Interaction with guests
We are available for you on email and by phone at any time during your stay. We work in the tourism industry and are happy to assist you with any information, tips & trips and other recommendations.
Other things to note
We provide electronic entry to the property, so you don't need to worry about picking up a key or arriving at a particular time. Shortly before your arrival we will email / SMS you a door code with which you can access the property during your stay. The entry code registers the time you first access the house and resets on your departure day. Please ensure you let us know in advance if you would like to stay longer, so we can ensure you are not locked out.
Please put out the wheelie bins on Sunday night for collection on Monday morning early. Simply put them next to the lamp post. Thank you!
We have an information guide available for all house information. We welcome your feedback and suggestions.
To keep the price down we ask you bring your own linen (bed sheets, doona covers, pillow cases) and towels. All the beds have doona's ( 1 Queens, 3 singles), mattress protectors and plenty of pillows. For chilly nights there are extra woolen blankets. In the master bedroom these are located in the cupboard in the second bedroom on a open shelf over the door. A tea towel is available. Upon departing we ask you leave the house as you found it, restock the wood storage in the house from the wood pile outside and ensure kindling is available. Put bagged rubbish in the bin outside. Council rubbish collection is on Monday mornings (early). If leaving on a Sunday or Monday please put the rubbish bins kerbside on Sunday night at the latest. You can leave any unwanted newspapers in the box next to the wood stove. For safety reason we ask you to put the lighter/matches and left over fire starters in the box provided in the pantry cupboard, so little fingers can not play with them.
For our little guests we have a high chair and portacot with change table on top. Please leave these in a clean condition for the next guests with little children so we can keep offering these items to our guests. When using the shower for kids, please turn on cold water, before warm water.
Thank you for not smoking inside and for disposing of cigarette butts in the ashtray provided outside. Do not dispose of them on the decking itself as ash may fall through and start a fire under the decking.
Please clean the barbecue plus fire pit hotplate and frying pan after use for the next guests.
Since we do not charge a cleaning fee, we would appreciate it if you could leave the house in a clean and organised manner, as a courtesy to us as well as to the next guests. In the unlikely event that there is anything not working or missing, please contact us on one of the numbers provided during your stay to enable us to rectify the situation.
We are a family of five, my partner René, myself and three teenagers.
We built Habitus House in Marysville as an Escape from the city and because we love the great outdoors, particularly hiking, swimming, mountain biking and skiing. Marysville offers all this in one beautiful location. The house has a small footprint, but is large in size, with high ceilings and a large open plan living and outdoor entertainment deck with barbecue. We have used mega anchors as stumps to ensure limited disturbance of the earth and major tree roots. A water tank under the house supplies all water with town water as backup. We also used honest materials such as recycled wood, cotton, linen and steel where possible. Many creative friends contributed to decorations, Rene made the tables and benches and soft furnishings were made by myself. The kids built the outdoor fire pit and the swivel hot plate. We try to get to Marysville as often as we can, but have noticed that our kids have more and more commitments in the city (sport, music, friends, projects, work). We think it is a shame for our cosy, comfortable house to stand empty and thought we would enable others to enjoy it when we are not able to ourselves.
Love, live, laugh & do the right thing is our motto.
Hope you share this with us.
We look forward to welcoming you to your Marysville Escape!
