Places to stay in Binsar
A charmingly rustic home-stay with basic comforts expected by urban dwellers. Far from the madding crowds of the bustling cities. Lots of nature all around you. Breathtaking vistas of the Himalayan peaks. Read a book or even write one. Be charmed by the curious, twinkling eyes of the of the village kids. Try your hand at farming. Be pampered by the highly hospitable Bora family. Help them in the kitchen, if you please. Visit the Binsar zero-point to catch a glimpse of the famed view of the mountain ranges. Or walk up to the village temple to get the same view. Go on short hikes if you will. Or just chill. Our recently renovated home-stay has 4 comfortable rooms with a western toilet (probably a basic amenity for a city dweller but a luxury in a remote village!) with a skylight roof Please note that our tariff includes accommodation as well as breakfast, all meals, tea and snacks (MAP plan). Binsar sanctuary is a fantastic place for bird-watching. Our expert bird-watching and nature guides can take you on rewarding bird-watching excursions or nature walks in the forest.
  • Sunder and Idyllic team was very responsive since the beginning of our trip. To begin with the place is located within the sanctuary and it was quiet place and away from crowd. It has 360 degree view of forest reserve. It has total rustic charm. This place is ideal for solo female travellers. The rooms were nicely kept and clean, food was scrumptious, we had local kumaon food and it was mouth watering. Pandey Ji and Mahesh co host of the property were always there to help us for anything. We had an amazing stay. They guided us about the nearby forest walk or anything we would want to know. Thanks Sunder and team for being an amazing host. We would highly recommend this place to someone who care about nature and love exploring new places :)

  • Sunder and his family including his brother Mahesh are outstanding. They have surpassed my expectations in terms of hospitality. They helped my wife wherever she needed. In fact my wife was traveling alone and Sunder's family took utmost care of her. Amazing people! We will definitely visit them again. Sunder - you are a great host and so is your brother Mahesh and Pandeyji. Hats off to you all. The photos of place do not do justice. You experience the real calm and serenity when you reach this place. Sunder/Shayam and Mahesh managed my entire visit from end to end. Since my wife was travelling alone, her cabs, bus ticket and other local activities were arranged. She fell very ill the last day and they took utmost care of her just like their family member. I do not have enough kind words for Mahesh and his family. May god bless them. It is difficult to find such people these days. Place is wonderful and you get amazing home cooked food here. People traveling by public transport from Delhi: Take an Uttarakhand tourism bus leaving at 20:00 or 21:00 to Almora (NON AC only) from Anand Vihar bus station. Alternatively you can also book Uttar Pradesh Transport bus (Pink line service) from Anand Vihar to Haldwani and take a cab from there to Binsar. From Almora take a cab from taxi stand and go to Binsar KVMN TRH. There Pandeyji will come to receive you. In our case, Shyam helped us with a driver (amazing and a gentle driver). While going back, please request Shyam/Sunder to book a cab for you to go to Almora/Haldwani depending upon Uttarakhand or UP bus service booked by you. Note that UP bus service for Delhi leaves Haldwani at 23:00.

  • Going to Guanap, I had no idea what awaited me. As it turned out, it was the best decision I could have possibly made. From incredible treks through the mountains and pristine forest trails, to what I can only describe as “soul food” my Minakshi aunty, I felt welcomed from the moment I reached Sunder’s place. Every query and request was tended to immediately, while the long walks to adjacent villages was an experience unlike any other. It took little effort while trekking down the mountain to reach the village, but the trek back to the top was a little challenging, but the effort is definitely worth it. The view from the temple is mesmerising, while three adorable dogs are always at hand to give you company. Would definitely recommend going to Guanap if you are looking for a few days away from the hustle and bustle of the city life.

  • A lovely place to stay, quiet village, great food and at the heart of some of the most beautiful old forest I have come across in India, unspoilt, hardly any litter. Well worth the walk in, the very thing that keeps it so special.

  • Don't expect great mobile connection, you do not need it there. But a temple 500 metres uphill gets good coverage.

  • Great hospitality! Loved the stay at this place.

  • Experience tranquility and the opportunity to live in a remote village where children have to travel for two hours (one side) even today to reach school. Experience the joy in interacting with people who live in a village with just 9 homes and grow on their farm most of what they consume. It will take you back in time and allow you to experience the simplicity in life.

    Suyash2019-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • the hosts, Mahesh and Sunder, are brothers with a passion to solve some crucial challenges their community faces. as hosts, they are absolute magnificent, ensuring my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. they gave me many tips about local trekking, and also insights into life in the hills. I'll very much grateful for having found a family of wonderful human beings. hope to visit again soon.

  • One of the best getaways in the Kumaon. Beautiful village within the Binsar sanctuary hosted by some exceptional people. You are away from the touristy bits and within your own wild world. It takes about less than an hour to get to from the Binsar top. There are no shops so bring anything you will need. There are multiple day trips from the homestay and plenty of bird watching opportunities. The food is farm fresh and organic. The room is quite comfortable. There are two lovely dogs on the property that will keep you company. I would walk up to the temple (500 meters climb) everyday to see the sunrise and do some yoga. Nothing beats the isolation and peace of mind you get here.

    Varun2019-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed 6 nights at Sunder's place, which is managed by his younger brother, Mahesh. The place is very scenic, more than I could convey in words, and Mahesh is an excellent host. Felt more like a guest than a tourist, which I believe is the what home-stays are all about. If you just want to relax and enjoy nature and are a budget traveller, this is the place to go. The food was awesome, too. Highly Recommended!
