Not to be missed! A whole street full of curry houses! Remember to negotiate before you go in, you can usually get a discount or a free bottle of wine (though better to bring your own!)

Another fantastic place for a drink in the sun along the river - you have to get there early to get a nice table in the sun! Very evocative and you can see the noose where they used to hang criminals

Borough Market is on Fridays and Saturdays. Not to be missed, lots of artisan foods like olives and cheeses and organic food and vegetables. Lots of lovely eateries around the fringes of the market.

One of the best places to go along the river on a sunny day for a nice drink. Get there early if you want to get a sunny table outside!

The Mahogany Bar at Wilton's is a really fabulous space with great drinks and a wonderful magical atmosphere. Duncan and I got married in Wilton's and the Mahogany bar is our favourite part.

Spitalfields is vibrant and 10mins walk from the flat. The best day to go is Sunday when all the market traders and fashionistas have their stalls set up: you can often get quirky London memorablia.

A great touristy bar in the picturesque St Katharine Docks. Worth a sunny afternoon drink.

Very trendy bowling alley with a 60s vibe. You can also hire a private room for karaoke which is pretty awesome!

The Krays pub, if that is your kind of thing.

Should be good signtseeing to look at the pirate ships but there is never anyone there... so it can be a bit of an odd experience!

Often free entertainment here at the weekends in the ampitheatre. It is right next door to the Artichoke (London Assembly building) and worth a look.

Ping Pong is a must go place on a Sunday! The all you can eat deal for £20 is great but you have to take the walk home slowly!

A lively new bar that has opened. Very nice and smart. Seems to do a lot of quizzes.

Nice but expensive/up market Indian Restaurant - they have a nice heated garden area out the back which I would prefer to eat in though in general would prefer to have Red Chilli.

Nice up market pub.

Ask for the Mayor at Breakfast Cafe. Don't order drinks otherwise you will wait until you finish them to enter... The bar is hidden behind the fridge... busy at peak times - get there < 8pm

On the map so people can navigate to and from the flat. I prefer going from this station if I am headed towards Baker Street as there is normally a train waiting in the station and I can get a seat.

Iconic London landmark. You can see it from the back balcony but it's much better up close!

Everybody loves Waitrose. If you are very lazy you can drive + park in the underground car park. Otherwise it is a 4 minute walk from the flat. It is a large Waitrose and is sure to have most things.

Personally I prefer Red Chilli and find The Empress a little like a shop with its bright lighting. That said the curry is just as good as in Red Chilli.

A great bar for a walk along the Thames, great views over HMS Belfast. Gets very busy! Map is a bit misleading, it is on the riverfront.

ALWAYS ask and see if Cirilo HIMSELF is cooking. If he is, ask him what specials he has available. Cirilo provides some of the best food that we have ever eaten and is very reasonably priced indeed.

We love Red Chilli because of the great curry, though you might expect this in the East End, but it also has great atmosphere and wonderful staff such as Rajon, Khalid and Liek. Reasonably priced.

Nearest hospital in the event of non-critical medical incident (in an emergency you should call 999 for an ambulance). Access from Whitechapel. You could go to A&E or the Whitechapel Walk-in centre.

A really different museum experience - worth a look!
