Description

The space

Nestled in to the hillside this architect designed accommodation has expansive views across to Kilnaughton Bay, Port Ellen, mainland Argyll and Ireland. The views are a constant source of pleasure always changing as the light and weather change. Attention to comfort is paramount with cosy underfloor heating, goose down duvet and wood burning stove so that even in the worst of weather it’s possible to snuggle down! In glorious weather the doors can be left wide open with an outdoor table for barbecuing and eating Al Fresco. In the kitchen top of the range Miele oven, induction hob and Tapenyaki mean that all Islay’s wonderful larder can be cooked with delicacy and precision. We want your Islay experience to live long in the memory so we have tried to think of everything!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tigh Na Uiseag. Richard and Sue were perfect hosts, from the warm welcome and homemade bread down to the impeccable finish and furnishing of the lodge. We loved the stunning views over Port Ellen and the bay, walks down to the nearby lighthouse and beach and looking at the boats through the telescope. We would highly recommend the lodge to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat in a high quality setting.

We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The location is wonderful, the photos don't do the views justice, and Richard was a great host. I'm sure we'll be back again!

The turf-roofed cottage was what the Dr. ordered, especially as I arrived under the weather. Every tiny detail about this little gem is perfect, lovely, beautiful. I can't say enough about the dwelling, the setting, and Richard. If you ever get the chance, stay here! Your expectations will be exceeded!

A fabulous lodge to get away from it all & explore the island. Located in a beautiful spot with incredible views, this place is a little bit of luxury on Islay. The details Richard has in place make it the perfect home from home & he couldn't make you feel more welcome. I highly recommend a stay at Tigh Na Uiseag.

This place is fantastic. The planning was made easy by Richard, the welcome was warm, and the facilities are impossible to improve. We loved our three nights here - watching the sun rise and set over the sea from the panoramic windows. Walking was great; 1hr45 to Ardbeg for a coffee and then 20mins back to Lagavulin and another 20 to Laphroig. It's about 45 mins to Port Ellen where there is a Co-op and the Islay Hotel. It's a lovely walk across the bays and up the steep hill to the warm fire - burning peat was a treat! Lots of books and maps available - really helpful to plan days out. Islay is a step back in time and a place to recharge the batteries. The people are lovely - so friendly and welcoming. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
