The space
It is located on the northern shore of Lake General Carrera, approximately 120 km southeast of the region's capital, Coyhaique.

This beautiful land was inhabited thousands of years ago by indigenous canoers, the Aonikenks, who left unique remains on their land; cave paintings; some dating back to 7,000 years of age.

Puerto Ibáñez is also a strategic point when it comes to exploring Patagonia. It is located on the nearest shore of Lake General Carrera from the Southern Highway access point. It has the barge to travel to Chile Chico on a tour that crosses Lake General Carrera, which allows you to admire the different colors of water, islets, birds and the Levican peninsula. And approximately 30 km from the cabins you will find the Palaviccini Pass to go to Perito Moreno.

The town of Pto. Ibáñez is the seat of the I. Municipality of Rio Ibáñez, a municipality that also includes the towns of Villa Cerro Castillo, Levicán, Bahía Murta, Pto. Quiet (where the famous Marble Cathedrals are located) and Pto. Sanchez. It has approximately 800 inhabitants and has a Health Post (nurse on duty), school, post office, municipal offices, fire station, drinking water, electricity, telephony; several businesses that mainly sell food and household goods, bakery, butchers, call center, rubber, sale of fuels and liquefied gas, among others.

Puerto Ibáñez is well known for its craftsmanship, highlighting the greda "cacharros”, and their lined in goat leather. These are made according to the way of the Tehuelches, who used to inhabit this valley. Only in the village can you visit several artisan shops and buy these products. In addition to the roughage, there are also craftsmen who do utilitarian work and leather ornaments, such as reins, horse ties, bowlers (indigenous art), knives, fiber baskets and others.
