This vintage cabin is situated on 40 acres, with almost a mile of the middle fork of the National Wild and Scenic Feather River winding through the property. Come and experience the peaceful and nostalgic ambiance; truly a taste of a bygone era! Put away that smart phone, computer, and electronic devices - take a step back to the 1920's and unplug!

The space
This delightful cabin was built in the 1930’s and has a peaceful nostalgic ambiance; truly a taste of a bygone era! The cabin is within walking distance to the National Wild and Scenic Middle Fork of the Feather River, which winds through our 40 acres. Stellar views of the Feather River, along with Sierra sunsets and moonlit nights, can be seen from the private back deck and riverside bedroom, along with many wonderful places to view the mountain peaks, Feather River and the local wildlife. Enjoy the private trail and access to the river. Located along scenic Highway 70, the property is surrounded by U.S. Forest Service land and to add a nostalgic reminder of our industrial age in transition, the Western Pacific railway snakes along the river the length of the property.
There are common areas for guests to enjoy, including sitting areas along the river trail with Adirondack chairs, hammocks and fire pits. With a nostalgic ambiance the accommodations offer a breath of fresh air in this busy world.
Take a step back; this is the perfect place to unplug, unwind and commune with nature. Read, write, relax, rejuvenate. No WiFi, television, or clocks. Let nature have its way with you each day. Personal smart phone mobile hotspots can provide opportunity to communicate electronically if needed.

We are 1 hour west from Reno (& the Reno National Airport), 50 miles North of Truckee, and about 2.5 hours from Sacramento.

We have named this cabin "Eureka Peak" after one of the local peaks, and is one of a cluster of six cabins that were part of the old Penman Peak Lumber Company established in 1925, which was a small working lumber mill until the mid 1940’s. We offer 4 of our cabins as vacation rentals. These cabins are not your typical Graeagle golf course rental. All the cabins boast pure mountain well water, so no need to bring bottled water!

The cabins and property are available for vacation getaways, and are perfect for family reunions, a unique workshop/retreat location as part of our Lost Sierra Retreat Center, and a unique and intimate wedding venue.*

*Retreat/Workshops/Ceremonies: We have a 30' yurt, two 16' yurts, ceremony site, and common areas available for workshops, retreats and ceremonies. Folding chairs and tables are available for a fee. There are also additional cabins available adjacent to Eureka Peak cabin, Cabin No. 5 - "Mt. Elwell," which can sleep up to 9 guests, Cabin No. 4 – “Mt. Washington,” which sleeps 6 guests, and Cabin No. 6 - "Little Feather," which sleeps 2 guests (with a fold-out futon couch for 2 more if necessary).

The river may be accessed by driveable/walkable dirt road and there is also a delightful "intermediate" trail from the cabin to the river. It is about a 5 minute walk.

The cabins were part of employee housing for the Penman Peak Lumber Company. The cabins are nicely spaced, with privacy for all. There are common areas, some with fire pits, for guests to use. A very peaceful setting.

The Silver Family lived in the Tahoe Truckee area for 26 years. In 2012 we acquired 40 acres in Plumas County, located near Graeagle, California on the National Wild and Scenic Feather River. The Graeagle area was our first home as a young married couple in 1979. We moved back full time in August of 2013. It's great to be back! Rich is a retired CA state park ranger, with one of our first assignments as newlyweds being Plumas-Eureka State Park in Johnsville, which is how we discovered this beautiful area. I worked as a paralegal in the Truckee area for 23 years. We have raised our family of four sons in the outdoors, and we continue to make nature and beautiful landscapes a priority in our lives. We have reserved four of the several 1930 vintage cabins, which were once part of the Penman Peak Lumber Company, as vacation rentals and a unique space for workshops, gatherings, etc. It is a beautiful spot, and we look forward to sharing it with you!
