About this listing

Fabulous views over the sea to Laphroaig distillery. Skandi design with serious luxury for one couple to escape to Isle of Islay tranquility (the Queen of the Hebrides). Frequent visitors are Golden Eagles and Hen Harriers. Come and relax in style.

The space

Nestled in to the hillside this architect designed accommodation has expansive views across to Kilnaughton Bay, Port Ellen, mainland Argyll and Ireland. The views are a constant source of pleasure always changing as the light and weather change. Attention to comfort is paramount with cosy underfloor heating, goose down duvet and wood burning stove so that even in the worst of weather it’s possible to snuggle down! In glorious weather the doors can be left wide open with an outdoor table for barbecuing and eating Al Fresco. In the kitchen top of the range Miele oven, induction hob and Tapenyaki mean that all Islay’s wonderful larder can be cooked with delicacy and precision. We want your Islay experience to live long in the memory so we have tried to think of everything!

What an amazing property! It is very secluded and the beauty is almost beyond belief. The house is well equipped with everything you will need. If you want to really enjoy the beauty of Islay this is definitely the place to stay. Thank you, Richard!

This place almost makes you wish for bad weather, so you have an excuse to stay in, light a fire, read a book, or just stare out the window. Richard's hospitality is superb--we were met by him, a stack of information about the house and the area, a nicely stocked fridge, and even fresh fruit and fresh baked bread. We wish we could have stayed longer, and hope to be back!

Tigh Na Uiseag is as perfect and beautiful as the natural surroundings. Richard's hospitality is above and beyond. The space is so intentionally designed and with wonderful kitchen equipment and books! We had a blast exploring Islay and recommend this space to anyone looking for a relaxing and scenic stay.

A stunning location, unique building, very well appointed accommodation, friendly and welcoming hosts. The directions supplied were clear, the last part of the journey requires a little patience but that is rewarded on arrival. The photos don't do justice to the setting and building. The kitchen is very well equipped and we were supplied with bread, milk, eggs, cereal etc fro breakfast. Although the lights of Pert Ellen shine across the bay the night sky is wonderfully dark overhead.

The views are stunning. It's the best self-catering place we've ever stayed in. Absolutely everything included. A 4x4 would be handy for the access road.

This place is absolutely heaven on earth. Richard's attention to detail really makes staying here an oasis. My husband and I fell in love with Islay and plan on staying at Richards place again in the future. Just stunning!!!
