  • We came for a girls weekend of peace away and had a fabulous time. The hot tub was well used- worth setting an early alarm to watch the sun rise from the tub. We have both said we will be back :-) Lucy & Louise

  • An absolutely amazing break with quirky good vibes. Perfectly set in the middle of nowhere the perfect get away from reality. Plenty of local villages and the national park not too far away. The bluebird penthouse was everything I could of imagined. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we cant wait to return.

  • The most magical place EVER. We expected the Bluebird Penthouse to be a beautiful, tranquil place when we booked it and saw the pictures, however they do it no justice - the whole is the epitome of beauty and relaxation. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing weekend away this is THE place. The caravan itself has everything you need and more, and has a perfect full size bathroom including a lush, deep bath and 2 radiators which keep it lovely and warm and space for your towels (which are provided!). The bed is unbelievably comfy and quite large - there are plenty of plugs around the bed to charge your phone etc. The place is absolutely flawless and we literally felt at home there from the second we arrived. We loved how everything was so well considered such as little booklets and notes holding plenty of tips and info about where to go/ eat / see and we wish the weather was a little better so we could of sat outside and had a BBQ! The outdoor area is beautiful with a little table and comfy chairs to relax in and then a little table with 2 chairs which would be great for meals outside !! We will definitely be returning but hopefully for longer than a weekend next time 🤗

  • This place is so much fun! The views from the penthouse are incredible and the Land Rover hot tub is a fantastic feature. We will definitely recommend this place to friends looking for a relaxing break.

  • Best friend and I needed a night away as far as away and this hit the spot. Spent all night laughing and having a great time in tub. Before that we ventured for a walk to find great spots for taking pictures. Comfortable stay, welcoming and friendly hosts. Lovely area too!

  • Highly recommend! Really different and quirky, my partner and I loved it! :D would definitely stay again! Thank you Ralph!!

  • A super quirky escape to the depths of Devon. Hot tub is fab. Caravan very cute and cosy (even when blowing a gale and chucking it down outside!). Lovely local walks to local pubs in High Bickington, Roborough and Beaford.

  • Helen and her husband are great hosts. The facility is well appointed. The kitchen has a lot of nice extra utensils. The pans are very high quality. The location is in a beautiful rural location. You do need your own transportation to get around the area. The indoor pool and hot tub are really nice.

    Bob2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding Hospitality and facilities. Definitely a great place to stay. We were a group of eight and we all felt very welcome and looked after throughout our stay. Hazel and John were always on hand when we needed anything and have great local knowledge. The pool, the barbeque cabin and cinema room are the icing on the cake. 100% would recommend this accommodation to families and groups.

    Nilesh2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • We booked the large house that sleeps 10 and it was as advertised and more. The extras which were provided such as tea, coffee and cake for when we arrived, the board games etc and in the brilliant swimming pool were pool toys and swimming aids for the children. We would be happy to recommend the house to everyone

    Margaret2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in cottage number 6 was great. The cottage is stylish and very spacious. We were a group of 6 adults and 2 young children. It was sparkly clean and the kitchen was fully equipped. The facilities on site are fabulous - great pool and fantastic park area for the kids. The setting is very peaceful yes close to lots of things to do. Hazel was great at communicating and sent us thorough details for everything we needed before our arrival. I will definitely be coming back!

    Vicky2019-10-18T00:00:00Z

  • It was ideal for 6 adults and 2 children. It was very spacious and had plenty of equipment in the kitchen with double amounts of plates and cutlery. The pool was fantastic and it was lovely to just walk across the courtyard. It was peaceful and set in a lovely location with good access to beaches and towns.

  • Stayed this weekend and had a great time. 3 kids and a dog, plenty of space for us all. Warm and cosy even though the house is huge! 3 good size bedrooms, 2 lovely shower rooms and a big open plan living/kitchen area. Fully equipt kitchen, everything supplied! Very clean. The outdoor space was great, lawn and decked area, hot tub was enjoyed by the kids. The hosts were informative and helpful, there is a good guide book to look through. Always on hand for a chat or information or the offer of fresh eggs! The house is located within a farm, the lake was fun- got the boat out for a paddle. Played ping pong and had some family fun. Fed the horses carrots , there is plenty to do for the kids to keep them entertained there. Woolacombe beach is a ten minute drive, gorgeous beach even in the wind and rain. Dog friendly this time of year too. Hired bikes in the local village of Braunton, £15 for 2 adult bikes all day, thanks Otters cycles. Did the Tarka trail and ended up in Barnstaple having tea and cake. Siam bistro in Braunton was delicious, got a takeaway one night. I'd recommend this place, we will be back!

  • A little gem of a retreat in the North Devon countryside, and with the coast just being less than a 10 min drive away. Pollyanna is a kind and thoughtful host. She provided us with local information, she’s always on hand if needed and even warming up our hot tub when we’d been out for the day so it was ready when we returned. We loved the layout of the place and it was very clean and the kitchen has everything you need. The views are stunning and the lake a tranquil retreat. We were there for my husbands 40th birthday and our 3 children of 9 and 8 yrs. The Farm provided enough things for us to do if we wanted to stay there all day or there were lots of other activities close by if needed. We really had a special time, the hot tub is amazing and we have lots of wonderful memories to take away with us. Thanks to Pollyanna and her husband for having us.

  • 6 girls stayed for a relaxing weekend. We had such a lovely time & there was plenty of space for all of us. Such lovely decor and personal touches throughout the property. We loved the hot tub & the location was perfect. Pollyanna was fantastic. Very quick at responding to messages and facilitating all queries. We will definitely be returning.

    Nina2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Pollyanna’s place over the weekend. It was exactly what we had wanted! Fantastic space for a relaxed winter weekend with lots of walks and places to explore. The views from the house were incredible as were the surroundings. Close distance to anything you would need and everyone was very sad to have to come home!! Pollyanna couldn’t have been more helpful and we are very grateful to have found such a lovely host and location. Would highly recommend!!

    Cassandra2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re wanting a relaxing retreat away from the hustle and bustle than look no further! Pollyanna’s little cottage is beyond perfection. It offered everything that we wanted, a place to chill whilst still keeping us busy with lots things to do. Close to the beach, national trust areas and lots of adventurous walks to go on! We all absolutely loved our time there to the point my youngest son wants to live there! Haha! Pollyanna and her family are so warming and welcoming and they can’t do enough for you! We are very much looking forward to returning there soon xx

FOC ACCOMMODATION FOR COVID19 FIRST RESPONDERS Boutique, dog friendly, luxury cottage. Nestled in the heart of glorious Devon. with views over a rich, verdant wooded valley. The Cider Barn has been lovingly restored and is now a luxurious holiday home (chosen for Airbnb Plus).
Step into the Barn and you'll feel your worries and cares slip away as your holiday begins. This is a gentle space where calm colours and subtle French influences abound… from the luxurious linens to the antique beds. LIVING Laze on sumptuous velvet sofas around the enormous OKA coffee table or while away an hour or two reading, curled deep amongst the linen cushions on the day bed… The double height living area is fabulously expansive at 44’ yet with subtly lime-washed oak floors and beams, together with considered lighting; it delivers warm, intimate spaces. The eco-friendly ethanol ‘log burner’ (that “hooray” requires no cleaning) and rich scented candles add to the feeling of relaxation and retreat. Summer or winter it is possible to create your own little bit of Danish Hygge here in the heart of Devon. Enjoy the sight of world-class dressage horses as they are led out to graze in the paddocks beyond. And on the subject of the four-legged… we haven’t forgotten that man’s best friend also loves to take time out and snooze so there’s an enormous and deliciously comfortable dog bed (the design has been fully tried and tested by our 4 very discerning terriers). The Cider Barn may be in deepest, unspoilt Devon but it enjoys super fast 4G-boosted WIFI, a Beats Pill, DAB radio, Amazon Alexa, Freeview TV and DVD players (together with a wide selection of films). However, if you prefer a more analogue approach to your holiday entertainment there’s an extensive choice of books, board games and some amazing birdlife. As the sun starts to set you may even catch sight of the wild deer in the fields or a hare or two. KITCHEN & DINING The Cider Barn has a bespoke, hand built kitchen with the darkest of grey slate work surfaces set against Farrow & Ball’s delicious Purbeck Stone. There’s a large six-hob range cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso, Dyson Animal etc. The kitchen has a rather cool, concrete resin breakfast table, which overlooks the ménage where the neighbouring talented Baronswood Equestrian team break-in the young dressage horses. A separate and more formal dining area for long, relaxing dinners lies just beyond and this seats 6. SLEEPING The Cider Barn, rather uniquely, has direct garden access from both the ground and first floors (it’s built into the valley hillside). Two serene and individually designed bedrooms await on the lower floor… The spacious master has a gorgeous and wonderfully comfortable, king-size bed with pure linen throw and a vintage French sofa. A large double window opens out onto views of a sunken courtyard. There’s an en suite wet room with rain shower and complimentary Molton Brown toiletries. The second bedroom has two finely upholstered antique, single French beds, Gustavian bedside table, hand painted wardrobe and doors leading out into The Cider Barn’s very pretty cottage garden. It’s a lovely place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and have a peek to see if the water lilies are thinking about coming out for the day. There’s a family bathroom with a sumptuous, freestanding bath fantastic for soaking after a day walking on Dartmoor or for the children to play in a mountain of bubbles. If there’s more than four of you, the Loaf day bed in the living space converts to a double or two singles in the blink of an eye. OIL FIRED HOT TUB Indulging in the uber-trendy Swedish wood-fired steel hot tub is an absolute must. Bathe under the stars with a glass of fizz and the gentle crackle of a Birch log fire. This hot tub uses no chemicals and does not tick over using electricity… so its great for you, the environment (and for our hydrangeas who benefit from the water). OUTDOOR SPACE The Cider Barn has a sweet cottage garden with ornamental pond, hot tub and bistro seating. There’s also a second alfresco dining area in the a former walled orchard (that is a work in progress returning to former status. There's sun loungers, large dining table, kettle BBQ, fire pit and a gas fired Ooni Koda pizza oven. Timeless, rural Devon... deeply rural, winding lanes and a great place to explore. The Cider Barn is set between the ancient villages of Zeal Monachorum and North Tawton and is part of the historic Baronswood Manor darting back to 1492. While you may not want to leave the splendid rural isolation of The Cider Barn, it is superbly positioned for exploring both Devon and North Cornwall. It truly is a place where you can stick a pin in a map and ask… “where shall we go today?” The gateway to Dartmoor… Okehampton, lies just 8 miles away. The renowned jewel of the National Park, Chagford, with its gastro pubs and boutiques, is around 20 minutes away through some idyllic lanes (it’s a great place to enjoy lunch if you’ve visited the National Trust’s Castle Drogo). Head east to visit RHS Rhosemoor or the timeless charm of Clovelly or gems like Woolacombe or Croyde on the North Devon coast. If you’ve crossed Dartmoor National Park don’t miss out on the ultra-fashionable Salcombe, seeing the yachts at Dartmouth or perhaps pick up some antiques in the charming town of Ashburton. Exeter is a fabulous Roman city well worth a visit if only to enjoy lunch overlooking the Cathedral green. The Cider Barn is well positioned for memorable days out into Cornwall to Bude and NT Sandymouth (55 mins), Lanhydrock House (55 mins), Boscastle or Tintagel (60 mins), Port Issac (75 mins), Eden Project (75 mins), Padstow (90 mins).
  • Had a fab stay in Devon, the cider barn is an incredible place to stay and Louise is a gem, her hospitality was amazing and she went above and beyond throughout our entire stay. Would love to return!

  • What can I say about the Cider Barn apart from.... WOW, OMG, outstanding and Air BnB gold!! We stayed for my 40th and everything was amazing and Louise was the most attentive and thoughtful Host. There were gifts for the kids (colouring sets and chocs) some bubbles for us and even a birthday cake!! This was better than any five star hotel we’ve stayed in around the world and if you want a truly magical stay in an amazing quiet location then you HAVE to book here.

    Tom2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Cider Barn is a gorgeous hideaway in rural Devon. We came for a weekend of relaxation, and mission accomplished! It was the perfect place to be sheltered from Storm Dennis, very cozy and warm. This place had everything we needed, plus so many thoughtful touches, and we felt right at home. The interior design of the Cider Barn is top notch. Our dog loved the dog paddock where he played and ran around freely and safely. A great bonus if you have a pup with you. Louise was an excellent host, super friendly and helpful. We’d definitely stay at The Cider Barn again!

    Jess2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Cider Barn is exceptionally brilliant and Louise is a top, top host who will go the extra mile to make sure you have a great stay. We hope to return again soon :)

  • Pollyanna and her husband were both lovely and welcoming. The jacuzzi was ready for us when we arrived along with a bottle of fizz in the fridge which was a lovely touch. Pollyanna gave us some fantastic recommendations on places to go in there area and she was super friendly to our dog too. The place itself was stylish and clean and the beds were super comfy (with beautiful bedding). The shower was also really good. We were close to lots of beaches and pretty villages. Would highly recommend The Depot which is 2 min drive away for brunch - the nachos are yummy! We definitely want to come back and next time we’re planning to bring friends as this find is too good not to share.

  • Amazing all round

  • Pollyanna met us and ran through everything in detail. She was very friendly, welcoming and had prepped everything, from setting up the hot tub fire to giving us baking foil for our Christmas dinner! The place was clean and very smart. Clearly a lot of care an attention goes into cottage and it’s surroundings. The kitchen was so well stocked that we were able to cook our Christmas dinner with ease. A wonderful touch was the huge and majestic Christmas tree which made everything very seasonal and homely. I would highly recommend this place and would happily come back. If you are looking for smart, well catered, warm and conveniently located accommodation in North Devon Pollyannas place is ideal!

  • Pollyanna is easy to communicate and is a super host ! The apartment’s condition is same as the pictures shown and is very nice. Also Pollyanna provides us good info around the cottage. We enjoyed a lot these few nights in her cottage. Highly recommended.

Beautiful cosy wagon with private terrace, barbecue, firepit, 10 acres of beautiful fields to walk in and a hot tub to enjoy under a sky full of stars. 10 minute walk to village pub for dinner and a pint. Woodburner and electric heating to keep you cosy. Shower room, mezzanine bedroom with double bed, further double sofa bed, fully equipped kitchen area, dining area, covered verandah with seating, superfast Wifi, onsite private parking. Up to two dogs welcome.
CORONAVIRUS : Please note that our guests' safety is extremely important to us and we are disinfecting all hard surfaces in the wagon in addition to the normal cleaning regime before our guests' arrival. We use chlorine to sanitise the hot tub. This is recommended as an effective virus killer. Our smallholding is in the heart of Devon in a pretty village with lots of character. Lots of walks, lots of wildlife! 3 nature reserves and the Tarka Trail within walking distance and the sand and surf beaches of Bude and Westward Ho! easily accessible by car. We have two horses which are mostly out in the fields in summer but during wet weather and in winter stay in the stables to the rear of the wagon area. We have orchards with rare apple varieties, plums and pears which you are welcome to try in season. You can bring well behaved dogs but there are sheep in fields around so be aware.
Although tucked away from the village, the retreat is within walking distance (about 500 metres) of the village pub, which serves meals and real ales and accepts well behaved dogs. The Tarka Trail is also within walking distance. We've got Exmoor to the north, about an hour's drive away, and Dartmoor to the south, a bit closer at 30 minutes away. If you go to the top of the hill above the village, you can see both. We've got beaches all around us, from Bude to the west, Westward Ho! to the north west and Woolacombe to the north. Our favourites are Welcombe Mouth and Sandymouth Bay, both within an hou's drive. Nearest beaches are at Instow, Westward Ho!, Northam Burrows, Bude. The first three are within 40 minutes drive. Bude is an hour away. Finally, we've also got some great places to do a bit of wild swimming, Sheepwash being the nearest.
  • Had a lovely stay, all the personal touches were appreciated will definitely stay again.

  • This was our first Air bnb experience, and what a great start. Brilliant stay, it was clean, peaceful, and had everything you needed. The hot tub really finished the experience off. Everything is exactly how it's explained in the add. Gill and Will are exceptional hosts. We can't wait to visit again. 10/10 Thank you so much! Brad and Charney. (And Buddie the dog!)

  • I picked this place because its nice and quiet in the countryside. The wagon is lovely and has everything you need. Having your own private jacuzzi was just the best thing you can imagine. Sitting there at night and looking at the stars was a great relaxing experience. The hosts are very helpful as well so I'd definetely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

  • The 6 of us had a great time staying at Higher Beers with Alison. The cottage was lovely, really smart, clean and tidy and perfect for gathering with friends. Marley (dog) loved having a field to run in and Bailey as his own personal canine host/playmate. The sheep, goats and ducks were very friendly too. Alison was very welcoming and helpful, and we couldn't have asked for any more.

The Strode Family invite you to stay at Northcote Nest! Our peaceful & relaxing space in rural North Devon - ideal for getting away from the hustle & bustle of modern life! This hidden gem, nestled in the hills between Umberleigh and Chulmleigh, can be a base for exploring Dartmoor & Exmoor. Perfect for time out from busy lives to rest and recoup. Unwind in luxe Scandi accommodation. The Nest is a private space, including a shower room, a kitchen, a comfy double bed and a gorgeous sofa bed.
Enter through a private, lockable door surrounded by trellis adorned with climbing clematis and head into the kitchen space. Next to the lovely Belfast sink, and on top of the handmade unit, you'll find plenty of tea and fresh coffee, as well as locally sourced eggs, and milk in the fridge. You'll find everything you need for a self-catering stay - a portable induction hob, microwave, pots and pans, etc... The bathroom is just through the kitchen, where you can enjoy a relaxing shower with locally made luxury soap and shampoo! Head up the stairs and into the main living space and bedroom. You'll find an airy space, flooded with natural light, with an inviting sofa and super comfortable double bed. It's an ideal space for snuggling up with a good book, or getting into the right headspace for writing your next novel -no distractions...unless you want to head out for a countryside walk, visit a local pub or go for a surf at one of our many beautiful North Devon beaches. Our garden is large and gets lots of sun, and you are welcome to use the garden as you wish - there's a tyre swing, tree swing - even a badminton net if you fancy it. We have a brazier and BBQ available for you to use (you can buy a fire starter pack including natural firelighters, logs and marshmallows!) and a lovely seating area, where you can relax, look at the beautiful surroundings, and listen to the birds! We will try our best to facilitate any other requests that may be made to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Perched on the edge of the Taw Valley, and 1 mile from the Tarka Line railway (Portsmouth Arms - request stop!), the beautiful Devon countryside is truly on our doorstep, waiting for you to come and explore! We're a short walk to Northcote Manor, where there is a stunning new Spa facility. There are some fantastic pubs locally - including The New Inn at Roborough, and a few in Dolton, Torrington and other nearby villages. Great Torrington (a short drive) has an amazing history, with a lovely little museum, and is a cultural hub - make sure you visit The Plough and the 1646 cafe. Lots of sweet independent shops and a flourishing Pannier Market. There are various festivals all over the area - Sheb Fest, Pig Stock, Elevation Festival, Ocean Fest (to name a few) in the summer, Torrington Music Festival and Appledore Book Festival in September...and the North Devon Show. RHS Garden Rosemoor is easily accessible from us, which boasts stunning horticultural finds and often has great exhibitions on. (Plus the food is amazing!) Head to the beach for a Hockings ice cream and a surf at Westward Ho! or drive over to Saunton Sands for a walk and a pint at the Beachside Grill. Instow is one of our favourite spots - sand dunes and gorgeous views of Appledore.

Modern and newly refurbished in 2019/20 the annex is attached to our bungalow which is situated in a small, quiet cul de sac. It comprises: an open plan kitchen/dining room/lounge and either a super-king sized double or twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room. In the lounge there is a sofa bed suitable for an occasional guest or a child. French doors open to the garden and there are pleasant views from the living room over allotments, residential areas of Barnstaple and fields beyond.
This is a self catering flat and cereals, bread, butter, milk, marmalade, tea & coffee will be provided for breakfast. The kitchen is complete with all cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils for guests to cook meals if they wish. There is a washing machine, iron and ironing board. Spindleberry is a pretty fifteenth and sixteenth century thatched cottage in the ancient hilltown of Chulmleigh midway between Dartmoor and Exmoor. Sitting-room and dining-room each with inglenook fireplaces, one king-sized fourposter bedroom and one dual aspect twin room.
"My Dream Home" and "Home away from Home" are just two of hundreds of happy guests' comments received over the last decade. It's a very special space that will stay with you long after your visit, the perfect Devon thatched cottage, with extensive enclosed gardens providing safety for children and pets.
All our guests remark on how friendly the natives are. We have a good choice of pubs and restaurants, a butcher, baker, delicatessen, florist, convenience store, newsagent/post office and hairdresser. There are some splendid walks locally and further afield on the Tarka Trail. Both Dartmoor and Exmoor are half an hour away by car, as are some of the most beautiful North Devon beaches. Varied fly fishing opportunities are offered by the nearby Fox and Hounds Hotel on the River Taw where tuition for beginners is also available.
  • We had a lovely stay. The house and garden are beautiful with all the comforts one needs. Elizabeth was very prompt with replies and access was straightforward.

If you get the chance to stay here: snap it up as you'll be in for a treat. It's a lovely village too and we were able to get out and about quite easily, to places such as Clovelly and Tintagel.

  • Swallow view was a lovely space with everything you need for a break away. The kitchen was well stocked for meals in and the pub (even though we didn’t make it there due to Storm Dennis)! Was only 1/2 mile sway if you want to eat out. The underfloor heating was loved by our dog and us!! I would defo recommend a stay to others. The cowboy biscuits made by Lynette were great. Thanks for a lovely weekend away.

  • Peaceful location, beautiful views. Great hosts and lots of thoughtful extras, like a homemade cake and greeting card on arrival. Lynette and John made the two single beds into a double for me and my boyfriend which was really comfortable. We had a car so it was a good value base for us while exploring North devon. Lovely log fire for cosy evenings and patio/ bbq equipment for warmer days. We would recommend to friends and happily stay ourselves again.

I have a stylish Victorian Terrace in a quiet dead-end street close to the town centre. The room is next to a bathroom that is for your sole use (I have another bathroom on the ground floor through the kitchen). You are welcome to use the sitting room and kitchen. I enjoy interacting with guests but will also respect privacy when required. There is a good library with novels and children's books, plus a box of toys in the sitting room for those with children.
The street is resident's only parking. That means if you have a car you will need to drop your belonging off and then find parking elsewhere. There are options available (paid and free) within 5-10 minutes walk of the house. I provide all the things needed for a basic continental style breakfast and tea/coffee is availabel all the time.
Barnstaple is a lovely market town close to the coast where there are wonderful beaches that are particularly popular with surfers. The town has a cinema, theatre and main shopping street as well as an out own town retail centre. My favourite place for coffee is the coffe shop inside 'The Bike Shed', opposite the newly renovated museum by the river.
  • Beautiful house in an ideal location near to the town centre. Welcoming friendly host.

    Janet2020-03-03T00:00:00Z

  • Fran is a nice and warm person and a good host. Location is great close to town centre with local food outlets with in walking distance. Got some useful local tips from Fran. House is clean and tidy with a nice cozy room. Loved being there. Definitely recommend the host and the nice house..

    Oliver2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We've had a lovely stay and Fran has been the greatest host we could have asked for. The Victorian Terrace is located at 5 min. walking distance from the heart of the town. The room is big and cosy with good storage space, the bed and the shower are awsome. More than that, having breakfast every morning, having access easily in and out and Fran discreetly being there for us, made us feel like home, with a friend by our side. We highly recommend the place. Thanks, Fran.

    Adrian2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was an exceptional stay in all aspects. Fran certainly is a super host. She is a very friendly persona and walked the extra mile to offer things for our convenience. The place was very clean, nice and quiet. The room was spacious and cosy. It only took a 5 - 10 mins to walk to most of the places in the Barnstaple town, from the Fran's place. If we visit Barnstaple again, we will definitely choose Fran's please without a doubt.

    Ben2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful modern barn conversion right in the countryside near Barnstaple. Very peaceful atmosphere on a secluded farm with walks on the farm land down to the river Taw (we saw lots of pheasants, rumours of kingfishers and otters but none seen!). A lovely escape from city life. Easy access to the north Devon beaches and cliff side walks. The finish of the property is much better even than on the photos we thought - lovely modern kitchen, great underfloor heating. Cosy bedroom and sofas. All in all definitely worth coming here and Johnathan and his mother were very welcoming - we’d love to return when it’s not weeing it down all week

  • A beautiful, cosy and comfortable cottage barn conversion set in the beautiful North Devon countryside. Our hosts Johnathan and his mum Heather were very friendly and helpful. The cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch. The cottage is beautifully designed and had all the amenities we needed. The location is nicely central with good road links to everywhere we wanted to go: Barnstaple, Ilfracombe, Bude and Lynmouth. After a day's sightseeing, it was a pleasure to return to the cottage and enjoy a peaceful walk across the fields to the river. Highly recommended - 10/10.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Meadow View Cottage. Great hosts and lovely location. Greeted on arrival with scones, given lots of useful information on local area and what to do, toys provided for our little boy as well as a cot and stair gate. Cosy cottage, great kitchen, comfy beds, family friendly and a beautiful view from the garden where we spotted barn owls, herons, pheasants and rabbits. We had a fab time and didn't want to leave!

    Lauren2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding location for scenery and for lots of family days out, mostly all within an hour. Stunning barn owl often out on the evenings was amazing to see in the wild. Perfect hosts and access to all 400 acres for everyone to enjoy, they even let me fly my Paramotor from the farm. Lovely family break, will definitely be back soon.

We picked this initially because going by the photos we wanted value for money but when we got there the experience far exceeded that....... • We had a very comfortable stay and Sarah (plus her family) were extremely welcoming & sincere hosts to us and our dog Gwen. Parking was straightforward, directions accurate & check in arrangements were sympathetically flexible to our long journey. The accommodation was really groovy, clean & comfortable. We loved the sunroom. Seating was comfy, there was a huge tv and although there literally was a raging storm outside (!) the place had a sense of cosiness about it. Breakfast provisions and choices were excellent. This is a great place in which to stay!

  • Booked as a dog friendly stopover but so much more - really comfy adjoining day room with access to garden. Hosts very welcoming. Walk in shower and comfy, firm bed. Would recommend to one and all.

  • Sarah’s place is warm, comfortable and welcoming. The room has everything you need and the common room is a great place to relax. Sarah was very helpful and easy to communicate with. She suggested local places to eat or go for hikes and was fantastic in accomodating my food sensistivities.

Deer Park Dairy is a remote, stunning barn conversion set in ten acres of open farmland at the end of a long private stone farm track enjoying outstanding views across lakes, rolling countryside and the ancient Deer Park. Well socialised dogs are welcome (max 2) although I would ask that they are not allowed in bedrooms or on the furniture. Note: The track is not suitable for low ground clearance two seater sports car vehicles.
The property is on one level with each bedroom and the living area having access to the large south-facing patio. This unique property is extremely spacious and light. The bedrooms can be configured as two doubles or a double and a twin, it is possible for an extra single to be put in one room. There is a large open plan living, kitchen, dining area with both a log burning stove and underfloor heating, you will feel wonderfully warm and cosy during the winter months. Situated in a spectacular isolated, quiet and rural location, Deer Park Dairy makes the perfect getaway. The dairy is located adjacent to the owners cottage, a former seventeenth century hunting lodge.
  • We had an amazing stay. The place is beautiful with everything you need, Simon was a great host and we loved little touches like sticky toffee pudding or clotted cream in the fridge. A huge thank you!

    Veronika2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our weekend away here - the listing is very accurate, and there were lots of extra touches ready for us. The barn is beautiful with amazing views out over the surrounding area. Simon was really easy to communicate with both before and during our stay. We’d definitely recommend staying here!

    Lauren2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a superb find, so many wonderful little touches and everything you could possibly want for had been thought about and provided. A lovely, spacious and very warm place with underfloor heating, a very well stocked kitchen - felt like at home. A cosy fireplace and TV entertainment (Netflix, Prime Video etc.) was superb addition in rainy weather conditions. Simon is a great host who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Thank you for an absolutely delicious homemade Sticky Toffee pudding, freshly pressed apple juice and the best free range eggs we have ever tried! Would definitely recommend to anyone who want to stay in a very well done barn conversion in a beautiful countryside of Devon.

  • A beautifully converted barn in a beautiful part of Devon! Perfectly situated for trips to the coast and Dartmoor. Simon is an excellent host and the barn is very well equipped. We’ll be back!

  • Good local pubs, we liked the black river inn. Comfortable stay, well equipped kitchen. Great log burner, cosy sofas.

    Philippa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Simon was a perfect host - friendly, informative, welcoming, and forthcoming with homemade cider. We enjoyed a perfect little getaway at Deer Park. It's wonderfully quiet and the house has everything you need, including an incredibly well-stocked kitchen. As parents of an 8-month-old we were also pleased to find a cot, high chair, blackout blinds, bath toys and other such facilities, meaning we didn't need to bring it with us. With the log burner, beams, huge comfy sofas and peaceful location it was ideal for a cosy autumn retreat.

    Chris2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent property and hospitality

    Nick2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a week away in the barn. The place is incredible, there is everything you could wish for and more. From the amazing welcome pack including fresh apple juice & Fiona’s yummy sticky toffee pudding to the beautiful surroundings, we couldn’t have wished for a better base for exploring Devon. Simon is an incredible host and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We had a lovely holiday and will definitely be returning to this amazing place. The kids are missing the fish and of course little Coco already! Thanks again Simon :)

Our beautiful barrel top wagon is set in it's own private woodland glade with ample parking. It is light, airy and comfortable, perfect for a quiet escape with wildlife on the doorstep. It is eco friendly with a compost loo, reed bed water filtration system and cosy wood burner. Good for two couples or a family with two children. Well behaved dogs and cats are welcome. There is no TV or internet and the phone signal is sporadic. (Visitors are welcome to use host's landline in an emergency).
The wagon is a local craftsman built, beautiful wooden structure. It has a mazzanine double bed and the table folds down to provide a second double bed. It's cosy and colourful, has a good gas cooker with four rings, grill and oven, there is also a proper shower. There is a very efficient, easy to use, wood burning stove which keeps the well insulated wagon very warm and cosy in cooler weather. The compost loo is outside and is hygeinic and a pleasure to use. If you are lucky you may spot a deer in the early morning, come to graze in the open area surrounding the wagon. There is woodland and a wild field to roam in where orchids and other wild flowers bloom and wildlife abounds.
We are in a less touristy part of Devon which is very agricultural. We are in striking distance of Exmoor and Dartmoor. The Tarka trail is nearby, as well as other lovely places to walk. Okehampton has an interesting Mott and Bailey castle. Hatherleigh has a weekly produce market. Winkleigh has a good village shop, post office and two good pubs. Iddesleigh has a good pub which was where Michael Morpugo's 'Warhorse' story oginated and the warhorse museum is nearby. The RHS garden Rosemoor is just our side of Torrington. More photos of the wagon and local area available on my Instagram: julietburniston #thegladebondleigh
  • One of the best Airbnb's we have stayed in. Juliet is lovely, her little wagon is perfect. Everything was spotless, with special touches and a lovely breakfast provided. The bed was so comfortable and had a great nights sleep. Our dogs enjoyed themselves too. Will definetly be booking to stay again. Thank you so much.

    Sarah2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Cracking little wagon set in your own private area away from it all. The wood fire kept us nice and cosy on a wet & windy night, while the outside area would be great on a warm summers evening. Juliet was a great host providing plenty of added touches to make our stay easy and enjoyable.

    Steven2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place!

    Nicola2020-02-21T00:00:00Z

    Darren2020-02-17T00:00:00Z

  • This is our second visit to the wagon and it didn’t disappoint. Juliet provided a beautiful breakfast, and the wagon was cosy and very comfortable. A perfect get away

Quiet village on the edge of Exmoor close to North Devon coast
Yew Tree cottage is situated near the top of the village & is well situated to explore all that this beautiful area has to offer. The kitchen is suitably equipped for a self-catering stay & the basics of tea, coffee and cooking oils are provided & you are of course welcome to use any fresh herbs available in the garden. There is a washing machine/dryer & washing line up in the top garage- very useful for drying swimming towels (but please bring your own; towels are provided for the bathroom but they are not suitable for the beach). The front room has TV, radio, underfloor heating as well as a wood burning stove - some logs are provided. There is a charcoal BBQ to use in the garden (but please bring your own charcoal). The cottage & garden are yours to enjoy , entry is by a key safe & there is private parking for 2 cars. Only weekly bookings or longer are accepted, but there is some flexibility around checking in & out times.
There is a village shop an easy walk from the cottage for newspapers, bread , milk etc. Sadly the village pub has closed but there are several pubs within close driving distance.
  • This is an extremely well-equipped and comfortable cottage. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need during your stay. We found the cottage to be spotlessly clean. There is a selection of maps and information about the area.

    Julie2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely relaxing stay at the cottage. Kitchen was particularly useful space.

  • This is a gorgeous cottage in a lovely village. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you need. The garden is spacious and dog friendly. Our 2 dogs enjoyed the local walks and beaches. Highly recommended. Great value

  • A beautifully decorated cottage with lovely touches including tea, coffee, shampoos/shower gels etc. The garden and house had attention to detail and we're kept to a high standard. Cosy log burner was a nice touch as well as plenty of kitchen utensils. Would recommend highly. Fast replies and easy check in. Thank you for the great stay x

  • Yew Tree Cottage is really lovely and comfortable and has a very efficient log burner. It was very clean. The garden is enclosed (although our springy springer managed to get out despite the high fencing!) and really pretty with some lovely old knick knacks around and about. Loved the ‘graffiti’ on the old garage door and the vintage Gilera motorcycle. The village is very friendly and has some great walks. We spent lovely days at Saunton Sands and Woolacombe with the dogs. We also enjoyed walks on Exmoor (Rockford to Watersmeet and Hunters Inn to Heddon’s Mouth). The dogs had a lovely swim in the harbour at Ilfracombe. We had a lovely, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable time despite the weather. Recommend Rock Inn at Georgham, Rockford Inn at Rockford and Hunters Inn at Hunters Valley. Also had some fairly decent Fish and Chips from the van in the village on Friday evening. Caroline was a great host with helpful tips on where to go. Neighbours were friendly. All in all, highly recommend Yew Tree Cottage!

    Lucy2019-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning cottage on the boarder of Exmoor, everything you need at hand. Immaculately clean, great value for money, I would highly recommend

    Ben2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Yew Tree cottage is a lovely clean, well presented place to stay. All you need for a retreat away from it all in a quiet village. There's a well stocked village shop for self catering but no local eating places at this time, so need to travel out of the village to find a pub.

    Colin2019-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Caroline’s Cottage for 7 days over the sunny Easter weekend. The cottage was extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Caroline’s communication was spot on and her little personal touches made it feel very special, like a home away from home. I would definitely recommend Caroline as a host and the cottage to any one visiting Devon. I have already recommended it to friends and family and know we would love to stay again soon.

1 Double bedroom upstairs and 1 downstairs single bedroom. Beautiful original beams and round pillars. Glass sliding doors open out onto large patio and enclosed private garden. Underfloor heating throughout. Bath with shower.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Was a little escape from reality. We especially loved seeing the barn owl, deer, weasel, swans and all the other birds. Great location and very peaceful. The barn has everything you need to create a home from home feel. Recommend a trip to Exmoor Zoo!

    Eleanor2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t have asked for more. Was such a lovely place. Host was very accommodating for all our baby equipment requests! Will definitely be returning again.

    Matthew2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, good amenities and not to far to get to the coast

    Paul2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Taw Valley Cottage. Really good location close to alot of the local attractions and not far from the coast. The view from the cottage from stunning - wild flowers at the end of the garden and onto the rolling hills. Nice and quiet and lots of wildlife. The cottage had everything we needed and we had a very warm welcome and a nice cream team upon arrival.

    Frances2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • It's a lovely little cottage, looking straight out onto endless fields with lots of wildlife never too far away. It's a good base for exploring the local areas, especially the coast and Exmoor. The check in process was really easy and the scones and boiling kettle was just what we needed and a lovely little extra! We would definitely stay here again!

    Harry2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, good communication, nice touches & a lovely warm welcome. A lovely cottage in a lovely setting, great for visiting the local areas. Highly recommended.

  • We had a really lovely stay. We really appreciated the extra touches e.g. yummy scones and all the useful toddler equipment. The garden was a great space for our 2 year old to run around and she also really enjoyed going across the yard to the little play area. A great space to spend a relaxing week, thank you.

    Jenny2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • What lovely converted barn accommodation. It had everything we needed for our stay including a very welcome cream tea on arrival. Very bright, open, spotless rooms and very well located for travelling about. I wish I had tried one of the recommended walks to the river but sadly didn’t get time. Thank you Jonathan, we hope to come back soon :-)
