Mid-century style and handmade crafts from both sides of the border abound in our one-of-a-kind 500SF studio. With a backyard oasis, neighboring art gallery, and sweet location 1.5 miles from downtown, our "1-room hotel" is the place to stay.
PLEASE NOTE: We live in an urban neighborhood and with that comes some urban noise. We have provided a white noise machine and ear plugs for our guests. However if you are a light sleeper or noise sensitive, our space might not be for you.
We are a bit obsessed with hospitality! We will do almost anything to make your stay the best it can be.
Perks of staying at our studio:
- First beer is on us. Enjoy a cold one from Cerveceria Insurgente out of our "mini-bar".
- Bicycles! There is one hanging in the room, but we have more. Let us know how many you need and we'll provide helmets and locks.
- King-sized Casper mattress.
- Streaming Netflix and Hulu on the 55" Samsung TV.
- Fast wifi and a BUMPING sound system (easy audio cord plug-in).
- Backyard bocce set.
- Yoga mats.
- We can provide a kick-ass beach kit upon request (towels, umbrellas, chairs & cooler).
-Conveniently located across the street from Cafe Moto, one of San Diego's original coffee roasters.
Guests have access to all of the large backyard in addition to the apartment.
**Please note that the backyard is a SHARED space. Our headquarters are located next door and from time to time, you may see some of our employees (there are only about 3-5 of us around at a time, we work average office hours 7am-7pm M-F) walking around. The shipping containers are not available to guests as they are our conference room and storage space. Guests are welcome to use the cabana lounge, lower patio, turf areas for bocci ball and/or hanging out but please be aware that there could be others utilizing the space during the week**
Interaction with guests
We love to chat, but only on your terms. If you want to know about the area and need a good recommendation for something to do-we would love to share! On the other hand the studio is spaced out so that if you're feeling more low key, that's great too. We can keep our distance. Just know we're here when you need us!
Other things to note
**One Bunk is not located in a shipping container**
Please note that although we don't have parking on property, there is typically free parking available along National Avenue.
For those of you with young children, we do have a pack and play available upon request!
Climbing on top of the containers IS NOT permitted.
We require a 2 night minimum stay!
We value our art and hope you will too! Please respect the work as the majority of it consists of our favorite handmade and vintage finds. No pets, smoking, or parties. If you have young children, please let us know and we will be happy to remove any breakable items! In order to conserve energy we ask that when you are gone for an extended period of time, that you please turn the lights and A/C off in the room. Outside guests must have ownership approval. Quiet time is between 9pm-9am. Finally, the old camp stove/fire pit is for looking not touching!
We want our guests to be safe so last but not least, there is NO CLIMBING on top of the containers throughout your stay!
