The Bergen House of Literature hosts regular public events with a focus on the written and spoken word, such as readings, book launches, debates and much else. It also has a really good cafe and restaurant, the Colonialen.

Colonialen in Litteraturhuset (the literature house) is a nice place to eat both breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located in "Skostredet" which is a hip street with some vintage shops, bars and restaurants.

“"The Blue Stone" is just a piece of art - blue ceramic tiles - which quickly became the place where people meet: "We'll meet at the Blue Stone at 8!" Just stop there for a while and watch all the locals sitting there, waiting for their friends. The surrounding square is also worth a study. Every ethnic group in Bergen seems to have its own designated area. Just find a bench, eat a "skillingsbolle" (cinnamon bun) and watch Bergen's inner life:)”
