“We enjoyed our stay at Casa Estrela and it was a perfect night stop over between Johannesburg and Xai Xai. Net time we come we will have to stay longer. The house was spotlessly clean and there were staff to help us when we arrived. Lovely view from the house and nice to have a swimming pool to cool down after a long drive. Anton was a great host and communicated very well. Thanks”

“We couldn’t have been happier with our accommodation. We arrived to such friendly and helpful staff at the reception, discovered just how amazing the house was in real life, and met that gem of a man Reg who is a big part of the reason we would return. The house is exactly as you see in the pictures, no hidden unwelcome surprises! Except you don’t get a sense of the space around you until you are there: it’s all those double-volume ceilings that do it. We were 9 people together for 2 weeks and not once did it feel like we got in each others hair, which might happen in accommodation with a smaller living space. The decor was so cleverly done: a combination of beach house and rural Mozambique. Having extra towel rails all over was very useful for all those beach towels, and the outdoor shower kept most of the beach sand, well, outdoors! We were thrilled to have air conditioning, what a difference that made when the weather just got too hot. We enjoyed the fact that the house was up a hill because we had an elevated view over the water. It helped the spear fishermen in the group to evaluate the water before setting out. It also meant we normally had a breeze up there, away from the dusty road and away from unwelcome prying eyes of passers by. It was so private. We all love good food and so the dishwasher was kept busy, we really enjoyed having it available, and having 3 fridges was a complete winner! Reginaldo (Reg) is a national treasure! So friendly and helpful all the way through the 2 weeks. He’s part of the reason we would return in a heartbeat, apart from the beautiful facilities. He handled all the housekeeping and even hung our laundry up that we put in the machine. The guys loved him for his knowledge of the sea and the fishing / spearfishing spots. He even went spearing with my hubby on one occasion when asked. He opened our oysters and cleaned our mussels, gutted fish and prepared our crayfish. All the banal tasks that come with enjoying seafood 😉 Including cleaning the gas braai the next morning! Just be sure to tip him well if you ask him to do all these extras. He’s more than willing and extremely capable, but I’m sure it’s not in his job description! We would definitely visit again!”

“I had an amazing holiday at the View. Want to say thank you to Suzanne for being so helpful over WhatsApp, and for all the good tips and advise from when I booked all the way to the end of our visit, want to say thank you to Laura and Phillip for keeping the house clean, the braai clean, carrying our bags, showing us where the shops were in town, and helping around the house, organizing us charcoal. Also want to say thanks to two locals who were also a huge help, Iphraham and 12 year old boy who helped us on day one to find a place close to the view to get the basic groceries for day one so we did not have to drive back to town, and Pedro who help us for the rest of our stay arranging fresh sea food, and buying us some basic groceries so we did not have to drive to town daily like fresh rolls, Tipo Tinto, etc, and bring some local items to us to purchase as gift or for ourselves and homes. The venue was amazing, with a panoramic view of the beach, aircon, and everything you would need to make it a home away from home. Some tips for those who are booking this venue. If you traveling by normal car remember to have you tyres deflated just before you reach the end of Xai Xai town there is a tyre place just before the end of town who will help you at a small cost. I drove the beach road several times during our stay and only got stuck once, and was surprised at how easy it was to get out by reversing and a little push from the front by two people. If you need the help Pedro provide please get his contact details from Suzanne when there. Its super hot so make sure you take a lot of sun block and put it on regularly through the day. Make sure to take a walk to the abandon hotel on the beach its about 30 min walk to get there and 30 walk back and try do it early morning when the sun starts rising or before the sun sets. Also go explore the reef during low tide. If you want to go deep sea fishing make sure to contact Lance from Blue Dolphin and do not leave it till last minute like we did, as you never know how the weather will be and wether it will be suitable weather to go out for the day.”
