Fort Washington is located across the Potomac, but you can stop and view it from our side of the river. Very impressive! There is also a small historical marker, vignette with more information.

Fort Washington is located only 10 minute away. It was for many decades the only defensive fort protecting Washington D.C. The original fort, overlooking the Potomac River, was completed in 1809. This historical marker offers hiking/bicycle paths and river view, are a scenic venue for picnicking, fishing, and outdoor recreation.
