Former coach house of historic 17th century inn transformed into a stylish, double-height living space, made cosy with underfloor heating and wood burning stove. Sleeps 4, one double room with en suite bathroom plus a twin bedroom, high spec shower/wet room. Craftsman kitchen. Light and airy, yet comfortable interior space, looking out onto miraculously quiet courtyard with arbour seating.
Step out from the courtyard to famous artisan and vintage shopping, plus elegant cafes, on Catherine Hill.

The space

It has to be seen to be understood. Wow factor high!

Minimal furnishing, yet comfortable. Combination of contemporary and artisan features with original Fontana lighting. Free wifi plus TV (and home cinema projection if requested in advance).

Things we worry about: children bouncing on beds or operating the wood burner.

Guest access

Enter through courtyard door which gives access to 2 other dwellings, so mutual respect is important. Use of courtyard is encouraged. Off-street parking for guests. Local amenities within walking distance.

Interaction with guests

We all have access to the same private courtyard, so we will be on-hand for questions/help but non-invasive! Booklets and a file of information about household matters and local events and cultural opportunities are on site, but feel free to ask about/discuss particulars.

Other things to note

Currently, the old inn roof is being renovated (March - April) which means scaffolding around the building and some machinery in the courtyard. However, this does not affect The Coach House, which remains peaceful and aloof!

A super space, really beautiful. It’s fully open space, light and airy and amazingly furnished. We really did love it and we will be back. Also frome is awesome! Thanks Emily!

Immaculately clean, light and airy, this place is absolutely beautiful. A great mix of minimalism, art, and cosy-ness, this Airbnb has so much soul. The care and detail feels like perfection. We felt very much at home during our stay, and did not want to leave. A perfect walking distance to the quaint, bubbling Frome- Emily had some kind tips for where to go and eat, what to see and do. Emily herself is a gloriously generous and lovely human, and we enjoyed our interactions with her. On a practical note, the two separate bedrooms are not sound-proofed as they are open lofts (though still separate). So if you’re more than 2, and are bothered by sounds, this might be something to consider. (This being said, we were three and it was absolutely fine). I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat! Best Airbnb I've ever been to.

Beautiful place, great hospitality, great location. We stayed for the weekend to visit Frome and Bath. Spent Saturday in Bath, an easy 25-min drive away, then Sunday at the brilliant Frome Market. Emily was lovely, really attentive but not invasive. The place is stylish and cosy. We cooked our first night and the kitchen was stocked with all the helpful utensils you'd need. Would recommend to everyone!

A great place to stay! Beautifully designed, stylish and quirky, comfortable, lots of character and well equipped. Emily gave us a very warm welcome and communication was very good. Wish we could have stayed longer! Definitely recommended!

Emily's place is absolutely beautiful, open plan and with everything you could need. There is a great shower and a bath and the place feels light and airy and has lots of room. Emily was extremely accommodating and helped with anything we needed. We loved staying here. The one thing we would say is that both bedrooms are open plan so possibly isn't the best place to stay with a young baby as noise travels but we would definitely come again.

A stunning home to stay in for a long weekend with our four month old. Cannot be faulted. Really peaceful spot just around the corner from the high street. We had a wonderful stay and Emily was a great host.

Emily's home is as beautiful as it looks in the photos. The space is airy and bright with an eclectic decor that is stylish while also being super comfy and homely. Our stay was perfect; we were welcomed warmly and found the property easily. It's a very short walk down St Catherine's (hill) into town and all the delicious cafes & fab shops. The ideal weekend away from London. We took a 5yo and a near 2yo and the stairs & mezzanine were not a problem. Finding milk and butter at the property was a godsend after a 3hr drive, and underfloor heating a bonus. All round, LOVED everything. Thank you.
