Tips from locals
This is a beautiful park along the Deschutes river. Most certainly is the starting point for a lazy float in a calm section of the river that passes through the Old Mill district. In the summer heat, this is most welcome to cool off and have a great time.
Wonderful walking trails all around the Old Mill with beautifully maintained parks along the river.
Easy Hike with beautiful scenery of the Deschutes River. Hop on a flotation device and float down the river, a must in Bend.

“You have not visited Bend unless you have floated the river. It is a past time of this town, and it is a great way to spend time in this awesome town! Rent a float, park your car at Drake Park or Riverbend and take the shuttle to or from. Don't walk around the rapids! Ride the lightning!”

“If you go into Bend, this is a good place for a hike. There are two trails that take you up to the top of Pilot Butte where you can see just about everything in Central Oregon. You can also drive to top if you don't feel like making the hike. It is free to access for everyone and a great place for pictures. ”
