Our house is located in the best location in Motomachi Shopping Street, which is famous for being a 3-minute walk from Motomachi/Chinatown Station (Minatomirai Line), an 8-minute walk from Ishikawacho Station (JR), 20 minutes to Haneda Airport, 20 minutes to Haneda Airport, 30 minutes to Tokyo Station, and 40 minutes to Ueno Station. The surrounding area is within walking distance, such as Yokohama Chinatown, Motomachi Shopping Street, Yamashita Park, the hill park overlooking the harbor, and the Red Brick Warehouse, and there are popular sightseeing spots such as Landmark Tower and Cosmo World. A review as a solo female (Asian) American visitor: Toki-san and her family were amazing hosts! Everyone is very kind and wants you to have the best stay possible. I felt incredibly safe throughout the entire duration of my stay. Toki-san provided laundry services and went above and beyond, helping me dry my shoes after they got wet from the rain. She is extremely kind and professional host. This accommodation is a bit far from Tokyo, a total travel of 1-2 hours, but I found the commute to be tolerable if you have the time. Still, the location has its own benefits away from the city with more low key attractions and a very peaceful neighborhood. There are also convenience stores, restaurants, and a supermarket within a 10-15 minute walk radius which I enjoyed stopping by for snacks. Overall, if you’re looking for a unique accomodation away from Tokyo, this is your place to go. Toki-san and her family made a great difference to my trip in the most splendid way. Thank you Toki-san!

Etsu should write the textbook on hosting people. Staying at matcha terrace was truly a special experience. The home is even more beautiful than the pictures. One day I was not feeling well, Etsu did everything she could to make sure I felt better. I am really happy I was at matcha terrace at that time. It is a beautiful Japanese home. It’s very quiet, and you get a lot of privacy and room for yourself. She cooks an AMAZING breakfast every morning. It’s a beautiful way to start your day. She drove me to and from the station. On my last day she stopped to show me the Hydrangeas at a local shrine. As a solo traveler she offered to take pictures of me, without me asking. No detail is too small for Etsu. She has local insights and gives very good recommendations. I plan on coming back to matcha terrace the next time I am in Japan. Seriously a special place and an incredible host. Would highly recommend! Plus a cute dog 😊
