Beachfront apt. - 45min from Athens

Comfortable apartment steps from the beach located in the picturesque fishing village of Nea Artaki. The apartment sleeps 4 people - there's a qeen bed in the bedroom and a couch that opens up into a queen bed in the living room. There is one bathroom, which has recently been redone. There is also clothes washing machine in the bathroom. There is a full kitchen (oven, fridge, freezer and all cooking utensils). Nea Artaki is a 10 minute drive from Chalkida, the capital of Evia, and a 1 hour and 15 minute drive from the Athens airport. Evia is connected to the mainland by suspension bridge - no need for ferries or internal flights. The town is full of local taverns serving fresh fish and local cuisine and lively cafes line the coast. There is a beautiful view of the marina & beach from the apartment's large balcony. All conviences are within walking distance from the apartment (convenient store, atms, supermarket, bakery, etc). There is a bread delivery truck that delivers fresh bread to the apartment building daily. If you enjoy cooking & don't mind waking up early you can buy the fish yourself from the fisherman who unload each morning at the marina. There is also a weekly town market selling fresh fruits/vegetables/fish - a ten minute walk from the apartment. A car is a must in order to explore the beautiful beaches in the vicinity. The beach in front of the apartment is small with a couple of umbrellas and draws the locals who go for their daily swim. A 15 minute drive away is a more organized beach with many bar/cafes that offer service, music, water sports, and a more lively scene on the weekends. There are several other beautiful and quiet beaches within a 15 minute drive from the apartment. There are also cultural and recreational activies in the area: museums, archeological sites, wineries, horseback riding, tennis, wind/kite surfing, hiking, biking. For nightlife and shopping a ten minute drive to the island's capital, Chalkida, is your best bet. During the month of August the town organizes cultural events at the port ranging from traditional music & greek dancing to the yearly fish festival. The location is also convenient for day trips to Athens as the apartment is only an hour away by car or public transportation. This is a great place to enjoy an authentic Greek experience amongst the locals.
