The space
There are 8 rooms in the guesthouse, each with a double bed and attached bathroom with running water.
Extra beds can be put in if there is a slightly larger group.
We also offer tents, which can be pitched on the ground if a group so desires.

All rooms face the river. There is a view of the river and forest from each room and dining hall.

Each room has its own attached toilet and shower with hot water.

All rooms are equipped with ceiling fans (no need for AC as it is in the mountains). Room heaters are available in the winter.

Each room's cost includes vegetarian breakfast for the residents of the room

Extra beds cost 500 INR each (± € 7, about USD 8)

Lunch and dinner are available, at extra cost, so please notify us when booking if you will be needing food as well; or at least 24 hours in advance, if you are already checked in.

We try to provide only organic food. Since we are close to the villages, we make every effort to purchase our food supplies from the villagers. Of course, if this is not available, then we purchase from the market.

We are developing a herb and vegetable garden on the grounds, and guests are invited to become actively involved if gardening is their interest.

Anand-Ganga is a non-smoking and alcohol-free environment.

Laundry facilities are available on request.

Guests will have access to their room, common yoga hall, common dining room, terrace, river bank, mineral silt beach, garden, sheltered verandah area and temple.

Other things to note
In the evenings, have a dip in the glacial melt, scrub your skin with the silt, and come back to the room to have a hot water shower before dinner

You can get Mustard oil massaged into your scalp to provide your hair with nutrition

Transport, guidance on Forest department permits, and accommodation at onward destinations as far as Gangotri or Tapovan place can be organized for you upon request

This is the best place to use as a base to travel around and enjoy all the attractions in a radius of about 100 kms, you can see over 10 major mountain peaks from all of the following places.

From here, you can plan day trips or extended trips to

(1) bird & mushroom watching in a protected forest area; meeting cowherds on the ski slopes of Dayara Bugial at 10000 ft altitude; you can even spend a few nights here in summer. Trip approx 12 hours

(2) learn advanced Kundalini techniques from Shankar guruji in 4000 year old Vimaleshwar Temple at 7150 feet altitude; stay for the night or walk back to Uttarkashi via Sangrali terraced village. Trip approx 6 hours

(3) practice tranquility at timeless Natchiketa Taal (home of the gateway to the afterlife), in Gangotri National park, altitude 8057 feet, meet the baba who has been living here for decades now; Trip approximately 5 hours.

(4) cure skin ailments by taking a long bath in the hot sulfur springs near Gangnani village, Trip approx 4 hours

(5) thrill yourself at the misty Sat Taal lakes near Dharali. Spend a night there and test the legends that say that you will hear your loved ones call out for you! trip approx 16 hours.

(6) Visit the temple and hike on Gangotri glaciers at Gaumukh; You will need a guide for this trip, and we can organize one for you. Trip approx 48 hours in good weather

(7) Spend a night at Bhojwasa village, behold the awe inspiring Shivling mountain at Tapovan (forest of the Masters of penance); You will need a guide for this trip, and we can organize one for you. Trip approx 96 hours in good weather.


We are also less than 100 meters from Shivananda Kuteer, a world renowned yoga college. If you are visiting someone at the yoga school, we are best suited to take excellent care of you.

Namaste! My name is Krishna Nand. It had long been my dream to open a Yoga guesthouse on the banks of the Ganga river. I have a deep interest in Yoga and the spiritual and physical benefits it offers us. My interest in Yoga started around the age of 17 when I began practicing on my own. For a number of years after that, I participated in several short Yoga courses to improve my knowledge and practice. In 2004, I had the opportunity to take the intensive yoga Teachers Training Course (Yoga Siromani) offered by the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in Uttarkashi, Himalayas, and am now an accredited Yoga instructor. In 2015, I got the opportunity to complete my Advanced Teachers Training Course (Yoga Acharya) in Madurai Sivananda Menakshi Ashram in Tamil Nadu from the same organization. For several years I worked with the Krishnamurti Foundation where I was Hindi and music teacher, as well as the in-charge for the Krishnamurti Retreat. My work brought me in contact with many people, from all parts of India and the world, who would come to stay at the school and the retreat. There I met so many wonderful people. Since I like to meet people with whom I can learn and share thoughts, ideas and talents, I really felt that I would like to have a place where I can continue to meet others, to share and learn together. My dream was fulfilled in the year of 2010 when I finally built my own Yoga guesthouse on the banks of holy Mother Ganga. The name of my guesthouse is Anand-Ganga; Anand meaning Joy. I work as a school teacher in the Uttarkhand Government school system, where I continue to pursue my interest in Yoga by teaching yoga to my young students and organizing workshops for school children and adults in the Uttarkashi area. My teaching: I teach Yoga in Uttarkashi to individuals and groups from all over the world I organize Yoga workshops for children, adults, policemen and army in Uttarkashi My Yoga workshop has been shown on Discovery Channel all over India I give Yoga and music (chanting, bhajan, folk music) classes in various parts of Europe each summer (e.g. Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Germany, Israel)
