The history of the HAZARD House:

It is first and foremost a family farm, which according to history, was the refuge of Jean de La Fontaine in the 17th century, where he wrote one of his famous fables "Le Coche et La Mouche".

On one of the stones of the farm, it is engraved "1760", the date since which the HAZARD family resides at 5 Place Gaucher in Châtillon-sur-Marne. A family of breeders, farmers and grain producers, devoted to their property from generation to generation, they have been able to perpetuate their know-how and their love of the land, animals and the environment. In 1970, the family began planting vines on its agricultural land, which was then classified as Champagne. In 1986, the children and grandchildren, Philippe and Frédéric, took over the family land and continued what the parents and grandparents had started. A few years later, the brothers then began marketing their Champagne, named "Champagne PAUL HAZARD", in tribute to their grandfather, who died in 1992. In 2018, the two brothers decided to restore the old family home in order to make the Gite du Champagne Paul Hazard. A family gite tinged with a beautiful history and where tradition has been perpetuated from generation to generation.

Neighbourhood highlights

The Maison HAZARD located in the heart of the wine village of Chatillon-sur-Marne is above all a family farm, which according to history was the refuge of Jean de La Fontaine in the 17 th century, where he wrote one of his famous fables "Le Coche et La Mouche".

On one of the Stones of the farm, it is engraved "1760", date since which THE HAZARD family resides at 5 place Gaucher in Châtillon-sur-Marne. A family of ranchers, farmers and grain farmers, dedicated to her property from generation to generation, she has been able to perpetuate her know-how and her love of the land, animals and the environment.

In 1970, the family began planting vines on their farmland, which had become a Champagne appellation. In 1986, the children and grandchildren, Philippe and Frédéric, recovered the family land and continued what the parents and grandparents had begun. But the 1990 crisis, with the ban on planting on the Champagne coast for a period of 10 years, prevented the development of the winery.

That's why it's hardly since 2008 that the brothers started marketing their Champagne, named "Champagne PAUL HAZARD", in tribute to their grandfather, who died in 1992.

After 5 years of hard work, to multiply the wine fairs throughout France and Belgium, the Augustinee brand was born, it is none other than the contraction of the first names of their respective children, to meet a growing demand on exports.
