About this place
Since opening in January 2006, Hot Suppa has served comfort Southern fare to the Portland community in our casual cozy dining room, and on our private patio in the warmer months. Our cooking draws inspiration from our favorite BBQ joints, coastal fish frys, soul food, meat & threes, Cajun, Creole, and new-Southern restaurants from across the South. The bar offers a full selection of craft cocktails, wine and draft local beers, as well as espresso drinks and kombucha. Hot Suppa is open daily for breakfast and lunch, and Tuesday-Saturday for dinner, which features $1.50 oysters on the half shell.
Tips from locals
Go for happy hour. The ribs are great. Don't forget to save room for the bread pudding.
Definitely try to get the Waffle Plate. I would suggest avoiding coming here on a weekend as the wait tends to be one hour or longer.
One of our favorite brunch spots in town! Be prepared for a wait, but it's worth it. Friendly staff, delicious cocktails, and amazing, southern classics. Our favorite item is the Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict - with a Bloody Mary of course!
Hot Suppa is a breakfast/brunch institution in Portland, that you should absolutely visit if you can. Waits for a table quickly get up to 45 minutes for breakfast on the weekends, so go extra early or on a weekday if you don't want to wait.

“You've probably already heard of Eventide because it's the most highly rated place in Portland, in this case believe the hype. There will most likely be a long wait, so prepare for that before you go, it's worth it. If you're visiting in the off season and visit at unusual hours you may get lucky enough to be seated immediately (it's happened to us a couple of times). You must try the brown butter lobster roll, you won't regret it. They also have a killer late night happy hour if you need a bite after drinking in the Old Port.”
