Family-friendly holiday rentals in Malta

Our expectations for Villa Bernadette were extremely high, and those expectations were thoroughly surpassed. Victor was extremely easy to deal with, providing timely and helpful instructions with a useful visit at the start of our trip. The area is quiet, not far from the beach and the views are stunning. As a big group, the privacy and space was excellent. Each room was spotless, with spacious communal areas that provided plenty of options. Especially good were the outside areas and the huge terrace and pool with all day sunshine and sweeping views. Overall - a fantastic stay at a brilliant price. I can't recommend Villa Bernadette enough, so much so that a second trip was discussed before the first ended!

A place with history, like so much of Malta but with all modern amenities. The pool and jacuzzi were really relaxing after a day's sightseeing - we spent all our time 'at home' beside the pool! Thank you Shaun for great communication and a great stay.

Loved the house and location, had a 360 view of the sea from the roof terrace. The children enjoyed their time in the swimming pools. Had all the amenities needed for a home away from home. The cleaner and owner were very helpful and accommodating to our family and we really appreciate that.

Twilight is a lovely villa, tucked away along a quiet lane but a quiet and beautiful walk away from two Lighthouse supermarkets. There’s also a lovely restaurant on the church square in San Lawrenz. Having an en suite each was great. Wi-Fi was fast and worked well by the pool. Aircon was excellent. The pool was the best feature of the house… the pool terrace is lovely, gets the sun all day and that view! Also we were always able to find shade… didn’t use the hot tub as it was so hot but a great addition for cooler months. Take bug spray we all got a few bites. We also bought a citronella candle for evenings. Great communication from Kevin, nothing too much trouble.

Stephanie was an excellent host. She sent useful information before we arrived and greeted us on arrival. There were one or two minor issues with plumbing that were sorted promptly and in a friendly manner. The place is really lovely especially the pool area. There were six of us but there is ample room for up to ten people . The Bolt taxi service is good but I would say a hire car is almost essential if, like us want to explore a lot of Malta. Mellieha is an excellent hub for water sports and the ferry to Gozo. Overall I think Citrine villa is a beautiful if a little faded gem.

We had a lovely stay overall and the house itself was clean, comfortable, and just as described. Aaron was responsive, helpful and friendly, which we really appreciated. While we fully understand that this was beyond Aaron’s control, we feel it’s important to mention that there was ongoing construction nearby during our stay, including loud jackhammering during the day. This did impact our ability to fully enjoy the outdoor spaces. It wasn’t what we had anticipated for a quiet village. We certainly appreciated the ‘no construction rules’ on Sundays and Aaron asking them to not start too early in the morning. Still, our family loved ‘Ta Happin’ and our daily walks to the Xaghra’s main square and trips to Ramla Bay and with the noise/building works aside, we had a good experience.

Lovely relaxing house with lots of character. Steps to go down to the pool. Not many grocery shops close by, but not a problem if you have a car. Bolt and Wolt do a fine job at delivering food too. The host answered our questions and saw to our problems promptly.

Wow - what an amazing property! 16 of us stayed as part of a bridal party for our wedding in Malta. From the start Rosanne was very responsive and helpful with the questions we had. The kitchen area is big and never felt congested with all the guests. Rooms were as described and what was reflective in photos - dated but very clean. Air con worked well in every room. Wi-Fi is not great if you are not in main kitchen area but who needs WiFi when on holiday?! The outside area is stunning and there is so much room. Because we were staying for our wedding, there were others who were staying in Malta. As there is a lot of room outside, it was no problem for our parents and friends coming round to socialise by the pool/outdoor kitchen. We organised cleaners to come in midway through the trip (when we were at our wedding) and it was unbelievable how they turned round the place from how it was left. Great service. Really can’t recommend this place highly enough. It ticks so many boxes.

We cannot fault our experience with Mark Anthony. He organised a very helpful taxi driver to pick us up from the airport who knew the property location well and came back for us in the middle of the night for our return flight. As for the property it was clean, well maintained and very good value for money considering the great location. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

From the time of booking, communication with Tina was excellent – fast, helpful and with many useful tips (e.g. restaurant list). When we opened the balcony door, the breathtaking view of Valletta immediately inspired us. The location is ideal: ferries and buses are directly opposite, supermarket, restaurants and bars nearby. From the balcony you have a great view of the promenade of Sliema, and yet it is quiet in the apartment - the bedrooms are at the back. If we travel to Malta again, we would book this apartment again immediately. Small note: For Malta, you need an adapter for British sockets (type G).

Pawlu is a fantastic host. Super friendly and helpful. Great with recommendations and clear and easy advice on how to get from the airport and how to check in. Pawlu's place is a real 'home from home' type of place, we all settled in really well and had a fab stay. We'd highly recommend Pawlu's property to others. Marsakala is also a lovely place to stay, away from the main tourist spots, giving you the opportunity to really enjoy Malta as a local. The bus service is also excellent and we had no trouble travelling to various locations around the island. Thanks for having us.

Robert (and his lovely dog Duke!) was an incredible and attentive host. He provided amenities (such as a taxi service from the airport; fruit, bread and water), and helpful directions and recommendations. His apartment was full of charm and felt homey. It was steps to the water, and had views of the Upper Barrakka gardens. I highly recommend Robert’s place, and hope to return soon!

My partner and I had the best time at Sim's property. It is a beautiful flat, spacious and comfortable. Sim's recommendations were spot on and not like anything we had seen before - his level of detail in the information he sent before check in was unheard of. We are very happy to have stayed at Sim's flat and definitely recommend it!

We loved the apartment, so spacious and a great location. Appreciated the big bottle of water and wine. View over the bay was amazing! xx

Thank you for having us! Lucy's place was very cozy, private, in a more quiet part of the city but easy to reach the rest of Valetta and other places we wanted to visit around the islands.

First time in Malta and stayed at Guil's place as visiting friends who live nearby. Everything was on point. Could walk everywhere and short 10 minute walk to Valetta which we enjoyed in the mornings before the crowd. Great spot away from tourists in a local area, and our friends who lived nearby commented on how great a spot it was. Apartment is amazing, air con, great balcony and entertaining area. Will be back!! A way to be amongst the history of Malta with the luxury of a great apartment. Cheers!

Absolutely recommended if you're looking for a peaceful and charming place to stay! We chose Gozo for our family trip (4 adults, 2 kids) because we wanted a quiet escape from the busy parts of Malta — and it was the perfect choice. The house is a beautiful traditional Gozo home in excellent condition. It had everything we needed to make our week-long stay comfortable and relaxing. Alexandra was a fantastic host — super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The key handover and tour of the house went smoothly and made us feel right at home. If we return to Malta or Gozo, we would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay in Matthew & Elaine’s town house with our 11 month old daughter. Communication was friendly and fast and when we missed a baby chair Elaine came to bring it to us right away. It should be noted that there is a lot of construction going on, at both sides of the house, but it’s not on a all day every day basis so it didn’t bother us too much. The walk to the beach is beautiful and it’s also easy to walk to the town square with some bars. If you have a rental car the whole island is easily accessible. Last of all we really appreciated the ‘welcome package’ with some fresh produce. Thanks!

This was our second stay at Marthese's place, and we just love it. Perfect for a quiet week of relaxation, always spotless and comfortable, and the smart TV is a great new addition if you want a quiet night in while you're there! Thanks Marthese!

A truly fantastic home and an equally fantastic host in Anton! We, a family of 8, made up of children, parents and grandparents, have just had the most amazing stay in Anton’s beautiful home. The house is even better than the photos suggest, a real wow factor as you walk in. It comes nicely furnished with very comfortable beds and furniture, and the house is equipped extremely well with everything you could possibly need. Each room has its own character and charm, then you step outside into pool area and garden and the wow factor continues! We spent a lot of time here, it’s an amazing space and so private. The location in Xaghra is ideal with a few minutes stroll to the village square, a little gem filled with enough varied cafés, bars and small restaurants to keep all tastes satisfied. I must say Al Sale stood out. Then there’s Anton, who greeted and took time to show us around explaining how everything works. He’s the best host I’ve encountered, a friendly, kind and funny gentleman.

Lovely place, the location was very good, perfect little and private pool yard. Isa and Jean Paul was very easy and nice to communicate with. The place is located close to a bustop making it very easy to get around Malta

We stayed in four properties during our trip to Malta & Gozo. This was by far the most professional and communicative host with the highest standard. The property has been cleverly thought through- from potato peelers and cheese graters to deckchairs- they are excellent quality. You are made to feel that you are valued and the host has not provided you with cheap utensils. The finish overall was amazing. It was well stocked with everything- indoor and pool towels. The tv is easy to use- we got Amazon Prime working easily. The pool is gorgeous and very peaceful. We felt safe as a family of four and found getting places using Bolt no problem.
