Very cool, huge book and record store. The upstairs labyrinth is definitely something to see; includes various art galleries/vendors. You can find great used books and records for very cheap here.

At this local brewery, you can taste the beers, hang out in a friendly environment, see their art gallery and occasional live music, and eat something delicious from food trucks parked there nightly.

One of the only true speakeasies in LA, they have secret after-hours drinking. If you want to get in, you'll have to ask me for the password. Food is also good + karaoke nightly.

You HAVE to see the iconic Santa Monica Pier while in LA. It's across town but if you can get there for under $10 (ask me how). Do Santa Monica early and then head to Venice in the afternoon.

Local improve theatre. The shows are short, sweet, and hilarious. They serve beer/wine and everything (including tickets) is very affordable. A great first-stop of the night to get everyone laughing.
