The takeaway café at Brean Down is perfect for picking up something tasty to enjoy on a walk along the beach or Somerset’s greatest natural pier with dramatic cliffs and far-reaching views.

An hour away by car (be careful of Bristol traffic rush hour and Fridays as its off the M5 on the way to Cornwall). National trust beach.

This part of the beach is rocky, explore the rock pools, the cafe and bird garden.

A beautiful stretch of beach on the north coast of Somerset. Dog friendly.

Our favourite beach near Bristol. Its about a 55 minute drive but worth it if you want a day on a nice beach. Check the tide times because at high tide there is not much beach and a low tide hardly any water! We go the the north end of the beach by Brean Down - there is a cafe there but also an area where cars are not allowed on the sand. Climb the steps up Brean Down walk along to see the fort and ancient settlements. You can also access the Beach from St Mary's Church further South - usually very quiet round there but no facilities.
