Holiday rentals in Phetchabun

The setting is absolutely wonderful - the photos don’t do justice to the mountain views. It is a small design-led resort with 5 rooms beautifully converted from train carriages. Our carriage had a bathroom extension and a large decked terrace. We had a peek at the other carriages too which are a similar quality. The whole site is very well maintained (not always the case in Thailand). We spent most time (other than sleeping) on the terrace - watching the sunset, and cooking breakfast the next morning. There is lots of kit for self catering - rice cooker, electric single hob, toaster oven, cafetière, kettle, etc - and there was some food and drink provided in the fridge, but it’s in a quiet area (blissfully quiet) and you should plan dinner accordingly. You will need your own transport if you are there longer than a night. We will definitely return - hopefully for a longer stay next time.

Great stay and the host was extremely helpful. I booked the wrong dates and showed up one day early. The host was very understanding and helpful. They helped us out and found a solution for us. Highly recommended.

The place is a new wooden house built on stilts in the traditional way. It's very charming and is surrounded by trees and greenery. The balcony is big and great for relaxing after a day in the mountains or in the heat. We were taken care of by some local friends of the host who were extremely hospitable and happy to take care of us. We took the offer of having dinner served to us every evening, and it was beautifully prepared Thai dishes with local ingredients – all very good tasting. Having a car in this area is strongly recommended, even though it worked for us without a car. We were picked up in Lom Sak bus station when we arrived, and delivered back when we left. We arranged a trip with our hosts to the attractions in the area (temples and mountains) which we paid extra for. The town is easy to explore by bicycle, and we felt we had a small adventure by just pedaling around this remote town and stopping at small rustic eateries.

Amp's place was really wonderful to stay in for the night at Khao Kho. The place was comfortable overall and we did enjoy our stay there. However, as the night is quite cold, it can be a little freezing despite having the aircon set in heating mode. The net outside the terrace can be further tighten as it has sank a fair bit since it was first installed. The shower had sufficient running warm/hot water, so we did enjoy our warm shower before bed. The additional touch of putting a bottle of white wine was a nice thought! We enjoyed it with the BBQ skewers (250 baht) we ordered. We didn't want the whole set of mookata (500 baht for 2) as we were too full from our lunch. Regardless whichever you order, they will have someone set up for you outside the cliff house. As we chose to barbecue, ashes were flying around and the meat can be easily burnt as there wasn't any butter or oil provided. For the morning at 7.45am, our breakfast were delivered to our room in metal tin cans (traditional tingkats) with fried rice, sausage, sunny side up egg and a yoghurt drink. The breakfast was warm and delicious to us as we were up early for the sunrise view. Lastly, as we checked-in late afternoon, there was a local young boy roaming around the area holding with many trinkets for tourists to buy. To us, it was a surprise as he was jumping into the net and looking at us with his packet of lays chips. We had to lock our doors before we left for sunset view by driving out. We also had to put our other pairs of shoes inside the room before we left as we weren't sure if it will be taken away. We can't imagine if we were renting the tents and probably others might easily ransacked it by strangers. Other note: upon check in, you will need to pay a security deposit (cash) for the key and it will be returned upon checked out.

Bertrand und seine Frau waren unglaublich freundliche Gastgeber! Sie haben uns jeden Wunsch von den Lippen abgelesen und haben uns Empfehlungen für die Gegend gegeben. Sie haben stets geschaut, das es uns gut geht. Das Apartment war sauber, schön und wohnlich eingerichtet. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und wir konnten uns die Uhrzeit auswählen. Wunderschöne Umgebung mit Blick auf die Berge und alles sehr gepflegt. Absolute Empfehlung!

We had an amazing time at the Farm Stay and highly recommend it! The views of rice fields and mountains were breathtaking, and the sunsets and stars were stunning. What made the experience unforgettable was our hosts, Tawan and her family. They treated us like family, giving us a tour of their organic farm where we picked fresh produce for delicious traditional Thai dishes. We even learned to make a green curry with ingredients from their garden and local market. Tawan also took us to local temples and hidden gems, offering a truly immersive experience. The accommodation was comfortable, clean, and well-equipped, with great WiFi, a lovely shower, and Netflix (though the outdoors kept us entertained). If you're looking for an authentic, peaceful escape with wonderful hosts, this place is a must-visit. We’d definitely return and highly recommend it!
