Fort Worden is right in the City of Port Townsend. A wonderful beach, a marine science center, hiking trails, campground, conference center, host to music festivals through Centrum and much more. My favorite place to walk. If you don't have a State Park Pass, you can park for free in front of the…

No visit to Port Townsend would be complete without a trip (or two or three) to Fort Worden. There is a great lower area where you can walk on the beach. And an upper area where you can walk around and see all the gun-bunkers and other artifacts leftover from World War II. There are a couple…

Gorgeous beaches and also walking trails in the woods. This Ft was an active army fort and in the early 20th century the army built a series of bunkers into the hill overlooking the straits of Juan de Fuca as a defensive measure. Now you can explore these old buildings and underground spaces so…

“This is one of our favorite places to eat and drink. Great beers on taps (including local ones), and awesome pub food. Best burgers in town. Great fish and chips. And beautiful view from deck with outside seating. This is a 21-and-over place, so no kids. During the summer, it can get busy and the deck fills up. The servers here work hard and are great, but when they are slammed, food can be a bit slower to come out. (A good reason for a second beer!) There is live music many nights, as well as Open-Mike on Wednesday, and karaoke on Thursdays.”

“If you are in the mood for a movie, this is the place. It also has AWESOME popcorn with a variety of toppings available. (You can just go in and buy the popcorn, if you want and there is not a crowd in the lobby.) Lots of interesting special showings on the weekend, including old movies and plays.”

“Absolutely awesome place to grab a beer and sit outside, basically on the beach if you want. This is a favorite of locals, especially during the summer season when other places attract lots of out of town visitors. But, don't worry, if someone figures out your not a local, they will still be nice. ”

“If I had to suggest one thing you should not miss, it would be the Farmer's Market on Saturday. Not only is there lots of locally grown and sourced food, but also some amazingly tasty prepared food to eat right there, from paella, to crab cakes, to brats on a bun. ”
