Great location

Enjoy the ability to camp in solitude--not surrounded by RVs and other campers. Campers will need to bring their own tents, camping gear, and firewood.

The campsite at Locust Grove features a space of soft, lush grass behind the farmhouse surrounded by locust, buckeye, wild cherry, and dogwood trees--making for beautiful spring and fall views and cool summers. The space includes a fire pit, an electric light post that includes two outlets, free WIFI, and shared use of the full bath inside.

The space
Locust Grove is an 1850s farm in the midst of being restored to her former glory. The homestead features an artesian spring, wild raspberry and blackberry thickets, an abundance of native flowering trees, a chestnut barn, gardens and an apiary. I do have one mostly-outdoor cat, who is very tame and friendly, that will mill around the property and occasionally sleeps in the enclosed porch. Feel free to play with her, but if she's bother you just let the host know and he will try to keep her away!

Where you’ll be

Perrysville, Ohio, United States

Locust Grove is surrounded by 100 acres of private fields and forests. Other than the host, you're more likely to see turkey, deer, red-tail hawks, squirrels and rabbits more than you are other humans. Being a rural area, there are no enforced quiet hours or alcohol policies (unlike most campgrounds) but please be respectful of host or indoor guests regarding noise late at night.

I am a Museum Curator, and very familiar with the history of the area. I'm also active in the community, and have insight into most upcoming events and festivals. Feel free to ask for any tips on what to do around here!

During your stay

The host lives in the farmhouse, and therefore will be present--however the camping area is only visible from the kitchen and remains relatively private. The host can give guests as much space as they like, but is more than happy to socialize with guests as well.
