“A great day out for all the family, an amazing insight into Scotland's past coupled with fantastic views over Edinburgh and the surrounding area. In the castle you will find "Mons Meg" this siege cannon can shoot a 330 pound stone almost 2 miles - now days it just gets fired to tell us its 1 o'clock everyday. You will also find Scotland's Crown Jewels and be amazed by the architecture of the castle that has been built on top of a dormant volcano. You will not be disappointed with the castle and all it has to offer.”

“A little closer to the centre than Arthurs Seat, Carlton Hill offers similar fantastic panorama views over Edinburgh and the surrounding area. A bit easier to get to the top too and walking distance from the flat. Take a picnic if its a nice day and enjoy the views. ”
