full use of kitchen and amenities, dining room and garden. The bed is a small double. Room has comfortable seating area for Netflix and Sky viewing. Have as much tea and coffee throughout your stay as you would like. Breakfast is self-serve of cereal, toast and preserves. Owner of house is friendly but not intrusive and has two cute dogs. My home is a short distance to the Celtic Manor, ICC and M4 junction 24 Coldra Roundabout.
Has own gate and entrance to guest part of property. The room is open and airy with space to sit down and watch T.V. or sit at the desk with your laptop. It's generally a quiet environment within a quiet location. The bathroom has a double sized shower with adjoining make-up/ hair drying facilities. Hospitality toiletries are provided. The patio doors go out to the pleasant and well kept back garden with pathway to your own gated entrance.
The property is located one mile from the Celtic Manor and ICC. South Wales is a wonderful location with several castles within minutes of the property which is literally five minutes away from the Prince of Wales Bridge. The house is situated on the outskirts of Newport within a quiet cul-de-sac. Cardiff and Bristol are both 20 minutes away - depending on traffic of course! Despite being so close to the M4 within 1 minute of junction 24 you wouldn't know you were anywhere near a motorway.

  • Sarah was a wonderful host. We didn't realise that AirBnB would involve sharing a space with someone and we were pleasantly surprised. Sarah has a great sense of humour and was really accommodating to our needs. We spent time chatting and getting to know each other. I would highly recommend staying here just to meet Sarah as she is a remarkable woman and has lots of interesting stories to tell. The room we had included an en-suite and had it's own access. The kitchen was shared with Sarah and was lovely. Everything you could need was there and available to use. Sarah communicated well with us before hand and welcomed us by waiting outside so we could see what house was hers (evening though it was absolutely freezing). Don't hesitate to book this place, it was perfect.

  • A wonderful first experience with Air B&B will definitely be back to stay. Our host was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area we wanted to explore. We were made to feel very much at home and the spotless amenities and special touches were fantastic. The kitchen and dining facilities were more than we ever expected and fresh fruit and choices of bread cereals etc were a lovely touch. I would highly recommend staying here definitely 5*+

Strictly no parking on the lane because it is a public footpath and a right of way but additional parking, if required, is available nearby. • The accommodation is spacious, private, quiet and clean. Toni was very welcoming and accommodating. I appreciated having the basic supplies provided such as bread, milk, butter and jam as well as teas and coffees.

    Richard2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in July for a site meeting - for a Wedding we were photographing in September [in fact yesterday 22.9.2019] at The West Usk Lighthouse. What a find Toni's place is... we were so comfortable in July that we booked for the 2 nights for the Wedding this weekend. So we drove down from mid-Wales to Newport on Saturday night after a Wedding - and knowing what we were coming to was so good... we were tired and we knew that we would be comfortable and get a really good night's sleep. We stopped last night too - after the Wedding - as we were there until late... they had fireworks! Toni's place has everything you need and you can really make yourselves at home... comfortable beds and you have space and the kitchen area has all you need. Being able to make breakfast with toast and coffee and tea [not sachets and UHT milk] fresh milk and orange juice in the fridge and a lovely little fresh loaf and marmalade/butter... what more could you ask for or need? We may have been working photographing the Wedding - we actually felt like we had had a little break away... just don't want to use Premier Inns [or the like] ever again they are so impersonal and often noisy... we're getting on well using Airbnbs now - Toni's place is quiet in a little residential area. Thanks Toni - been a pleasure to stay at your place.

    Julia2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Toni's studio appartment was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. An extensive welcome pack meant the breakfast I had purchased for the following morning was supurluous and so nice to find fresh milk in the fridge rather than UHT portions! Location is in a quiet residential area and within five minutes of ICC Wales, and much better value than the neighbouring hotels. I look forward to staying again next time I am in Newport.

    Adrian2019-09-18T00:00:00Z

  • We had a fantastic family stay at Griff’s place. The accommodation is an annex to the main house and is exactly as described. Griff and Bethan were great hosts and very attentive before and during our stay. Griff also kindly took my children to feed the animals on the farm which was a lovely touch. I’d highly recommend a stay at Griff’s place.

    Phil2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Griff and Bethan's place was exactly what we needed. A private dark-skies little countryside alpinesque paradise, unbelievably just a few mins off the motorway so really convenient for Cardiff/Bristol. The treat of hens and goats for our young boys to start the day was lovely. Everything needed as a base for a few days, and spotlessly clean. Would stay again if we get a chance!

Goats, sheep, cats and chickens are all there to greet your arrival. Just one thing to note - take it very steady going up the lane to the property; the underside of an A4 Audi grounded in a couple of places where there ware ruts in the lane.

  • Great place. The double bedroom has 2 walls of windows so lovely to look out on a sunny morning!!

  • Firstly, communication is great with clear instructions on where to go once reservation ok. Farm was clean, cottage was cosy and homely. There was everything we needed to cook meals etc. The beds were comfy (loved the duvets). We were undisturbed- we expected to hear the animals but we didn't. Usually I struggle to sleep in new places but this was a first for me to fall asleep so quickly. We were in a great location, in the forest yet close to Newport and Cardiff. Just cant say enough how thankful we are. A little treasure. Bethan was kind, my girls were excited to feed the animals with her. We had a great time. Beautiful sunsets.

The Old Dairy is a beautiful three storey 1850’s stone cottage in the semi-rural village of Bishton (near Magor) - a country feel yet scores of amenities within a short drive. You'll notice heaps of original features from its working farm history, including stone walls, oak beams, wood floors plus many other quirky characteristics! It has a well furnished, cosy living room/kitchen for your comfort. Sleeping space - The Apple Loft & Creamery are delightfully unique and tastefully furnished.
The Old Dairy is a hugely unique, three storey cottage with cosy yet totally functional living space on the ground floor, gorgeous bedroom and bathroom with original floorboards on the first floor (Old Creamery), then above you’ll find The Apple Loft, a spacious Master bedroom & office with stunning oak beams in the attic space. The Old Dairy is ideally situated - with quick motorway access just 5 mins from the M4 Severn/Prince of Wales Bridge - The Gateway To Wales - giving fantastic access to all nearby attractions - as well as being right on the edge of stunning Monmouthshire. The cottage is ideal for a romantic hideaway for couples or weekend retreat for friends - all of whom are more than welcome to bring well behaved dogs along with them. My two Springers love it here. The cottage is also suitable for professionals working in the area requiring easy access to M4 & M5 motorways, and is an ideal base to get around. Within 5 minutes drive is the quaint nearby village of Magor, offering a choice of coffee shops and places to eat. (This includes a Co-Op store, Chinese/Fish & Chip/Pizza takeaway, two Indian restaurants, a post office, a barber, dentist, hairdresser & beauty salon, a small bakery, and two pet friendly pubs). For those who are a little adventurous, you can walk to Historic Magor Square with the dogs for a delicious meal at the award winning Golden Lion. Find a seat on a comfy sofa by their log burners, choose a well earned glass of hand picked wine, experience first class service and welcoming atmosphere from Louise and her team before walking off our dinner on the way home. Highly recommended! Dogs are allowed in the bar at the front. The Old Dairy even provides our guests with a complimentary voucher for The Golden Lion and a copy of their menu & cocktail list - just let them know you’re staying at The Old Dairy to redeem the voucher! (I can also recommend a local taxi service for those who would like to take advantage of everything but the walk!). Other places to eat are; The Milton Hotel, Llanwern. The Farmers Arms, Goldcliffe The Rose Inn, Redwick. There are lovely walks from the cottage - with or without dogs, plus Wentwood forest a short drive away provides miles upon miles of forest trails! The RSPB Wetlands centre is also nearby for a stroll close to nature. The Magor to Goldcliffe Coastal Path Walk forms part of the Gwent Levels and is well worth it. Top tip - try out the quirky little Seawall Tearooms at Goldcliffe! If you’re a cycling enthusiast it’s perfect as there are plenty of flat roads and villages to explore - there are lots of cycle routes available on: http://www.newport.gov.uk/documents/Leisure-and-Tourism/Newport-Cycle-Map-Edition-3.pdf. Places of interest also close by; 15 mins from Chepstow/Forest of Dean. 25 mins from Tintern Abbey/Wye Valley. 30 mins from Cardiff 25 mins from Bristol 15 mins from Newport 7 mins from the Celtic Manor Spa Hotel, conference and golf resort. Nearby are the Monmouthshire towns of Usk (8 miles), Chepstow (10miles) & Monmouth (17miles). Other places worth visiting; Magor Marsh Nature Reserve - 90 acres of Wetland (5 mins) Caldicot Castle & Country Park - great for dog walks (10 mins) St Fagans (30 mins) Chepstow Racecourse (15 mins) Newport Transporter Bridge (10mins) Carleon & surround area (10 mins) Tredegar House & Gardens National Trust - pet friendly (15 mins) Sirhowy Valley Country Park (25 mins) In addition, there are many well known chain restaurants in Spytty Retail Park, and the new Friar’s Walk shopping complex in Newport. Or if you want more choice, you can always nip into Cardiff (16 minutes) or Bristol (21minutes) on the train from Newport station if you’d like a spot of retail therapy! There are two parking spaces to the rear of the cottage, and an extremely pleasant front garden which has the sun all day at the front. I very much enjoy keeping the garden pretty this time of year for guests to enjoy - feel free to sit outside on the garden set to enjoy your morning coffee or a little al fresco dining! I love our birds in the garden at The Old Dairy and will leave plenty of food so that you can fill the feeders if you wish. There is a resident Bishton Woodpecker around most days along with plenty of robins, sparrows, tits and a whole host of other fabulous songbirds who will all happily feed right outside the front door. Passing trains can sometimes be heard and seen in the distance on the far side of the fields. The excellent additional glazing in the Old Creamery ensures a quiet nights rest. Sometimes guests are lucky enough to have a sighting of a passing steam train, which is a real treat! The kitchen is small but perfect for everything you need! It has a traditional Belfast sink and electric oven, microwave and fridge/freezer. There is a washer dryer at the cottage for your use, (although please try to use the washing line for drying in summer). The living space has a beautiful old Welsh dresser and old antique pine pieces in keeping with the age of the cottage with very comfortable leather sofa and chairs. The bedrooms have high quality furnishings and bed linen for your comfort. The Old Dairy welcomes your furry companion with open paws!!! We provide spare leads, bowls, towels and blankets for you to use in the antique pine trunk in the living room for an enjoyable and comfortable stay with your pet. (PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT PROVIDE GUEST TOWELS. PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR OWN, THANK YOU). Very happy to answer any queries at any time, and look forward to hearing from you! Best wishes, Anna
The village of Bishton's historic name was “Bishop’s Town”. It is a linear village dating back to the post-Roman period when it was a centre for the Bishops of Llandaff. It has a strong association with Cadwaladr the Blessed, the last Welsh king to claim sovereignty of Britain. Cadwaladr later became a Welsh Christian Saint and Bishton’s Church is named after him, one of only three in Wales. Key features of Bishton today are St Cadwaladr’s Church, the former Primary School (now the village hall), a number of houses dating from the 17th/18th centuries together with more recent dwellings including several converted from agricultural barns. Its population is about 150.

  • We had an amazing stay at The Old Dairy. The cottage is beautifully decorated and feels very homely. Anna was extremely accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Our two dogs also found their stay very comfortable and settled very quickly. The local area is beautiful with a lovely walk that we took them on to tire them out. We will definitely be booking for future family events.

  • Wonderful, cozy home away from home that had everything we needed for our stopover! nothing better than the Welsh countryside from a bathroom winter or cozy loft space to lock myself away in!

  • If you want somewhere that feels like the cottage in The Holiday then this is the place for you. And the beds!!!! So comfy. I would say this was like a home from home, but it’s nicer than my home 🙂 100% recommend.

The area is beautiful, and would be perfect for walking. Lovely touches like Welsh cakes and a coffee machine made the stay very pleasant, and it was great value for the price.

  • The house was a little tricky to find, not least because two separate Satnav systems took us to two separate (wrong) locations. However once we found the house the room was spotlessly clean and exactly as described. The bed was comfortable, and even at the height of one of the stormiest nights of the year (Storm Dennis) and we had a great night's sleep. Our host could not have been more welcoming, despite being understandably distracted looking for her lost puppy.

    Tim2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Joanna is an excellent host. It was our first experience of air bnb and she couldn't have been more welcoming. She was always on hand yet we didn't feel our privacy was invaded. Continental breakfast was fab!

  • We stayed here during storm Dennis so didn’t venture out much but couldn’t have asked for a nicer space to be ‘trapped’ in. The hut is more spacious than you’d think and has everything you need to make it a little home for the weekend. The host is very friendly and was very accommodating. The puppy was an added bonus, she was very well behaved! The views are stunning as you’d expect from the welsh countryside. 10/10 for me and I’ll definitely come back in the summer.

What else can you want? Great weekend and a great stay.

Sorry, no children or pets. Minimum two night stay. Additional features Central heating. Fitted gas oven. Fridge with small freezer. Garden furniture. Fire pit. Barbecue. Two bicycles available on request. Attractions and nearby amenities The attractive historic town of Chepstow is four miles away, boasting one of the oldest stone built castles in Britain. While you’re visiting Chepstow, don’t miss Chepstow Racecourse – the venue hosts everything from food festivals to concerts. The evocative ruins of Tintern Abbey are just two miles away. Immortalised in a poem by Wordsworth, the ruins are set in a beautiful wooded valley with plenty of walks to enjoy. If Tintern whets your appetite for ruins, don’t miss Raglan Castle near Monmouth. With a great tower, gatehouse and moat, this is everything a castle should be. Further up the River Wye is the border market town of Monmouth, where you’ll find a famous 13th century bridge stretching over the River Monnow as well as modern boutiques and galleries. One of the delights of Monmouth is The Whitebrook, a Michelin-starred restaurant, but if you fancy creating a dish or two of your own, Usk Farmer’s Market has lots of stalls offering fine, fresh produce. Markets are held every first and third Saturday of each month throughout the year. If you’d like to take some exercise in the great outdoors, the Royal Forest of Dean has lots of cycle paths to explore, and you can hire off-road bikes here too. For an enjoyable stroll through the woodland, look out for signs for the sculpture trail. Many award-winning restaurants and pubs are just a short drive away from Anne’s Hut, as are two first class golf courses, St Pierre (10 minutes away) and Celtic Manor (25 minutes away). In nearby Caerwent you’ll find Dewstow House, a nineteenth century villa. But people visit more for the gardens than the property – see how many hidden grottoes you can discover.

  • Before arriving at mandys, we had already had extensive conversations about anything we may need to make the stay with my husband and 2 young children as comfortable as possible. Mandy was the most welcoming host and put us at ease straight away about the worry of the children making too much noise, nothing was too much trouble. It was lovely having our own space yet knowing anything we needed was one request away. The room was made up freshly for us on the second evening and the lovely extra touches such as crisps, breakfast bars and coffee facilities made it the perfect stay for our family. Mandy also went the extra mile by advising us on places to take the children on our journey home down south to break the trip up, and they absolutely loved her recommendations , 100% spot on! If we ever needed to stay in the area again we would without a doubt stay here and would reccomend mandy 100%.

  • Clean, fresh and cosy little loft conversion, in a superb location for the Celtic Manor or the ICC Wales. Host is wonderful and friendly and will endeavour to assist with any of your needs. The little touches of a nice coffee machine, fresh plump towels and a lovely selection of teas, helps after a long day out visiting family and friends.

  • Amazing getaway in the Welsh countryside. The barn was clean, modern and had everything we needed for our stay. The views are outstanding, wish we could have stayed forever!

    Megan2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Dolly’s Barn is every bit as beautiful as the photographs. The cottage is well equipped and very cosy especially on a blustery March evening. We had a lovely weekend and hope to return again soon.

  • Had a wonderful two night stay at the cottage. Beautiful views and friendly cows at the window in the morning. Cosy living room with log burner which our dog loved lying in front of. The sofas and bed were super comfy. Helen has put a lot of thought into leaving helpful tips for dog walks, places to visit etc. Everything was very easy and relaxed. We went to the Tredegar Arms for a meal on Saturday night about a mile away. Gorgeous food, great beer and excellent friendly service, plus dog friendly. Lots of nice little walks close by and a trip into Chepstow town was lovely. All in all a great place to stay!

    Hannah2019-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here and would highly recommend booking - Helen was great in the run up and both the location and cottage was beautiful. It was wonderful to walk amongst the rolling fields and come home to the cozy log fire too. Our dog and 2 cats enjoyed the stay as much as we did!

    Yanna2019-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage with fantastic views well worth a visit will be on our return list

    Sharron2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Dollys barn is the perfect base to explore the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean area. We loved the quiet rural views and the wood burning stove was a delight. Helen was very welcoming , giving loads of local tips and advice . We cant wait to come back.

    Hans2018-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great couple of days at Helen's place. We brought along our dog who loved having the outdoor space to wander around. The cottage overlooks the Welsh countryside (there is even some inquisitive cows in the field next to it) and is well located to explore Wye Valley and the surrounding area. Helen's cottage is everything you could need for a relaxing break away. We arrived late to the heating on and all the lights lit. It made the long journey totally worth it. Helen has thought of pretty much everything you might need, and we hope to be back at some point in the future! Highly recommended!

The Snug is one of 2 Fabulous Newly Renovated Barns accommodating 2 people or 6 when added to the adjoining Yaffle Barn. Our 2 luxurious cottages are set deep in the heart of the beautiful Monmouthshire Countryside on a working Farm and Livery yard set in a wildlife reserve. There are circular walks around the reserve and wider landscape from the door making them a wonderful rural hideaway from the everyday clamour of modern life yet still only 2 hours from London and 40 mins from Bristol.
The accommodation is approached from a set of steps down to a ground floor entrance into a well designed living area with small fully equipped kitchen area, contemporary woodburner and large sofa living area. The spiral staircase leads upstairs to a double bedroom, bed topped with our own British White Cowhide, and featuring Moroccan plaster and curved feature walls. The Shower room at the top of the stairs has a rainshower and lovely thick fluffy towels together with an abundance of luxury toiletries. Each room also features our own thick sheepskin rugs on the floors. The Snug adjoins Yaffle Barn at first floor level and the two can be booked together to provide accommodation for 8-10 guests . The 2 Barns share a large garden, but each has it's own private seating area. You are welcome to roam the rest of the garden in addition to the surrounding Wildlife Reserve. There are 2 lovely pubs with great food within walking distance.
  • Simply perfect! Such a cosy, romantic space...Storm Dennis meant that Usk was cut off one of the days of our stay but I can’t imagine being hunkered down anywhere more idyllic. Ellie is a great host, the snug is beautifully presented and to a really high spec. Highly recommend, perfect for a romantic get away...will definitely be back!

    Holly2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at this stylish farm property. Lots of space and Ellie was a great host for the kids, showing them the horses and feeding the farm animals.

    Chris2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • As snug as the description! This place is a true gem, immaculately clean and more than enough amenities. The private place is located close to Usk and really set in the heart of rural Wales. I thoroughly recommend staying here, especially as a couple for complete privacy! Would definitely stay again

  • The snug is a cozy and inviting cottage. The location is peaceful and quiet, but actually not far from shops. Lots of opportunities to explore Wales or just relax on the farm. Very much enjoyed my time there.
