Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the music world turned its spotlight on Seattle, where bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam were blowing minds and speakers with grunge rock. I'll guide you around my neighborhood, the epicenter for this music scene. • We'll meet up at Bon Voyage Vintage, my store, where you'll have a chance to dress up in the fashion of the grunge era, and I'll talk about how the Seattle grunge scene erupted. • Then we'll embark on a walking tour of Pioneer Square, stopping in at grunge landmarks like the OK Hotel, featured in the 1992 film Singles, and the Central Saloon, the site of Nirvana’s first Seattle show. • We'll also stop at Nord Alley, where we'll re-create a famous Nirvana photo with you in your flannel shirt and ripped jeans. Before we part ways, I'll give you a map of more Seattle rock landmarks so you can continue to explore grunge history.

Check out Seattle’s thriving indie comics scene on an immersive tour of the Georgetown neighborhood with the artists and owners of Paper Press Punch, and design and print your own mini-comic. We welcome all skill levels and ages—we’ve hosted participants as young as five! • Start at Paper Punch Press for an introduction and guided exploration of Short Run Comix Festival’s library, featuring alternative comics, small press, and self-published artists from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. • Create your own mini-comic with our expert guidance, and print it using our special Risograph printers, which use a stencil-based method that delivers rich colors and a handmade feel. • Stroll down to renowned comic book store Fantagraphics for a guided shopping experience with owner Larry Reid, where you’ll browse rare, independent, and iconic comics while hearing stories from this legendary curator. You’ll leave with your unique DIY comic, deep insights into the independent comic world in Seattle, and new creative skills to use at home.

We will be meeting at the beautiful makerspace and shop Makerspace Sellwood in Portland, Oregon. • Begin by looking at my collages and discussing techniques, from selecting source material to layering and composition. Choose from a selection of maps, travel guides, local magazines, and vintage photos to craft a piece that reflects your time in Portland. • Chat about the places you’ve explored, using conversation to inspire image selection. I’ll offer guidance and feedback as you piece together your collage, encouraging a collaborative and engaging creative space. • All materials are provided, along with tea or kombucha to enjoy as we create. We’ll wrap up by sharing our finished work, reflecting on the creative process, and taking home a one-of-a-kind collage that captures your Portland experience.

Take a personalized tour of iconic LGBTQIA+ landmark businesses along Vancouver’s Commercial Drive with me, an artist and owner of the gayest lil’ gift shop in all the land. The Drive is a multicultural and bohemian street that hosts the annual Dyke March. • I’ll kick off by distributing the highly coveted and detailed Vancouver Gay Map before introducing you to the owners of Womyns’ Ware, a women-owned sex-positive shop. • Take a snack break at Elbo Jamaican Patties—which works with Black and queer communities in Vancouver—before migrating to the floral shop Studio Full Bloom. • Browse the deep selection at Mintage Commercial Drive, Vancouver’s largest vintage clothing store, and then JQ Clothing for fun gender-inclusive outfits. You’ll leave with insider tips on queer Vancouver’s hidden gems, and a secret map to guide your future adventures in the neighborhood.

Fragrance Design Workshop

We’ll introduce you to the process and materials that comprise fragrance creation. We'll spend about half the workshop smelling our way through a selection of about 50 raw ingredients, while discussing fragrance and blending techniques. You'll spend the remainder of the workshop developing and blending your own fragrance, with tips and pointers along the way. After this, you'll turn your fragrance into a 10mL oil-based roll-on personal fragrance. You’ll take home your very own scent creation compounded and mixed into a 10mL roll-on bottle of perfume. Other things to note: - Avoid wearing strong fragrances to this workshop as it may disrupt yours' and others' olfactory experience. - Please note we do require one reservation per person; due to the involved nature of this workshop we cannot accommodate extra guests without reservations - Occasionally we run a tad long, please let us know upon arrival if you have a hard out at 3pm! **We will be taking a short hiatus from workshops starting mid-April. Come and spend a day at a farm and make art! We are a woman owned organic farm located near the Sandy River. We have converted a century old dairy barn into a ceramic studio. Let’s spend the day playing with clay and learning together. Here we have options based around your skill level and interests. I can lead you on the potters wheel or in hand building techniques. For an additional cost of $25 per person I will fire your projects in my kiln and you can choose a glaze color for your finished pieces. You can choose to pick up a couple weeks after your booking or pay to have your pieces shipped. Ever been interested in trying your hand at blowing glass? Join me in my flameworking studio and learn how to make your first piece of glass art at Chadly Glass Studio! I’m a professional borosilicate glass blower with over 10 years of experience and offer hands-on, beginner's classes in inner SE Portland. In this introductory group class, students will be taught basic glass blowing safety, skills, and will have the opportunity to create 2-3 pieces of glass art: a mushroom sculpture, wine bottle stopper or pendant, and a small blown ornament. This class may be shared with other individuals (up to 6 participants per class). Class duration is approximately 3 hours. Students get to keep any glass they create, and gain knowledge and hands-on experience in a very unique field. *Glass made during lesson will require kilning for durability, which takes a minimum of 4 hours. Most students choose to pick up the glass they made the next day (or at their earliest convenience).* ** Participants are required to sign a liability waiver prior to instruction. Volcanoes and floods, natives and shipwrecks, explorers and pioneers. Legendary women, diverse ancestry, and an unknown world influence. "amazing tour guide, driver, and host" ~K A cedar shingle town. Wind spinners, saltwater taffy, brewpubs and seagulls. A secret path to the beach. "Haystack," points the guide. You walk closer. Pacific breakers roll in around rocks looming along shore. An old couple strolls, hands held. Kids dig a sandcastle, and kites fly. Dogs run with unleashed joy. "Keep an eye on the ocean," reminds the guide. A surfer rides a wave. Whales pass the lighthouse. You find a hidden cove of sea caves, driftwood and tide pools. Walk around Portland to explore its soul

Where has Portland come from, where is it going? Why has it come into national attention? Get introduced to Portland's soul with a walk through the downtown's core, starting with parks and art museums and the decisions that led to what the city looks like today. From cast iron-fronted buildings to the grandly disastrous post-modern Portland Building, much of Portland's history can be told through the buildings and street layouts; most importantly, the prioritization of parks throughout the city center. How did the city's early urban planners decide on their layouts? How do modern designers look at the past and plan for the future? Who are the people these streets are named for? What's with all the roses? It's not a dry history: full of back-room deals, early deaths and greed; and then there were hippies! We won't stop at the history from the books and the museums, but we'll lead you into the present, looking at what brought the city to its modern conflicts, racial justice protests, the tension between Portlanders and their mayor (no matter who holds the office), and how the city has changed to fit the pandemic and the forces which will shape its immediate future. We'd be remiss without letting this lead into food! So we'll end the tour by offering food recommendations in the center city.

Spring-Summer photo session in Seattle

If you are looking to explore the beautiful Seattle view and get amazing pictures in the process, you should look no further. The University of Washington is a vibrant campus for a good walk and amazing pictures. It dates back to the 1890s. We will meet at the Drumheller fountain. The Sylvan Grove theater and columns are right nearby so we can get some amazing pictures then we will head to the Cherry blossoms at the quad. With the hope of clear skies, we can get the view of Mt Rainier from the red square and Drumheller fountain on the way to the cherry blossoms. We will then make our way down to the Sakuma Viewpoint to enjoy the Portage bay beach view. The experience will end after 1.5 hours and almost 2 miles, by Sakuma Viewpoint on Boat Street. Other things to note If you are driving, the best and cheapest place to park is on Boat Street where street parking is cheap and usually available. That is also where we will end our session.
