Food Scene

Very cool hipster café that turns into a bar at night. The nexus of the North End's creative class. Excellent coffees, locally-sourced ingredients. It's attached to a local (but pricey) market.

Excellent menu and atmosphere, nothing extraordinary in terms of personality but consistently A+ service and delicious food and wines. They have a relaxed rooftop patio that's great on a warm day where you can watch Agricola Street go by.

Asian fusion resto that's open pretty late. Pretty delicious brunch, awesome caesars, although I find the beer and wine a bit pricey.

Best vegan food in Halifax in a classy atmosphere. Juice bar and to-go fridge if you're in a rush or just want something healthy.

This brand-new Italian-American place just stole all my favourite waiters/waitresses from around town. Really well-done standard Italian stuff in a no-frills atmosphere. Cheap (and tasty) bottles of Vino.

Drinks & Nightlife

A dive bar that got really cool so it's not so grungy anymore. Awesome music and parties sometimes, terrible (awesome?) amateur comedy other times. There's a burger joint in here that has the best burgers in town.

The friendliest brewery with the best sense of humour. They brew fun beer and have zero pretentiousness about it. Their tap room is whimsical and strange. Great patio with games and parties.

Everything Else

I spend a LOT of time here. Climbing gym, café, coworking space, bar... all my favourite things in the same place. Amazing staff, lots of really good-looking (fit!) and friendly people, and a very tasty locally-sourced café menu. A few local taps too.
