Our goal is for guests to feel the life and history of old times when
they live in Grandpa's Warehouse.

We also want to show natural methods from the past such as food storage outdoors in a wooden box during the winter and fetch spring water from the well in the yard.

The water is used as drinking water, to wash your body in and to wash your body in the sauna.
You crank up the water yourself in buckets as you need. There is also drinking water in containers inside the cabin.

INTERIOR and FURNITURE
The log cabin has a living area of 24 m2 and includes a cozy sleeping loft with a small window and views of the courtyard.
Birds and deer are fed just outside the window during winter, so guests can study wildlife very close by.

The cottage is furnished with genuine old furniture, utility items and second-hand that together reflect the important reuse.
The old dynamite box has become a nice little table and the grocery counter from the old shop in the village is now used as a kitchen counter.

3 BEDS
Downstairs the antique kitchen sofa can be made into a bed.
A step ladder leads you up to the sleeping loft. There are two beds that easily can be put together to a double bed.
Duvet, pillow, bed linen and towel are included in the price.

KITCHEN and COOKING
The kitchen is simple but fully equipped and you cook on a stove with two plates and oven.

There is a fridge with small freezer compartment which is used during the summer. In winter we use the natural cold and store food in a wooden box outside the cottage.

The dishwater is heated in a boiler on the cast iron stove or taken from the sauna water heater. You wash in old-fashioned zinc basins and then pour out the dishwater in the designated place outside the cottage.

WOOD-FIRED SAUNA
There is a wood-fired sauna in a cozy timber building near the cottage for washing the body. Hot water is heated in a water container located on the stovepipe.
The hot water is mixed with cold water in washing bowls to perfect temperature for washing.
And the creek is a short distance away for those who want to cool down properly!

The log cabin is kept warm by a wood-fired cast iron stove. The wood is collected in the woodshed just behind the cabin. There you'll find firewood, axe and chopping block.
If necessary the green oil element can be used. Pull it out to the middle of the floor and the heat will spread best.
This oil element can get very hot and must be turned off when you are out on adventure.

SORTING AT SOURCE of WASTE and NATURAL MATERIALS
Waste is sorted at source and catering waste is recycled to the plantations. There are small sorting vessels inside the cabin.
These can be emptied into collection bags in the woodshed. The plastic bags we use are biodegradable.

We try to use recycled material as much as possible.
Dish brushes, dishcloths and eco-friendly cleaners are obvious choices.
Paint on furniture, walls and floors is lime paint and linseed oil paint.
Here, we gratefully accept eco-friendly tips from guests!

WIFI
There is a portable router that you can rent.
Please let me know when booking and I will order the required GB for your arrival. The price depends on how much GB you want.

SMALL CULTIVATION
In the summer we grow vegetables, beans and berries on a small scale on the farm.
Here, guests can be involved in small chores around cultivation, such as irrigation, if they wish.
When it comes to harvesting, it may be possible to buy both berries and elk meat.

WILDLIFE at the COTTAGE
In winter we feed deer and small birds so they survive the long winter.
We have the dining area just outside the window of the log cabin, so guests really get close to the wild animals.
The squirrels are funny little animals that also want to eat, and they have their nests in piles around the cottage.
In the summertime the beautiful swallows build their nests in the woodshed.

HISTORY of GRANDFATHER'S WAREHOUSE and Götes COTTAGE
There are two nice accommodations for rent; Götes Stuga and Grandfather's Magasin.
The house that I live in built my grandfather during the 1930s and in the warehouse he kept his hunting and fishing equipment and other important things that belonged to life and everyday life in the past.
The magazine has also long since been used as a simple overnight stay.
Just as you have the opportunity now.

Gote's cottage was my uncle's cottage that he built together with his wife Greta. He was a true pioneer and installed a photovoltaic installation in the cottage as early as the early 1980s, when few people had even heard of photovoltaic energy.
He lived for fishing, berry picking and moose hunting. Greta cooked jam and cooked good dishes on the moose meat and berries.

Where you’ll be

Gällivare S, Norrbottens län, Sweden

The log cabin is located a short distance from the small creek Venetjoki. Here you can both swim and fish.

Right behind the log cabin is the forest with both lush spruce forest and flowering meadows.
Here you will find nice places to sit down to look out over the countryside.

During the summer, there is a Summer café very close by, with homemade coffee bread and close contact with the village population.
There is also a small byacafe in Byastugan which also has a corner with flea market finds.

Great opportunities for hiking on nearby trails and cross country running after several training tracks. There are also great little mountain biking routes that will take you far into the wilderness.
And in winter, the area is perfect for skiing and snowshoeing!

Saiti Lakes 4 km from Nattavaara gives you exciting sport fishing with grayling, trout and rainbow trout.
Fishing licenses are solved online or at Handlarn.

More information can be found in my Guidebook and in the information about Götes cottage.

During your stay

We live in the house 50 meters from Grandfather's Magazine and are available in the way you want.
You can text or knock on our door. Whatever your preference works well for us.

Although you live very close to our house, we respect your desire for privacy and privacy.
The car can be parked close to the cottage. During the winter, the car is parked at our property at the designated location.

We try to live close to nature and settle partly on berry picking, fishing and hunting. There is also a small growing of potatoes, beans and vegetables on the farm.

The goal of Tiny Timber is to step away from modern, fast-paced everyday life and find peace.
Making a fire in the fireplace or warming up the wood-fired sauna for body washing gives a special feeling in your body.

We also want to spread inspiration to a life in a circle, with recycling, farming, and self-catering. Natural building materials and toxic free paint, composting household waste, and recycling of furniture.
