The Mountain RiverValley View Longhouse-Ramana1 was originally simply the Leopard Longhouse . Built into the mountain and rock contours, it is built of local slate and local carved timber scavenged from broken down village houses. Of limestone It is cool in summer, warm in winter and does'nt necessitate airconditioning for most of the year. It is designed to give as much space in limited mountain scape to the visitor, in a redefinition of luxury.

The space
Ramana1 The Mountain RiverValley View Longhouse is an eccentric building which reflects the personality of the local conditioning. It has a commanding view of the rivermountain scape before one and a handhewn stone stairway takes one down to the orchard, beach and river and cliff fronts.

Neighbourhood highlights

We are part of the village of Singtali and have a unique vantage point of being right on the riverfront. This site has been preserved carefully over the years and the natural beauty has not been compromised with high rise construction. Instead it has been enhanced. There is small game and wonderful birdlife in the forest groves. In the warm months april-september when visitation is low, some caution with regards to wild animals is warranted and staff will help you in observing them safely

Lives in India
I have been an army brat, born and bred in the north east of India. I took up a career in adventure, inspired by the soldiers of the Assam Rifles with whom I rubbed shoulders as a schoolboy, travelling in armed convoys in Nagaland, Arunachal (then NEFA) Manipur and Assam. As an adult I trained the forward formations of the Indian army and the first river guides of Arunachal and Sikkim, in rafting and studied biodiversity conservation and won the BioDiversity Conservation Award WashDC and Environmental Fellowship Award from the Asia Foundation San Fransisco for my work in the Eastern Himalaya. I, along with my father who served with the Assam Rifles and infact played a role in the flight of the Dalai Lama into India, later led the first tribal anthropology expeditions for foreign tourists in the north east. A student of history and geography including the military history of the himalaya, I have also conducted journeys near the Stilwell Road, Mandalay to Imphal, sent the first western tourist in modern times to the Damshung Horse Festival Tibet, taken German groups into the North West Frontier, India's Ladakh and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Orissa, Central India for the tribes as well as in Africa and South America, North America. I love to share my experiences as travel is a tremendous teacher
