Curious about tiny home living? Visit our 128 sqft cozy cabin! On the spectrum between camping and a hotel room, it's a rustic and quirky place to call home while visiting Portland. We have 2 friendly dogs and a cat that will be around the property during your stay. Please: no smoking or parties. We look forward to meeting you on your journey and know you will enjoy our little slice of suburban paradise. It will be a unique and amazing experience and one you will remember! STHR-000718-2018

The space
Our guests frequently comment about the cabin's lovely energy! We agree! The cabin has a full-size bed, reading chair, bistro table, and a kitchenette with a mini-fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, and 3.5-gallon water dispenser. We provide basics such as coffee, tea, sugars, salt, pepper, as well as craft beers, bagels (cream cheese/butter/pb+j too), and some snacks for the road! A window fan and space heater are also available for your comfort, when needed. Hand sanitizer, wet wipes, bleach wipes, and soap are available for your use too.

There is a cute little outhouse behind the cabin outfitted with an RV/boat toilet for your convenience and we keep it clean, clean, clean. There is an adjacent outdoor sink for hand washing and toothbrushing as well. You are welcome to make the short walk to the main house for a warm shower. Your front porch is screened in for bug free evenings as you relax and look over our garden.

The cabin is "glampy"! Many of our guests keep the doors wide-open at night to enjoy the outdoor air without the bugs or weather getting to them. Take a nap in our hammock while being shaded by trees and listening to birdsong. If you want to enjoy a campfire, we provide the wood, sticks for food, and even have ready to go s'more kits for our guests! If you want assistance starting the fire we can help with that too - no judgement!

Fact: most of our guests who only had a short stay wish they had booked for another night in order to explore all Portland has to offer and ALSO have time to relax and enjoy the chill vibe of their cabin stay. Have the best of both worlds!

We are two fun and spontaneous gals (Jen is a career counselor and Darcy is a Massage Therapist and Occupational Therapist). We love traveling around the world but also love coming home to and spending time in our beautiful state of Maine. Darcy grew up and lived most of her life near Acadia National Park and loves giving visitors "insider information" about that part of the state. Jen, though she has only lived in Maine for 15 years, travels the entire state for work and can also offer a lot of "traveler information". She is also tapped into the Portland foodie and craft beer scene and loves to share her knowledge with others. People often ask us which is our favorite season in Maine and, because of the diversity in seasons here, that is a hard question to answer. Summer gives us time to garden, sail, bike, and camp; fall is a time of harvesting, fall foliage, and football; winter is for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice skating and reading in front of the fireplace; and spring is a time of renewal and hope as we shake off the chill of winter, welcome the sounds of returning song birds, and prepare our gardens for the upcoming summer. How could we pick just one? When we travel we love to wander the streets, enjoy the local vibe, and discover restaurants with local cuisine and beverages. We are very laid-back, love to meet new people, and have really enjoyed the wonderful experiences Airbnb has provided us as guests and hosts. We especially love being able to share our special space with travelers who visit Portland and learn about their lives and travels. We hope to meet you soon!

During your stay

We love our town and would be glad to give you advice on local things to do including entertainment, shops, bars, and restaurants. Jen, a foodie, craft beer lover, and outdoor enthusiast, has lived in Portland for 11 years and has spent 13 years traveling extensively throughout the entire state of Maine and New Hampshire for work. Darcy is a lifelong resident of the Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park area and is very familiar with the hiking, biking, and camping scene in that area. Both of us would love to share helpful information about our area that could enhance your trip plans - just ask!
