Crabbing under the Golden Gate Bridge
We will meet at a pier in the Marina/Presidio district of San Francisco where we will be located near the Golden Gate Bridge. The views of the water will be spectacular and because of the size of the pier we will have more than enough room to spread out and try our techniques. Make sure to arrive early so you can find parking and pay for it if need be near The Warming Hut cafe. Once all the guests have arrived we will learn to set up the equipment we will supply with a very detailed explanation of how and why we use particular gear. Once we have set up our rods, filled our bait in our traps we will learn the different forms of casting and the technique of reeling. Because we are fishing for crab there is a different approach to how you catch crab off of a rod and reel. We will not be allowed to take home any Dungeness crab, unfortunately, because the Bay is a protected estuary. As a result we will be catching rock & red crab which are edible and delicious crabs to take home. This experience is an all weather endeavor so rain or shine we will make it happen. Please join me as many others have to see if spending an afternoon out on the waterfront of the bay, meeting new people and learning a skill is right for you! Great for big groups, corporate outings and team building exercises! Please inquire directly if you have 10+ people www.theartofcrabbing.com

Pottery in the Mission
We will start with some of the interesting history of the studio space. Then I will get you situated on the wheel and show you how to properly secure your lump of clay. After the clay is secured we start the wheel spinning nice and fast. I will show you how to center the clay which is a very important (and frustrating) stage of making pottery on the wheel. After we successfully center the clay, you will explore how the clay moves and reacts to your touch. We will work to form a simple shape such as a bowl or cup. To finish off we will do some clean up of the form and remove the piece from the wheel in order to start experimenting with the next piece. You can expect to get to practice with around 6 lumps of clay (more if you are ambitious) and most people will create 2-3 pieces by the end of the session. Pieces will be professionally finished, fired, and glazed after the experience. This process takes at least 3 weeks. After the pieces are finished you can pickup in the studio or they can be shipped. Shipping costs are paid by the guest. Other things to note Come wearing clothes that you don't mind getting messy. We will provide aprons. If you have long hair plan to have a hair tie or a way to secure your hair back. Trim long nails if you are able.

Hidden Stairways of San Francisco
Please note: this walk is not at all strenuous. Obviously there's some stairs but this is done at a leisurely pace and suitable for almost everyone. Great for families, friends and ideal for groups, company off-sites and team-building. This breathtaking 2 mile walking tour of San Francisco's hidden stairways is the #1 rated Airbnb Experience in the Bay Area, loved by both locals and tourists alike. See gorgeous mosaic tiled steps and hear the stories behind them, then take in stunning 360° views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park and downtown San Francisco. You'll also discover beautiful neighborhoods and gardens that many locals are not aware of and that tourists rarely see. Oh, and you might even go home with a succulent! I'll provide commentary, context and some history along the way. By booking this tour you are helping preserve and maintain these gorgeous stairs as I make annual donations to both projects. Generally SF is dry May-October. There can be fog in the summertime, mostly in the morning. Temps rarely above 70F (21C) or below 50F (10C). Rain may cancel. It will be necessary to carry small children as strollers are not suitable. The Surreal San Francisco Walking Tour
PLEASE NOTE: this is NOT a regular walking tour. It’s an edgy, outrageous, uniquely-San Franciscan experience. Have a few laughs with storyteller-extraordinaire Clyde Always, the Bard of Bay City, former headliner at these local venues: the Marsh Theater, the Lost Church and Café International on Haight. You’ll be dazzled by many of Clyde’s own modern MYTHS, LEGENDS, FABLES and FAIRYTALES. They may feature witches & pirates, hobos & hipster-devils... Make sure you bring your imagination. In between these zany stories, your host will be pointing out various dives, murals, coffeehouses, landmarks, shops and stunning Victorians—no shortage of grammable photo-ops, here. Miles away from the rest of the tourists, you’ll get some insider knowledge of three of the City’s hippest neighborhoods—the Mission, the Castro and the Haight. Looking for fun things to do and delicious things to eat? Clyde’s got the hot tips. BE WARNED! Your host is a fast-talker and he may tell you a few phony “facts.” Take anything he says with a grain of salt. If you’re offended by profanity, soap will be provided (but bring your own water). Scared of heights? Rest easy—the route involves no hill climbing! This stroll is guaranteed to entertain, enliven and uplift both visitors and locals alike. **Please, for PRIVATE GROUPS, DM to check availability before booking. **

As we approach our final hour, we head to a local tea shop and learn about the role of tea in traditional Chinese medicine with a 30-minute tasting. Mushroom Hunting on the Redwood Coast
We’ll meet at UC Santa Cruz’s Core West parking structure. I’ll introduce you to the local area and explain our goals for the day. I’ll have my favorite field guides available for you to peruse as well as real specimens of local mushrooms. I’ll explain the intricacies of mushroom identification and hunting safety before we get going. You’ll be able to use the restroom and fill up your water bottle as well. The hike is mild/moderate with some up hill, totaling about 2.5 miles. Guests should be comfortable hiking off pavement. We will hunt on UCSC’s forested campus, hiking around for roughly 2.5 hours. I will point out the local flora and fauna we come across. I will help you identify the mushrooms we encounter and teach you about the role fungi play in the ecosystem. Hopefully, we will find safe edible or medicinal fungi for you to take home. I will also teach you how to recognize toxic and poisonous species of mushrooms in order to avoid them. You’ll have a lot of fun and walk away with new skills at a minimum. If we’re lucky, you’ll forage some ingredients to cook an impressive dinner later. PLEASE NOTE: I cannot guarantee good weather or abundant mushrooms. However, I will do my best to provide the best opportunities. This experience is oriented toward education rather than trophy hunting. All mushroom hunting and consumption is done at your own
