Tips from locals
Enjoy some of the many walking tracks in the Redwoods or up Te Mata Peak, or drive to the top and take in the 360 degree view.
An amazing view of Hawkes Bay. You can drive right up to the top or park at the bottom and hike up one of the many tracks to the top.
At the top of the peak, you’ll find breathtaking views of green rolling hills and a ton of great hiking spots.
Great place to sightsee, and also a great forest walk for those who are keen. They have beginners and intermediate tracks. Also great place for mountain biking.
Drive to the top to enjoy the stunning view or park at the base and enjoy a walk to the redwoods then, if you are energetic, continue walking to the top. Our favourite route to top from redwoods is the "goat track" (blue). Don't forget your camera!

“The museum in Napier is well worth a visit. You can learn about Maori history and culture as well as more recent events like the 1931 earthquake and the rebuilding of Napier and Hastings in the Art Deco style. It's not a big museum but has some interesting stuff.”
