The Mahogany Bar at Wilton's is a really fabulous space with great drinks and a wonderful magical atmosphere. Duncan and I got married in Wilton's and the Mahogany bar is our favourite part.

Spitalfields is vibrant and 10mins walk from the flat. The best day to go is Sunday when all the market traders and fashionistas have their stalls set up: you can often get quirky London memorablia.

Ping Pong is a must go place on a Sunday! The all you can eat deal for £20 is great but you have to take the walk home slowly!

Everybody loves Waitrose. If you are very lazy you can drive + park in the underground car park. Otherwise it is a 4 minute walk from the flat. It is a large Waitrose and is sure to have most things.

One of the best places to go along the river on a sunny day for a nice drink. Get there early if you want to get a sunny table outside!

You can't visit London without visiting the Tower! Check out the beefeaters in their red coats that guard the Tower, and the ravens which protect it. The Crown Jewels are also worth a look!

ALWAYS ask and see if Cirilo HIMSELF is cooking. If he is, ask him what specials he has available. Cirilo provides some of the best food that we have ever eaten and is very reasonably priced indeed.

We love Red Chilli because of the great curry, though you might expect this in the East End, but it also has great atmosphere and wonderful staff such as Rajon, Khalid and Liek. Reasonably priced.

Wine Library is great for a buffett lunch of cheeses and bread accompanied by some great wine. The characters that run it are quite eccentric and that all adds to the experience for me.

On the guidebook so hopefully people can see that it is a straight road along Shorter Street, Royal Mint Street, Cable Street (with a little turn into Ensign Street and Graces Alley) to the flat.

Very lively on a Thursday and Friday night

I love Leadenhall Market. Many scenes in Harry Potter were filmed here and it has some lovely non-chain eateries. It is less than 10 mins walk from the flat.

Cable News and Mart is the closest place to buy groceries to the flat. Surprisingly, though small, it is often cheaper than Tesco and has a good selection of goods.

We like Strada (though in St Katharine Docks we find you can't beat Zizzi because of the location). Remember to download a special offer before you go as you can usually get a substantial discount.

1 local Airbnb host recommends

The views are spectacular. We love going to Zizzi's. Remember to download a special offer before you go and it often works out half price or less on the food.

Cafe Rouge is great for breakfasts and lunches - French cosmopolitan food.

Tesco is about 5 mins walk from the flat if you need a Tesco's! It's only a small one but it does the job and is easy on the way back from the tube.

It's picturesque to walk over Tower Bridge, through Potter's Fields and nip through More London place or Hays Galleria to get to London Bridge station.

Closest bus stop to the house for buses going over Tower Bridge to London Bridge Station. RV1 tourist bus takes you to London Eye, London Dungeons, South Bank; ends at the Aldwych in theatreland.

6 local Airbnb hosts recommend

On the map so people can navigate to and from the flat. I prefer going from this station if I am headed towards Baker Street as there is normally a train waiting in the station and I can get a seat.

Personally I prefer Red Chilli and find The Empress a little like a shop with its bright lighting. That said the curry is just as good as in Red Chilli.

Closest bus stop to the flat for buses going to the West End on the tourist route. The route is Tower Hill, Monument, Mansion House, St Paul's Cathedral, theatreland, Covent Garden, Trafalgar Sq etc.

1 local Airbnb host recommends

Closest bus stop to the flat for buses to Oxford Street. It is much quicker than the 15 as the route is straighter. It goes through Bank, St. Paul's, Holborn, Chancery Lane, Soho + Oxford Circus
