Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Oudomxay Province

We hit the jackpot finding Hidden Mekong. It was perfect for our small family group of 3 adults for 9 days. The house is as beautiful and comfortable as in the pictures, with everything you could need, plus great air con, and that amazing view of the Mekong from the balcony area. Noy allowed us to check in early, and was very responsive to queries throughout our stay. The property really is a hidden gem. Set off a bustling commercial area, accessed down a lane and alleys past local homes to a very private and peaceful riverside spot. We loved the walk to the local shops and market, seeing life and greeting our neighbours, and also made use of the bikes Noy provided. The Ock Pok Tok Centre is nearby which is a little oasis to grab an iced tea by the river or an evening meal, and enjoy the local crafts. It’s just a little too far to walk into Luang old town in the heat but easy to grab a taxi or tuk. Just be aware they can’t get right to the property (if you have mobility issues).

we enjoyed the place very much. we felt right at home with family visiting. big great place closed to local street market. she had a sour mango tree, yummy with spicy sauce! Nathalie was very responsive from start to end eventhough there was 12 hrs apart. she had her cleaner wait for us, she gave us so many tips and taxies info to use. would recommend and would use again if ever back in town

The house is in a superb location and we walked to all the key sites. The hotel a few doors down (Avani) allows the use of their pool for $10 a day which was super convenient. Potential guests should check when the burning of the rice fields occurs as it was very smoky and smoggy whilst we were there, which made getting good pics of the beauty of Luang Prabang difficult. We got used to it after a couple of days. The place is very big downstairs, although there is not so much natural light. We hired mountain bikes and were able to leave them in use for safety. We spent most of the time in the kitchen area where there are 2 large ceiling fans and floor fan, or upstairs where there is air con - as it is pretty hot in March. We did not use the kitchen for cooking but could see it was equipped to make up meals. Mija was a very helpful host who bought over an over-bed anti-mosquito dome, and a pack of bottled water to start us off. Any queries were answered promptly and helpfully. We had to unfortunately depart early due to the Covid-19 Epidemic. Mija immediately offered us a cash refund in dollars for the remaining day’s. This was very much appreciated given how upset and stressed we were about the situation. Thank you Mija! Hopefully we can return one day !

The authentic Laotian 🇱🇦 house next to the morning and night market is charming and real. The owners also have two iconic restaurant/bar in town. Even President Obama enjoyed this UNESCO town. You will too.

Our stay at Chaliya’s Airbnb was great. The house looked the same as in the photos, we especially enjoyed having a kitchen and spending time at the rooftop at night time. Chaliya was also extremely helpful with everything we needed. She made our stay easy and comfortable.

Das Haus liegt in einer sehr ruhigen Lage. Alles war sehr ordentlich, sauber und es wohnt eine sehr nette Señora nebenan, die uns bei allen Fragen geholfen hat. Zu Fuß sind es 25 Minuten ins Zentrum, leichter ist es aber mit einem Roller :)

This was an exceptionally enjoyable stay for me. The place was as advertised and it met all of my needs and interests. I had the amenities I wanted and I truly appreciated my privacy. A huge benefit was the use of a bicycle provided freely which enabled me to cover more territory than I could have on foot. I had the pleasure of exploring the area of town I stayed in and the riding was safe, comfortable and most convenient. Without hesitation I offer Christophe's place a very high recommendation. I would be very pleased to stay again on a future visit to Luang Prabang.

What an amazing heritage apartment for an ultimate local experience. The balcony with view on the river bank is great to enjoy the sunrise, breakfast and chill after a long day. It has everything incl a fully equipped kitchen. I just missed a rack to hang wet clothes on the balcony. I hope other visitors appreciate the beauty of the apartment and treat it carefull to keep it intact. The location on the river bank is great, peaceful in the morning, not loud, just behind the main street for shops, restaurants, bike rentals, etc. I found the approximate location on the listing of Airbnb misleading, because the apartment is not in that area. It didn't matter to me on the end, because i preferred the actual location and Luang Prabang is very walkable.

Chanthi is an incredible host and a lovely person! She welcomes you with a basket of fresh fruits and the warmest smile. The house is spacious and well-equipped, and the bed is very comfortable. It's a bit further from the city centre, and one of the bikes was a little tall for us, so we mostly walked or rented a motorbike. The neighbourhood dogs (all pets) can be unpredictable and bark at night, but once introduced, they become friendly. If you're afraid of dogs, talk to Chanthi—she'll happily find a solution. Overall, it was a memorable and highly recommended stay!

I really enjoyed my week stay there and the owner (French) was one of the most helpful hosts I ever had. They picked me up from station! Place was well taken care with good amenities. Aircon was life saving haha! I really appreciated the bycicle, you can get to old town maybe in less than 10 min. Unfortunately two things need to be noted before you book. Firstly - there is no glass windows, just mosquitiera+wood. Which makes it super dark all the time there. Helps with heat, but going to sleep and waking up dark is like living in prison cell. As long as you wake up with sunrise and go out you be fine, otherwise it's quite depressing. It's also noisy! I was lucky that during my stay construction nearby was stopped. It only resumed on the last day and it was really loud :( also neighbors are noisy too, with even having loud fights at 1am and you can hear every word. I would still consider staying again, Eric (owner) was super kind and helpful. Just note those things before you stay.

This is a real vacation home. Clean, quiet, safe, comfortable, easy to walk around the city. The owner is very kind and welcoming. I will definitely come back.

The flat is neat, simple but tastefully designed and super comfortable, much better than the photos in my opinion, and it was perfect for us also price wise. The room can be made dark at night thanks to shutters. We stayed three nights instead of the five booked due to a problem with plumbing. Henri was very attentive to the problem and offered us a very suitable alternative which we accepted and were glad. The only thing I missed was the food preparation possibility that the room has. Before leaving the room we liked the walk to town, one by the main road and another through smaller roads, both about 20 minutes. We didn’t take tuk-tuks in the three days we were there. We hope to go back stay at this place or another one hosted by Henri and Boukham. .
