It is next to the Park Chemin de l’île, the city market of Nanterre Ville, the University of Paris 10 Nanterre, and la Défense, the business district. You will appreciate my place for its comfort, its large living room, its terrace and little garden, its independance, and its very quiet neighbourhood. I couldn’t have chosen a better place—or better hosts. Slyde, and especially Frederic, were more than just welcoming; they took the time to show me around and introduced me to wonderful people. I gained a lot of perspective both in art and life by having a lovely conversation with them. Aulnay-sous-Bois is a quiet yet vibrant and well-connected community, and the hosts represented the town perfectly. The room was cozy, and the house itself is filled with remarkable works of art. And as lovely as it was, it was also convenient—just a 3–5 minute walk to patisseries and grocery stores, another few minutes to the train station, and only 20–30 minutes from the heart of Paris. It was a beautiful experience—one that made it easy to call this place home, even if only for a few days.

There are not enough stars on the rating system to give my stay with Catherine. As a very experienced solo female traveler I had one of the best stays of my life. I feel like I met a friend for life with Catherine. Breakfast with her every morning was a delight before I stared off on my adventure. She was so helpful in finding me things to do that I would not have been able to discover on my own. Her location is away from the crowds and the noise of the city but she gave me such helpful advice to navigate the buses and train system often cutting down my commute or finding viewpoints and gardens to enjoy. I also felt like I learned so much about French culture and life. But she is also very accommodating if you want your privacy. I had the best of both worlds.
