An oceanfront cottage with a true beach view and a peaceful and quiet setting, awaits any Newport vacationer anxious to see Oregon's unpopulated Beverly Beach. There is beach access which is shared with the near cottages. The trail is about a five minute forest walk and begins just north of all of the cottages close by. It is fun and adventurous for the agile hiker on the lower part of the trail. There is a population of mostly gray whales that reside along Beverly Beach. Bring your binoculars!

The space

Quaint and a bit rustic cottage with million dollar views of the ocean. From the deck one can see the Yaquina lighthouse to Cape Foulweather and Otter Rock (180 degrees). The cottage sits on the ocean bluff, about 120 feet above the beach, for spectacular unobstructed views from morning to nightfall.
Bring binoculars! You may find it alluring to just sit looking for whales. They may be viewed from the cottage throughout the day. The Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area boasts a permanent population of many grey and also migrating whales. Orcas can occasionally be seen as well. The whales come very close to the coastline due to a reef (about a quarter mile out).
The location is quiet and private, with a rural feel, yet just a few minutes by car to all the attractions, restaurants, and services.
The home is very clean, well furnished and maintained, with a complete kitchen, washer, and dryer. Tea, coffee, water and a few snacks are provided for your convenience.

Guest access

Follow the short stepstone pathway from your private parking and yard to the deck and doorway. There is private beach access by way of a path north of the homes. Please be aware you must be fairly sure footed and agile to take the path. It is great fun and takes a few minutes.

Interaction with guests

We are available by text, or call if anything is urgent. Communicating through AirBNB is fine as well.

Other things to note

There are many things to do in Newport. Devil's Punchbowl is just a few miles north, several lighthouses are within about 30 minutes drive, including the Yaquina Lighthouse that you can see from the deck and can tour and climb, which is the tallest in Oregon. The Water Front; Nye Beach stores, pubs and restaurants; the aquarium, museums, breweries, fishing, crabbing, and the beach are a few of the fun activities.

Our stay was absolutely more than we expected. The pictures do not tell the whole story. The view of the waves and flat sandy beaches, and sound of the ocean, the smell of the air are wonderful. Easy access to Oregon coastal attractions. Everything one should have in their own home was there and it was obvious that thought was put into the selection of every single amenity. I look forward to returning to The Whale's Edge Cottage in the near future at any time of the year. Janice was absolutely thorough, detailed, thoughtful and patient. You will thank her as I have.

This is a cosey very tidy place with an excellent view. It's very comfortable. Saw whales from deck. Would recommend the Beverly Beach entry to beach just down the road. The access near the house is pretty rugged

This cozy, light-filled cottage has a stunning view of the Mighty Pacific. The house was immaculate, the beds comfortable, and the kitchen stocked with everything we could have needed. A very short drive gave us access to a perfect beach, and 10 minutes away are the best restaurants on the Oregon coast.

Grab this spot. You won't regret it. Stunning view. Great place to see whales spout! The cottage had everything you need, plus some very thoughtful ammenities. Super location. There is SO much to do in this area. Top notch restaurants, fun shopping, don't miss the Yaquina Lighthouse, the tide pool area and Quarry Cove. Be thankful you get a 3 day pass. Then in just minutes you are back home to watch the ever-changing ocean. I can't imagine any place being better.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Randy and Janice were helpful and prompt in their responses when we did have a question. The view from the cottage was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed spending time on the beach below the cottage. And even saw a whale:) We plan to spend more time at this cottage on future visits to the coast.

Comfortable and peaceful cottage with amazing ocean view on clearer days and beautiful wave sounds to lull you to sleep. Quiet and private despite other cottages nearby. Very clean. We will be back!
