The tortillas here are ah-mazing. Really great flavor in the tacos. Often during peak hours the line is insane. They have a great patio but I prefer eating indoors. Very casual and great prices.

I like taking out of town guest here or folks who have not been to Echo Park. It's such a huge 'wow' type of place. They have good pizzas and 50 kinds of beer. See and be seen.

Hmmmmm... Great location and design... often there's many dogs (and much commotion with everyone yelling after their pooch ) so maybe not the most relaxing place. Fun though.

Ground zero for Hipsters! Wait on line for 20 minutes then 10 minutes more for your 'hand crafted' coffee. Pay 5$ for it. THEN... sit and watch it all and revel in it. It's really, really fun.

Very popular and very charming... mostly outdoor seating. Every dish seems to be $12, but it's all good. On a beautiful day it's nice to sit and have your lunch.

Pho Cafe

Mmmmmm noodles. The vegetarian #9 is the best. An old stand-by at this point... eat here when you want that 'comfort food' bowl of warm noodles.

Cafe Stella

Very French, very pricey, very trendy. They just added a new front bar - good luck getting served - but the older cozy back bar will remind you of Paris... or, at least it does to me.

This is a crazy fun place! I think the food is "ok"... it's a really fun place to drink. The staff here is kooky and festive. It's a scene!

The deep-dish pizza is really great... order it ahead cause it takes 45 minutes. Good food and a very casual vibe. Can get crowded at times.

The Varnish

One of my favorite bars downtown. The cocktails are like potions and the atmosphere is like a step back in time 80 years.

Old school place that attracts the old-timer locals and hipsters alike. Bring your parents... or go with friends and pretend you ARE your parents. Good food! Has entertainment on certain nights.

I love Forage. The food reminds me of what I would cook if i were a chef... simple ingredients, great seasoning and amazing taste! Can get crowded peak hours... closed on Monday.

Great wine and always a fun crowd... it can be somewhat of a "meatrack" at times with all the beautiful people 'on the make'. Lonely? Go here. Great vibe.

THE SALAD. THE SALAD. THE SALAD.... is soooo good. Great food if a bit on the funky side, decor-wise.

Elysian Park

Elysian Park close to the apartment and yet worlds away. Some parts are 'wild' and there are many roads and paths for walking if you're not feeling too adventurous. Really, really great for walks.

Art gallery equivalent for organic food. Pricey yet high quality... a definite splurge. C'mon, you're worth it.

This is a GREAT place to grab a beer. Not too loud, very low-key and many kinds of beer. You can buy beer to take home in the adjoining store.

El Prado

Another fun beer and wine bar. Something about this reminds me of the '70's... maybe it's the turntable behind the bar where they spin a whole album.

Walgreens... so close when you need to pick up that drugstore item.

While I'm not crazy about the owners of this stores politics... I do like going here for clothes and household goods. There's often a good "find" and the prices are pretty cheap.

Amazing produce and fish counter. Super inexpensive. I have no idea what some of the things they sell are, but, it's all super fresh and totally astounding in scope.

Who knew the Police Academy could be so much fun? There's a coffee shop here and also a great outdoor patio you can hang out on - with a waterfall!

My place is in Angeleno Heights. Carroll Street is the "premiere" historical street with a few blocks of pristine Victorian homes. Walk over here and see what life looked like 100 years ago.
