  • The hotel was in a great location. You could walk to everything in town. There were deer in the front lawn when we arrived. The room was large and very clean. The hosts were very helpful in suggesting restaurants.

  • Clean, cosy, comfortable, convenient! We were easily able to get to everywhere in minutes. Theodore National Park was amazing. We spent two nights and were able to spend one day in the South Unit and another in the North Unit. Doug highly recommended the one man Theodore Roosevelt show one block from the Airbnb and it was wonderful!

  • I was made to feel very welcome by Chris. He offered to cook me dinner but I had other plans so I said no. However I did take advantage of the breakfast of biscuits and gravy Chris cooked. My room was nice and the bed was comfortable. I slept well and did not hear a sound all night. I walked around the neighborhood and it's a nice quiet area. Thanks for the hospitality and the conversation Chris!

  • I only stayed a night when passing through town. It was close to the interstate had everything needed and Chris is a very nice guy. He also has a very sweet dog (Bella) I got to meet.

King Ranch is close to Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Medora, Medora Musical, Maah Daah Hey trail, great views, and restaurants and dining. King Ranch is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, bikers, birder, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets). If I end up with single nights on the calendar due to the ebb and flow of bookings, I will consider booking 1 night if you send me a message request.
If you are looking to get away from your busy life and relax this is the place for you. What makes us different from the other places in our area is you are in a totally private setting. You have your own driveway and yard secluded on our ranch so you'll get to experience the badlands like those of us who are blessed to live here. Our camper has one bedroom (queen bed) and 1 couch that folds into a double bed. It has full hooks ups. It has heat and air and was given an extreme home make over two years ago so everything is new and nice. You may have the area to yourself or at most one other camper far away from you. It is fully furnished so you just bring your personal items and food and we have the rest including an outdoor gas grill. If you bring horses we have corrals for them. Horses are an additional $10/night/horse. Horses must have a current coggins or health cert. This is a great place for hunters , hikers, birders and back country bikers. Bring your camera because the scenery is spectacular. There are 1000's of acres of public land just waiting for you to explore right out your front door. We are 5 miles from Bully Pulpit Golf Course and 8 miles from town on good roads. Visit us on facebook for more details just type in King Ranch ND
  • Great place to stay very clean and caring host would recommend staying

    Bradley2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • My mom and I had a wonderful stay in Rhonda’s RV! Beautiful property with a gorgeous view up on the hill, and the RV itself was very comfortable and clean. Couldn’t recommend it more! One thing is to make sure to get your directions down first, as there is no cellular service (or just 1 bar) and google maps likely won’t work!

    Kat2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is much more quiet and peaceful than a hotel. Out of the way? Absolutely, but that's why we loved! We will spread the word about this Airbnb.

    SandraLee2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • If you like a quiet, isolated and beautiful place, this is the place for you.

    Bonnie & Brian2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really fun, unique way to hang out in Medora. Rhonda and Jeff are amazing! They’ll give you all kinds of great suggestions for the area if you want and are a blast to chat with. Cute dog and cat on the property and lots of great wildlife and scenic views around the area. It takes about 20 minutes to get in to town with a rental car because it’s gravel roads, so it’s super close to the park and the musical but far enough to just enjoy the amazing scenery area. The RV is exactly as pictured and described, so no surprises there. Lots of good instructions on how to use things in it if you’re like us and haven’t stayed in one. My sister and I stayed here and it was plenty of room for us, but you would need to be close with your travel mate since it’s a pretty open shared space. We had a great time and can’t wait to come back!!

    Catherine2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. Traveling to Medora with a dog limited my choices. We were made to feel welcome, shown how everything worked, and got great tips on the area. The hiking and views on the property are outstanding.

    Connie2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This clean, cozy, well-kept RV was perfect for our quick trip to Medora. We loved staying out of town a ways; the views around the campsite were amazing and it was fun to hike around. Rhonda was great- she met us when we arrived and showed us the ins and outs of the RV. Would recommend for sure!

    Sonja2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay if you want to get away from "it all" for a while, and/or to see Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We did both. The scenery is beautiful, the sunset is worth the stay all by itself, and the RV is plenty for a couple. Rhonda was very welcoming and informative, and gave both great directions and then great instructions on the RV use when we arrived. Of note, she also accommodates people with horses, so worth considering if that is your cup of tea. We would definitely stay here again if the occasion arises.

  • Robin's place is the perfect location for a visit to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. It's at most a half mile to the South Unit entrance and an hour from the North Unit which is not to be missed. The house doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is everything we needed in a super clean space. We wished we could have used the grill, but weather did not permit. A/c and insulation were excellent. We needed the a/c to cool things off when we first arrived. When the temperature dropped and the rain poured for a day we were still very comfortable. Robin was helpful with local tips, especially with the upcoming rain. We did have to call her for the location of the unit, which is off a driveway we couldn't see in the dark. Excellent value and highly recommended!

    Mary2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable and centrally located. Robin's place was great for our family to use as a base to explore TRNP.

    Andrea2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Great place to visit!! Easy to find!

    Susan2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and comfortable two bedroom/1 bath house, with a great location within walking distance to town. It allowed our family more space to move around than a hotel, and the kitchen and washer/drier were pluses. It was a little hard to find in the dark (it's behind another house; not on a main street), but once we were there it was easy to navigate. I loved the locally themed artwork, lamps and other touches.

    Jessica2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • When we drove up to the Little Red House my husband raised an eyebrow because it's not that fancy on the outside, but we stepped in to a clean, comfortable, quiet home. It was a wonderful experience. We will recommend it to our friends and we'd stayed here again.

    D2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great location to TRNP. Quiet and safe location. Everything you need to cook your meals inside and out. A/C works great! Would definitely stay again.

    Mary Jo2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Robin's place. Everything was as described; the living room has been updated. On a side note, you don't pay a cleaning fee, so you are expected to do some basic cleaning (but not deep-clean) the place when you leave. If you don't clean it, there is a $150 surcharge. We did not mind to leave the place clean. The kitchen was very nice and fully equipped (better than anywhere else I had stayed!). Overall, I would definitely book this place again!

    Wiebke2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Right next to the amazing TRNP! Great views for sitting outside and sipping tea or coffee. Quiet and nice touches in the place plus it was spotless! Would definitely recommend.

  • Juanita's place was a great find! It is cute, spacious, very clean, and provided all the amenities to make it feel like home. We were pleasantly surprised to find a place to accommodate five adults so perfectly. We really enjoyed our time here cooking breakfasts together and relaxing in the comfortable living room in the evenings after being out and busy all day.

  • The weekend was phenomenal. Great memories made for our whole family. Thank you for sharing your beautiful camper so we could make some amazing memories. The experience was way beyond our hopes for the weekend. It was great to meet you both and thank you for taking the time to share your horses with our daughter. She has not stopped talking about all the animals. We hope we can return someday. Thank you.

  • Excellent location. If you want to enjoy the beauty and silence of Badlands, this is the place for you. The host is super quick to fix any minor issues.

  • The setting of King's Ranch is a symphony for the eyes! There is so much beauty in the surroundings in contrast to the nearly complete stillness that accompanies it. Out time spent immersed in the magnificence of the area led to a relaxing, reflective & refreshing time away. We could not have asked for a better place or better hosts!

    Mark2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful accommodation that is off the beaten track, and well worth it!! The views here rivaled those at Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Rhonda responds to emails quickly and is very helpful with tips, etc.

  • Spacious, clean, beautiful RV. Great scenery. Much better than staying in town. Great hiking trails with wonderful views.

    Amy2019-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the surrounding area where the RV is located and its proximity to Medora and the North Unit of the National Park. The owner is very nice to meet us and good in communication. We love the area and will come back again.

    Chinhong2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at King Ranch. The setting is beautiful, just a short walk to amazing view of Little Missouri River. It’s about 10 miles south of Medora, and you need to be very careful driving the country roads at night to avoid the numerous deer in the area. But well worth it. The large RV is very comfortable and well equipped. Would definitely stay here again if ever in the area.

    Beth2018-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at King Ranch was great! The scenery was spectacular and the setting was quiet and private. The RV was immaculate and comfortable. Rhonda provides all the essentials and we brought our own food to cook for meals. The sleeping arrangements are very comfortable as well. You cannot beat the views on their property and there's a lot of places to explore and see beautiful sunsets. We would stay there again in the future when visiting Medora.

The view from the front deck is lovely and it's quiet and peaceful. It's just a few minutes drive into Medora from the cabin. We had our dog with us. • Pictures do not do this cabin justice. It is much bigger than expected, and pleasantly clean and cared for throughout. The location is amazing - I loved going to sleep with the shades open to watch the dazzling night time sky over the rocky buttes, and then watching the deer in the grass wake as the morning sunrise cast light over them. Conveniently close to town, and Maah Daah Hey trailhead at the same time, but surrounded by wilderness to feel immersed in the Badlands. We loved our time here. Thank you!

  • This is a great place. We thoroughly enjoyed the house and our visit to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The house itself was spotless, comfortable, and provided everything we needed for our stay. Its proximity to the national park and the amenities of Medora, ND is a huge plus.

The log cabin is located in an isolated area of the North Dakota Badlands, about halfway between the North and South Units of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Rustic on the outside but modern on the inside, the cabin is decorated in traditional western decor (including extensive animal mounts). We offer the comforts of home in a setting almost too rugged to be imagined.
The cabin is located in the Theodore Roosevelt Elkhorn Ranch Historic District, directly across the Little Missouri River from Roosevelt's Elkhorn Ranch site. Despite the remote location, the cabin features all the comforts of home - and then some: wifi, satellite cable (including the NFL package), complete kitchen, washer and dryer, gas grill, and various amusements (air hockey, poker table, darts, PlayStation and Xbox). We also offer a library of works related to Theodore Roosevelt's time in the Badlands. The Historic District is substantially unchanged from the years Roosevelt spent ranching the property. Experience a moment in history and enjoy a few days of "a free and hardy life."
With the exception of our ranch caretakers, who will make your stay more comfortable, you will be alone on the Buckhorn Ranch. Much of the year you will be able to encounter white tail and mule deer, antelope, golden eagles, beaver, and other fauna native to the area. Elk and big horn sheep are also visible from time to time. Spectacular sunsets are the norm. The quaint western town of Medora, North Dakota is about a 40-minute drive south; Watford City is about the same distance to the northeast. Guests traveling from out-of-state should consider flying into the airport at Dickinson, North Dakota, before driving to the Buckhorn Ranch.
  • Loved it! Thanks to Scott for the recommendation of fording the little Missouri River to the elk horn ranch site. Beautiful spot and luxurious accommodations.

  • I would highly recommend this to hunters, fisherman, and families alike. The pictures don’t do the cabin justice and the ability to go deep into the Roosevelt park is a once in a lifetime experience. If you want to truly get away from it all this is paradise. The cabin has everything you could ask for and more. In addition the rooms are remarkably clean and beds are comfortable. The game room is perfect to keep kids occupied and fun for adults as well. Just stop at the grocery, pick up some food and beer and you will be all set!

  • This remote place is one of the "last best places" in America.

  • Wonderful cabin in a remote section of ND. Well worth the drive to this part of the “wild” West! Beautifully appointed cabin with plenty of modern amenities.

    Jackie2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our family very much enjoyed the lovely private setting in the Little Missouri River valley and the surrounding scenery. The cabin is very comfortable with excellent amenities and decor that gives it a rustic charm. Scott the caretaker (and decorator) was very helpful and responsive to our needs, providing us with detailed maps of the area. To experience the full beauty of the ranch, we recommend exploring the property on horseback or via ATV. Unfortunately, our 4x4 Ford Explorer while sufficient to get us to the ranch, was not sufficient to explore the expansive property properly.

  • Beautiful location with a cabin located near the river surrounded by buttes. Peaceful and quiet with a touch of history being located near Roosevelt’s Elkhorn Ranch site. The cabin had all the comforts of home with a gorgeous interior as well. We had a great time riding the trails and enjoying the scenery as well as seeing wild turkey, antelope and deer.

  • Absolutely gorgeous location surrounded by buttes and near the river You can sit on the deck sipping coffee and enjoy the quiet peaceful surroundings. The cabin had all the comforts of home including WiFi tv and ac The location is close to the Elkhorn Ranch site and the MaDaHey trail which was great for riding horses the river crossing was a nice safe place to take our group and the riding wasn’t too steep or challenging while following the trail but you still get to see all the beautiful views as well as deer turkeys and antelope

close to family-friendly activities, nightlife, and the city center. You’ll love my place because of The Proximity to Theodore Roosevelt National Park -Mah Da Hey Trail- Bully Pulpit Golf Course-The Historic Town Of Medora, the coziness, the high ceilings, the views, the location, the people. good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids).
You will not be disappointed, the villa is an extraordinary place to be! Rustic, charming, well appointed with modern amenities. Our location is 1/2 mile out of and overlooking the town, Little Missouri River, Chateau Demores, and the entrance to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Unencumbered by light pollution, the sky is vivid for star gazing. We are on the paved county road that goes to the Bully Pulpit golf course (2 miles away). the property is backed up to picturesque public access land, and there are no neighbors close by and many acres to roam on.
Ours is a rural neighborhood, with few neighbors and less distractions. it is easy to get lost in the surroundings, and forget about reality. the town of Medora is a quaint tourist destination, that has many offerings of dining, shopping, entertainment.etc. with many historical and cultural happenings.
  • It is difficult to depart the Villa in Medora, ND. After our second stay in a year’s time, it’s easy to say that the Villa truly is a home away from home. Situated high on a hill overlooking the tiny town of Medora, lofty views of both badlands and dark skies filled with stars are wonderful. Add privacy, peace and quiet to complete a perfect getaway location. One can sit and linger on the house's spacious wraparound porch while gazing at rolling hills and the nearby badlands of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, happily readjusting one’s attitude. Sunsets and sunrises viewed from the Villa also can be spectacular. The house is immaculate as well as comfortable. The refrigerator, freezer and kitchen in general are spotless. It is so nice to check into a rental property that is well-maintained, clean and well-provisioned. Sadly, not every rental property is as welcoming as the Villa is. A big plus is having a washer/dryer in the house instead of having to make trips to a local laundromat. A good night's sleep can be had; the master bed is very comfortable. All linens are fresh and well cared for. During our stay we experienced everything from three days of wind driven bucketing rain in high 40-degree temperatures to dry, sunny and HOT (over 90-degrees) days. Happily, the house was warm in the cold blustery rainy weather and breezy and well-ventilated in the hot weather. While available, we found we did not require the AC in torrid weather. The house cooled down very quickly at night making for 'good sleeping weather' nights. In addition to being a nice rental house to spend your holiday at, the Villa is situated conveniently close to Medora’s restaurants, shopping and entertainment plus the house is very near the exquisite Theodore Roosevelt National Park for excellent wildlife viewing and hiking trails in the park. Being so close to the national park’s entrance made dawn and late afternoon forays into the park super easy. The house is also situated in the vicinity of several Maah Daah Hey Trail access points for great hiking. Additionally the Villa is also a good place for striking out on day trips to nearby state parks and swell dinosaur museums in Dickinsen and SE Montana. Should you rent the Villa, please be aware there is no grocery store in Medora; be sure to stock up on groceries in Dickinsen, 35” away. Also, there is no cable or satellite television available so if you NEED that, it’s best to book elsewhere. Wifi is also not provided but we found using our cell phones worked well with AT&T service (depending upon how long the duration of your stay is, please be aware you might plow through your cell data about as quickly as General Sherman marched toward Atlanta). The Villa is a wonderful property! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

  • Beautiful place, inside and out. We all had a great time. The kids had a blast exploring the yard and they were so excited to see a few deer in the yard a couple of mornings during our stay. The details throughout the home were a lot of fun and I discovered a new piece of art or new decor each day I was there. It was easy check in and out and Gene was great with communication. We had such a wonderful time and hope to be back again.

    Kristin2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The photos don't do the place justice! It is beautiful inside and out. Plenty of room for 5 people, and the space feels very inviting and cozy. The location is just beautiful. It is close to town, yet far enough away for some privacy and that "getaway" feeling. We enjoyed every moment here. I Highly recommend. Gene was very quick to respond, and they accommodated some last minute changes we had. There is a little grassy section and an area with some home made swings that were relaxing. We had a fire one night, and the fire pit area is large and pretty. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and anything you may need. It was sparkling clean also.

    Terri2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Great Location! Very stylish with remarkable views! Great outdoor living space! Did not want to leave!

    Nancy2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not do the home justice. There are interesting and creative touches everywhere in the house and on the property. The location is PERFECT. Close to downtown Medora, the Musical, the riding stables and the golf course. Easy to run back and prepare lunch in the middle of the day. There are unbelievable views from every window and spot on the wrap-around deck. This is truly a special place. Amenities were great- kitchen was well stocked with attention to detail. We had a blast and were very comfortable there.

    Natalie2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly a unique home and decor. We love antiques and putting them to useful purposes. Very clever designs and execution. The views are amazing and there are plenty of spots to enjoy them on the porches or upstairs windows. It was just the two of us so there certainly was lots of room - we used the small twin bedroom downstairs as our luggage and clothes headquarters. The kitchen has everything including amazing views. Thanks Mel and Gene- you have created a great destination!

    Susan2019-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a treat to stay at the Villa! Gene met us when we arrived and showed us around the space. He has put incredible time and effort into the many special touches around the house and repurposed items. There is an outdoor fire pit and grill available for guest use. The location is ideal for exploring Medora and the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We enjoyed the view looking over the town and the many wildlife visitors we had during our stay. The house had all the amenities needed for making our own meals when we wanted. You will need to plan ahead if you plan to make a lot of your own meals. The convenience store in town is very limited; grocery options are at least 25-35 min away. If you are looking for a place near Medora, you wind find a nicer place or better hosts.

  • Amazing amazing amazing! I’ve stayed in many places using AirBnB and this one is truly special! The perfect place to experience the beauty of the Badlands!

  • Great place to stay in Medora. Our 3 boys loved the loft (ages 10,8, and 5)

    Scott2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Maltese Ranch cabin in Medora. The cabin made you feel like you were back in Teddy Roosevelt's time. Even though we didn't need to use them, the host provided many amenities, like coffee, shampoo, spices, plastic wrap, etc. The cabin was within walking distance of town which was very nice. We arrived early and texted the owner to see if we could get in early and he replied promptly that we could, which was great. The only potential drawback I see is the steep ladder to the loft. I think it would be super fun for grade school aged kids, but might be a little rough if traveling with very young children.
