Fabulous views over the sea to Laphroaig distillery. Skandi design with serious luxury for one couple to escape to Isle of Islay tranquility (the Queen of the Hebrides). Frequent visitors are Golden Eagles and Hen Harriers. Come and relax in style.

The space

Nestled in to the hillside this architect designed accommodation has expansive views across to Kilnaughton Bay, Port Ellen, mainland Argyll and Ireland. The views are a constant source of pleasure always changing as the light and weather change. Attention to comfort is paramount with cosy underfloor heating, goose down duvet and wood burning stove so that even in the worst of weather it’s possible to snuggle down! In glorious weather the doors can be left wide open with an outdoor table for barbecuing and eating Al Fresco. In the kitchen top of the range Miele oven, induction hob and Tapenyaki mean that all Islay’s wonderful larder can be cooked with delicacy and precision. We want your Islay experience to live long in the memory so we have tried to think of everything!

Guest access

The space is all yours with parking and easy access to the accommodation.

Interaction with guests

We will be on hand most of the time to help in any way you need.

Really nice space and very well appointed, but that's not the best thing about your stay. That is the constantly changing view from the panoramic windows. There may be a TV with satellite and Netflix, but in our three night stay we remained eyes fixed to the enchanting view from the windows.. Even better to have battened down the hatches and seen off former hurricane Ophelia during our stay. Would strongly recommend staying here, and the finishing touches (fresh home made bread!) were really appreciated.

We have found heaven and it is located in Islay. Richard is an incredible host, he found us when we got a bit lost, helped us build a fire, and left us with the most amazing fresh baked bread I have ever had. Tigh Na Uiseag is amazing, and if you are headed to Islay this is where you want to stay.

This is truly a magical place, the house is incredible and luxurious with a vast panoramic view of the sea, Port Ellen, and Laphroaig distillery. We only stayed a couple of nights but felt like we had been there a week it was so relaxing. Richard and his wife are charming and very welcoming, we will struggle not to return here! There is everything you will ever need in the house, and it is finished to a very high quality. It is situated on top of the cliffs which you will see from the photos, some steep hills but if you do take your bikes you can do the distillery cycle path to Ardbeg, Lagavulin, and Laphroaig... we managed it but had to walk the bikes back up the hill! If you are interested in birds there are hundreds on the island and around the house, it’s lovely to relax with the view and a glass of wine (or two..) and watch the sea until the sun goes down.

This place is absolute perfection. It is the ideal place to relax after a day of sightseeing and exploring Islay. The view and space is even more beautiful than in the pictures. Even when the weather is bad and you don't have the spectacular view, it is so cozy you want to just stay in by the fire. Richard (and Gus!) are very hospitable and we were grateful for the breakfast fixings they provided us. The fresh baked bread and homemade marmalade were delicious! Richard was also more than happy to answer any questions I had prior to arrival and provided a bunch of helpful information about the island. We stayed for three nights and truly hope to return someday, soon!

If you are looking for the most amazing and beautiful view in all of Islay (and possibly the world), this is the place for you! Richard was the most amazing host. I asked a million questions leading up to the trip, and he was unfailingly kind and generous at all times. We've stayed in several luxury hotels and this location left them all behind. He's thought of everything! Everything was better than could be imagined. I'm already dreaming of coming back and you will be too!
