Welcome to DTJT (Downtown Joshua Tree) your much needed High Desert escape. Our newly renovated homestead cabins rest on five acres of magical landscape.

At DTJT you can hike, hang, rekindle, read, stay up, sleep in, stargaze, explore, roast marshmallows, namaste it up, dance it off, soak up the sun, howl at the moon, feed the road runner, listen to the owl, take an outdoor shower, crush your partner at corn-hole, and dip in the cowboy tub. And yes, we have Wifi.

The space
We have created a getaway for people to enjoy some quality time alone or together and relax, feel at home inside & outside of the space, in the sun and under the epic starry sky.

DTJT House 2 offers a lovely king size bed, full kitchen with eating area, comfy couch and a private bathroom.

The kitchen has essential cookware and utensils, a french press, water boiler, stove, oven, microwave, fridge, Brita water pitcher, along with coffee from Joshua Tree Coffee Co, tea, oatmeal, olive oil and basic seasonings.

In addition to the shower and bath in your cabin. There's also a communal, but private outdoor shower that all guests have access to day and night.

The indoor fireplace is not operational, but there are heaters to keep you plenty warm. However the outdoor fireplace is, just be sure to bring your own wood. The bed also heats. It's pretty awesome.

We do not allow pets of any kind. We love animals but this isn’t the place for them.

If you’re looking for a one night stay, please send a message and depending on schedule, we can make it happen.

There is a second cabin on the property, so if you're coming with another couple or person and want separate space check out DTJT 1.

Guest access
We do have two spaces on our property available to rent and all guests will have access to their own private cabin, bathroom, kitchen, wifi, living quarters and of course the outdoor shower, fireplace (please bring your own wood), bbq, “the grassy knoll”/ deck and lots of acreage to roam around.

Please be respectful of each other’s privacy. You do not have access to the other cabin, unless invited by the other guest(s).

You do not have access to the main/front house. This includes the fire pit, porch or surrounding areas/parking. There are cameras. Please respect the owner's privacy.

Joshua Tree, California, United States

We're 1 mile from town and town is pretty great. Farmer's market, cool shops, great food, strong coffee and cold beers.

Even though you can see the twinkle of the lights in the distance if you look due south, you'll feel totally off the grid at DTJT. We have 180 degree views of pure, gorgeous desert.

We're 6 miles from Joshua Tree National Park's entrance. It's a must. It's life changing. For real. We have books and maps in the cabin if you want to read up about various hikes or sites.

We're 10 miles from the super popular Pioneertown.

THE WILD LIFE:
Oh we got it!

Bunnies: Drive slow at night! Jackrabbits and cottontails will dart in front of your car. You’re going to feel so badly if you hit one.

Snakes – eeeeveryone wants to know. I’ve never seen one. The previous owner saw a few gophers which aren’t poisonous. He never saw a rattler. Snakes are wary of people and avoid us. They’re the original quarantiners.

Coyotes – They’re around. All the time. You’ll hear them at dusk. Don’t feed them or interact with them. Seriously. If you did happen to bring a pet, DO NOT leave the doors open. You won’t have a pet in the morning.

We have an exterminator come regularly, but in the off chance you see something…here’s what we have.

Ants – we’ve been through this. Don’t eat cookies in bed. Don’t pour honey over each other in bed. Put your food away. Wash your plates. Clean off crumbs. They’re everywhere. It’s an ant apocalypse in the desert.

Scorpions – My phobia! I don’t even know what to tell you other than, they’re gross and creepy and creepy and gross and they’re under rocks so don’t be looking under rocks.

Black widow spiders – They’re black with a red hourglass. I know some of you want to preserve every life, but if you see one, kill it in the most loving way (whatever that is). It’s us vs. them and they bite, and it’s not pleasant.

In the summer around sunset you might see bats.

Keep your eye out for our resident roadrunner (meep meep!) and keep your ears open for our great horned owl. It’s not your partner snoring.

Respect our plants and animals and neighbors. And have the best time!

BE SMART
- Please make certain that if you have a fire, that the fire is fully extinguished before you leave or fall asleep.
- An outdoor fireplace is also provided, please do not leave the fire unattended.
- Bring flip flops for the short walk to and from the shower.
