This home is on a nice big property which was nice having our dog and kids with us the water is pretty far away (but you have beautiful view of bay) which is great when you have a younger child but not too far if you want to take a nice walk along the rocky beach at low tide. Belfast is about 20 mins away from the house and has so many cute stores along with great food and ice cream places for kids. Make sure you get a dinner or lunch at young lobsters pound which is about 15 mins from house on the way to town (Belfast) you can eat there or take the food home with you and Darlene has the house stocked with tons of crab and lobster utensils! If you are a big hiking family be sure to go to acadia national park its only a hour drive well worth it!! We really enjoyed ourselves this week we would return to the cottage again.

The house's best feature is the view: directly on Penobscot Bay and lovely at every hour of the day. The owners have charmingly decorated it with marine reminders and beautiful quilts. The kitchen is well equipped and the whole back side of the house is open to the Bay view--beautiful! We particularly enjoyed the spacious screened porch where you can eat, read, or just relax in the comfy furniture. While we were just two people, the house would definitely accommodate a pretty large party, and there's ample parking in the driveway for multiple vehicles.

Beautiful home with a wonderful view. Kitchen is fully stocked, and even condiments were awaiting us in the fridge. Perfect place, centrally located with all kinds of activities.

Darlene is a great host! Months before we set foot on the property, she made sure we knew what was available in the area in terms of dining, outdoor activities, day trips, parks and reserves, festivals, and of course beaches. The house is set up and decorated beautifully, and the deck, screened-in porch, and yard provide a wonderful view day and night. We were lucky enough to see a few very nice moons rise over the cove and the star-gazing was awesome. Darlene was very accessible before, during and after our stay and made it easy for us to check in an check out. She has everything set up so that you can really feel at home in many ways: grilling out, cooking in the kitchen (we did a lot of that!), building a fire in the fire place in the living room. The bedding was clean and comfortable, and the nights were quiet and cool--perfect for sleeping with the windows open. The cove is located perfectly to reach many attractions within a couple hours. We were able to take day trips to Acadia and Deer Isle, where there were beach access, canoeing, guided tours, hiking, and many routes for scenic car touring. The house is secluded enough that highway/car noise is absolutely not an issue, but is conveniently within 3/4 of a mile of a nice breakfast/lunch spot that also serves hand-dipped ice cream. This was our first vacation as a family and we had a wonderful time on the cove. We would definitely return!

My husband and I grew up and reside in Bucks County Pennsylvania. We have been vacationing in Maine for over 20 years and have established close ties and friendship to its people. I truly enjoy welcoming and hosting guests to our home, especially first time visitors to Maine. I am a registered nurse working as a research coordinator for a large cardiology practice in Philadelphia. My husband works with industrial and artistic glass. He enjoys hunting and fishing and is looking forward to someday receiving his first moose permit.
