Villa Bankhoy sits on its own small peninsula, at the confluence of two rivers: the majestic Mekong and the small, charming Nam Dong.

A French-Lao Colonial house, surrounded by a landscaped garden, private pool and incredible river views.

The space

Villa Bankhoy features 3 large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a living room and wrap around terraces.

The kitchen is fully equipped and the local market is a short bike ride away.

The basement opens on the pool and garden, and features a yoga room as well as a TV room that can easily be converted into an additional bedroom for 2~4 extra people, taking occupancy to 8 as per listing details (or even 10 on request).

Household staff is in daily for breakfast and housekeeping. A caretaker then takes over and is on site for the night shift.

Guest access

Private 20m infinity swimming pool parallel to the Mekong river
Sun loungers & landscaped garden
TV room with extra beds, taking house occupancy to 8 people, with an extra 50 USD per person per night above first 4.
Complimentary breakfasts, daily housekeeping, basic laundry, bicycles, airport transfers and local mobile phone.

Interaction with guests

This is my holiday home. I will likely not be around, the property is managed by a friend who heads the Mekong Estate.

Other things to note

Before sending a booking request, please note that the house was not designed with young children in mind. The property opens on the Mekong and the infinity pool is not secured by a fence. Young children will require constant supervision, as in most places that are unfamiliar to them or their parents.

The house is at the end of a small road that goes through lively* Ban Khoy Village. Please be considerate and act as a guest that is respectful of local customs.

* You may be able to hear the occasional rooster crowing. A nearby monastery may also hold religious ceremonies that involve chanting and drumming (that only happens once or twice a year, though).

we had a wonderful week in the house. A mix of sightseeing and lazing by the pool, enjoying the amazing view. Eric's local team made us very welcome and really looked after us. Would definitely recommend.

My friends and I had a most enjoyable stay at Villa Bankhoy! We were so well looked after by all the staff who cooked amazing breakfasts, kept the place immaculately clean and looked after all our needs. As a party of 9 adults arriving and departing on several different flights, Mr Vatthana was particularly helpful in arranging airport transfers for us all. I would highly recommend staying in this beautiful villa with its luxurious feel, its amazing views over the Mekong river and in close proximity to the charming town of Luang Prabang. Thank you to Eric and the team!

We traveled for the first time to Laos with my parents, my husband and our two daughters aged 8 and 5 and our stay at Villa Bankhoy was simply one of the highlights of our trip. The house is gorgeous, very large and tastefully decorated in a colonial style. It is located in the perfect setting, with a breathtaking view on the Mekong river, close to town (approx 10 mn by tuk tuk) but far enough so that you can benefit from quiet surroundings. We were impressed with the size of the pool and its location was very well chosen as it is overlooking the river. The villa is fully equipped and very well managed and we had everyday outstanding support from Mr Vatthana or Toey who helped us with excursions, key sightseeings, restaurant booking and even shopping advice. There were also two ladies who took care of the house, keeping it perfectly clean, and prepared delicious breakfasts. Everyone was very nice to deal with. The WiFi network worked very well even if we did our best to take a break from Internet and emails...Last but not least, Eric is a wonderful host, extremely helpful and considerate and it was great to interact with him before and during the trip. We highly recommend Villa Bankhoy to anyone, it's an unforgettable experience, and we hope to return soon.

The villa was a perfect match for us as a family. We were 3 adults and 3 kids (1.5-5 year old). The villa has everything you need - a delicious breakfast is served daily which we all loved including our little one. The rooms are big, aircon running well and the beds are very good quality. Also for our toddler we had a very good baby cot and for every bed a mosquito net. The villa is very good organized, the management very professional and helpful - they came almost daily to see if we need further assistance for doing things in laos or if we needed something else for the house. The place is located 3km from the main restaurant/bar/shopping street and ver easy to reach with a tuktuk. What i loved is the scenery you get sitting on the veranda in the villa - enjoy the tranquility, see the sunrise and sunset every day - relax but also very close to the town. We also had a yoga teacher coming and we did some yoga next to the pool - it was a unique and awesome experience. one thing we didn t like too much was that near the villa is probably a restaurant/bar which starts to play music around 4pm until 10-11pm. We didn t mind at all but sometimes it was a bit annoying, especially one night they were playing music until 3am... but still, the kids slept very well and we enjoyed the villa a lot and had a beautiful stay. We can highly recommend that place!

The absolute best!! We are a family of 5 traveling the world for a year and have stayed in all sorts of Airbnb's. This is the real deal. From the staff to the views and the pool. Pure luxury. Everything was perfection. The views were intoxicating, making it hard to tear ourselves away. The breakfast was delicious and the table was set for a king. The beds were so comfortable and the house was spotless. It doesn't get better than this. Communication from the beginning to the end was top notch. Catching a tuk tuk to town is easy, the short walk to the main road was both entertaining and easy. We enjoyed each ride and it was a highlight for the kids. Don't miss the rice experience or a boat ride to and from the waterfalls. Thank you for such a wonderful experience in such a magical environment.

Villa Bankhoy not only has the most helpful and friendly manager and staff but is located on a corner of the Mekong which allows views of wonderful sunsets and river life. 12-15 mins from the wonderful Luang Prabang main streets and restaurants, it is situated just far enough away to allow few disturbances apart from local Laotian life and monks prayers and ceremonies. Eric is a fantastic host and very communicative. We had a Wonderful stay.
