"De Gulle splendor" Vacation home, Friesland

Our cozy vacation cottage, originally was an old stable that we (Caroline and Jan) converted together, with lots of love and respect for the old details and materials, into this "Gulle Pracht". Through a private driveway with parking, you reach the terrace with the spacious garden, a lawn with surrounding tall trees, where you can enjoy. Through the two French doors, you step into the bright and cozy living room with the white old beams and a fully equipped open kitchen. There is wireless internet available, TV and DVD. Because of the ceiling in the living room that has been removed, beautiful light falls in from the skylights and you have a view of the roof structure with the old round hoods. The beds are located on top of the two lofts. The comfortable double bed is accessed by an open staircase. The other loft, where a third or fourth bed can possibly be made, is only accessible by flexible guests via a ladder. It is not suitable for small children because of the danger of falling, but older children find it exciting to sleep there. Please note, the two lofts share the same large open space. Under the old beams, you can sleep peacefully, where only the sound of rustling trees, whistling birds or your deliciously snoring bedmate will be heard. The room is heated by central heating, but also only the wood-fired stove can heat the cottage comfortably. You will be provided with enough wood from us to start a cozy fire. Through an old stable door in the living room, you come to the bathroom with beamed ceiling and underfloor heating. The bathroom has a good shower, double sink and toilet. With its inlaid mosaics and all kinds of funny and old details, this space is also a feast for the eyes. There are two bicycles available for nice trips in the wider area (Harlingen, Franeker Bolsward). We may want to drop you off in Harlingen for a crossing to Terschelling. You can leave the car in our yard for a while. We, ourselves, live in the farmhouse which is in the same yard. We are available for help, information and advice for fun trips in our beautiful Friesland. Your cottage and our farmhouse are separated by our garden and the big old barn (with pool table), so we both have our own space and privacy. Kimswerd , located on the eleven city route is a small, quiet and beautiful village where our Frisian hero " de Grutte Pier" was born and lived. He still watches over us, in petrified form, at the beginning of our little street, next to the centuries-old Church, which is very much worth visiting as well. You can do your shopping in Harlingen, the supermarket is a fifteen minute bike ride away. The old port of Harlingen is 10 km from our cottage. Kimswerd is located just across the Afsluitdijk. From there, follow the signs N31 Harlingen/ Leeuwarden/Zurich and take the first exit at Kimswerd, 1st right at the traffic circle, 1st right again at the next traffic circle, straight ahead at the intersection, across the bridge and immediately take the first left (Jan Timmerstraat). At the beginning of this street, next to the church, stands the statue of the Grutte Pier. We live in the farmhouse behind the church, Jan Timmerstraat 6, first wide gravel path on the right. - For small children, sleeping on the loft without a fence is not advisable because of the danger of falling. It's just fun for big kids, the loft is accessible by a ladder. Please note, it is above 1 large open space with no privacy.

Sleeping at the sheep & a whole herd of horses.

Wake up to the view of the dining room of a herd of horses that live in freedom, 2 pigs who make their bed every night in front of the window and sometimes a sheep walks by. Closer to the pure things in life. Therefore, there is no WiFi and no TV. However, there is a large table to play games with each other and a lovely sofa to have a glass of wine together. Studio Pekelvisch consists of a simple space on the ground floor and a sleeping loft above. Compact, tough furnished with lots of old building materials. The accommodation was really nice, an absolute recommendation! In addition to a wonderful interior, the accommodation impressed with its great location, terrace with a view of nature. There were many loving details. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed the time. Helen welcomed us very kindly and gave us a few tips for the area. A place to let your mind wander, to enjoy nature, to be alone to linger by the sea, to visit small towns.

We were simply absolutely amazed by Sterre's vacation apartment. It is very stylishly equipped and has everything you need. The peace and quiet is incredibly beautiful and the sunrise over the field is impressive. The ponies, sheep and cats are another highlight. The beautiful Harlingen with its restaurants and shops can be reached very quickly by car. Sterre is very friendly and the communication was very pleasant and uncomplicated. We would always come back :)

we truly enjoyed our stay at Jeroen's house. It's very cozy and quaint. The village and neighbors are friendly and it is very peaceful. the Internet connection was strong and the bed was comfortable. perfect for work and vacation. the dogs were also very happy with lots of lively walks around Pingjum!

We were away for another friend's wedding for a night with three friends. This Airbnb was a perfect place for us! It was a small, nicely decorated space with all the comforts and very clean. The clear instruction made it easy to find. The center was also within walking distance (15 min) so good for us for a bite to eat in Harlingen. The communication was very nice and they were also very helpful when it turned out that a friend had left something in the cottage. Highly recommended and we will probably come back again (hopefully a little longer next time!)

Lovely spacious house with a lot of wood finish, nicely decorated with beautiful things and warm colors. Froukje is a top hostess who gave us a warm welcome and immediately offered an extra bike when she discovered that we only had 2 bikes with us while there were 3 of us. We had nice weather, so nice outside in the sun in our private garden.

Had a wonderful time! The accommodation is in a wonderfully quiet location – ideal for switching off. We especially liked the cows on the neighboring pasture, a real highlight for our child. The garden is large, well maintained and perfect for children and dogs to play and relax. The sea is also within easy walking distance, which makes the location even more attractive. The house was clean and tidy, we felt comfortable immediately. In the height of summer, it could get warm in the house.

We spent four wonderful days in the beautiful house. Everything was thought of and we lacked nothing. We were there with our parents and children and used the accommodation as a starting point for excursions in the area. Unfortunately, the weather did not allow us to use the beautiful terrace.
